An Alpha’s Prayer

Summary:

Pray.

He couldn’t pray for love for himself, like most alphas did when they came to this temple. So he prayed that the omega would somehow love his pack and not harm them. That this would work out.
He prayed for salvation.

Written for the Alpha Harry fic fest 2025. Prompt 41. The Styles pack is threatened. Their defiance of tradition and their rejection of the Omega Temple's commands make them dangerous in the eyes of those in power. To appease their enemies, the Styles' Pack Alpha accepts to receive an omega from one of the enemy packs and make them his Luna as a sign of good faith.

Notes:

Hello! Thank you so much for giving this story a chance. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed coming up with it from the original prompt, which changed... quite a bit along the way. Apologies to OP if this is not quite what they expected. I just asked a lot of questions and came up with answers.

Many thanks to the Alpha Harry Fest mods, who have been very kind and patient with me :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

The wind blew furiously against the Alpha’s cloak as he climbed the last hill that led to the Omega Temple. A step behind him, his right-hand reached out to adjust the Alpha’s hood.

“I saw your hair for a second there,” his friend whispered.

“Thank you,” the Alpha said.

He was careful to hold onto his hood until they reached their destination.

At the entrance of the Temple, he kneeled down as he had been instructed. He leaned forwards, the hood covering his face completely.

He was forced to stay on the cold hard floor for several minutes, the wind strong in his ears, until the door finally opened for him.

“Who are you? What do you want here?” an unfriendly genderless voice asked from somewhere above him.

As if they didn’t know. As if they weren’t forcing him to do this.

“I’m the Alpha of the Styles pack,” he said. “Here to ask for the goddess’s blessing.”

“Do you think yourself deserving of one of the Goddess's omegas?”

No, the alpha thought. Not at all. And he didn’t want one, either. He was here because he’d been threatened by some neighbouring packs. He was to marry a Temple omega of theirs to show his good faith or he’d have to fight them.

They were looking for an excuse to attack his pack, that much was obvious. They didn’t expect him to actually venture into the Temple, looking for a high-ranking omega indoctrinated in their religion. They didn’t think he’d actually take that omega-shaped ticking bomb into his territory.

What they didn’t know was that he’d do anything for his pack.

“I’ll leave that judgement for the goddess herself,” he replied, hoping that would be enough.

“Mmm,” the voice said, thoughtful or perhaps mocking.

Then there was silence.

“You may come inside and pray. Alone. Leave your offers at the door,” said the voice. “If the Goddess is happy with your prayers and your offers, she’ll pick one of her Revered Omegas for your pack.”

That made him smirk. Yeah, surely it was the prayers and not the offers that would count the most. If they counted at all, in his case. He turned his head to the side and made a sign for his right-hand to drop what they’ve brought with them up the hill. His friend nodded and swiftly complied, leaving him by himself.

He walked the aisle from the entrance to the altar, his steps echoing in the emptiness of the place. For an Omega Temple, where all the single omegas of the allied packs lived, it didn’t smell like omega at all. It smelled like burning candles, if anything. Given that he had no scents to guide him, he paid close attention to every sound in case there was a threat around him.

Nothing happened. He reached the altar and kneeled again, following their precious protocol.

Pray, the voice had said.

He did not believe in this all-powerful Goddess who only gave omegas to alphas she deemed ‘worthy’, who decided which pack got a high-ranking Luna and which one she would abandon to their own devices. He did not like what the other packs did with their omegas, bringing them here as offerings to be raised in the temple until—if— ‘the Goddess’ gave them to an alpha.

He’d heard stories. He’d met Temple Omegas with empty eyes and trembling hands. And he’d decided he’d never send one of the omegas in his pack to this place. If he ever had an omega child, he’d keep them in the pack. He’d protect them from these power-crazy people.

Pray, the voice had said.

He didn’t know the ‘right’ way to do so. So he asked for a means to save his pack. He prayed (if that was what he was doing) that if an omega was deemed ‘fit’ for him, they’d be able to make it work together.

Pray.

He couldn’t pray for love for himself, like most alphas did when they came to this temple. So he prayed that the omega would somehow love his pack and not harm them. That this would work out.

He prayed for salvation.

Daytime prayers were the worst times of the day. Every two hours, Louis had to sit still and pretend to be effortlessly obedient. Any movement was the cause of punishment—more time sitting still, more pretending. He had a much better time when they were sent to the fields to care for the crops.

Over the years, Louis had learnt to turn off his brain as he kneeled with his head down. When he was younger and more naive, he did pray, dutifully.

Please let me be a good Luna. Please let me find a good Alpha and a good pack I can help.

But as the years went by and nothing changed, he’d lost hope.

As the first-born child of the Pack Alpha, only two fates waited for him. If he presented as an alpha, he’d remain in the pack and be trained to replace his father as Pack Alpha one day. If he presented as an omega, he’d be offered to the Omega Goddess in the Temple, where he’d live and be trained to be the Luna of an allied pack.

He’d been taken to the Temple as soon as his first heat had finished.

“You’re going to learn so much, grow so much. You’re going to become a good Luna for a nice pack in the future. And when the Goddess gives you to an alpha, She’ll be giving me my closest ally as well,” his father had said, clearly excited. “As long as it’s not the Styles pack!” he joked.

At first, he’d taken the explanations at face value. It wasn’t until he’d been in the Temple for a few years that he realised it wasn’t actually that simple.

There were more high-ranking omegas in training that would ever be needed as Lunas. The vast majority of them would remain in the Temple for the rest of their years, living as servants to the Goddess. They were considered too valuable to be given to just any alpha, like the ‘normal’ omegas.

The ‘normal’ omegas didn’t do much better, though. Some of them had boyfriends outside before they were offered to the Temple. It was rare that the Goddess accepted giving them to those alphas. They almost always were sent to a different pack, in tears. But at least they left more often than not.

Louis had been offered to the Temple more than ten years ago. Three pack Alphas had visited the Temple and three high-ranking omegas had been given to them. There were over a dozen high-ranking omegas in the Temple, with more coming every year as they presented.

On top of everything, Louis was one of only a handful of male omegas (none of them high-ranking), as they were even more uncommon than the females. Needless to say, the three omegas that had been picked by the Goddess were females.

He knew how to do the maths. And he didn’t like his odds. He was going to die here, abandoned by the world, serving a Goddess who did not seem to like him.

Bad, bad omega.

“Omega Louis,” he was called.

He jumped in his place. Daytime prayer time was over. The Prioress was right next to him.

“I’m sorry,” he said.

“The Judge has summoned you,” the older omega said.

Louis blinked and stayed frozen in place.

“Me?” he asked, feeling stupid.

“Yes,” she said. “What are you waiting for?”

He jumped on his feet and rushed to the Judge’s office. After years of punishments he’d learnt hesitation was punishable by a slap.

On his way to the Judge, he bit his nails, nervous. He was sure he’d been quiet and still, but maybe he’d done something else?

“You’re an awful omega, so disobedient all the time,” the Judge said every time he called Louis into his office. “If you weren’t a Tomlinson, I’d get rid of you.”

“He might be useful one day,” the Prioress said sometimes, in his defence.

“What pack is going to accept a nuisance like him? And a male one, at that.”

The Judge was an older beta with salt and pepper hair, a round face, and a fake smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. Despite not being an omega himself, he was the person with the most power in the Temple, for some reason.

“Sit down,” the man said.

Louis did.

“Omega Louis, what is your life purpose?”

“To serve and obey, to follow the path the Goddess chooses for me,” he replied without hesitation.

He’d spent hours upon hours writing that phrase again and again until he couldn’t feel his hands. He’d been ‘corrected’ multiple times when he’d made a mistake or hesitated saying it.

The Judge smiled, pleased.

“You’re a good omega after all, aren’t you?”

Louis felt cold at those words, but he didn’t reply. He didn’t know what to  answer. He had tried to be good for years and years, but nothing he did seemed to be good enough. If he answered yes, he’d be called a liar, for sure. If he said no, he would be called impertinent and he’d be punished. So he said nothing and just kept… sitting there, his hands in fists, uncomfortable.

“There’s a mission for you, Omega Louis,” the Judge said after his silence.

“A mission?”

Omegas were rarely missionaries, at least not during reproductive age. He hadn’t expected to become one for some years.

“Well. Theoretically, the Goddess is giving you to a pack.”

Louis’ heart started hammering in his chest. The Goddess had picked him? He was finally leaving?

“The Styles pack,” the Judge added.

He felt as if he’d been drenched in cold water.

“Me?” he asked. “The Goddess has picked me for that pack? But dad said—aren’t they—awful?”

This was shocking news. The Tomlinson pack, his birth pack, had always hated the Styles pack. His dad always talked shit about them, about getting rid of them if he had a chance. Why would the Goddess want him to go there?

“The Goddess has picked you, as She believes you’re the best option to execute Her Plan,” the Judge said, as if he were able to read his mind.

Louis blinked, afraid to ask a wrong question.

“Uhm. What is Her Plan, sir?”

The Judge’s lip went up.

“You shall kill the Alpha of this pack,” the Judge replied.

“I’ll–what?!” he asked, voice high.

“You’re stronger than the female omegas, good with plants, fast,” he said, as if he was listing all of his negative qualities.

Louis made himself smaller in his chair.

“But why would the Goddess want me to kill someone?”

He covered his mouth. He shouldn’t have said that, even if the idea of murder had upset him so much. The Judge wasn’t pleased with him either. His lips pursed. His eyes filled with rage.

“If you must know, he’s not one of our faith. He defies our most sacred traditions.”

“What do you mean?”

“His pack hasn’t offered an omega to the Goddess in years. They run in his territories, unruly and untrained. Like savages. The alphas take them left and right, claiming them in view of everyone. They’re all degenerates.”

Louis gasped. His father had said they did not do things as they should, but he hadn’t mentioned any of those details.

“I didn’t know that,” he confessed.

It did sound terrible. But Louis—would have to kill the Pack Alpha? Why him?

“They must be controlled. Do you understand that, Omega Louis?”

Louis nodded. It was ingrained in his brain. Just say yes to everything the Judge said.

“But won’t he expect—to mate me?” he asked in a tiny voice.

The Judge didn’t reply to his question.

“I trust the Goddess will guide you to do a good and swift job,” he said instead. “Otherwise, you know what the Goddess is like when She is not happy.”

Louis gulped.

“Yes, sir.”

He packed his meagre belongings–nothing really valuable or personal– under the Prioress’ supervision. Assigned omegas were usually given the benefit of a night of reflection, prayers, and further training with her. He didn’t get that luxury.

“I want it to be clear for you, omega Louis,” she said. “You’re not going to serve and obey this Alpha. You’re still under the Goddess’s orders and will be for as long as you live. Is that understood?”

He nodded.

She handed him a dagger, a small vial and a bag with herbs.

“A full dose of the poison in the vial will bring even ten alphas down in about half an hour. Put the dagger in his heart to ensure the job is done. The herbs are for you, in case you’re injured.”

He accepted the objects in silence and hid them: the dagger in his boot, the poison in his pocket, the bag in his bag of clothes.

He felt as if he were under a trance. He walked to the door of the Temple reserved for leaving omegas. He kneeled before the Goddess one last time. Guided by the Prioress, he said goodbye and promised to fulfill his mission.

And suddenly, the door opened and he was handed over to an alpha covered with a black cloak, from head to ankles. That image made everything seem even more unreal.

“Thank you, Prioress,” the alpha man said.

“And the Alpha?” she asked, frowning.

“He’s ahead of us, in full shift,” he said. “He’ll prepare everything for the Omega’s arrival. It’s a long way home for him anyway.”

“I see,” she said. “He was supposed to stay for my blessing.”

The alpha’s head tilted.

“No need for that. We have the Goddess’s blessing through the Judge himself, don’t we?”

The Prioress didn’t say anything else. No good wishes, no goodbyes. He left Louis there and closed the door.

“Hi there, I’m Niall,” the alpha said.

For someone whose body was completely covered in black, he sounded way too chipper.

“Louis,” he replied.

“Nice to meet you, Omega Louis. Let’s go, shall we?”

For the first part of the trip, he walked down the mountain with the alpha by his side. At first, he was on his toes, fearing the worst from this mysterious alpha from a pack of degenerates. But the man spent the way down singing to himself. He didn’t even try to make small talk, for which Louis was grateful.

“Is it very far away?” he asked, feeling silly.

“Yeah,” he said. “Well, farther away than the ally packs.”

“Are we going to walk there?” he asked, in dismay.

High-ranking omegas did not walk to places. They had horses for that. At least in civilised packs, which clearly wasn’t the case. Louis wondered if he’d manage to walk all the way to the Style’s pack territory without dropping dead. How long would it take?

“Nah. We had to leave our men and your horse down at the base.”

That was such a relief.

When they finally reached the skirts of the mountain, Niall helped Louis on the horse. Around him, a dozen guards already turned into their wolves waited for him to be ready.

“All right?” Niall asked.

“Yes,” he replied, as he usually did, without meaning to.

Niall nodded and turned into a white wolf—a stark contrast to his cloak. All the wolves, including him, flanked the horse and guided his way. There was too much silence. Like during Prayers. Everything was surreal and uncomfortable. He wanted to flee.

Louis’ shoulders were so tense that his back started to hurt.

He had time to think,  though. Time to plan. He was by himself, with the Goddess as his only protection against this awful pack.

He’d have to kill the alpha. He’d have to.

He immediately knew when they were close. The wolves that guided his horse howled in a particular way, as if announcing their arrival. Or giving a warning.

He got off the horse to find himself in front of hundreds of people, all of them staring at him. It was unnerving. There was something weird in the air. He looked to the left, where a pair of green eyes were fixed on him. He looked down.

“Omega,” Niall said, once more his human self, black cloak and all. “Allow me to introduce you to the Alpha of the Styles pack.”

There was an alpha in front of him. He had approached quietly. He was tall, thin, pale and had black wavy hair. He was younger than Louis expected, probably a handful of years younger than him.

“You’re a male omega,” was the first thing the Alpha said.

“Is that a problem?” he asked, tense.

The man looked around, found someone’s eyes in the crowd and then looked at Louis again.

“No. It's just unexpected. I hadn’t heard of a high-ranking male omega being given to a pack in… well, ever, probably.”

“The Goddess is never wrong,” Louis muttered, frowning.

“We’ll see about that,” the alpha said. “What is your name?”

“Louis,” he said, timidly.

The alpha nodded.

“You may address me as the Pack Alpha.”

Louis’ nose wrinkled in distaste. He immediately changed his face into something neutral. He could already tell why this Alpha was so hated. Why the Goddess wanted him dead.

“Yes, Pack Alpha,” he said.

“And after our little ceremony, I’ll address you as Luna.”

His heart began hammering in his chest. He felt weak. Here it was. What he’d been prepared for. He’d be forced to mate this stranger. He’d become this pack’s fake Luna for as long as it took for him to kill him.

It wouldn’t take long, he promised himself. Alphas were the most vulnerable when they were knotting. He’d kill him then or in his sleep. Quick and easy. He was fast.

He’d kill him.

Louis didn’t know what he was expecting as the Alpha of the Styles pack led him to the middle of a circle made by his people. He just tensed, bracing for the worst. Was the Alpha going to mate him here, in front of everyone, like a savage?!

The Pack Alpha lifted both hands. Louis flinched and closed his eyes. He only opened them when he realised the man had put a necklace around his neck.

“You have been claimed as part of the Styles pack,” he said.

He pulled the chain to analyse said ‘claim’. There was an S-shaped charm hanging from his neck and nothing more.

“That’s it?” Louis asked, furrowing his brow.

“That’s it. That’s as much ceremony as you can expect in this pack,” he said.

It was definitely clearer for Louis that they didn’t believe in the Goddess nor followed any traditions.

“I hope you understand that, as our Luna, you are to safeguard the well-being of every member of our pack. You’re here to protect and serve, aren’t you, Omega Louis?”

He looked into the Alpha’s hazel eyes.

“Yes,” he lied. “But I thought we’d mate? Or is that… is that happening later?”

“There won’t be any of that,” the Alpha said.

“But—why?” Louis asked, truly confused. “The Alpha must mate with the Luna of his pack.”

“Yeah, we don’t do that here,” he explained. “In this pack, the Luna is more of a co-ruler, a pack protector, as I’ve told you. Not necessarily a mate to the Pack Alpha.”

“So, the Alpha and the Luna simply… don’t mate?”

“Oh, you may,” he said. “I mean, the Alpha can mate if he falls in love. So may the Luna, as long as he finds a good alpha. But it’s not mandatory for them to mate each other, especially in this situation. You’re a stranger, darling. I hope you understand I have no desire to mate you.”

Louis was equal parts relieved and distressed at the revelation.

On the one hand, he wouldn’t be forced to mate the annoying alpha. On the other, did that mean any alpha in this pack could claim Louis for themselves? He winced at the thought.

“All right,” the man said, interrupting his thoughts. “We’ve prepared a feast to celebrate your arrival. Come this way.”

Louis followed him in silence, thoughts going haywire as he stared at the Alpha's back.

How was he to kill him if the Alpha didn’t trust Louis enough to sleep with him or mate him? Even if the alpha was on the leaner side, Louis wasn’t strong enough to fight him.

He’d need to be smarter.

They sat at one of dozens of round tables prepared for the event inside a huge building. He was given a place to the Alpha’s right.

He didn’t pay attention to the rest of the guests. Instead, he grasped the vial in his pocket underneath the table. He just needed a chance to pour the liquid into the Alpha’s drink. It’d be undetectable. He never thought he had to do it in public, though. He looked around, distressed. He couldn’t see faces, he couldn’t tell one scent from the other.

Everything still felt like a dream.

He’d just have to do it now.

The food was served on a huge tray at the centre of the table, along with a jar of something that smelled like beer. But nobody started serving or eating. Louis looked up to see what the Pack Alpha did, trying to get a clue about what he should do. Was serving one of his expected duties?

“Harry,” the Pack Alpha said. “Please proceed.”

Louis watched as the weirdest thing happened. The alpha who was sitting to the Pack Alpha’s left stood up, reached out and cut pieces of the mutton from different parts, here and there. He then served a glass of beer. He sat down and started eating while the rest of the pack kept talking around them.

Louis stared. ‘Harry’ was the man who had caught his attention earlier. He recognised his green eyes and curly hair. He didn’t understand what was going on, though. He just stared and stared as Harry munched little pieces of food  and then sipped his drink.

He finished eating and the minutes passed. People at the table tried to engage Louis in conversation. He didn’t know what to do or say, the vial still clasped in his hand. His eyes went back to Harry again and again.

A good five minutes passed. Louis was getting hungry. Finally, Harry stood up again and pushed his plate and the glass toward the Pack Alpha.

“It is safe,” he declared.

Everyone cheered and raised their arms up in the air.

The Pack Alpha proceeded to take the knife. Before he started cutting, he addressed Louis.

“Luna, your hands up in celebration if you please?”

Louis had to let go of the vial to obey, awkwardly lifting up his arms like everyone else, palms open.

The Pack Alpha served the food for their table. Then more people came and took plates to the other tables. Louis observed everything. Every table celebrated the arrival of the food by raising their arms and shaking their hands.

Louis ate his food slowly, puzzled by the whole experience.

“Is it any good?” asked a familiar voice

Louis turned to his right and saw a man with blue eyes and light brown hair.

“Oh, sorry. It’s Niall. We met earlier,” he said, with a warm smile and bright eyes that contrasted with the mysterious persona he’d presented with his cloak.

“Uhm,” Louis said. “Hi. And yes, it’s delicious. Thank you.”

It was the truth, but Louis had replied as automatically as always.

“I’m glad!” Niall said and kept eating with gusto by his side.

Louis wasn’t finished with his food when guilt stopped him.

Why was he eating and not following the Goddess’s orders?

He looked around again, waiting for some kind of diversion. For several minutes, nothing happened. Finally, there was some commotion at another table—boisterous laughter about something or other—and everyone turned their heads to try to see what was happening. Louis put his hand in his pocket immediately.

“Your hands must remain on the table at all times,” Niall said.

Caught in the act, Louis obeyed immediately and put his palms on the table. His face must have given away some of what he was feeling, as an omega next to Niall leaned forward and looked at him. He had long, dark hair and bright brown eyes.

“It’s not a punishment,” the omega said. “It’s a rule here,” he explained.

Louis was able to breathe again.

“Ah. Thank you,” he said.

“Sorry,” said Niall. “I didn’t mean to be harsh.”

“It’s not your fault,” said the omega. “But that’s a Temple punishment. Your hands must be on top of the table, palms down, while you watch everyone else eat.”

Louis’ eyes widened.

“Are you a Temple Omega?” he asked, voice quivering.

“No,” he replied.

There was a long pause before the omega decided to speak again.

“My older sister was. She was given to an alpha before I presented. When she told our parents what she’d been through— Anyway, I wasn’t offered to the Temple.”

He closed his mouth tightly and shook his head, clearly uncomfortable.

Louis sat there, breathing heavily, trying to calm down. He wanted to ask why it was a rule here, but he was also curious about the omega’s story.

“Is your sister okay?” he decided to ask in the end.

“Yes,” the omega said. “Fortunately for us, she was given to a good alpha.”

There was an awkward pause before Niall spoke again.

“And this is Zayn,” the alpha said. “I have a feeling you’ll get along well. Zayn, this is our brand new Luna, Louis.”

“Nice to meet you, Luna,” said the omega.

Louis finished his food and spent the rest of the meal shifting on his chair, making small talk with Niall and Zayn. He wanted to ask more about the costumes and rules in this pack but didn't. He didn’t want to be punished for asking impertinent questions.

The feast ended late. Louis had already yawned twice by the time the Pack Alpha decided it was time for him to rest after his trip.

“Harry, please take our Luna to his room,” he ordered.

Louis found it weird that, once again, he was to be left alone with an alpha. He braced for the worst. Harry stood up promptly, walked around the table, and helped Louis out of his chair. Louis said his goodbyes and followed him.

“This way, Luna,” the Alpha said.

Louis observed him. He was taller than the Pack Alpha. He was lean and athletic. His scent was odd. It wasn’t something familiar to Louis.

He guided him down the road to a log cabin with a pink door.

“This is the main Pack house,” he explained. “There’s a room prepared for you here.”

Once inside, he led him up some stairs and to a door, which he opened to let Louis in.

“Come in, please,” he said. “This is it,” he said. “Feel free to make as many changes as you need. I don’t like the curtains, personally.”

“You don’t like the curtains,” Louis repeated in disbelief.

Harry crossed his arms.

“Yeah? They look sad.”

They were a shade of gray Louis was used to seeing in the Temple.

“Do they?” he asked.

“Yeah?” Harry repeated, unsure.

Louis blinked, exhausted, and shook his head.

“All right,” he said. He didn’t know what else to say.

“Uhm. Is there anything else you need?” Harry asked.

Louis kept quiet. Then shook his head again.

“Uhm. In that case… wait, do you run cold? There are extra blankets in the cupboard over there. Should I just… throw some onto your bed? Just in case?”

That was a good idea.

“Yes, thank you,” Louis said.

He was tired and confused. He had so many questions he knew he shouldn’t ask. His main concern remained: How was he to kill the Pack Alpha if he didn’t understand what was happening?

He looked at Harry as the alpha rearranged the bed. He looked harmless and was clearly not high-ranking. He was also the source of some of his questions. Perhaps he could try.

“Excuse me, can I ask something?” he said.

“Sure!” he replied immediately, with a smile which reassured Louis.

“What, uhm,” he cleared his throat. “What was that? With you… and the food… and the hands?”

“Ah,” Harry said. “That’s a long story, but basically I was making sure the food was safe for everyone to eat.”

“Why?” he asked, confused.

“I’m the food taster,” he replied with a shrug.

“But that’s—why?”

“So that everyone is safe,” Harry explained, patiently. “It’s not because of you!” he rushed to clarify. “We’re always receiving lots of newcomers from other packs. They don’t always have the best intentions toward us or the Pack Alpha. So we take our precautions.”

“You taste the food for poison,” Louis summarised. “And then everyone’s hands must be on top of the table at all times so nobody can mess with it.”.

“Yeah,” Harry said. “I guess we must look like a bunch of weirdos to a venerable Omega like you, right?” he said, with a self-deprecating little chuckle.

Louis wanted to say yes, and that they were making his job unnecessarily difficult, but he’d learnt to keep his outbursts to himself.

“I’m no venerable omega,” he muttered instead, almost to himself.

“Uh, okay,” said Harry.

“And—” Louis started.

“Yeah?”

“Is it true that any alpha can claim me?” he asked.

He was already planning on barricading himself behind his door, but he wanted to know the truth.

“I mean, any alpha you want, yeah,” Harry said.

“What if I don’t want any?”

“Then you tell them no. And if they don’t understand the word no, you call me and I’ll gladly help them understand if you know what I mean.”

“Really?”

“Really. You’re free and safe here, Luna. I promise,” he swore, raising his hand palm up.

Louis wasn’t quite convinced. For all he knew, the next day he’d finally witness the depravity he’d been warned about. He could picture it: alphas claiming omegas in the streets, doing unfathomable things to them.

He scratched his neck and found the necklace he'd forgotten he was even wearing.

“Do I need to wear this at all times?”

It felt like a brand. He didn’t like it.

“Nah,” said Harry. “Nobody does, not even the Pack Alpha. Being Pack is meant to be here, you know?” he said, pointing at his temple. “Just keep it somewhere safe.”

Louis removed the necklace and felt better immediately.

“Thanks for explaining things to me, Harry. May I please be left alone?”

The alpha jumped in his place.

“Yes, of course! Sorry! I’m leaving!”

He left in a matter of seconds and closed the door behind him.

Louis made sure to lock the window and the door before sitting on the bed. He was once more alone with his thoughts.

He must kill the Alpha.

But how, if he had no access to his bed or to his food?

He stared at the wall in dismay.

The next day, Louis woke up groggy. He hadn’t expected to fall asleep, but there was something… something comforting in the blankets that had knocked him out once he’d finally lay down. After some blinking and stretching he realised he’d woken up because of a knock on his door.

“Yeah?”

“Hi,” Harry’s voice said behind the door. “Are you awake?”

“Well, I am now,” he replied, a bit grumpy.

“Are you hungry?” he asked. “I’ve got tea and toast. Can I come in?”

“Give me a minute, I have to get dressed,” he said, sitting up.

“Sure! Give me a shout when you’re ready.”

He did so. Even when Louis unlocked the door, Harry did not open it until he made sure Louis was decent. Then he brought in a tray and put it on the table. Next, he went straight to the window and opened the curtains and then the window, lips pouting a little as he did so.

Louis had never seen an alpha serving an omega. It was so weird.

“Are you my maid now?” Louis asked, jokingly, as he sat down.

He gasped. He shouldn’t have said that. He dug his nails into his thighs.

Harry didn’t slap him. He laughed.

“I—kind of? The Pack Alpha has decided I’m the best person to show you around and teach you how things work around here.”

“You must be a good teacher,” Louis said.

“I hope so!” Harry replied with a smile.

In the light of day, he was able to see dimples on his face. They made him look softer. Maybe kinder. Those were weird adjectives to describe an alpha. Louis frowned and focused on his food instead, ready to eat when he was finally allowed to.

“I’d like to show you around our territories today. Is that okay? Our fields look very nice this time of year.”

Louis didn’t take his eyes away from the food. But he didn’t eat either.

“Uhm. Can I eat first?” he asked, confused.

Harry frowned.

“What? Of course.”

“Sorry, I—I’m used to being told when I can eat.”

Harry stared at him with wide eyes.

“Well, you can do it whenever you want, no permission needed. Ever. Sorry, I was just trying to make small talk while you ate. I didn’t mean to—Should I leave you to it?”

Louis thought about it. He didn’t like the silence or solitude too much. He’d spent years living under their rule in the Temple.

“No. Keep going. What else is there to see?” he asked.

“Oh! Do you like cows? There are some new calves I’ve been meaning to visit. They’re so cute.”

Louis ate more or less in silence, listening to Harry raving about the pack territories.

After breakfast, they walked for a long time to the fields. Harry waved enthusiastically at all the people they found along the way and everyone waved back.

“Have you met our new Luna?” he yelled, when the people were at a distance.

That prompted them to walk toward Louis and introduce themselves. At the beginning, Louis had flinched, fearing this would be the alpha who’d try to claim him. It didn’t happen. He didn’t see alphas abusing omegas on the way, either.

The worst thing that happened during their walk was that Louis got overwhelmed. He had never shaken hands with so many people. There were so many new faces, names and scents. So many people with curly black hair and clear eyes.

“Are you okay?” Harry asked after the fifth time someone greeted Louis enthusiastically and he flinched in response.

“Yes,” he replied, automatically.

“Really?” the alpha asked, looking at him with furrowed brows.

“Uhm,” he hesitated. “I’m a little… that’s a lot of new people.”

“Oh,” Harry replied. “I can see. Sorry. Here, this way.”

He pulled Louis toward a thicket away from the main path.

“Is that better?”

Louis looked at the ground and smiled.

“Yes, thank you.”

Harry took him to some maize fields and talked about them as if he was bragging about gold mines.

“Oh, and we’re trying this new type of maize this year. It’s not going great, but hey, it takes time, right?”

Louis didn’t know why he was even here, so far away from his mission, but he was… calm. He was enjoying his time outside, just existing. Daytime prayer time had come and gone at least two times since he’d woken up and nobody had forced him to kneel quietly. Perhaps it was that calm that made him comfortable enough to ask about the fields.

“Where are its sisters?”

“Its what?” Harry asked, a confused smile on his face.

Louis blinked at him.

“Its sisters. Beans. And squash. And sunflowers.”

The sunflowers were his favourite part.

Harry kept quiet.

“Please don’t think I’m an idiot but I have no idea what you’re trying to say,” he finally said.

He stared at Harry. He could keep it to himself or he could tell him.

He didn’t know why he decided to tell him. Perhaps it was Harry’s patient demeanour, or the fresh air.

Louis explained what he’d learnt about those crops in his time in the Temple. He hadn’t just read books about it. He’d been forced to cultivate the Temple fields for as long as he’d been there. He was told he was learning something that would be useful for his future pack.

Who would have thought that would end up being the truth?

He talked to Harry about companionship, soil fertility, weed and pest prevention to the best of his ability. The words tasted weird in his tongue. He hadn’t spoken so much in a long time. Harry just stared at him, mouth slightly agape.

“What?” Louis asked.

“How do you know all of this?”

“I was taught in the Temple,” Louis replied.

“Do they really teach you these things in the Temple?” Harry asked, surprised.

“Yes,” Louis said.

“I thought—I thought the whole teaching and training thing was a cover. That they didn’t really teach you Os anything useful. That they just took the omegas away from their packs. As leverage or something.”

Louis blinked.

He’d never seen it that way. But no. The Temple didn’t take the omegas in as leverage. They were taken to the temple to serve the Goddess and learn to be good omegas.

That was the Truth.

Wasn’t it?

Harry turned around to watch the field.

“We should try it in a small patch first, see what happens. I’ll tell the Pack Alpha.”

Louis didn’t say anything more.

As they made their way from the maize field to the pastures, Harry gave Louis space to think. He didn’t babble or make small talk. He let Louis’ mind become a jumbled mess.

The Pack Alpha seemed like an idiot and Harry was too kind. But they hadn’t once talked about punishing Louis for anything he’d done since his arrival. And he’d made quite a few blunders.

He’d also met a lot of people. If the pack was full of degenerates, surely he’d have seen something by now.

If only he didn’t have to kill the Alpha, perhaps…

But no. He had to. There was no question about it.

His one and only job was to kill the Pack Alpha.

It was a direct order from the Goddess.

You must. You know what the Goddess is like when She is not happy.

He shook his head. And then glanced sideways at Harry. The alpha was walking by his side, his curls bouncing as he jumped over tree roots now and then. The wind had messed his hair up.

He seemed fast and agile. Until he stumbled and fell on his knees.

“Are you okay?” Louis asked, concerned.

Harry stood up quickly and dusted his trousers. His face was red.

“Yes, all right,” he replied, but Louis wasn’t convinced. His trousers seemed okay, but he could be hurt underneath them.

He walked to him and smelled, looking for blood while he checked his hands. They were red but there were no cuts on them. He didn’t smell like blood either.

“Do you want to go back?” he asked, looking up.

Harry’s green eyes were serious and fixed on him. They even looked a bit dilated.

“Don’t worry,” he said. “It happens to me all the time.”

Louis didn’t know what happened to him. He simply spaced out, looking at Harry’s face, holding his hands, smelling his scent. As soon as he realised what he was doing, he pulled away.

“You should be more careful.”

“I won’t die of a fall in the woods,” Harry said.

“No, you’ll die poisoned instead,” Louis said.

He shouldn’t have said that.

Harry chuckled.

“That is more likely, yeah.”

They kept walking, but now that Louis had an opening, he took advantage of it.

“Why did you end up with that shitty job?” he asked, curious.

Harry tilted his head, as if in thought.

“I didn’t pick it. If that’s what you’re thinking.”

Louis scoffed.

“Of course you didn’t. Who would choose to put his life on the line on a permanent basis?”

Harry smiled at him. Dimples and all.

“It’s got its perks.”

Louis scoffed.

“Like what?”

“Free food? The company of a nice omega?”

Louis giggled, much to his chagrin.

“Be serious.”

“Well, seriously—I keep the Alpha alive. I feel like I’m doing something to protect our pack. That feels good.”

“That sounds nice,” Louis said.

Louis kept thinking about that. Protecting a pack of his own.

No. You must kill the Alpha.

The calves were cute. But he was exhausted after so much walking around and meeting new people. Harry took him back to the house and Louis pretty much fell asleep after having a late lunch.

And that was how he didn’t kill the Alpha on his second day with the Styles pack.

Louis didn’t have a chance to approach the Pack Alpha the next day or the day after that. His scent was diluted and easy to lose. He almost never saw him around either. When he did, he watched him like a hawk, waiting for an opportunity to strike. The vial was always in his pocket, the dagger always in his boot.

He was looking for the perfect moment, which never came in his first week with the pack. The man seemed to be avoiding him in a masterful way.

While the Pack Alpha spent as much time away from Louis as possible, Harry was glued to his side. He introduced him to people and took him to different places—from the mountains, to the flower fields, showing off the pack territories with bright eyes and dimpled smiles.

They got into a routine of sorts. Harry brought him breakfast in the mornings and opened the curtains and the windows. Louis started associating him with fresh air and sunlight. He'd finally pinned down his scent.

Little by little, Louis talked more with him.

“Well, well, if it isn’t my nanny,” Louis greeted him.

“I think of myself more as your personal bodyguard,” Harry replied.

“Mm,” Louis said. “I don’t know. Perhaps my annoying shadow.”

“Would your annoying shadow bring you pancakes?”

Louis almost squealed.

“Thank you,” he replied.

One day, as Harry opened the curtains, Louis finally told him.

“I agree that the curtains look sad,” he said.

“Right?!” Harry replied, excited. “I’m sure we can get some in a nicer colour. What colour do you like?”

He thought about it.

“Yellow. Like the sun.”

Harry’s permanent smile widened.

“Consider it done.”

“What are the plans for today?” Louis asked. “Am I finally meeting with the Alpha?”

“I don’t think so. He’s busy.”

Louis wouldn’t ever confess it out loud, but he felt relieved every time Harry confirmed he wouldn’t see the Pack Alpha. It felt like he was free. At least for a day. There was nothing he could do, right? It wasn’t his fault.

“As for plans, there is a couple that wishes to see you to get a blessing.”

Louis almost spat out his juice.

“What?”

“Uh. An alpha and an omega. I thought that was something you’d expect? To bless some unions?”

“That’s something I’m trained to do, yes,” said Louis. “But I didn’t think it was done here. You don’t believe in blessings, do you?”

Here, every alpha could mate just any omega and the other way around. Like degenerates. They didn’t ask for the Goddess’ guidance. Like savages.

“Uhm. Most of us don’t, but remember there are people who came here from other packs. They believe.”

Louis frowned.

“And you’re okay with that?”

“Well, yes,” Harry said. “That’s their thing. They’re not hurting anyone. Unlike the Temple.”

Those words bothered Louis. He kept stubbornly quiet until he was done with breakfast. Despite his outward silence, Harry's words didn’t stop drilling in his head.

Harry took him to the couple’s home. The omega, a young woman, was so excited to receive him that it was a bit unnerving.

“Please come in, please come in! This is my alpha, Abel. I requested to see you as soon as I heard the Goddess had heard our prayers. I’m so glad you’re here.”

“Thank you,” Louis said. “You’re so kind.”

She led them to the living room, where her alpha was waiting. He stood up and greeted Louis.

“Josie has wanted our union to be blessed by the Goddess for the longest time,” said the alpha. “I never thought we’d get to do it.”

“I’ve dreamt of this since I was a child,” she explained. “When we had to run away and come here I thought it wouldn’t ever happen. But you’re here. The Goddess has smiled at us. It must be a sign that she approves of our union after all, right?”

There were tears in her eyes. Louis was moved by her fervent words despite her circumstances. Without a doubt, her faith was stronger than Louis’. It made him feel ashamed.

“Let us pray,” he said, taking her hand. Then he hesitated and turned his head toward Harry. “Is that okay?” he asked.

“Of course,” the alpha said. “I’ll wait for you here,” he said, walking back to the entrance hall.

Louis kneeled on the living room floor along with the couple and they prayed together. He blessed their union after that. He shouldn’t have. He knew he shouldn’t have, given that this wasn’t a Temple-approved union. Given that he wasn't technically a Temple-approved Luna.

But was it wrong? Was it wrong to bless a couple who had kept their faith even in a pack who didn’t believe? Two people who wanted it so much?

Was their union wrong just because they had chosen each other by themselves, without asking for permission at the Omega Temple?

He’d been told this pack was full of libertines, degenerates and sinners. But that was not what he’d seen in the couple he’d blessed. That was not something he’d encountered at all in his time here.

Josie almost squealed at the end of the ceremony and jumped on her alpha to kiss him with a passion Louis had never witnessed before.

He should have felt disgust at the way the alpha’s hands wrapped around her waist and the way the omega hung from his neck. Instead, he felt something else. Something we couldn’t describe but that made him upset.

When he and Harry left the couple’s home, Louis had a headache.

“Do you need to lay down?” Harry asked.

“Yes, please,” he begged.

Harry took him to the lake for the first time on a windy morning. After confirming the Pack Alpha was busy once again, he gave him a scarf to cover his nose. It smelt a little bit like the alpha, but Louis didn’t complain about it.

The lake quickly became Louis’ favourite place in the pack territories, so blue and surrounded by flower scents and bird songs. So peaceful yet so alive.

“You like it here,” Harry observed.

“Yeah,” Louis confessed, not without a certain shame.

“Me too,” said Harry.

Those were Louis’ favourite moments too. When he breathed in and out in peace. When there was nothing he could do. When he felt safe in the company of fresh air and sunshine.

On their way back, they found an alpha waving desperately at them.

“What’s wrong?” Harry asked.

“Is there anything in the pack house that we can give our pup?” he asked.

“What’s the matter with him?”

“He’s got a fever,” the alpha replied. “And like… a rash.”

“Oh no, is it chicken pox?” Harry asked. “If it is, there’s not much to do but wait. He’s a strong little wolf, it’ll be out of his system in a few days.”

The alpha deflated.

“My omega said the same. But he’s only three, and so desperate…”

The dad’s sad eyes turned to Louis.

“Is there anything you can do?”

As the Luna of the pack, it was Louis’ job to do something, in fact. Even if he wasn’t the Luna of this pack, not actually, he couldn’t just do nothing.

“Yes,” Louis replied. “Are there neem trees in the pack territories?” he asked Harry.

The alpha’s eyes widened a little.

“I don’t know,” he replied. “That doesn’t sound familiar. Does it to you?” he asked the other alpha, who shook his head.

That was inconvenient.

“What about chamomile?”

“Yeah,” Harry said. “Yeah, that we have.”

“Okay, bring me some. Let’s see the pup.”

As Harry had said, there wasn’t a lot they could do. He taught the nervous parents how to make chamomile compresses. He sang a little to distract the pup, calm him down just enough to accept them.

All in all, Harry and him spent a couple of hours in the mated couple’s home.

They were about to leave when the omega mum asked a timid question.

“It should be okay to bring my sister’s pups, right? So they get it now rather than later?”

Harry said yes, Louis said no.

“What?” Harry asked.

“Why don’t you just inoculate them?” Louis asked.

“What is that?” asked Harry.

Louis couldn’t help but look at him as if he was crazy. He explained the way they could take a scab from this pup and use it to keep the others safe.

“They’ll get a night fever, perhaps a rash in their arm, but nothing more.”

“Thank you so much,” the omega said, relieved.

Harry kept quiet as they walked back to the pack house.

“I didn’t know about that,” he confessed in the end.

Louis had figured that out.

“But it’s common knowledge,” he said.

“Yeah, in the Temple, I guess. Not here. We haven’t ever had a Temple Luna.”

Louis frowned. That made sense. It explained why they didn’t know about growing crops efficiently or inoculating pups.

“Not ever. But how—? You’ve grown and prospered,” he said, confused.

Harry shrugged.

“We’ve managed. We’ve been lucky to get some ideas from the wolves who came here from other packs, I suppose,” he replied. “I didn’t know there was all this secret knowledge that only you high-ranking omegas got.”

“That was smart of your Alpha, letting people from other packs in. A good way to cope without a trained Luna.”

“I guess,” Harry said.

How would they manage when Louis finally killed their Pack Alpha?

His full body shivered.

He didn’t want to think about that.

He closed up and kept to himself the rest of the day.

“Is the Alpha going to honour me with his presence today?” he asked a few mornings later.

“I don’t think so, sorry,” said Harry. “There have been some wolf sightings near the southern border. He’s probably there to make sure everything is okay.”

“Enemies?” Louis asked.

Would they kill the Alpha? And free Louis of his burden?

“They could be,” said Harry, sitting by his side and stealing an orange from his tray. “Sometimes it’s wolves who’ve heard about us, looking for asylum. But it’s hard to tell,” he explained, peeling the fruit.

“Still, your pack gives them a chance.”

“Of course,” said Harry. “I told you the other day, our pack has grown so big and so powerful only because of the wolves that have come to us from other packs. We wouldn’t even stand a chance against enemy packs if it weren’t for those people. When—our last alpha died, the situation was dire, you know? Our Pack Alpha was too young to know what to do. Most of our alphas and betas were hurt, unable to hunt. Our omegas were famished, vulnerable, living in fear of being taken by the Temple.”

Louis straightened his back, tense as a rod.

“Sorry,” said Harry. “I know talking about the Temple makes you uncomfortable. I shouldn’t—”

“No, it’s okay,” said Louis. “What happened after? Why did so many people come here if the situation was so bad?”

“Well, we’re an amazing pack,” Harry joked.

“Seriously,” said Louis.

“Well. I guess… We don’t follow the Temple’s orders. Never have,” Harry said. “For one, omegas and alphas can mate whoever they wish, as you know,” he said. “Our omegas don’t need to be sent there. And we don’t pay tribute to them.”

Louis shifted on his chair.

“And that’s it? That’s why people come here because you allow them to mate whoever?”

“Well, love is important for a lot of people,” Harry explained. “Not only romantic love. We have people here who fled their packs when their children presented as omegas. You’ve met Zayn.”

“They don’t want their pups to go to the Temple,” Louis reflected out loud.

“Would you?” Harry asked, his eyes seemingly looking inside Louis’ soul. “Would you send your children to them?”

No, his mind screamed. Not after what he’d gone through. Not after what he’d seen. Not after what he’d been sent here to do. It was useless to think about that. It was highly unlikely he’d ever get a true alpha or children, but he’d never do that to them. Or to anyone.

So, the temple was awful. Louis’ throat closed as he realised he was nothing but part of it.

“If you’re so against the Temple, why did you bring me here?” he asked, in a tiny voice.

He knew why the Temple had sent him. But why had this pack gone through the trouble of going to the Temple and praying to the Goddess for a Luna if they didn’t believe? Why had they opened their doors to Louis when they shouldn’t have?

“Uhm,” said Harry.

“Don’t I represent everything you despise?” Louis wondered out loud.

Harry shook his head vehemently.

“No, we don’t hate you. I don’t hate you. I think you’re a good person.”

That was the answer he least expected.

A good person. Louis felt his face flushing. He’d never been called that. It was so close to being called a good omega. It was fucking weird, like everything in this pack, especially Harry.

He was so distracted by his thoughts that it took a few minutes for him to realise…

“You didn’t answer my question. Why am I here?”

“You’d need to ask the Alpha,” he said. “But I think his hand was forced by the other packs. I heard they threatened to attack us if he didn’t show a sign of good faith. And we're stable and all… but not big enough to face all the packs that follow the Temple's rules.”

“So I'm a sign of good faith,” Louis said.

How fucking ironic. A sign of good faith sent here to kill their Alpha and destabilise them.

“Yeah,” Harry said.

If only they knew.

“We didn’t know what to expect,” Harry continued. “But you're not too shabby for our brand new Pack Luna.”

Louis was so conflicted. He didn’t know how to react. So he took a piece of orange peel and threw it at Harry. He hadn’t done such a thing since he was a child. His heart pounded in his chest, knowing he'd done something wrong.

Harry just giggled and threw another piece at him.

Louis gasped.

“Well you're a shabby alpha. Awful, simply awful!” he said, pulling the peel off his cheek.

He didn’t mean those words. Judging by Harry's chuckle, he knew he didn't.

Harry was a good alpha.

Louis was an awful omega, and a terrible Luna. His nails dug into his thighs.

Another morning in the Styles pack. This time, the sun shone through his yellow curtains and woke Louis up. It was already up in the sky. He frowned. Harry was late.

He got dressed, put the dagger in his boot and the vial in his pocket, as he did every day. He had no expectations for this day, but he had to be prepared. He had to.

Harry didn’t knock as he tied his boots and rearranged his collar. He decided to open the door and go out himself, hoping that would be okay. He followed his instinct and the usual path he saw Harry taking.

He soon heard his familiar voice and followed it to the kitchen. Inside, Harry was rushing, putting toast on a plate and cooking something in the fire. But he wasn’t alone. There were two female omegas talking to him through the window.

“Are you sure you don’t want us to come in?” one of them said. “It looks like you need a hand.”

“All’s under control,” Harry said.

“We wouldn’t mind,” the other omega said.

“We’d be honoured.”

Harry stopped to look at them.

“Don’t worry, really. I’ve got this,” he repeated.

“Will we see you later?” the first omega asked.

“Of course,” he said, turning back to the fire.

The omegas turned their heads to look at each other and covered their lips to hide their giggles.

The whole scene had Louis fuming for no reason. He marched into the kitchen, feeling like he was going to blow up.

“Lou! You’re here!” Harry said, his face filling with joy. “Guys, have you met our Luna?”

“Good morning, Luna!” the omegas said.

Harry kept minding the fire and addressing him.

“I’m sorry. I had to—breakfast is almost ready! Would you like to have a seat? I haven’t had breakfast either, we can eat together here.”

“Thank you,” Louis said. Then he turned his head toward the omegas. “Are you staying?” he asked them, clearly meaning for them to leave.

“We were just leaving, Luna!” one omega said.

“See you later!” the other said, pulling her friend away.

He crossed his arms and watched them go until they disappeared.

“Rough night?” Harry asked.

“What?” Louis asked.

“You seem a bit off,” he said, serving a plate and putting it in front of Louis.

“I’m okay,” he said, perhaps a bit too sharp.

Harry served his own plate and sat next to him.

“Sure?”

“Yes,” he said.

Realising he had eggs on his plate made him wrinkle his nose. He wasn’t in the mood for eggs.

“Would you rather have some pancakes?” Harry asked.

“Can I?” Louis asked timidly.

“Sure! Whatever you want. Give me a sec,” he replied, standing up.

Louis felt something fluttering in his chest.

Harry prepared and served his pancakes while he informed him they were having supper with the pack that day.

“Remember those rumours about the southern border? Well, there was a group after all. They asked for asylum. Three alphas, one beta.”

Louis frowned.

“Is it normal for alphas and betas to seek asylum without any omegas?”

Harry’s lip went slightly up.

“No, it’s not,” he said. “So the Pack Alpha is wary of them. Pack supper today is a test of sorts. We’re going to see how they behave.”

Louis squinted.

“Was the feast to welcome me here a test as well?”

Harry licked his lips. He looked at Louis with wide eyes.

“Don’t worry,” he said. “I’d guessed as much. Can I assume I passed, since I’m here?”

Harry licked his lips again and did not reply.

“Or did I fail and that’s why I got you as my nanny?”

“Heeeey!” Harry complained with a pout. “I thought I’d gotten a promotion to annoying shadow.”

Louis took a bite of his pancakes to hide his smile.

He’d been so used to not seeing the Pack Alpha that somehow, in his head, having supper with the pack did not include him. Until he walked into the same hall where he’d had his first meal with the pack and realised the tables were arranged in the same way.

His heart started to hammer and everything around him became somewhat blurry.

Harry pulled Louis’s chair and helped him sit down. Then he went to his place next to the Pack Alpha’s seat. Louis stared at the still empty chair breathing in and breathing out.

He was going to be in the same space as the Pack Alpha, at last.

A large tray was set in the middle of the table and a jar full of beer closer to Louis.

This was it.

He breathed in and breathed out. Niall’s seat was also empty by his side. He heard Zayn’s voice saying hello and Harry replying. He couldn’t pay attention to them. He needed to—he had to—

His eyes looked for Harry. The alpha was leaning back, one arm on the Pack Alpha’s chair. He was waiting for the man, talking to Zayn without a care in the world. Zayn himself had an elbow on the table and his head resting on that hand.

They weren’t paying attention to him.

He’d better do this soon. He grasped the vial in his pocket.

He could be fast.

Harry would drink the poison first and some minutes would pass. Half an hour. The Prioress had said half an hour. Harry would still be fine by the time the Pack Alpha drank his beer.

Both of them would die.

Niall and Zayn would probably die, too.

They had done nothing wrong.

Are you really going to do it?

His hands were sweaty.

He had to, right?

That was the Goddess’s will.

Or was it.

He felt like throwing up.

There was some commotion. This time it wasn’t laughter but loud voices. Three strange alphas and the Pack Alpha. Niall was there as well. Harry and Zayn stood up.

Everyone was distracted. This was the moment he’d been waiting for.

He took the vial out and quickly opened it.

At the same time, Harry jumped away from the table, ready to intervene in the brawl.

Louis stood up with the vial in his hand. This was it. He was about to do it.

He looked up and saw Harry step in and face three aggressive alphas who actually growled and showed their teeth at him. Louis' mind went blank. He was paralysed.

Then, out of the blue, there was a tap on his shoulder. He jumped in his place and turned around, dropping the vial. There was a beta behind him. His scent was diluted by the smell of alcohol.

“What about you?” the beta asked.

Louis frowned.

“What about me?” he asked back.

“Are you also up for the taking? They say omegas here are wild like that. Will mate with anyone who asks.”

Louis jerked away. He wanted to run away but was trapped by the table.

“Excuse me?” he said.

“You’re hot and smell ripe,” he said, way too close.

“You're hideous and smell disgusting,” Louis replied, pushing him away.

“Oh, come on!”

“I wouldn’t talk that way to our Luna,” said Zayn, appearing to his right. “And if I were you, I'd back off. Now.”

“Why, you want me instead?” the beta asked.

“Oh, I dare you to put a finger on me,” Zayn replied.

“I'll do you one better, I’ll put my dick in—”

He couldn’t finish his sentence. He was promptly silenced by a black wolf tackling him down and putting an enormous paw on his head.

“What the—!”

The paw pressed his face against the floor and he didn’t manage to say anything else.

Louis was frozen in place. He saw Niall rush to the scene and help with the beta.

“Fuck, Harry,” Niall said. “You're hurt.”

The black wolf turned into Harry in front of their eyes.

“I'm fine,” he said, handing the beta to Niall.

But he wasn't.

He had been clawed all over and someone had tried to bite his right arm. It wasn’t a deep bite, but it was still open skin. Louis turned around, worried that the alphas might come for Harry again. Fortunately, they were on the floor, detained by the Pack Alpha and others.

He turned back to Harry.

“Really, I'm okay.”

“The fuck you are,” Zayn said. “You’re bleeding.”

“Eh, it’s nothing, it’ll get better in a few days,” Harry shrugged.

What? No.

“Harry,” Louis intervened. “We need to clean your wounds. Now.”

The alpha wanted to stay in the hall and help with the intruders. Louis put his foot down.

“There are a dozen wolves dealing with that right at this moment and none of them are injured because none of them were stupid enough to fight three alphas by themselves! You’re coming with me.”

Harry did, surprisingly.

Louis led him back to the pack house, pulled him to the kitchen and sat him on a chair. Then he put some water to boil and ran upstairs to get the herbs he’d been given and a shirt he could spare.

He cleaned Harry’s wounds, made a plaster and bandaged him. Harry let him do everything in silence, just following his every move with serious eyes.

Louis didn’t talk again until he finished.

“There,” he said. “Next time, please don’t go fighting rowdy alphas unnecessarily.”

Louis was standing between his legs. Harry was looking up at him. They were so close. They’d never been so close. He could smell Harry’s scent, fresh air and sunshine. If only there wasn’t a hint of blood. The corners of Louis’ lips went down.

“Sorry,” the alpha said. He frowned. “Wait, did that beta touch you? I should’ve stayed with you.”

“He didn’t,” Louis said.

Harry’s shoulders finally relaxed.

“And I have a feeling Zayn and I would have had him on the floor without your help.”

Harry smiled.

“I'd have to agree,” he said.

“Does that happen often?” Louis asked, fingers stroking Harry’s bandaged arm distractedly.

“Not very often, but yeah, it happens. Some people lie about their intentions coming here.”

“Do you fight them all?”

Harry licked his lips.

“I do,” he whispered. “I—I like to protect the pack, remember?"

Louis let out a whimper.

“I don’t want you to get hurt,” he whispered.

“Lou…” Harry said.

His eyes turned completely soft. He put his hand on Louis' waist, making him weak. Emboldened by Harry’s reaction, he put his hand on the alpha’s head and brushed his hair.

“I was fucking scared,” he confessed.

He knew it then. He wouldn’t do it. He would never kill the Pack Alpha if that meant hurting Harry.

Harry spread his palm on Louis’ lower back and stroked him, probably trying to calm him down. It didn’t calm him down. It made his heart beat faster his stomach flutter, and his whole body shiver.

Louis leaned down, eyes still on Harry’s, and he did something bold for the first time in years—he kissed the alpha. It was just a peck. It was everything. Then he kissed him again. Harry didn’t reject him. So Louis did it once more. This time, the alpha opened his mouth and licked Louis' lower lip in response.

He lost all control. His eyes closed and he whined, which somewhat led to the alpha pulling him closer. Louis was hard. He realised just how painfully so when his hard cock brushed against Harry’s chest and he gasped.

Harry growled in the middle of their kiss. And Louis got wet.

Harry’s face pulled away and his nostrils flared.

“I’m sorry,” Louis whispered, embarrassed.

“You have no right to be this fucking hot,” the alpha said at the same time, showing his fangs.

Louis’ knees were so fucking weak. He almost fell on top of Harry, only stopped by a swift manoeuvre from the alpha, who caught him and guided him down. Louis had never felt so hot as he did when he sat on Harry’s lap and felt the alpha’s dick against his own, just as hard.

“I want you to claim me,” he blurted out.

“Fuck,” Harry replied.

His hips pushed up.

Louis moaned.

“Lou… baby… Let’s talk again when I'm not hurt, you're not scared, and we don’t have four assholes to deal with, please,” he begged.

Louis would have felt embarrassed, if Harry wasn’t already looking for his lips to kiss him again.

When they finally separated, Louis knew Harry at least desired him just as much. Even if he didn’t know the truth about Louis.

“We do need to talk,” Louis whispered.

Harry’s thumb stroked his lips.

“Yes, baby.”

“But it's not—” Louis interrupted. “I'm not being ridiculous am I? We could—we could—be, right?”

“You're not,” Harry said, seriously. “And we could. If you want to.”

“I want to,” Louis said. “I never thought—but I want to. Do you?”

“Yes,” Harry replied at once. “Let’s talk tomorrow.”

“Sleep with me?” Louis begged again.

“In your nest?”

Louis felt himself blushing. It wasn’t a nest. He just had a lot of blankets, and the scarf Harry had given him, and perhaps one or two things he’d stolen from the alpha.

“Yes,” he replied in the end. “Come to my nest.”

Louis almost forgot to eat, but Harry asked him to wait a second and made him eat an apple with him. Then they went to Louis’ nest. Louis couldn’t believe the way they fit so well in it. He wanted to sleep on top of Harry but, mindful of his wounds, he just lay as close to him as possible, one arm around the alpha’s chest.

“Mine,” he murmured, already half asleep.

They didn’t have time to talk the next morning.

Harry got busy helping the Pack Alpha to deal with the assholes, as he'd put it. Louis wondered why he had to be there. He didn’t want him to be away from him when he was still hurt.

They needed to talk.

Louis needed to tell Harry the real reason why he was in his pack.

But what about the Goddess’s orders?

You know what the Goddess is like when She is not happy.

What if Harry hated him when he told him the truth?

He breathed in and breathed out, his nails digging in his thighs trying to calm down.

Harry was a good alpha. He’d listen.

The Goddess will punish you both.

But why?

Why?

Because he’d fallen in love with a kind-hearted alpha?

He was already a nervous wreck with a reeling mind when the air filled with howls. He rushed to the door of the window.

“What's going on?”

Niall was already running his way.

“The Judge is coming.”

It had been so long since he'd heard that name. He shook his head, positive he'd heard wrong.

“Who?”

“The Judge. He said it’s a normal visit to supervise that you’re doing your job well. Do you know what this is about?”

Louis felt his heart stop.

His job.

The Judge.

The Judge was here.

Was he going to punish Louis?

“I didn’t know he’d come,” Louis said.

Niall frowned and nodded.

“Got it. I’ll go tell Harry.”

Harry.

Yes.

Yes, Louis wanted Harry.

He’d protect him from the Judge.

Zayn came for him. He led him to the same building where the dining hall was. They entered through a different door.

“Sit here, Harry will come in a few.”

Louis sat. His legs were bouncing and his hands trembling.

Was the Judge already here? Where was Harry?

“Louis,” Zayn called him. “Harry will be here soon,” he repeated.

Louis nodded.

Everything seemed like a dream again. He wasn’t here. He was elsewhere. Still in the Temple about to be disciplined.

“You’re an awful omega, so disobedient all the time. If you weren’t a Tomlinson, I’d get rid of you.”

Louis' heart was hammering in his chest, remembering the hatred in the Judge’s eyes.

“Lou?”

Harry was crouching down in front of him.

“Do you know why the Judge is here?”

“To punish me,” Louis said. “Cause I’m disobedient. I’m bad.”

Harry frowned at his words.

“No, you’re not,” he said. “Are you afraid of him?”

Louis nodded.

“I won’t let him see you,” said Harry.

“But he’ll—”

He couldn’t even guess what he’d do. Slap him. Make him crawl on his knees. Starve him.

“He won’t touch you,” Harry reassured him, stroking his cheek until Louis felt himself coming back.

He blinked several times.

The Judge was here.

He wasn’t here to punish him, was he? He was here to do what Louis had not done in… fuck, more than three months in this pack.

“Harry,” he said, alarmed. “Harry, where’s the Pack Alpha?”

“He’s—welcoming the Judge,” Harry said.

“No,” Louis said, standing up. “No, Harry, we need to stop that.”

Harry stood up with him.

“Louis, I need you to calm down, please.”

“No, you don’t understand. We have to—Harry!”

“Lou, love,” Harry said, holding his arms. “Please breathe, breathe with me.”

“No, you don’t understand!” he yelled. “You need to warn the Pack Alpha. He can’t trust the Judge.”

“Believe me, love. He doesn’t.”

Okay.

Okay.

That was reasonable. The pack didn’t follow the Temple’s rules. They accepted Louis only because they were forced to. It was obvious they wouldn’t trust the Judge. The Pack Alpha would be guarded. He’d be safe.

He breathed in and out, following Harry’s cadence.

There was a knock on the door.

“Yes?” Harry asked.

Zayn pushed the door open, just an inch.

“The Judge insists on seeing Louis and making sure he’s okay,” he said. “He says if he doesn’t, he’ll need to tell Louis’ father about his disappearance in our territories. He's a Tomlinson.”

Harry paused at that. But then, he replied:

“He won’t be seeing Louis.”.

“But—” said Zayn.

Harry growled.

But Louis understood. He had to. Otherwise God knows what the Judge would tell his dad.

“I’ll go,” he said. “I’m calmer now, I promise.”

“He won’t come near you,” said Harry.

“You’ll protect me,” Louis said, looking for that certainty in Harry’s eyes. “I know you will.”

“Of course,” said Harry, leaving a peck on his forehead.

Louis stepped toward the door. Zayn didn’t move away, though.

 “Uhm, Harry,” Zayn said.

“I know,” the alpha said. “Louis,” he called.

Louis turned around, confused.

“Yeah?”

“You will see… something odd. And I will explain everything later, I promise.”

“Something odd?”

“Yes,” Harry said, but didn’t elaborate.

“What is it?”

Harry looked down. Louis turned around to face Zayn.

“What is it?” he asked again.

“Niall is pretending to be the Pack Alpha and meeting the Judge,” Zayn replied, without hesitation.

“He—what? Why?”

Zayn peered around Louis, as if prompting Harry to say more. Louis turned to the alpha again. He was getting dizzy.

“I will explain it,” the alpha said, looking him in the eyes. “But not right now, please. I don’t want to distress you more.”

Louis frowned.

“Why would I get distressed?” he asked. “I just want to know why Niall is pretending to be the Pack Alpha.”

Harry’s face looked constipated. He remained stubbornly quiet.

“It’s a measure of protection,” Zayn said.

Louis turned to him once more.

“What do you mean?”

“Nobody outside our territory knows who our Pack Alpha really is. Only we know,” Zayn said.

“B-but… Niall?”

“Safest option to face the Judge. He was the only other person, apart from the Pack Alpha, who has visited the Temple.”

“So nobody pretended to be the Pack Alpha at the temple? He was actually there?”

“Yes. The Pack Alpha refuses to be impersonated when he considers there’s real danger,” Zayn said.

There was much more Louis wanted to ask. And he had a sinking feeling in his stomach. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any time to waste. He needed to face the Judge before he started a war between the Tomlinson and the Styles packs.

“Okay,” he said, almost breathless. “Okay.”

He didn’t turn around to see Harry. He walked forward, feeling his presence right behind.

He expected his body to fill with fear at the sight of The Judge. It didn’t happen. The Judge didn’t look as impressive when surrounded by wolves from the pack, some in human form, some in wolf form.

Louis confirmed what he already knew. He was safe here.

“Louis!” the beta shrieked. “It’s so good to see you. Although I can’t say I’ve seen the level of change I expected to see with your presence in this pack.”

Louis looked down and bit his tongue. No, of course he wasn’t seeing the change he wanted to see.

“I’m sure you’ll work harder from now on, won’t you?” he egged on.

Louis nodded, almost imperceptively.

“It’s been so long,” the beta said. “And you have not done a great job, to be honest.”

Behind him, Louis heard Harry growling almost inaudibly.

“I’m sorry,” Louis finally said.

“Have you at least tried?” the Judge asked.

“Yes,” he replied.

He wasn’t lying to the Judge. He wasn’t. That was against the Goddesses’s wishes.

“Mm… you were always somewhat slow,” the beta said. “I’ll be back in two weeks, Omega Louis. And I expect to see changes here. You wouldn’t want to go back to the Temple like a naughty omega, would you?”

“No,” Louis replied sincerely, looking up.

He looked the Judge in the eyes.

“I promise you’ll see changes here,” he said.

The man smirked.

“Good omega,” he said.

Louis shuddered.

“Well, that was a heart-warming encounter,” said Niall. “But now that you’ve seen Louis is safe and sound, didn’t you say you need to go back to the Temple ASAP?”

The Judge glared at him.

“Yes,” he said.

“Well then. My wolves will guide you to our borders. Have a safe trip!”

“I don’t—”

“And for your information, we’re very happy with Louis’ services as a Luna,” Niall added. “Especially me, the Pack Alpha. Do reconsider coming back.”

If the Judge wanted to say more, he couldn’t. He was already surrounded by wolves, being guided away from the pack homes.

Harry sat at the kitchen table, facing Louis. The window was closed, the fire was out. It was cold and gloomy.

“Ask me anything,” Harry said.

“You’ve lied to me,” Louis said. It was not a question.

“Yes.” Still, Harry replied.

“You’re the Pack Alpha,” he said. Again, not a question.

“Yes.”

Louis wanted to punch him. He wanted to throw the table at him. He wanted to scream and cry and run away.

“You’ve lied to me as well,” said Harry.

“I haven’t!” Louis said.

He was thinking of the previous day's confessions. Not of the bigger issue.

“You have. At least by omission, just like me most of the time.”

Louis crossed his arms.

Harry leaned forward.

“I am the Alpha of this Pack and have been since the last war, when most of my family were killed.”

Louis almost gasped, but no. He was not going to feel sympathy for him.

“The person you were introduced to as Pack Alpha is Timothée, one of the alphas who best play the role. Perhaps a little too well. His great disadvantage is that he’s not a good fighter. You’ve also met Shawn and Liam. They’re stronger. I didn’t pick them for this job, as they’re only good when they’re not forced to lie to someone’s face.”

Louis listened to him attentively, arms crossed, brow furrowed.

“Niall only rarely has to play Pack Alpha. He’s my right hand and knows me very well since we were quite young. He trains the others and keeps them in line.”

Louis kept quiet. Harry sighed.

“When we travel somewhere or when there are newcomers begging for asylum, we introduce one of the others as Pack Alpha while I keep a close eye and protect my people from any danger. When they’re distracted by one of the guys, it’s easier for me to overpower them in case it’s necessary.”

“It’s a good strategy,” said Louis, finally speaking. “Deception,” he almost spat, bitterly.

“I don’t like it, and I didn’t do it on purpose the first time. But it’s worked. It’s kept us safe. Now it’s easier to keep doing it.”

Louis shifted in his chair. He wanted to keep hiding behind his anger. But he couldn’t. He felt too guilty.

“So you lied to me because you doubted my intentions were good.”

“Was I mistaken?” Harry asked, one eyebrow up.

Louis had to avoid his piercing eyes.

“No,” he admitted.

“Good. I’ve told you my truth. Now it’s your turn. Why did the Temple send you?”

Louis felt his heart in his throat. His breathing sped up. He kept staring at the wall. Should he lie? Could he lie to Harry?

“The Goddess… no, the Judge ordered me to kill the Pack Alpha,” he said in one breath.

Harry’s palms fell on the table. Louis flinched.

“Is that really what they told you to do?” he asked, his voice loud.

Louis nodded and pushed his chair away from the table, trying to get away from him.

“Cowards,” Harry spat.

“W-what?”

That was not the reaction he expected.

“I thought they wanted you to feed them information, not- You’re an omega. How did they expect you to kill an alpha?!”

Harry’s eyes were wild and desperate.

“P-poison,” Louis confessed. “Or a dagger.”

“You’re an omega,” Harry repeated. “If you tried to kill an alpha they’d… Oh. They wanted me to kill you. To have a good cause to finally attack us,” he realised. “They didn’t tell me you were a Tomlison. If you—the Tomlinson pack would destroy us.”

Louis felt as if the floor had disappeared.

That made sense. That made absolute sense.

“If I managed to kill you… And if I didn’t, and you killed me…”

It was a win-win situation for the Temple. And there was only a tiny sacrifice to be made. Louis.

He whimpered.

“I don’t want to die.”

“Lou,” Harry said.

The alpha stood up and walked to his side. It was so fast that Louis didn’t have time to react. Harry was already stroking his tears away.

“I’m sorry. I just wanted—I’m not. I’m not disobedient. I want to—please let me stay. I can be good.”

“I know, I know, Lou, shhh.”

“I told… the truth,” he said, stumbling on his words. “I told the truth, now and, and y-yesterday. I want you to claim me, you’ve been so good, so good.”

“Lou.”

“Please tell me you haven’t changed your mind,” he begged. “Please, please, I can—I can be good, I promise, I promise I’m not so bad.”

“You’re not bad,” Harry said. “You’re a good omega, a great omega, you’re my perfect omega.”

“Please. Please don’t lie, no more.”

“I’m not lying. Nothing we’ve lived together has been a lie, Lou.”

“I don’t want to kill you,” Louis cried. “I swear, I swear.”

Harry crouched in front of him.

“Do you still have the vial?”

Louis shook his head emphatically.

“Give me your dagger, then,” Harry ordered.

Louis struggled with his boot until he got the dagger out. He gave it to Harry, offering the grip to him. Harry took it, twirled it in his hand and offered it back to Louis. Louis took it, confused, still crying.

“What?”

Harry wrapped his hand around Louis’ and guided the dagger to his own neck. The alpha even tilted his head, leaving himself open and vulnerable. Louis panicked and almost dropped the blade, but Harry’s grip was unwavering.

This was he'd been ordered to do by the Goddess. This was Louis' worst nightmare.

“Harry!” he cried out. “What are you doing?”

“Shhh. This is how much I trust you’re telling the truth, Lou,” he said. “I’ve seen you. I’ve seen you healing from whatever they’ve done to you. I’ve seen you rejoicing in your duties as pack Luna. I’ve seen the way you look at me. I’ve felt the way your heart beats when you’re in my arms. I’ve felt the way you’ve kissed me, like you’re already mine.”

Somehow, that dramatic demonstration brought Louis back from his panicked state. He breathed in deeply.

“I'd never kill you, I'd never hurt our pack,” Louis promised.

Harry let go of his hand.

It was just Louis’ hand holding a dagger against his alpha’s neck. His alpha.

Louis threw the damned dagger to the floor.

“I love you so much,” he said.

His alpha smiled at him.

“I love you too,” he said, rubbing his nose against Louis’.

The kiss that followed was what made Louis finally settle. This was it. Harry was his alpha. He was safe. He’d always be safe by his side.

Now that Harry knew Louis was a Tomlinson, it was relatively easy to contact his father, the alpha of the Tomlinson pack. The man didn’t know his son had been given to an alpha. His surprise turned into gratefulness when Harry invited him to meet Louis.

He was a tall, muscled alpha with a thick beard. His eyes, however, filled with love when he saw his son.

“My tiny Loulou!” his dad greeted. "You're so grown up!"

“Dad,” Louis whispered in his arms.

They hadn’t hugged in years. The Temple wouldn’t allow visits.

“I’ve missed you so much.”

“You have?”

“Of course I have.”

I thought you’d forgotten about me.

“If your alpha allows it, I will visit you as often as I can.”

“You’re not… disappointed that he’s my alpha? That this is my pack?” Louis asked.

His father had always spoken ill of the Styles. Louis’ stomach was in knots.

“Hasn’t the Goddess Herself decided on this union?” he asked, face serious.

“Y-yes,” Louis confirmed.

She had. Or the Judge had. In any case, Louis himself had decided to mate Harry and stay here.

“The Goddess doesn’t make mistakes,” his father said. “If she gave you to this alpha, She has seen something that we, mere mortals, cannot.”

“They’re not like people said,” Louis explained.

“I figured as much,” his dad said. “You look happy here.”

“I am,” he confirmed.

His dad only had two questions for Harry.

“Do you believe in the Goddess?”

Harry, once more, did something Louis didn’t expect.

“I believe in her more than I did before I met Louis,” he replied.

Louis’ dad smiled.

“And do you love my son?”

“With my whole heart,” he replied.

Louis’ dad shook Harry’s hand and promised to help him with anything he needed.

The Judge was nonplussed when he came back to find the Tomlinson's Pack Alpha next to his son.

“A-Alpha,” he stammered.

“You and I have a lot to talk about,” Louis’ dad said.

Sometime in the future

“I can smell you’re here,” Louis said.

“I’m not concealing my scent,” Harry replied, walking from behind a tree.

They were at the lake, Louis some steps ahead.

“So you’re just shamelessly following me?”

“I believe my bite has made it clear that I’ll be your annoying shadow from here to eternity," Harry said.

“So you’re just going to stay there and keep watching?”

“Yes.”

Louis smirked.

“Be my guest,” he said.

And then he started undressing right in front of the alpha. He removed his coat and then unbuttoned his shirt.

“What are you doing?” the alpha asked, taken aback.

They were in public, anyone could see. He looked around and growled a warning to anyone who might be close.

“Going for a swim,” Louis replied, without a care in the world.

He removed his trousers. The Alpha gaped. Louis winked at him and put a finger in his underwear. He didn't remove it, though, the tease.

“Lou—”

The omega giggled and jumped onto the lake.

Harry let out a howl in warning.

Nobody was allowed near the lake.

And then pulled his own clothes off and jumped after Louis.

His omega giggled and splashed in his face.

“Omega,” he warned.

Louis’ blue eyes sparkled with mischief, gloriously alive.

His omega played with him for a few minutes, swimming away, kicking the water when Harry approached him. But his scent didn’t lie. His hole was wet and ready for him. Harry finally caught him in his arms and kissed him while pulling his underwear down.

“You smell so good,” Harry whispered in his ear. “Not even the water can hide how much you want me.”

Louis stopped fighting it. He pushed his own underwear down his legs with his feet. And then he jumped on Harry. He was naked. Naked except by Harry’s bite on his neck and Harry’s necklace on his chest. That letter S against his skin drove him crazy. He bit Louis’ nipples just because of it.

“Fuck me,” Louis begged so sweetly.

It was a bit of a struggle, with them floating in the water, but Harry managed to guide his cock to where they both needed it. Then he held Louis by his amazing ass as he fucked him.

“Harry,” Louis moaned. “You’re so fucking hard.”

His omega enjoyed sex so much, from the first time. His hips moved deliciously, his eyes got glassy and lost. He was wet from head to toe. His hole was the wettest of it all.

“Yeah. Can I go deeper?” Harry asked. “Harder?”

“Yes, yes, please, please…”

Harry fucked him with all his might. Going as deep as his omega’s delicious body would allow it, opening him wide. Louis clung to his neck, desperate.

“Oh god, oh god…”

Harry smirked.

“Yeah.”

Harry still didn’t believe in any gods, not completely at least. But sometimes he remembered his prayers in the Omega Goddess’ Temple and he looked at Louis, happy and thriving, his golden skin in the sun… and he couldn’t help but believe there was something he didn’t quite understand out there. A force in the universe who’d given him Louis and saved Harry and his pack.

“Harry,” Louis begged.

“Come, baby, make me feel it. Come on my dick.”

“Knot me,” Louis begged. “Breed me, breed me, oh my  god.”

He did so, coming inside his omega, making him go crazy in his arms. Knotting him so good that he saw stars.

“Feels so good. So, so good. Oh god. You're so–your knot. Oh my god, I love it,” his omega babbled on and on.

Louis’ cock pulsed between their bodies. His hole clenched around his knot.

Harry praised the Goddess who had given Louis to him.
