Chapter Text
Stars paint the night sky above a forest clearing. As if a pixelated canvas, with little pattern in its beauty. Little sound accompanies this tranquil moment, but that of bug song and the whispers of trees in the breeze. Yet within this clearing lies something foreign to everything.
There in the center of it all, a being of metal rests. A machine of human shape, with a helmet like head and triangular chest. It does not move from its resting place, nor breathe the air as all life does. It only stares into the night sky with eyes of topaz yellow and hexagon shape. This continued for some time, until a sound was heard from the tree line.
From the edge of the clearing,a small brown furred creature peaks from behind a fallen branch. The creature observes the still machine with curiosity, slowly approaching said machine. As the creature grew closer, so did the temperature grow. What was once a cool night felt as if it were noon when the creature was next to the machine. The creature was about to touch the metal figure until a whirring sound emitted from the machine as it began to stand up. As the machine stood up, the creature stepped back as the large being looked down and locked eyes with the creature.
“And what might you be doing little one?” Spoke the machine with its head tilted slightly. The creature made no sounds as it starred in awe, until it once more met the machine's eyes and made a sound with a tone that spoke of an excited greeting. “Eevee!” “Eevee you say?” The machine spoke with amusement. The newly identified eevee nods its head, as if having understood the machine's words. “Quite the curious one huh?” The eevee stood up a little bit straighter, looking into the machine's eyes with determined brown eyes.
The machine gained a raised yellow eyebrow above its right eye, amusement only growing by the creature's actions. “Brave too for such a small creature” The eevee puffed its fur and began making it look bigger. The machine put their hands up in a show of false surrender. “Alright alright, sorry I called you brave.” The eevee stopped puffing their fur, satisfied with the machine's response for the moment. That is until the eevee reconsiders the machine's words, and enters a battle stance. The machine tilts their head to the side, amused expression growing by the small creature's attempt at intimidation. “A battle huh? Well, don't keep me waiting then. Show me what you got!”
The eevee with a cry of its name and a display of speed, began to circle the machine. The machine looked surprised for a moment before keeping focus on their “opponent”. The eevee, thinking the machine's movements to be slower than their own, attempted to tackle the large machine head on. With speed faster than ever perceived, the machine raised their right arm in a fist for a counter attack. Time seemed to slow for the eevee as they saw the fist grow closer to them. The eevee closed their eyes but a blink, the next met the yellow eyes of the machine. They were quite smug in the eevee's opinion. “Your speed surprised me, I'll give you that. Sadly, you can't counter being scruffed now can you?”
The eevee continued to look the machine in the eyes before returning with a smug look of their own and doing something the machine never expected and licked the machine's faceplate. Eevee dropped from surprise, the machine stood frozen for a moment before focusing on the now laughing eevee on the ground. As the laugh ended, so did the machine's surprise, in its place a mix of amusement as they speak once more. “Well played partner. Well played indeed.”
The moment continues until a beeping sound is heard from a satchel unseen by either president. The beeping continued, having finally drawn the attention of those around. The machine and eevee looked at each other for a moment before the machine reached for the beeping object. Said device looked similar to a touchscreen phone with some key differences, with it being white as well as the strange gold symbol on the back. The device continues to beep in hand, now assumed to be a phone by the machine, only stopping once the screen faces is in the machine's sight.
Curious, the eevee paws at the machine's leg, attempting a closer look at the strange device. Placing the eevee on their shoulder to put them at equal eye levels, the machine turned on the screen. Both saw the options available, those being dex, map, call and meet. Wanting to know who or what wants to meet them, the machine expected multiple things when they selected the option.
A portal and a voice were only half expected. “INTERLOPER” A voice spoke, drawing the machine’s attention. What the machine saw was less than intimidating. ”Llama.” The source did indeed look like a llama, though it ignored the comment. “You thought to enter my creation without my knowledge?” Though rhetorical, this still garnered a response. A sarcastic response. ”To be fair, it wasn't intentional.” “Silence”
The voice paused, both to regain composure and to be sure their command was followed. “What is your goal now that you have entered my domain? Do you intend to respect that which lives, or do you desire its destruction?” The machine pondered the possibilities for a moment, taking note that they really don't need to stay in this world. Yet upon looking at the eevee held in their hand, they met eye to eye once more, and the machine saw their answer as clear as the stars. ”To be blunt, I don't have a goal here. As you said before, I'm an intrusion to your world. A rightfully dangerous intrusion at that. However, with my introduction to this little one, my interest has peaked.”
The entity narrowed their eyes with suspicion. “And what would that entail mortal?” The machine met the entity's gaze with their own. A smug look on their face, the machine's eyes seemed to burn brighter with spite with their chosen response. ”Only one way to learn the answer now isn't there?” Both remained silent. Machine and creator locked eyes, both waiting for the other to make their move.
The silence could not last forever, as it was brought to an end when a third made their presence known. “Eevee eev!” Both machine's and creator's eyes widen with surprise as their attention is drawn to the creature currently within the machine's grasp. ”Kind of forgot I was holding you to be honest.” “I was too focused on this current threat to notice you little one. Apologies.” The Eevee made an unamused face, as they started to repeat their name multiple times in what appeared to be an explanation of sorts. With this short distraction, tensions had been brought to an end.
Sensing hostilities to be gone, the machine spoke to the creator. ”Apologies for earlier, I've met too many arrogant beings of power. My name is Nitron and I only wish to explore what this world has to offer.” The creator eyed the machine warily but did not push a response. “Very well. If you wish to traverse this world I will not stop you, so long as your word remains true.” Nitron nodded along, already having accepted the terms given. ”Acceptable. I must ask though, where exactly in the world am I?” “Your journey starts in the region known as Kalos.” Nitron hummed in acknowledgement, still confused but informed. “Our meeting must come to an end, for your journey must begin. I will keep watch of you and your actions throughout your journey.” The portal began to close with one last message for the machine.
“And welcome to the world of pokemon.” With those final words, the portal closed, leaving the machine and eevee once more beneath the night sky. Nitron looked to the sky, bright stars and a brighter moon overhead. Nitron sat down beneath a tree, eevee curled beside them, already having fallen asleep. ”The world of pokemon huh? This will be interesting.” Nitron remained silent, enjoying the bug song and leaf winds of the night. For pokemon are no longer against a simple trainer, but a machine. ”Interesting indeed”
