“That is the stupidest job you could pick.”
“You do it. Or a version of it.”
“Exactly,” Secunit mutters, glaring hard at the StationSec logo on Mizan’s shoulder patch. “Did your Second Mom approve this?”
"She stopped allowing or disallowing things when I turned eighteen---you know how that works," Mizan says mildly, almost apologetically. He'd been expecting pushback when Secunit came home from its latest trip with ART to find him patrolling Preservation Station. But he wasn't sorry.
"Why?"
"Why what?"
"Why this?"
Mizan hitches his shoulders in a half-shrug and smiles. It's easy.
"I grew up watching you."
Notes:
There's a full-length fic in the works about Mizan because the idea of one of Mensah's kids going into security and Secunit being just SO aggravated about it is hilarious to me.
