Heist of the Century

Summary:

"We can do a heist." Jack said as a joke, "like in Ocean 11 or something." He slowly looked around the table to see no one laughing but instead actually thinking about it, "Guys I was joking..."

Isack Hadjar, a bored and stressed college student, wants to do something with his life. Something extravagant. So him and his friends decide to make history by executing the heist of the century.

Or

The 2025 rookies are planning a heist to rob the Louvre.

(Inspired by the Louvre heist 2025)

Notes:

Had this idea brewing since the day of the Louvre heist and I need to write more about the 2025 rookies

I will add tags as I go and add warning before any chapter if needed

Chapter Text

A tired and heavy sigh left Isack's lips as he sipped his coffee. It was bitter and far too hot, but he didn't care. Whatever could wake him up at this point as he was practically walking dead across the courtyard.

It was far too early for an English lecture, nearly 8 am. Clouds wrapped the sky, hiding the sun and leaving a cool breeze which skimmed Isack's sleeveless arma. Someone bumped his shoulder with too much energy for an early morning.

"Isack!" His friend said with too much cheer in his voice.

Isack grumbled as he was already feeling drained, "Gabi... It's too early in the morning for this-"

"Oh come on, your always dead. Do you even sleep at night?" Gabriel Bortoleto asks as they fall in step together.

"I was up all night studying for a huge test later. Not my fault my professor is an ass and doesn't let her students rest for two seconds."

"Mhm. You see I don't have that problem." Gabi said with a smirk.

Isack took a big gulp of his coffee, letting the liquid burn his throat on the way down which made him wince slightly. "Stop bragging... I understand your cooking degree is you making cupcakes and shit."

Gabi gasped sarcastically, "it's much more then that mate." He smacked Isack's shoulder, "At least mine has an outcome. You just look at old art of naked people."

Isack shook the finger of his free hand, "No, it's much more than that. Each art work tells a story, and how they're made is so interesting-" Gabi starts fake snoring, earning him a smack on the head.

"OW-!"

"That's what you get for being a dickhead." Isack said but with no bite behind it.

The two boys continued on their walk as they made their way to English class. Isack only wishes to sleep the day away, to sink into his bed and never get up, but sadly that wasn't a choice. If he wanted that degree he needs to go to class.

The day went on just like that, another boring day which felt so repetitive to the Frenchman. Lunch finally rolled around and he collapsed in a chair between Oliver Bearman and Jack Doohan, dramatically letting his head fall to the table. A loud thump echoed across the table.

Oliver and Jack looked at each other with a confused glare.

"Did you just die?" Oliver asked, poking Isack's side.

Isack grumbled in response.

"Definitely dead."

"I'm sure he's fine-" Jack argued with an eye roll.

Gabi and another boy, Kimi Antonelli, came walking up to the table.

"Oh, he's still dead." Gabi deadpanned.

Ollie let out a victorious laugh, "Ha told you!" He smacked Jack's arm by reaching over the dead one.

Jack gave an annoyed glare, "Oh shut up-"

"Why is he dead?" Kimi asked confused, opening the food box in front of him to reveal a salad.

"He stayed up all night." Gabi explained as he takes out his own food, it being a sandwich he made earlier.

Kimi smirked as he fiddled with his fork, "With his roommate I imagine..." He slyly said, sending everyone else into a laughing fit.

Isack, however, wasn't laughing. He whipped his head up quickly with wide eyes and red cheeks, "What?!? No!! He was sleeping the entire time!" Isack objected as he felt his whole body tingle. They all gave a look as if they know something they shouldn't. Isack would be lying to himself if he didn't say he might have a small, tiny, itty bitty crush on his older roommate. He would never ask that, especially not to his friends. "It's true!" He tired to sound convincing, but based on their stares he knows he's failing.

"Mhm, suree." Ollie teased, earning him a punch by Isack.

"I hate all of you..." Isack let his head fall again on the table with a thump.

"If you hate us you wouldn't be here right now." Kimi pointed out.

"You would be with your perfect roommate-" Jack added. Isack kicked him under the table which made him wince.

"Shut up or I'll start bring up Colapinto." Isack threatened, which instantly shut up the Australian.

Soon lunch ended and classes went on again, all five boys dreading it. The day felt as if it was being dragged in forever. The night took too long to get here in Isack's opinion.

Finally, the day has ended. No more classes, no more dealing with classmates or professors, only him and the comfort of his room. He pushed through his dorm room and immediately climbed in his bed, feeling the exhaustion that's been following him since morning.

His roommate, Liam Lawson, was at his desk doing homework when he saw the Freshman kick his shoes off and fall face first into his pillow.

"Someone had a long day it seems." Liam said, spinning his chair fully to face Isack.

"Tell me about it.." Isack spoke muffled against the pillow. He felt himself melt into the bed as the tiredness smashed into him like a train.

Liam span back towards the desk as typing filled the room. "How did the art history test go?"

Isack rolled on his back with a sigh, rubbing his eyes, "It went ok... I was so tired though I could barely read the words"

"Should have taken the redbull I offered you."

"I am not taking that disgusting sugar free one you drink." Isack argued. He grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around him, not even bothering to get change. He instantly felt himself warm even with Liam's fan blaring at full power.

Isack's life went something like this everyday, a constant pattern that never wavers or changes. He stays up almost all night studying, drags himself to class, eats, pisses, class, then falls on his bed to take a 3 hour nap until studying again. Sometimes he would go to the gym, but the majority of the time he's too exhausted to actually do any of his workouts. The weekends were different yes, but him, Kimi, Ollie, Jack, and Gabi weren't the most popular of people. They never get invited to parties or huge group hangouts, so the most they do is hang out in one of their dorms and drink whatever cheap beer they can get. The constant same pattern that never ended. He was a poor college student who feels like hes wasting his life away and not making a difference in the world.

The sound of a rolling chair caught his attention. Liam pushed himself to his feet and closed his laptop.

"It's nearly dinner, want me to get you anything?" He asks as he grabs his keys and wallet, looking over at Isack with soft eyes.

Isack slightly sat up, looking above his blanket, "Whatever sandwich thing you see first."

Liam gave a nod and left. The room was darkish, only the small bit of orange hue that snuck through the window from the sunset that was almost gone. Isack felt himself doze off, falling into a deep sleep. He didn't hear when Liam got back, a container full of food that was much more then the sandwich Isack asked for. Liam slipped the food in the fridge before finding a pair of pajamas and going to their small shared bathroom to change.

Liam then went to his own bed, airpods in his ears, and fell asleep.

Isack at some point woke up, seeing the food in the fridge and ate it before going back to studying.

Yep. Always the same pattern.

-

A week has passed since then. Isack and his friends are outside during lunch, nonsense conversation happening between them.

"No, Kimi, I do NOT have a crush on Colapinto." Jack argued, waving his sub sandwich around as if proving his point.

"But you obviously do!" Kimi asserted as he took a bite of his dinosaur chicken nugget.

Jack rolled his eyes in annoyance, "What proof do you have? Hmm?"

"You constantly talk about him." Kimi started.

"Always point him out in a crowd." Oliver added.

"Everything has to be related to him in some way." Isack now chipped in.

"And didn't you ask me that one time if your, and I quote, 'outfit was nice' since you were going to do a partner project with him?" Gabi said as the final point.

Jack's cheeks flushed a bright shade of red, "That's not- ugh your all assholes." He grumbled as he takes a bite of his food, looking down at the box it came in. Everyone else laughed at Jack's flustered state, not convincing anyone that there's nothing going on between him and the Argentinian.

Isack was only half paying attention to the conversation as he flipped through his art history text book, seeing the various different paintings and artist within it. The Kiss by Gustav Klimt. Café Terrace at Night by Vincent van Gogh. Starry Night Over the Rhône also by Vincent van Gogh, one of Isack's favorite.

He stared at it for a while, the color contrast with the dark blue night to the light of the yellow, the line paint strokes. It showed van Gogh perspective of the Rhône river at night, the boats floating within the water, and the people who stood to the side admiring it all. Isack couldn't help but think-

What am I doing with my life?

He's here, stuck doing the same classes with the same brainless people, scrapping for money on the floor in order to afford lunch from the school, constantly studying when he could be out, exploring the world, seeing beautiful sights like what's in the painting. He could be making a difference, making a name for himself. Doing anything else.

Gabi, who was next to Isack, noticed the French boy disassociation. He bumped Isack's knee with his own, "Hey, you good?" He asked, tilting his head.

Isack finally teared his eyes away from the book to meet the Brazilians. "I'm fine. It's just- don't you feel bored of life?" He asked, the question coming out before he could take it back.

It catches everyone's attention. "What do you mean?" Jack asked with a head tilt.

He threw his hands on the table, trying to think of a way to phrase it, "mm- like do you feel you could be doing more?"

"I mean, isn't that the point of graduating? Like after college? To do more then?" Oliver questioned as he steals a dino nugget from Kimi.

Isack shook his head, "But will we? Realistically will we?" He said more as a statement than anything. "You and Kimi will have office jobs working in marketing." He pointed at the two who are both communication majors, "Gabi will be stuck in a kitchen. Jack will also be stuck in an office job-"

"Ugh, don't remind me..." Jack grumbled, him being a computer engineering major.

"Exactly!" Isack threw his hands towards Jack, making the Australian flinch, "And I'll be stuck at some grocery store job."

Gabi shook his head, "No you wont-"

"Yes, I will. Art majors don't get you anywhere, and even worse I'm an art history major."

The table became quiet, an awkward eeriness spread between the boys. But it's true, right? Isack wasn't lying. Realistically, they will live boring lives behind a desk, working minimum wage, and living miserable lives.

"So," Ollie started, his voice shallow as he picked at his chip bag, "what should we do about it?"

Isack shrugs, looking down at his food defeated, "I don't know."

"We can do a heist." Jack said as a joke, "like in Ocean 11 or something." He slowly looked around the table to see no one laughing but instead actually thinking about it, "Guys I was joking..."

"But what if we could?" Gabi added, Isack practically feeling the excitement vibrating out the Brazilian.

Oliver shoved a bunch of chips in his mouth with a grand smile, "We could literally pull off the best heist in history."

"We can be in history books." Kimi added, moving his hand to cover Ollie's mouth.

Isack smirked as he leaned into the table, feeling that eerie feeling from earlier float away, "We can be rich."

Jack waved his arms around, "Wait wait wait. We can't be serious about this." He said sternly, being the voice of reason, "First of all, it's illegal. Second of all, we've never stolen anything-"

"Well... Oliver and Kimi already broke the law with the whole credit card fraud incident." Isack pointed out.

The two boys gasp, "It's was on accident." Oliver argued.

"And we didn't get caught." Kimi added, as if that adds anything to the argument, "So technically it's wasn't illegal."

Jack shakes his head, taking a big gulp of his water. Maybe he's trying to secretly drown himself, Isack can't tell. "This is a terrible idea. What will we steal anyways?"

Everyone sat quiet, thinking about the possibilities.

It was like a light bulb lit in Isack's head, "The Louvre." He said, rethinking it through.

"The Louvre? In Paris?" Gabi asked with a raised brow. The rest of the boys stared at the Frenchman.

"I'm an art history major. I can tell you every art work and how much they're worth. Yes their security, but with the right plan we can successfully rob the Louvre. Make the heist of the century!" Isack said, maybe a bit too loud to the point it caught the attention of a certain Kiwi who sat close by.

The rest of the boys looked at each other with a grin.

"So?" Isack pushed himself to his feet, standing awkwardly between the table and bench, "who's in?"

Gabi looked at Kimi, who looked at Oliver, who looked at Jack.

"I'm in." Gabi said, standing with Isack.

"Me too." Kimi added.

"Me three." Oliver added.

Jack looked at the rest of his friends who stood. He let out a defeated groan, letting his head droop before saying, "Fuck it. I'm in too." He stands up as well.

They made a secret pact during that lunch. A secret that could change their lives for the better or worse.

They packed their things and agreed to meet at the end of the day in Oliver's and Kimi's dorm.

"We could literally make history!" Oliver skipped with too much excitement, making the rest laugh and Jack debated his life choices.

"The rookies will be rich with insane dad lore!" Kimi added, lacing his arm with Ollie so they skip together.

Isack shook his head with a grin. How hard could it be? We just need to keep it under wraps. That can't be hard. Isack thought as they headed to their next class.

Little did they know they also caught the attention of a certain Argentinian who stood not so far away, eating his sandwich.

Notes:

I'm so excited to write this omg.

So to be clear these are the rookies majors:
Isack- art history major
Ollie & kimi- communications major
Jack & Franco- computer engineering major
Gabi- culinary major

Ik it doesn't match the greatest but SOMEONE HAS TO BE THE ART NERD. And as the art nerd (me, an art major) I picked isack aka my no.1 (tied with Liam)

Liam's major will be talked about next part but it's nothing crazy he's just in business.

It's short ik but the next SHOULD be longer trust (don't trust)

ANYWAYS HOPE YOU ENJOYED I WILL TRY TO UPDATE SOON (I have two other fics to update as well so bare with me)
