As it was already midday the sun was starting to set over St. Petersburg, Russia. The colors in the sky blend together to create a beautiful scene in the sky. Not wanting to waste this opportunity before they actually got off the bridge. Victor pulled out his phone, got it ready to take a selfie. He stopped walking and pulled Yuri in close with the hand he was holding, and used the other to take a selfie of them. But it didn’t stop at one photo, Victor leaned in and pressed a kiss to his cheek. Snapped another photo. Smirking as he leaned in again and pressed a soft kiss to his lips as well. Sapping another photo. “Perfect!” he exclaimed.
Yurio rolled his eyes and pretended to gag, pointing at his mouth while doing so “Really?! While I’m RIGHT here. Gross.”
Yuri was too stunned and too embarrassed to speak and when they started to walk again they continued to walk right past Yurio who glared at them.
Victor just smirked as he passed the younger boy, giving him a look like ‘yep I did that, and I will do it again’
After arriving to the parking lot he had to let go of Yuri’s hand to pull his keys out of his pocket. Fumbling to find the right one as and then opened the car door. He pulled the passenger seat forward “Kid’s sit in the back.” her winked.
Yurio grumbled something about them being two old farts but climbed in the back without hesitation. Makkachin jumped into the car after and plopped down on the seat but stuck her paws on Yurio’s lap, panting heavily.
Yuri got in the front seat once the seat was put back into position. Victor shut the door and started to make his way around the car.
Yurio sighed “I hate this ugly pink car.. as if Victor isn’t already getting enough attention. He has to make a statement on the road too.”
Yuri turned to look at Yurio in the back of the car with a disappointed and slightly angry look on his face “At least he has a car. Most people in Japan walk, use trains, or scooters to get around. Can't even drive a car there till you are 18. Also, pink is just a color and this is not your car, be kind.”
Victor unlocked his door and climbed into the driver's seat unaware that the boys were in a conversation he interrupted “It feels odd to drive. I've been gone for so long I thought I may forget how too.” he chuckled then turned to look at Yuri next to him. Taking note of his expression “Yuri? What’s wrong?”
Yuri, however, was still focused on the blonde in the back “I get that you may have had issues with Victor in the past, but that is in the past. This is now, so please refrain from making any rude comments in front of me about Victor or myself for that matter.” he paused “Don’t think I haven’t forgotten how you treated me in the bathroom in Sochi or at Ice Castle. You never apologized to me for those times. You yelling at me in the bathroom at Sochi when I was having a breakdown only contributed to my decision to quit skating before Victor came into my life.” he paused to take a breath and let it out before continuing “If you can't be kind to us behind our backs. Respectfully, I will not talk to you. I will have Victor take me home, I’m exhausted anyway, and If he wants to hang out with you, he can do so without me. So I suggest you sit back there and think about that and your reply. If you can’t handle that then we can also take you home. Your choice.”
Yurio stared at him with a surprised expression, too stunned to speak.
Victor’s eyes widened “What did I miss?”
Yuri turned back to face forward once again in the car “He was being rude..” he looked down at his hands and started to fiddle with them “.. it’s one thing for him to sit and call me names. I’ve grown up used to being bullied by people constantly because I wasn't exactly skinny by their definition. But when he made a comment about you just now. It made me really mad.. I felt like I had to say something.” he looked at Victor “This is not the first time I’ve heard him degrade you.. the last time was when he came to Hatsetsu.. he called you a dumbass for drinking till dawn that day you were late to come coach us.”
“It’s okay. You are also allowed to speak your mind. I’ve heard him calling you all sorts of names.” he looked back at Yurio “If Yuri goes home then I do too…so the choice is either you be nice or I take you to your home. Which would you like?"
Yurio looked back at Victor “I’ll be nice..” he replied.
Victor nodded and reached over to stroke Yuri’s cheek with his thumb giving him reassurance. Yuri tilted his head into the touch and closed his eyes “Ready Yuri? I’ve decided we will go to a small restaurant that I like nearby. It’s family owned and they have great food. Plus they love Makka.”
They drove off to the restaurant, all of them sat and ate dinner and talked amongst themselves at the dinner table. Laughing at each other's jokes and stories, they talked about their events. Makkachin laid under the table with a ham bone that the owner gave her to occupy her as they ate. Victor mentioned the things he would like to do with Yuri now that he was here in Russia.
When Yuri went to reach for his wallet to get his card out to pay, his hand bumped a certain box that had been in there since the beginning of the journey, it distracted him and Victor paid before he could even give the card to the waiter. Yuri pulled out the box and looked at it beneath the table then smiled. “Vitya?”
Victor was signing his name on the receipt and handed it back to the waiter “Da?”
Yuri lifted the box “I know.. I wasn’t here for your birthday. I know I already said Happy Birthday. But um… I bought this before I left Barcelona. I wanted to give it to you in person so I never told you. I honestly had forgotten it was in my pocket till now. So.. Happy Birthday.” He set the small box on the table and slid it over “I know you said that you don't celebrate Christmas like we do.. It made me happy when you said you would be willing to celebrate it the way I do too…so when we get a tree this will be our first ornament.” he looked down “I.. didn’t know what to get you.. and I hope you like it..”
Victor took the little box and picked it up inspecting the packaging and the tiny little bow on the top he had a soft smile on his face as he set it back on the table “It’s so small.. I wonder what it could be” he replied as his eyes lit up. Delicately he untied it and opened the lid, moved the paper back and his eyes widened. There in the box sat the cutest tiny pair of ice skates with a tiny blue snowflake and their names on them. “Oh.. Yuri… they are so cute…” his eyes filled with tears and he leaned over to kiss Yuri’s cheek “I’m not waiting till next year to display these. I will find a place for them somewhere EVERYONE can see.”
“Nice” was all Yurio had to say “The front door. Would be a good place if you do. Get a wreath and put it on that. Our Christmas Holiday is still not over.. so it would still be appropriate."
Victor smiled “YES! I will stop at a store and grab one on the way home! Thanks for the idea Yurio!!”
“Glad you like it…” Yuri said before taking a sip of his tea.
“Like it? Oh no… no.. no..” he paused “I LOVE IT!“ he held it to his heart like he was giving it a hug and then he put it back in the box and put it in his own pocket.
“Speaking of forgetting things…” Yurio replied “Have you told Yuri yet about a certain phone charger..?”
Victor stopped, threw his head back “UGH.. no.. I forgot..”
Yurio laughed “Typical.. You may want to tell him.”
Yuri looked confused “Tell me what?”
“That d-...” Yurio started and then stopped “VICTOR.. Tell him”
Victor smiled his large heart smile “I left the phone charger that I had in Barcelona.. It wasn’t in my bags. I do recall you said you got everything from the room.”
Yuri nodded “I did.. Nothing was left. I didn't see your charger either. I would have grabbed it if I did.”
Victor put his fingers over his mouth “I lost it…probably in the Rink. I forgot about it and when we got to the room I was too tired by then, we had to get up early, and it just slipped my mind.”
Yuri took a deep breath and then let it out, though it was loud enough to hear over the table “That's why your phone died. I had a whole anxiety attack because I thought you didn't want to talk to me anymore.. My mind started racing and I had thoughts like ‘he doesn't want me anymore and this is your way of leaving me’ and ‘I’m being too clingy’ because I’m the king of worrying.” he rubbed his face with his hands “I’ve never been with anyone. I’ve only heard stories from those who do date or things from movies...things such as a lover being WAY too clingy.. or a total control freak. I was scared I did something to make you think I was too clingy.. “ he looked at Victor “.. all because your phone died.” he sat back and started to chuckle quietly but then it turned into a full blown laugh “I cant” he held onto his sides “I’m so glad to know it wasn’t any of the things my mind thought up.” He laughed so hard he cried.
Victor chucked “No, I’m not mad at you. And for what it is worth I don’t think you are clingy. I know you haven’t had a relationship. Even if you had never told me, I’d have figured that out when I kissed you back on that bridge..” he smiled
Yuri looked at him while wiping tears away with a napkin “How so?”
Victor smiled “When we shared those few kisses on the bridge and I tried to deepen it. You seemed to shy away. I’m certain it wasn't the public display. Since you had no issue letting me kiss you back there in Barcelona, right?”
Yuri nodded slightly “I mean.. as you know, Japan does not do PDA much because in others eyes it its tacky and is generally kept to a minimum. Holding hans is the most common stuff to see.” he paused “But I lived in America for a while, and although it's not something you see every day there either, people there do not think the same as my country. People don’t seem to mind, they are accepted.” He paused and sipped on his drink “We were in Barcelona then, not Japan. As long as you are respectful while we visit Japan. I don't mind the PDA anywhere..within reason of course.” he smiled up at Victor “.. is that okay?”
Victor nodded “That’s perfect.“ he replied. Scooting out of the booth he stood up “I will be right back.” he walked off and back to the bathrooms.
Yurio looked over the table at Yuri “Sorry.. Um.. for yelling at you at the GPF.. and the time in Ice Castle..”
Yuri looked at Yurio and smiled “Apology accepted. Just.. Please be more mindful of the things you say to people or behind others backs. That is not what friends do.”
Yurio nodded “Okay..”
“I’m going to use the restroom too. Then we can get out of here, take you home. We can hang out another day.. I’m really exhausted, and just wanna go home and rest. Sorry,I hope you understand.” he replied.
Yurio nodded and watched as Yuri walked off.
Yuri walked into the bathroom as Victor was washing his hands. He looked at the two doors in the restroom which were open. “Good no one is in here.. “ he smiled at Victor “I’ve never kissed anyone but you..” he touched Victor's arm and lifted up on his tippy toes to lean closer to the other man’s ear “I don’t know how, but, I’m willing to learn if you are willing to teach me. Coach” he whispered quietly “I’ve only seen it in the movies..” he then patted his arm and went into a stall.
Victor blushed slightly and cleared his throat “I um.. will wait for you out there.” he walked out of the bathroom with a smile from ear to ear “I knew it…don’t worry we will have plenty of time to practice. Starting when we get home.”
After dropping Yurio off at his family's apartment building. They headed to Victor’s home, Yuri remained silent as he watched out the window as the town went by, eyes glued to the night scenery.
Victor pulled up into the single car garage and put the car in park and looked at him and smiled. “Ready?”
Yuri nodded “Yeah” he tried to keep his composure but on the inside he was excited.
They both got out. Victor showed him how to open and close the garage door from the inside and gave him the code to get in from the outside. “We will go in the front, but there is an entrance into the garage from the house” they walked over to the front door “Give me a moment” he grabbed Makka's cage and pulled it into the garage then shut the door and came back to the front. He opened the screen door, unlocked the house and stepped to the side “Welcome home” he replied as he held it open for Yuri.
Yuri gave him a nervous smile and stepped into the house, by natural habit he took his shoes off and set them off to the side and then walked further into the entrance. Staring wide eyed like a kid in the candy store.
Makkachin bound into the house afterwards and went over to her food and water bowls.
Victor laughed “I wouldn't have minded if you wore your shoes..” he paused “or do you prefer we take them off?”
Yuri turned to look at him “Taking them off. It keeps the floors clean and the carpet, if any, in better condition..”
Victor nodded “Sure. Please.. Make yourself at home. This is your home now too.” he slid out of his own shoes and placed them next to Yuri's, then picked up a set of keys from a decorative bowl that sat on top of a small wooden table that sat in the entryway. He walked over to Yuri and took the man's hand and placed the key into it. “These are your set of keys for our house.”
Yuri looked at the set of keys and then smiled “Thanks.” Yuri put it in his coat pocket and started to unbutton his coat.
Victor took his coat off and hung it, and his scarf, up on the coat rack he had sitting in the entry and then he helped Yuri out of his coat and hung it up too “Want me to show you around?”
Yuri looked at him with an excited smile on his face “Would you?! I’d love that!”
Victor laughed, “Absolutely!.” he started to walk around the house showing him the different rooms, the bathroom, his room, the exercise room which doubled as an office, he showed him the second bedroom first but when the door opened it revealed the medals from EVERY competition he had ever been too had been framed and arranged in a nice way against one of the walls.
Yuri’s eyes widened and he walked across the room and over to the medals immediately “AHH! OMG! These are all his medals! Woah there are so many!!” They were all in shadow boxes and had small metal plates below each one that said what competition they were from. “This. Cannot. Be. REAL.” he looked back at Victor “What's the earliest one you have?”
Victor walked over to a box with a small bronze medal sitting in it “This one..” he replied “I was 6”
“His little medals too?! The costumes were one thing. But this..” Yuri placed his hand over his chest and clenched his shirt. “I may faint.. get it together Yuri!” his composure may have been alright on the outside but on the inside he was having the largest fanboy moment he could possibly have.
Victor walked over to a dresser and pointed at some of the photos “These are from before I became a big name..” he replied “Then that.. Well you already know..”
Yuri moved over to the photos to look at all of them. “Yes, I remember it. The Eros costume.. you were sixteen” He took a deep breath trying not to freak out more than he already had done when the costumes had been shipped to his house in Japan. “My mom has my photos and stuff stored away for safe keeping. Maybe when we visit next, I will ask her if she will get them out and you can see me in my younger years..”
Victor laughed, “I’d certainly love to see baby Yuri in tiny ice skates. I’d very much love to visit your family again, they treated me so well despite me being an outsider.”
Yuri nodded “I think they knew who you were when you showed up. Minako, the Nishgoris, and I would take over the TV in the dining area all the time to watch competitions.“ he looked at Victor “Hey, now that I am in Russia. Do you think I could meet your parents?”
Victor’s smile faded “So.. about that..” he started and walked over to a dresser. “I.. have NEVER talked to anyone about this, and avoided the media all together because it's none of their business.” he picked up one small photo on it and brought it back to Yuri and handed it to him.
Yuri looked down at the photo to see a man and a woman standing side by side and in front of them was Victor as a young boy. He looked to be about seven or eight years old. The man shared similar features that he could see in Victor, but the woman looked just like him with her platinum colored hair and blue eyes.
“That being said. You’re not the media and one day I plan to marry you. So you have the right to know..” he replied “Yakov was a very good friend to my family. I used to go play and hang out at the rink all the time as a young boy. When I became old enough, and with my parents, permission. Yakov bought me my first pair of skates.” walked over to the closet, opened the door and took out a small shoe box. He handed the box to Yuri “Those are them..” he gestured. “Some days my parents would just drop me off with Yakov at the rink and I’d stay with him all day and then he would take me home.”
Yuri set the picture back down on the dresser where it was originally and took the box he was handed and opened it. “They are so small..AH! HIS BABY SKATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…” still trying to keep his excitement contained he just smiled.
“Yakov said that my parents were wealthy, but they never flaunted it. I told my parents I wanted to be a figure skater, and they made sure Yakov was the one who made my dream come true.” he continued
Yuri handed him the box back so he could put it away “Glad to know they supported your passion. Same as mine.” he then sat on the bed that was in the room.
After putting the box away and shutting the closet, Victor turned back to face Yuri “But then right after my tenth birthday. There came a day when they dropped me off with Yakov at the rink. He was supposed to watch me for the night too while they both attended a fancy evening event at the fancy hotel downtown.” he replied and then he sat down “But they never made it there.”
Yuri’s smile on his face faded quickly and he put his hand on Victor's "Oh.. I’m so sorry..”
Victor smiled “It’s okay.. You would never have known..Yakov is like a dad to me. He is the one who raised me after the accident. So.. to answer your question. If you’d like to see my real parents, I’d be happy to take you to their graves sometime” he replied “But Yakov is at the rink, and we will see him soon enough.” he replied “Trust me…. You can't avoid him when you're actually trying to avoid him.” he leaned over to Yuri “He yells a lot.." He shrugged.
Yuri smiled “I’d love to at least pay my respects, but only when you want to take me. We will go when you are ready.” he said as he leaned in and placed a kiss on Victor's cheek. “If you are okay with it.. Can we finish the tour? I'm really tired and I’d like to go to bed soon.” Victor nodded in agreement.
It took about a half hour to give the ENTIRE tour of the house, as he went along he was showing him how to operate all the appliances so he didn't need to ask later. They both took turns taking a shower and getting ready for bed. Drying each other’s hair. This time Victor showed him how he did his nightly moisturizing treatment, and then helped do the same to Yuri’s face as well. When they were truly both ready for bed Victor turned to Yuri “So.. um.. Do you want to stay in the extra r-”
“With you..” Yuri replied before he could even finish “Haven’t we been apart for long enough? Like hell I will go back to sleeping alone..” he said as he walked right past a now very stunned Victor with a smirk on his face. “If you want to stay up, that is fine, come in when you are ready. Don't worry about waking me up. You already know I’m a heavy sleeper.” he went into the main bedroom “What side do you sleep on?”
Makkachin followed in after them, jumped up on her doggy bed and laid down. Wagging her tail happily.
Victor choked a bit at how forward Yuri had just been. Blinking a few times before responding. “Um.. I usually slept in the middle.. I’m not picky..”
Yuri then climbed into the bed “I’ll take this side then. If that's okay.” he smiled.
Victor nodded and hit the lights, then walked over to the other side of the bed. Once he got under the covers and settled he laid on his back and stared at the ceiling. The room fell into silence, aside from Makka's snoring.
A few minutes passed before Yuri finally rolled over to face Victor.
Victor at some point had caught Yuri staring at him from the corner of his eyes and he turned his head and smiled “Not tired?”
Yuri shook his head no “I mean I am but….” he blushed.
Victor rolled over to face him, somewhat getting the hint “You wanna cuddle?”
Yuri nodded and then scooted into the center of the bed. Victor did the same and he put his arms around Yuri’s waist. Yuri leaned his head closer to Victor's, sighing happily.
“Kiss me..” Victor finally said, taking a hold of Yuri’s hand with his own. He stroked his fingers over it lightly as he leaned in and captured Yuri’s lips “I know you said you don't know how. I can't explain it well, other than it is like what you see in western movies. But you have to feel it to know what to do.. when I kiss you, I want you to open your mouth, not far, just a bit. Also, focus on breathing out of your nose while doing so and try to copy what I'm doing.” he leaned back in to capture Yuri’s lips once again, and just as he did on the bridge he let his tongue slide over Yuri’s lips.
Yuri’s blush deepened and the hand that wasn't being held reached over and gripped onto Victor’s shirt. It took only a moment, but, finally Yuri parted his lips and opened his mouth to allow the kiss to deepen.
Victor took the opportunity, he deepened the kiss. A groan slipped past his lips. He had wanted this for a long time, since the day he met that cute drunk Japanese man from the Sochi banquet. That was the day that Victor knew he found the one he wanted to spend his life with. Forever.
Yuri’s mind was reeling, his body was heating up, but at the same time his eyes started to water. The wave of new emotions he never felt in his life pooling to his stomach. “It feels good..” he thought “It feels similar to my own ‘me’ time. But it’s more intense.. I think I’m goin– ” his thoughts were interrupted as he felt Victor's weight shifted slightly. He opened his eyes half way, their tongues still dancing together inside his mouth.
Victor had risen up on his elbow and leaned over Yuri to deepen the kiss even further, his other hand sliding over Yuri’s hip made its way up to the back of Yuri’s neck. He parted from the kiss for only a second “See… you can kiss.. “ he whispered and then went back for another.
Yuri closed his eyes once again, not like he could see anyway, he had so much emotions rising in him, with that added new feeling. That it was hard to focus on his breathing as Victor had said. His breathing became heavy and he started to pant in between the kisses. Trying desperately to keep from making any sounds, when Victor parted he started to trail kisses along Yuri’s jawline all the way up his neck “Oh god.. I’m.. I can't.. Why is it I feel like I want him to continue.. But I’m sacred..” and kept going till he got right beneath his ear and then hesitated for a moment.
Victor was also panting, the kissing having the same effect on him. He didn't want to push too far, because he knew it might scare Yuri. But when Yuri made no comments, or movements to push him off he continued “I love you.. so much..” he whispered into Yuri's ear before that too had been subjected to a soft kiss and a little playful nip to his earlobe.
Yuri let out a small groan in response, but when he realized that the sound had emitted from his own lips. He brought one of his own hands up to cover his mouth “S..sorry. I didn’t mean to, I'm....not yet.. please..” Yuri sat up, put his legs over the side of the bed and tears filled his eyes “Sorry..”
Victor watched as Yuri moved away “No, I got carried away..” he put his hand on Yuri’s back and rubbed it gently “I went too far. I made you uncomfortable. I’m the one who is sorry.”
Yuri buried his face in his hands “I can't explain it.”
Victor laid down behind him “I promise, I’ll back off. But please, Talk to me.” he reached out to take one of Yuri’s hands.
Yuri nodded “It felt good? Like really good.” he put his hands on his lap, fidgeting slightly with the hem of his pajama shorts “I’m just nervous..” he paused taking a breath “I didn't hate it... and I know you’d never hurt me.. and..” he put his legs back into bed and turned to face the man once again “I do want more..” he paused “I’m just scared. Sorry, I do love you though.”
Victor smiled softly and then scooted closer to him, placing his arm over Yuri’s waist once again. “You are correct, I’ll never hurt you or ever force you to do something you don’t want to do.” He reached up and moved some strands of hair out of Yuri’s eyes “But please don't think we need to do that for you to make me happy. You being here is enough for me.. We can take things slow.. we got our whole lives ahead of us.” He leaned in and kissed Yuri’s nose “This is all new to you.. you are just learning the ropes of what its like to be in a relationship. I'm happy to be your first.. and your last.. Its an honor to be your coach.” he winked.
Yuri just chucked and rolled his eyes. “Good one. You're my coach alright. In Life and In Love.” he leaned his head into Victor's “Lets get some sleep… we got the whole day ahead of us tomorrow.” Victor just nodded in agreeance, they shared one more simple kiss together before Yuri turned back over so Victor could spoon him and they fell asleep once again in each others arms.
