Chapter Text

"Hey Starlight! I'm a big fan of you!"

"Starlight! Starlight! Can you sign this picture!?"

"Starlight is the coolest hero!"

"I think he's too sparkly for a serious hero..."

"Starlight!"

.

.

.

He was so done. Interviews always drained his energy leaving him completely empty. He needs a break otherwise he'll just explode at some point. All these people don't care about how tired he was after fights. They just need some autographs and pictures. They will torture him with questions for a few hours after he finishes the fight.

This's got to the point when one time journalists tried to get in the ambulance to ask some questions when he's nearly dying from a serious wound. He hated it but he didn't know what to do. People were everywhere. They recognized him on the streets, interviewing him after long rough fights, breaking into his agency and sometimes even stalk him to his house.

He put opened the door with his keys and walked inside his house. His cat Elle meowed greeting him. She was probably the only living thing in the whole world he could stand right now. He filled the bowls with food for her and threw himself on the couch.
He heard cat jumping on the couch after eating. She climb on top of his chest and curled up purring softly. That was nice. Almost like she felt the exhaustion from her owner.

He was almost fallen asleep when his phone start ringing. He groaned and lifted Elle carring her in his arms while standing up and searching for his phone.
He let out a tired sigh before answering the call.

"Starlight you've been summoned in the agency for an emergency meeting. This is very important so we need you to be here in thirty minutes!"

The call ended before he could even answer. He was about to ragequit but he couldn't. Maybe he should take some free time. A week should do.

He placed his phone back on the shelf and put still purring cat on the floor. She blinked few tes and looked up at her owner confused.

"Sorry Elle. I've gotta go..." He sighed hearing her frustrated meow. "I know. I'm sorry. I wish i could stay here as well. I'll try to get back at least for the night."

Elle meowed one more time and walked away. Starlight sighed and put on his mask again. He didn't changed out of his hero costume yet so it didn't took him a lot of time to get ready before leaving his house again.

He didn't feel like being stopped by journalists so he traveled through the roofs. He saw some movements out if the corner of his eye but when he looked there was just an empty rooftop.

"Yeah I'm probably just tired..." he mumbled to himself and continued his way to the agency.

Entering from the roof door he got in the building without dealing with people. He walked in the meeting room an stood next to the HotGuy. Hero greeted him very friendly as always but they didn't get to talk.
Starlight looked around and saw more heros like Himmy and GodForm but what really surprised him was seeing Listener. Vigilante quit hero agency long time ago but apparently was also summoned by director.

"Alright now when our strongest heros are all here i can start talking"

Starlight turned towards director. He was sick of this man but couldn't go against him.

"So we got some ugly news. Apparently a new villain group appeared in the city. They were seen at some small robberies and attacking some people. No deaths registered"

"So they're pretty safe?" Starlight looked at HotGuy then looked at the other heros in the room. Apart from Listener everyone were calm. "Small robberies is such a pathetic reason to call them villains. GlutenGuys are much more dangerous"

Director grinned.

"That's what i though but we can't plan anything yet. We don't know about them a lot right now"

"Why does it matter? They are just a group of wannabe villains. Just some Villies."

Starlight raised an eyebrow. Himmy doesn't seem to be very smart right now but he stayed silent. Underestimate a completely new group of villains in the city wasn't smart. Starlight felt that there was something much more serious than a bunch of wannabe bad guys.

The meeting was wrapped pretty quickly and he was very happy to finally go home and get some rest.

"Starlight. Please stay."

He wanted to scream but he stood there quietly watching as everyone else walking away. He didn't even tried to hide his jealousy towards other heros.

"I'm listening sir"

"Good. So I'm gonna give you a new boogeyman mission. You will work alone and you need to keep this a secret from everyone. I'll send you all the information on your email."

Starlight nodded and walked out of meeting room. He climbed back on the roof and start making his way home. While walking he opened his phone and start reading the message with information of his new target.

Boogeyman missions were tiring because he was the one who got them a lot. Other heros didn't get as much work as he got. Apparently agency thought of him as a perfect hero. Smart, stealthy, fast, popular and dangerous. They were hating him and loving him at the same time.

He opened the file reading the description carefully. It was a rich guy who was apparently a very bad guy. Not a villain but an enemy. He did a lot of blackmailing and was holding an underground business that was illegal.
He made a mistake by turning all his attention to his phone so he didn't even noticed the person in front of him.

Starlight stopped and looked in front of himself. There's no one but him on the rooftop. He put the phone away and looked around. An empty rooftop. He was alone. But he did bumped into something.

"Probably just tired..."

Maybe if he was less exhausted he would notice a few feathers on the floor but he didn't. He was was too tired and all he wanted is lay on his bed and fall asleep.

Locking the door behind himself he immediately get out of his costume and went into shower. The warm water helped him relax a bit.

Tired and completely drained he threw himself on the bed pulling Elle into a hug and falling asleep immediately. The new villain group and his secret mission can wait till he feel a bit better and less tired.

.

.

.

Waking up was hard. But whoever was banging on his door was very insisting for him to do that.

Scott yawned and slowly got up from his bed. Pulling on his huge T-shirt he went to open his door. His hair were a mess along with him in general. He quickly put some food to Elle's bowl and walked to the door.
When he opened it he saw someone he wasn't ready too see this early in the morning.

"Damn man you look horrible"

"Yeah thank you for pointing this out Joel. I was totally unaware of me being a mess"

Joel laughed and walked in.

"Hey Scott! You look tired"

"Hey Lizzy... Yeah well yesterday was pretty hard day and i was planning on continuing sleeping but your husband was against that idea."

Girl laughed at Joel's rolling his eyes. A couple walked in the living room and sit down on the couch.

"So got any plans today?"

Scott yawned while lazily making himself and his guests some coffee.

"Actually yes. Though I'm not sure if Lizzy aloud to know hero information from yesterday meeting"

"Technically no but who cares. It's not like she will go tell everyone about that."

Scott raised an eyebrow while sipping his coffee. Joel rolled his eyes on that.

"Okay fine! Yes i did accidentally told her last night without thinking!"

"Yeah that's what i thought. So what do you think about a new group?"

"Nothing. We don't know anything about them yet."

Scott nodded and glancing over his phone. A message from director poped out telling him that he's a time limit on his secret mission. He rolled his eyes and turned his phone off.

"Alright guys. Can you take Elle for some time? I have a lot of work to do and i don't want her to be alone this whole time"

"Did he gave you more work again?" Scott could see frustration in Joel's eyes.

"I'm not aloud to say anything. Now please take Elle. I need to get ready and go do my work"

"Rude but whatever" Joel rolled his eyes and walked towards the exit door. Lizzy carefully put protesting cat in the carrier promising to take care of her.

Scott let out a tired sigh as soon as his friends left. He quickly got himself ready and exited from the window.
Running on top of the buildings to the south part of the city. That was the main place where his target was active. A few days of chasing and searching were waiting for him...
