Work Text:
Vampires are real. Buck has known this for…. well, he’s always just known. Or, he’s always thought so anyway.
When he was younger, all the kids would talk about the stories of the vampires that co-existed with humans but they were always told in exaggerated, scary voices because to a bunch of ten year olds, they were just stories.
It wasn’t until he was 12 years old that Maddie sat him down and explained to him in a serious and careful tone that vampires are real. He’d started laughing at first, but one look at Maddie’s face that hadn’t changed from the serious expression she’d had on when she first sat him down, and Buck knew she was telling the truth.
He always kinda believed in those stories when he first heard them but he’d kept that fact to himself.
Buck thought it felt like the reverse Santa Claus where instead of being told he’s not real by the grown ups in your life, you’re instead told vampires are real and you should always be careful because whilst a lot of vampires maintained a diet of strictly animal blood and “donations”, some used more… traditional methods. And you never know what kind of vampire you’re dealing with if you ever come across one.
In all the years following, Buck desperately wanted to meet a vampire but… he never did. Not through a lack of trying, though.
He’d research and go to the places where people had said they’d encountered a vampire, his own curiosity keeping him in these spots for hours upon hours. But he never got lucky. Or unlucky, depending who you asked.
Buck’s fascination with vampires is something that runs deep within him. He’s watched the documentaries, the movies, he’s read the books and he’s even included them in his own books. Vampires get a bad name amongst humans but not to Buck.
The existence of vampires was always the craziest thing Buck had ever heard in his entire life.
Until now.
Because now, famous actor and infamous vampire Eddie Diaz wants to meet with Buck.
Buck prided himself on his writing. It took him a while to get to the point he’s at now with his writing career, but he did it. His hard work, gruelling hours of drafts and editing and rewrites and endless tears paid off to the point where he’s now earned acclaims such as best-selling for his two published books and he has a further 3 books deal with his publisher.
It was all stuff he dreamed of. Except…. Buck is a fiction writer. He’s strictly only ever written stories concocted in his head.
So, why did Eddie Diaz ask for Buck specifically to write his biography?
Buck had questioned the legitimacy of the email a hundred times when it came through to his inbox just under a week ago.
Well, the email had actually been sent to his agent who then forwarded it to him and Buck had immediately been on the phone to said agent and to his publishers who both confirmed that it was real. Every bit of information had been verified and so the only thing left to do was for Buck to accept the offer.
Every instinct in his body was screaming at him to accept. Buck will be the first to admit he’s a big fan of Eddie Diaz. Plus, the idea of not only being able to meet an actual vampire but to interview a vampire was something beyond his wildest dreams. Still, Buck didn’t know if he was the right guy for the job.
There are so many writers out there that focus on biography and non fiction writing so why would Eddie Diaz, with all of his connections, not choose them and instead go for a - yes, successful but still - small fiction writer? The whole thing seemed… off to Buck. He wished he could talk to Maddie about this, but he was under strict NDA restrictions which meant he only had his agent and publisher to talk to. And they were great but it would look amazing for them if Buck did this, so their opinions would probably be biased.
Buck had less than 24 hours to formally accept or decline the offer and the pressure had been mounting.
Buck sighs as he unlocks the front door to his loft. It had been a long day of meetings and writing and editing in coffee shops.
He frowns as he walks into the pitch black apartment. He definitely left a lamp on before he left home this morning so unless there’d been a power outage he hadn’t been aware of, there’s no reason for his home to be enveloped in a darkness that makes his skin crawl.
Buck heads towards the window and despite the darkness of the evening, the soft glow of the street lamps outside and the lights streaming in behind the curtains in other people’s windows tells him there probably hasn’t been a power outage. He also can’t shake the feeling that he isn’t alone.
‘Don’t be afraid,’ a voice, soft and alluring, tells him. In his head.
‘What the fuck??’ Buck yelps. Because he knows that voice. He recognises that voice.
Eddie Diaz.
‘A-are you here?’ Buck asks out loud, feeling sweat beading at his hairline.
‘On your couch,’ Eddie responds, out loud this time, before the lights flicker on.
Buck turns towards the couch and he feels his breath catch in his throat at the sight.
Eddie sits against the couch as though he’s been there a thousand times. His brown hair is perfectly styled and his eyes… his eyes are an intense syrupy golden brown. Buck’s only ever seen photos of Eddie’s eyes but they don’t capture the true beauty of them. They’re striking in a way that only vampires posses. He doesn’t want to look away but he forces himself to. He takes in the sight of Eddie’s flawless skin, his razor sharp jaw and his exposed arms that look so human that if it weren’t for the very much not human eyes, Buck wouldn’t know any better about what Eddie is.
Eddie clears his throat then, reminding Buck of his very real presence in Buck’s apartment.
‘W-what are you doing?’ Buck asks. His heart is thumping loudly in his chest and he can hear his blood pulsing in his ears, a mix of fear and adrenaline.
‘Waiting for you to get home,’ Eddie says simply, by way of explanation.
Buck blinks at him incredulously.
‘I mean… why were you sitting in the dark?’
‘I didn’t want to scare you,’ Eddie responds, shrugging as he stands up.
Buck instinctively takes a small step backwards and he can see a smirk on Eddie’s face as he does.
‘So you thought you’d wait in the dark and then talk to me telepathically instead?’
‘Would you have preferred turning the light on and seeing a vampire sitting on your couch without warning?’ Eddie counters.
‘I’d prefer you to have knocked like a normal human.’
‘Ah, well, I’m technically not human so…’ Eddie trails off.
Buck looks at him with a deadpan expression.
‘Don’t you need to be invited into someone’s property?’
Now Eddie fixes him with a look. ‘You and I both know that’s a myth.’
Buck’s mouth falls open but he doesn’t say anything because he does know that’s a myth.
His gaze trail to Eddie’s eyes, only to find them already fixed on Buck. The look is so magnetic and overwhelming that Buck finds himself taking a step forward.
‘Did you do that?’ Buck asks hoarsely.
‘No, I can’t control you,’ Eddie responds.
Buck raises an eyebrow disbelievingly at him and Eddie sighs.
‘I have the power to compel, yes. But I don’t like to use it very often and I certainly didn’t use it just now,’ Eddie amends.
‘Why are you here?’ Buck asks again slowly, taking another step forward.
Eddie, to his credit, doesn’t move. Simply letting Buck take control in this dance they have going. Or, he’s letting Buck think he’s in control.
Buck is staring directly at Eddie’s face and watching him closely so he can see the muscles twitching in his face as he tries to suppress a smirk that Buck wants to kiss off his face.
As soon as the thought crosses Buck’s mind, Eddie ducks his head down but Buck can see the smirk anyway.
‘Stop listening to my thoughts,’ Buck whines, slightly petulantly.
Eddie looks up at Buck through his eyelashes. A picture of innocence.
He holds his hands up defensively. ‘I can’t help that, but I promise I’m not controlling you or this… dance.’
‘Are you going to tell me why you’re here?’ Buck says, taking another hesitant step forward.
‘You haven’t responded to my offer,’ Eddie says simply, his gaze unmoving from watching Buck. Ironically, he looks like he wants to consume Buck and the thought makes his cock twitch in his pants.
‘I still have time,’ Buck points out.
Eddie hums in response.
‘You do,’ he agrees. ‘But I guess I just wanted to know what the hold up was. I thought you’d jump at the opportunity.’
Buck cocks an eyebrow at Eddie.
‘You say that like you know me.’
Eddie tilts his head to the side and his eyes look like they’re glowing. ‘Maybe I do,’ he responds.
Buck watches as Eddie’s eyes travel down Buck’s face and throat and eventually pauses at the side of Buck’s neck. His pulse point.
He doesn’t respond to Eddie. He doesn’t know what to say to that.
‘Maybe I’m a fan of your books,’ Eddie continues.
‘Are you?’
Eddie nods and despite the warnings he’d heard countless times in his lifetime about trusting vampires, Buck believes him.
He must think as much because Eddie’s eyes find his own again and he grins at Buck.
Buck frowns. ‘Where are your…’ he trails off, gesturing to Eddie’s - lack of - fangs.
Eddie raises his eyebrows at him.
‘I know you know that we don’t just walk around with our fangs on show,’ he says, his tone a combination of reprimanding and teasing.
‘That’s the second time you’ve said something like that,’ Buck points out. ‘How are you so certain that I’m well versed on my vampire knowledge?’
‘One of the main characters in your debut novel is a vampire. And the way you described them… the way you spoke about them… not many humans speak about us like that. Normally, we’re monsters and… rightfully so.’
‘You’re not a monster,’ Buck says, frowning.
Eddie lets out a humourless chuckle. ‘I’m a monster, Buck.’
You called me Buck, he thinks.
Your preferred name, no? Eddie responds in Buck’s head.
Buck lets out a shaky exhale and nods. There’s something about Eddie knowing that-
You put me on such a pedestal and you don’t even know me.
You’re not a monster and you don’t deserve to be treated like one, Buck responds quickly.
The conversation is all taking place in Buck’s head, but Buck and Eddie’s eyes stay in a locked, heated gaze.
I’ve killed before. I haven’t killed a human in a long time. But I… I killed another vampire recently.
Buck’s eyes widen at that.
‘Told you I’m a monster,’ Eddie murmurs softly, out loud.
Buck raises an eyebrow at him.
‘You’re literally in my head. Am I thinking that?’ he questions, slightly exasperated.
‘No.’ Eddie responds stiffly, but with a hint of amusement in his tone.
I… was doing some surveillance. Of you. Last month, Eddie tells Buck in his head.
You were stalking me?
Buck watches Eddie closely, his heart beating even faster and the blood rushing to his cock whilst he waits for a response.
That should not be turning you on.
I’m not sure you’re really in a place to scold me right now.
Eddie sighs but Buck can see the look in his eyes. He knows this is affecting Eddie too.
After I read your books, I… I felt drawn to you. I started looking you up on the internet, but it wasn’t enough. I wanted more. Of you. Turns out, I didn’t have to wait long because apparently you just love to visit vamp hot spots, don’t you?
Buck’s breathing becomes heavier and he can feel Eddie watching the rising and falling of his chest.
I was leaving a friend’s house when I heard you. I was going to go and find you but then… I heard another vampire. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who heard you. This guy was… he wasn’t interested in you. He was interested in… dinner.
‘I’ve never been attacked by a vampire!’ Buck insists. ‘Tonight is the first time I’m even meeting one.’
No, you weren’t attacked by a vampire. He never got the chance to go near you.
Eddie’s eyes have darkened and his posture stiff again.
The vampire you killed… that was for me?
Buck’s breath hitches in his throat and he takes one last step forward until his and Eddie’s chests are close to touching.
You can’t just do that, Buck. You can’t hang around where monsters are. You act like your life means nothing. Like you’re expendable. You’re not. Your life is beautiful and precious.
Buck aches to close the distance between them. He wants nothing more than to reach out and to grab Eddie. He wants to be closer to him.
‘Fuck, are you even listening to me?’ Eddie sighs in frustration, taking a step backwards and putting distance between them. ‘I just told you to not act like you’re expendable and you ignore me and instead put yourself dangerously close to a vampire that could rip your throat out before you can even say stop.’
You won’t hurt me. Besides, you can’t lecture me about putting myself in danger when you were the one who came here.
Eddie sighs in frustration but thankfully doesn’t move away when Buck steps closer to him again.
‘I know you’re not compelling me. And I trust you. More than you’d probably want me to,’ Buck says and Eddie lets out a huff in agreement. ‘But I can feel something here. Between us. And you can’t tell me you don’t feel it to. I can see it in your eyes. You said it yourself… you were drawn to me.’
‘This was a mistake. I shouldn’t have come here. I’ll get my agent to rescind the offer and we can compensate you for wasting your time,’ Eddie says firmly, moving past Buck to leave.
Buck really doesn’t know what posses him to do so, but he reaches out and grabs Eddie by the wrist, not wanting him to go.
An animalistic hiss leaves Eddie’s mouth and in a flash, Buck is pinned down flat on the couch. Buck’s wrists are held in place at the top of his head by one of Eddie’s hands and Eddie straddles his lap.
‘Are you crazy?’ Eddie hisses. ‘You just grab a vampire like that?’
‘I- I didn’t want you to leave,’ Buck says, his voice raspy.
Eddie’s face softens and his grip on Buck’s wrists loosens and he brings them close to his face. ‘I’m sorry. I told you I shouldn’t have come. I didn’t want to hurt you and now…’
‘I’m not hurt,’ Buck whispers.
Eddie frowns as he examines Buck’s wrists, ignoring his response. He brings one of Buck’s wrists close to his mouth, letting his lips graze against the delicate skin as he speaks.
‘What about now? Still trust me?’ Eddie murmurs.
I trust you. You didn’t hurt me and you still won’t.
Eddie scoffs but he leaves a gentle kiss on both of Buck’s wrists before releasing his grip on them.
Buck shifts underneath Eddie and moves to sit up. He watches Eddie’s face as his hands hold onto either side of Eddie’s waist, but he doesn’t stop him.
‘I can see them now,’ Buck whispers, his gaze falling to Eddie’s slightly open mouth, where his fangs are poking out.
‘Vampire instinct. My body felt attacked and responded accordingly,’ Eddie responds, just as softly. ‘I really am sorry. I would never mean to cause you any harm, sweetheart,’ he says, cupping Buck’s jaw with one of his hands.
‘I shouldn’t have grabbed you. That was stupid. I don’t want you to feel like you’re under threat,’ Buck responds.
‘Yes, you shouldn’t have grabbed me but not for that reason. You shouldn’t have grabbed me because I’m a monster and I could have hurt you.’
‘If I’m not allowed to act like I’m expendable then you’re not allowed to call yourself a monster,’ Buck tells him.
Eddie laughs at that and Buck feels his heart fluttering at the very sound of it.
I want to kiss you, Buck thinks.
I know.
You want to kiss me too.
Eddie doesn’t respond to that and so Buck cautiously pulls him closer. Their faces are so close that their noses brush together.
‘You don’t know when to leave well enough alone, do you?’ Eddie murmurs against Buck’s lips.
‘Says the one who started this whole thing because they became obsessed with me and started stalking me,’ Buck responds breathlessly.
‘You might be the only human turned on by the idea of a vampire stalking you,’ Eddie mutters.
‘I think any other vampire stalking me would be… intimidating. But not you. I trust you.’
‘You don’t even know me,’ Eddie whispers, hesitantly moving his hand before raking it gently through Buck’s hair and lightly tugging at it.
‘But you like it, don’t you?’ Buck teases, their lips still grazing together. He aches to push his tongue into Eddie’s mouth and press it against one of his fangs. ‘You like that I want you as much as you want me.’
‘I shouldn’t want you. You’re beautiful and I would just ruin you-’
‘No,’ Buck cuts him off quickly. ‘Stop. Don’t say that. You’re perfect.’
‘Buck, I just told you I killed another vampire last month.’
‘You did that to protect me,’ Buck says softly, the thought sending a thrill through his body.
‘Of course you’d like that,’ Eddie mutters, but his eyes are gleaming in amusement as they track down Buck’s body and pause on his crotch. Eddie raises an eyebrow before rolling his hips forward from where he’s still straddling Buck’s lap and grinds down onto him.
Buck gasps at the sensation, pulling at Eddie’s waist, desperately needing him closer.
‘Eddie,’ Buck moans as Eddie continually grinds down on him.
‘What is it, baby?’ Eddie murmurs.
‘More. Need…’ Buck gaps.
‘Tell me what you need,’ Eddie coos.
‘You. I need you.’
Instantly, Eddie flips them so that he’s lying on the couch and Buck is straddling his thighs.
Eddie grabs Buck down to him by a fistful of his shirt and crashes their lips together in a rough kiss.
Buck moans into the kiss, licking into Eddie’s mouth desperately and hungrily, trying to fight the urge to drag his tongue on the sharpness of Eddie’s fangs.
Eddie pulls back from the kiss, holding Buck’s jaw in his hand as he does.
‘Do you trust me?’ Eddie asks, his voice gruff.
‘I already told you I do,’ Buck responds.
‘Do it, then,’ Eddie whispers, his eyes darting down to his own fangs.
Buck’s eyes widen in surprise at the permission before moving slowly forward again. He kisses Eddie softly before pushing his tongue back into his mouth. He hesitates only for a split second before his tongue traces along Eddie’s fangs, revelling at the feeling of them on his tongue.
He stops at one of the fangs, pushing his tongue firmer into it.
Buck feels Eddie’s body tense underneath him as the hand that was on Buck’s jaw moves to cup the back of his neck instead in a tight grip.
Buck loses himself in the feeling of Eddie’s fang pressing sharply into his tongue and the way his already hard cock aches and strains against his jeans.
He doesn’t even feel the blood starting to trickle along his tongue from the piercing of Eddie’s fang against it.
Buck pulls back breathlessly when he starts to taste the metallic feeling of the blood in his mouth.
Eddie’s hand remains on him and his entire body is still. His eyes have become a darkened version of their usual colour, with a hint of red forming in the iris.
Buck doesn’t move or say a word as he watches Eddie.
Eddie leans forward suddenly, taking Buck’s tongue into his mouth and sucking hard, cleaning away every bit of blood from Buck’s tongue.
Buck can feel the way Eddie’s body shudders underneath him as he pulls back from Buck.
‘Wow,’ Buck breathes out.
Eddie watches him carefully, as though he’s looking for any sign of Buck being afraid.
‘Eddie, I need-’ Buck starts to say, shifting and marvelling at the sensation of grinding his hard cock against Eddie’s thigh.
‘Such a needy thing, aren’t you?’ Eddie chastises, but there’s no real bite to it.
A soft whimper escapes Buck’s throat as he continues rocking against Eddie’s thigh, his movements becoming faster.
‘Take what you need, sweetheart. Use me,’ Eddie tells him, keeping one hand cupped around Buck’s neck and combing his fingers on his other hand through Buck’s hair. His long and sharp nails scratch against Buck’s scalp, eliciting a strangled noise of delight from Buck.
Buck uses the permission from Eddie to keep grinding his clothed cock on Eddie, gasping and panting and letting his hands roam around Eddie’s body as he does.
Buck lets out an annoyed moan when he struggles to find any part of Eddie’s skin, his brain foggy and unable to help him slip underneath Eddie’s shirt.
Eddie, obviously, knows what Buck needs. Whether that’s because he read Buck’s mind or because he just knows, Buck isn’t sure.
Buck’s eyes flutter close and he throws his head back as he feels himself getting closer and closer with every rapid movement of his body.
He moans out Eddie’s name and his eyes open just in time to see Eddie watching him hungrily and like Buck is something beautiful.
‘You are,’ Eddie whispers in response.
Buck glances down at the obscenely large wet patch on his jeans and he can feel the tacky wetness in his pants.
‘I just came in my pants and I’m probably red in the face, I don’t think-’ Buck starts to argue.
Eddie cuts him off with a sloppy kiss that Buck happily falls into.
‘You’re beautiful,’ Eddie tells him firmly.
They pull back so Buck can catch his breath and he swings his legs off Eddie so he can sit next to him and Eddie moves to sit up too.
‘W-what about you?’ Buck asks.
Eddie raises an eyebrow at him questioningly and Buck gestures down to his own crotch.
‘You think I didn’t get off on that?’ Eddie questions and Buck’s eyes travel down to the matching wet patch on Eddie’s crotch.
Fuck, that’s so hot. Buck thinks, wanting nothing more than to start lapping at it with his tongue.
‘Buck, you’re insatiable,’ Eddie moans, pulling Buck in for another kiss.
Bite me. Please.
Eddie pulls back from the kiss at that and Buck whimpers, trying to chase Eddie’s mouth with his own.
‘Buck, you don’t know what you’re asking for,’ Eddie tells him slowly.
‘I do, Eddie. I want this. I want you,’ Buck tells him. ‘We both know I trust you.’
Eddie shakes his head.
‘You’re blissed out, you don’t know what you’re asking for,’ he says.
‘I do. I know I want this,’ Buck insists.
‘No, Buck.’ Eddie tells him.
‘You feed off other people, don’t you? Y-you have people who do that for you,’ Buck says softly, his eyes dropping to the floor.
‘Are you jealous?’ Eddie asks and Buck can hear the way that affects him.
Buck looks up at him through his eyelashes.
‘Yes. Want you to use me. Want to be good for you,’ he whines.
‘You’re so good, Buck.’ Eddie tells him softly, raking a hand through his hair again. ‘Just… not tonight, okay?’
Buck’s eyes light up then and his gaze locks onto Eddie’s own heated stare.
‘Soon?’ Buck asks.
Eddie still looks hesitant but he sighs in defeat.
‘Maybe,’ he says.
Buck grins then. He may have only just met Eddie, but he can tell that he’s already winning him over.
Eddie rolls his eyes at that.
‘Don’t be smug,’ Eddie scolds playfully with a wicked grin playing on his lips, showing his fangs off.
‘Are we still doing the interview?’
‘As long as you formally accept,’ Eddie responds, raising his eyebrows pointedly at Buck.
‘I’ll do it right now!’ Buck says quickly, patting around for his phone.
Eddie chuckles at him as he stands up, leaning down to kiss Buck gently on the lips.
‘I think we’re going to have a lot of fun together, baby,’ he says softly.
Buck’s eyes close as he melts into the kiss, but just as quickly as the kiss started, Eddie has pulled back.
Buck opens his eyes to an empty apartment, but he has a feeling he’s not really ever going to be alone again.
