Dasuki POV
“Thank goodness they are sending new food supplies soon! I do hope they include more gelatin though. It sucks we can only have cake if it's someone's birthday”.
Dasuki says, sounding excited at first but more disappointed by the end of his ramble.
Dasuki was sitting on one of the kitchen barstools with his head lying on the countertop talking wistfully about everything and nothing. He didn't mind that no one else in the room was paying much attention to him. He mostly just wanted his thoughts out and about.
“I wonder if they really are going to go bankrupt. I heard back on Earth there's some kind of food crisis happening. I hope everyone is okay. Food prices are rising and its gonna make it harder on the company. ”
Swansy, who had been sitting on the couch in hearing distance from him, perked up.
“food crisis? How does that even work? I mean just go get food! Raise animals and grow some shit. It doesn't matter. That's what they use to do before people went soft”.
Dasuki wasn't really expecting anyone to have anything to say so when he lifted his head off the island he was surprised.
“Uh, yeah you didn't hear? All the animals have, like, some kind of disease and they have all started dying off. They are trying to cure it but its not going well. It sounds like they found some kind of new food source though!”
“Sounds like they are lying to me. Probably some way to try to control people”. Swansy said sounding skeptical. He was probably right though.
It made sense to dasuki though that if the food prices were sky rocketing then it was a huge possibility they would all be out of a job soon. He use to watch the news a lot when they first got into space. It made him feel connected to this planet he never really felt he was a part of.
The last time he watched the news was a few days ago. It showed how they were selling euthanasia shots at grocery stores so that peoples pets wouldn't have to suffer. Thinking about that made him sad so he didn't want to keep watching the news.
Curly's birthday is coming up soon! It was exciting news and they got to use the last gelatin until the supply drop. Another year was passing. Time was such a weird thing.
Anya’s been acting differently lately. She's been quieter, Dasuki thought. I'm sure having some cake will get her out of this dark mood she's been in though!
Luckily we just got the new supplies in. The stuff we got is a little different this time. We got more gelatin at least! That will get everyone in a better mood!
