Work Text:

“Jetty, I… I had no idea you felt this way.” Melinoë reached out her arms. Sheepishly, Jetty placed her hands in Melinoë’s. “I really have to be going, but… how about you meet me in Erebus later? I can take you somewhere special, as long as you promise not to tell the others.”

Jetty smiled. She was overjoyed. “Of course I can keep it to myself! I’m… already doing that with this conversation.”

Melinoë smiled. “Fantastic! It’s a date, then. I’ll see you later, Jetty.” She gave the siren a quick peck on the cheek, before running off to continue on to the Underworld. Jetty stood still, basically boiling after the kiss from Melinoë. She desperately needed more.

Oh, this had to go well.

__________

Jetty stood at one of the entrances to Erebus, nervously fidgeting as she waited for Melinoë. She had brought a spray bottle with her, to keep her face wet while outside of the water, and was spinning it around in her hands as a distraction. She could breathe perfectly fine, of course, she just didn’t like being dry. She hadn’t used the thing yet, though. She was so anxious, and her anatomy was close enough to a human’s that she had been sweating profusely the entire time she waited. Didn’t need to spray herself if her face was covering itself in salty water anyway.

Jetty looked around uncomfortably at the dozens of shades all around her. She saw quite a few with clear signs of having died at sea, and wondered if any had been killed by her bandmates, or Charybdis. She shuddered. She wasn’t used to this many spirits being around. But, she figured it was just a necessary part of spending time with the princess of the Underworld, and that was something she was more than willing to put up with.

A pang of anxiety hit Jetty suddenly. Princess. Melinoë was a princess. Was she even good enough for her? She knew of her other partners. The personification of strife, the god of doom, and retribution incarnate. Even Icarus, despite being human, was known amongst the gods. But Jetty was just… some siren. Sure, she was in a band with Scylla, and was an incredible guitarist, but… would that be good enough for Melinoë?

Before Jetty could get too in her own head, a glowing sigil appeared on the ground in front of her. Melinoë materialized above it, giving Jetty a kind smile as she saw her.

“Melinoë!” Jetty jolted back a bit, startled by the goddess’ arrival. “H-hi!”

Melinoë took Jetty’s hand in hers. “Hello, Jetty. I must say, it’s far nicer to meet you when Scylla isn’t here.” She hesitated. “Sorry… I guess I shouldn’t be saying things like that about people you care about.”

Jetty smiled nervously. “I get it, though… I love Scylla, but she’s a lot.” She fidgeted a bit, but stopped quickly, worrying that if she continued, Melinoë would stop holding her hand. “I like drowning sailors as much as the next woman, but… I don’t think we need to be so hostile to everyone we meet.”

Melinoë laughed softly. “Yeah… your music would probably be a lot more well-regarded if your audience members weren’t being attacked the whole time.” She nudged Jetty slightly. “Not every day that you find a band with such a talented, cute guitarist.”

Jetty felt her face burning up, and she knew from Melinoë’s soft giggle that she must have been bright red. “Uh… thanks, Melinoë…” She managed to get the words out, despite her brain short-circuiting.

Melinoë softly ran her fingers along Jetty’s skin. It felt quite nice. “You know… hitting you with a bunch of different weapons didn’t prepare me for how soft your skin is.” She continued to caress the siren softly, running her fingers up and down her arm. All the while, Jetty felt like she was going to explode. “It’s really nice… I wish I’d had the opportunity to do this before.”

“Th-thank you… your skin feels nice, too, by the way”

Melinoë laughed, pulling her hand back from Jetty’s shoulder and letting it come to rest in her hand again. “Thank you, Jetty.”

A breeze blew through the dark forest of Erebus, the wailing cries of fresh shades carried with it. Jetty shivered. Despite being acclimated to the cold depths of the sea, chilling gusts of wind almost felt like a different kind of cold. One that Jetty couldn’t weather as well.

Melinoë gave Jetty a sympathetic look as she shuddered from the wind, and looked around at the many shades surrounding them. “Hey… I’d have to cover your eyes until we get there so you don’t see too much, but… do you want to come to my place for a bit? We don’t have to… do anything, I just thought it might be a less hostile location.”

Jetty smiled. “I’d love that!” She closed her eyes, holding perfectly still for Melinoë to cover them and take her away from Erebus.

Melinoë reached up and covered Jetty’s face with her hands. “We’re also going to have to be careful that nobody else sees you… I’m sure Headmistress Hecate wouldn’t appreciate me bringing you to our hideout, and I think Odysseus has some… baggage with sirens, and Scylla.”

“Don’t worry,” Jetty said, “I can be quiet.” She paused. “Also, who doesn’t Odysseus have baggage with?”

Melinoë laughed as she started to cast the spell to take them to the Crossroads. “That’s a good question, Jetty. He even has a weird relationship with Hecate’s dog, which nobody will elaborate upon for me.”

Jetty smirked. “Hmm. ‘Nobody will elaborate upon it’... I thought the whole problem was that ‘Nobody’ wasn’t elaborating?”

Melinoë let out a mildly amused snort as she finished the spell. “You’re hilarious, Jetty.” Jetty smiled, feeling air rushing past her for a second. Melinoë lifted her hands off of Jetty’s face. “Alright, here we are.”

Jetty slowly slithered into Melinoë’s tent, looking around at the fairly cozy room surrounding her. Melinoë quickly ran to close over the entrance to the tent - something that Hecate wasn’t going to investigate ever again after walking in on Melinoë and Nemesis one unlucky night, worried about the sounds of ‘agony and death’ she heard coming from the tent. Melinoë turned around, and gave Jetty a nod. “Okay, as long as we’re quiet, nobody is going to walk into my tent unannounced. They all know better, except-”

“Who dares walk upon the grounds of this tent?! Your life is forfeit, witch, and- Oh, hey, you brought company.” Dora shifted into a more approachable form upon seeing Jetty’s terrified face. “So, who’s this?”

Melinoë sighed. “Dora, this is Jetty. Jetty, Dora. Uhm…” Melinoë hesitated. “Dora… please don’t say a word about this to Headmistress. I don’t imagine she would be happy about this…”

Dora smirked. “Oh, you got a little secret, huh? Don’t worry, I’m not gonna tell anyone.”

“Thank you so much, Dora.” Melinoë looked at the ghost for a moment, expectantly. Dora simply hovered in the middle of the room, not picking up on the hints at all. “Uhh… Dora… Could we have some privacy, please?”

“Oh! Yeah, sure. I’ll go bother the antler guy.” Dora faded into the shadows, leaving Melinoë and Jetty on their own.

“Well…” Melinoë sat down on her bed, patting the space next to her. Jetty slid over, crawling up onto the bed and coiling her tail behind Melinoë. “What do you like to do in your spare time, Jetty?”

Jetty shrugged. “I guess I mostly just write more music… not a lot of time to do much else. What about you?”

Melinoë sighed deeply. “Not much down time outside of trying to kill Chronos…”

Jetty caressed Melinoë’s shoulder. “I guess we should probably get some hobbies, huh?”

Melinoë laughed. “Yeah, perhaps.”

“Maybe I can make your job a bit easier…”

__________

For the next few weeks, Melinoë and Jetty followed the same routine. Pretend to hate each other in front of Scylla and Roxy, share a few kisses and caresses after their battle, meet in Erebus, and hang out in Melinoë’s room for a bit. It was quite nice, and certainly made Melinoë’s fights with Scylla more tolerable. Not just because Jetty was going easier on her now, although that was certainly appreciated. No, what made things better for Melinoë was just seeing Jetty in her element, not as an enemy, but as someone she now cared for. It made getting thrashed by Scylla’s tentacles slightly less awful to know that the incredible guitarist she was fighting would be cuddling with her in bed soon enough.

With routine, though, came carelessness. They weren’t careless with one another, of course, they deeply cared about each other. But, one night, Melinoë forgot to close her tent. It had been feeling too ‘normal’ to have Jetty over, and keeping her hidden completely slipped her mind.

And Hecate needed to talk with her.

__________

“So,” Jetty said, laying in bed with her tail draped over Melinoë’s legs, “any new updates on finding a hobby?”

Melinoë shrugged. “Not much progress, to be honest… though Arachne has been teaching me to weave.”

“Oh! How’s that going?”

Melinoë leaned over the edge of the bed, grabbing something from underneath. She held up what could charitably be called a dress. It was lopsided, the stitching was both visible and ugly, and loose threads hung from the dress at various points. “I know I shouldn’t compare myself to someone with four arms who can best Athena herself,” Melinoë said, “but this looks awful.”

“Uhh…” Jetty looked at the dress, trying to think of something constructive to say. “You know… nobody’s first attempt at anything is perfect.”

Melinoë smiled, and pressed a gentle kiss to Jetty’s cheek. “I suppose you have a point.” She rested her head on Jetty’s chest, listening to the soft thump of her heart. “Jetty… I love you.”

Jetty smiled as she absentmindedly twirled a strand of Melinoë’s hair in her fingers. “I love you, too, Melinoë.”

Melinoë’s hand began drifting up from its position on Jetty’s waist, up under her shirt. Jetty’s eyes lit up, and she reached up to start undoing Melinoë’s dress. Their mouths met in a kiss, and neither one of them heard the footsteps approaching the tent.

“Melinoë…” Melinoë yelped as she heard the voice of Hecate, approaching her tent. There wasn’t enough time to hide Jetty. She was going to see her.

“Melinoë, have you seen-” Hecate was at the entrance to the tent now, and as soon as she saw a siren in her pupil’s bed, she launched into action. She leaped into the air, wielding her twin torches, chanting an incantation.

“Wait, Headmistress, I can explain!”

Hecate froze in the air, still glaring at a trembling, terrified Jetty. “You have one minute, Melinoë. And your explanation better be good for harbouring an enemy in your bed.”

“Okay,” Melinoë said, “yes, she is one of the sirens that works with Scylla and tries to kill me every night-”

Jetty coiled herself behind Melinoë, holding onto her shoulders. “She said good explanation…”

However,” Melinoë continued, “we’re in love. And she’s been helping me in whatever ways she can whenever I reach Oceanus. Sometimes, a room is free of enemies before I even get there. Sometimes, I’ll find a collection of reagents and materials laid out for me. And whenever I reach the final chamber of Oceanus, she’s there, secretly going easy on me. She even brings me food when she can, to recover after our battles.”

Hecate floated back to the ground. “Acceptable. You may live.” She put her torches away, and looked back at Melinoë. “Well, are you going to introduce us?”

“Uhh… sure.” Melinoë fumbled with her words a bit. “Headmistress, this is Jetty. Jetty, this is Headmistress Hecate.”

“Pleasure to meet you,” Hecate said, as though she hadn’t just tried to kill Jetty seconds ago.

“Uhh… pleasure to… meet you, too.”

Melinoë let out a sigh of relief. “Well, now that that’s over with… what were you looking for, Headmistress?”

“Nothing important. I was looking for Moros, and wondered if you had seen him anywhere.” She eyed the siren next to Melinoë. “Seems unlikely you’ve seen the harbinger of doom, considering Jetty still lives.” She laughed softly to herself, clearly amused at her own joke. “In any case, it’s not something to be worried about. I will leave the two of you in peace.” Hecate turned around, and began to leave.

“Thank you,” Melinoë said. “Oh, uhm… Headmistress?”

“Yes?”

“Would you mind… closing the flap to the tent on your way out?”

“Of course,” Hecate replied. “I saw where your hands were. I would have closed it regardless of whether you asked.”

“Thank you…”

Hecate left, closing the flap as she did. Melinoë turned to look at Jetty. “Well, I hope she didn’t kill the mood. Especially since, now that we don’t have to worry about being found out…” She ran a finger along Jetty’s collarbone, hearing the siren gasp in response. “We don’t have to worry about being too loud.”

Jetty tackled Melinoë to the bed, eliciting a giggle from the goddess of nightmares. Jetty started undoing Melinoë’s dress, only pausing to lift her arms so Melinoë could pull off her shirt.

Before long, both women were naked. Their mouths were intertwined, and Melinoë had her hands massaging Jetty’s breasts. Jetty slid her hand down Melinoë’s body, drawing out moans and gasps as her calloused fingers found their target.

Melinoë pulled away from the kiss slowly. “J-Jetty, I- Aaahhh!- Jetty, I need to ask you something.”

Jetty pulled her fingers away from Melinoë. “What is it?”

“Well…” Melinoë blushed, suddenly embarrassed about the question. “Uhm… I don’t really know much about… you know… siren anatomy. I was just wondering…” She took a breath. “How do I do to you what you’re doing to me?”

The question made Jetty blush, too. When she went to visit Melinoë today, she didn’t mentally prepare herself to explain to the goddess how to finger her. “Uhm… give me your hand.” Melinoë obliged. Jetty pressed Melinoë’s hand against her torso, slowly sliding it down along her body. Melinoë watched intently, eager to learn how to pleasure her girlfriend. As Melinoë’s hand approached the base of Jetty’s tail, where her skin met her scales, some of the scales at her waist folded back. Melinoë’s hand stopped where the scales once were, and she felt the familiar folds of a vulva.

“Oh,” Melinoë said, her mouth shifting into a grin, “well I certainly know how to use this.” Jetty gasped sharply as Melinoë curled her fingers in. She began to moan, the sound quickly captured by Melinoë pressing her lips to Jetty’s. Melinoë continued to gently finger the siren, peppering soft kisses along her collarbone and chest. After a few minutes with Melinoë’s well-practiced hand, Jetty moaned and shuddered, sinking into the bed as she experienced her release.

Melinoë smiled, and gave Jetty a soft kiss as she recovered. “Good girl,” she whispered. She brought her fingers to her lips, licking them clean. The taste was salty, but not unpleasant.

Jetty’s breathing slowed, and she propped herself up in her elbows. “Your turn,” she said, using her tail to flip Melinoë onto her back. Melinoë yelped, then giggled as she landed in the blankets. Jetty moved over, awkwardly trying to position herself on top of Melinoë without her tail getting in the way. Finally, she leaned over, trailing her tongue down Melinoë’s body. She put a thumb over each of the goddess’ nipples, rubbing slow, soft circles over them. Melinoë closed her eyes and sighed, letting the sensations wash over her.

Melinoë gasped as she felt Jetty’s long, flexible tongue reach the space between her legs. She gripped the blankets and arched her back as she felt Jetty’s mouth exploring her folds, finding just the right spots to make her unravel. The siren’s forked tongue wrapped around her clit, rubbing, pressing, and sucking, bombarding Melinoë with pleasure. Jetty was determined, but still, their time together remained gentle and loving. Melinoë felt Jetty’s razor-sharp teeth graze her thighs, but she never bit down, never pressed harder than the lightest touch.

Jetty’s tongue continued exploring Melinoë’s pussy, and eventually, she heard Melinoë cry out her name. She smiled, her tongue still inside her partner, as she felt Melinoë’s strong thighs wrap around her.

Melinoë hoisted Jetty up, letting her settle in with her arms around her chest. She kissed the siren on the face a few times, softly humming as she did.

“So,” Jetty said, “how was that?”

Melinoë smiled, brushing Jetty’s hair out of her face to look into her eyes. “It was incredible, Jetty. You were incredible.”

Jetty grinned triumphantly, lightly scratching Melinoë’s scalp. “You were, too.” Melinoë smiled, nuzzling her head into Jetty’s chest.

They both had to get back to work soon. Back to their jobs, killing each other. But for now, they were content. For now, they were away from everyone else, and they had each other.

Jetty was already looking forward to tomorrow.

Notes:

I love Jettyyyyyy, let her kiss Melinoë!!
