In the deepest reaches of space a certain orange and beige space ship could be seen patrolling the sector. Said ship -that is also a truck- is piloted by Revonnahgander
Plumber named Rook Blonko, partner of ‘The bearer of the Omnitrix’, three times ‘Savior of the Universe’, Ben Tennyson. Rook Blonko can and does call Ben by these titles he - in his opinion- deserves to be called as such after all the things he’s done. But Rook believes that the title that would describe Ben the best right now would be ‘The most annoying passenger on this side of universe’.
“Uuuuuggggghhhhhhh…” Groaned Ben “How long do we have to patrol this stupid patch of cosmos?” Whined Ben Tennyson the “Savior of the universe” everyone.
Rook was really, really done with Ben right now. Not only did he have to pilot the Proto-TRUK for the past eight earth hours, he also had to listen to Ben whining about nothing happening on top of that. He pinched the bridge of his nose trying to massage the coming headache away.
It didn’t work.
Ben who sat slumped in his chair shot his arms in the air “Why are we even here?!” Shouted the ‘hero’ with clear frustration. “Our job is to kick butts and save people! Not flying aimlessly through space waiting for god knows what to happen!” After his exclamation he slumped again back into his seat.
“Ben…” Started Rook “...What we are doing right now is a very important job that is vital to ensure peace.” Rook loves Ben, he really does but after their patrol is done he will take a few days off just to get Ben’s whining out of his system.
“And why are we?-” Asked Ben again, pointing between himself and Rook in quick succession. ”doing it?”
The revonnahgander plumber just stared forward… until he dropped his head and sighed a sigh of utter exasperation. “Because we were the only people left that could take on this mission.” Explained Rook.
“Why did everyone have to get stomach aches at the same time?!” Ben shouts for the thousandth time. “Honestly, it feels like these guys banded together just so we can ‘feel how it is to do their job’” He said mockingly. “Like I said once, ONCE, that their job isn’t as dangerous as fighting space villains and they got it into their heads to get some unreasonable grudge on us!” Ben scowled.
Rook just sighed again. While he understands where Ben comes from since he himself finds this whole patrol quite dull and a bad allocation of his skills that doesn’t mean that he can stomach Ben going on and on for eight hours about how ‘unfair’ it is that they are here.
“Ben” started Rook. “I understand that you find this a waste of time but I have to iterate, plumbers patrolling the sectors is extremely vital since at a moment's notice someone could send a message for help.”
“Psch” Ben waved Rook away “We’ve been patrolling for ages and nothing happened, I bet you three cups of Mr.Smoothie that there will be no action until we return home” He said with a smirk while crossing his arms.
Proto-TRUK’s communicator audio comes to life “Mayday mayday we need help, I repeat we need help!”
Rook just turns to Ben “So about that Mr.Smoothie’s” He had a cat-like grin on his face.
Ben just drags his hand through his face “Let’s just go and help them Mr. smart ass.” Ben jabbed Rook with no real heat.
Rook just playfully rolled his eyes and set the ship's navigation towards the signals location. The distress signal came from a cargo ship. It was dark gray and no lights were present. Ben eyed the ship.
"Okay, is it just me or do you also find that ship suspicious?" Declared Ben, squinting at the ship.
Rook initialized docking protocols "While I also share your feelings of apprehension we have to check for survivors." Rook docked the Proto-TRUK, then he smirked towards Ben "Or is the 'Greatest hero of the Universe' Ben Tennyson too scared to enter?" Rook playfully raised an eyebrow.
Ben looked offended "Me!? Scared?!" He pointed at himself "I defeated horror's that would make you wet yourself at ten, TEN!" Ben jumped out the TRUK "Come on, let's go! I will show you scared! I will even go untransformed to show how not scared I am!" Ben outburst would be believable, if not for the big grin on his face. Rook just shook his head and went after Ben deeper inside the ship.
They were inside one of the hangars walking beside each other, when the Omnitrix started to spark green electricity. Ben just looked at the watch. "Uh oh, that's not good." Then the sound of many click-clacks could be heard.
"Indeed it is, young Tennyson" On the railing above them Doctor Psychobos made his presence known.
Ben Scowled "Weren't you supposed to be in some high security prison?" Ben asked almost bored. Doctor Psychobos just chuckled.
"Indeed I was, but thanks to our shared friend I'm free again." Ben just shot him an unimpressed look.
"Let me guess, Vilgax?" Ben hazarded a guess. Loud stomps echoed throughout the hangar.
"Correct, Tennyson. We clashed so many times that I became predictable." Vilgax shook his head and then leveled a glare at Ben "Time to change it." He growled out. Ben just rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, yeah as if I didn't hear that a million times. Well anyway, It's hero Time!" Ben shouted as he slapped his watch without actually picking an alien, again. But to his chagrin he didn't transform. He smacked the watch again and again with the same result. "Come on Omnitrix! Work with me here!" He was interrupted by Vilgax booming laugh.
"What? Can't use your watch?" The Chimera Sui Generis asked in faux surprise. "It shouldn't surprise you, thanks to the brilliant Doctor Psychobos you can't transform in the vicinity of this ship" Vilgax had a cruel smile on his face, deriving sick pleasure out of making Ben Tennyson powerless and within his grasp.
The Cerebrocrustacean made a lot of disgusting noises before speaking "That's right! It was deceptively easy to block your Omnitrix's DNA converter. Now you cannot transform and Omnitrix won't save you from certain death as it did so many times."
Vilgax cracked his neck and started to make his way towards Ben and Rook. Weighing his options Ben started to retreat towards the TRUK. Vilgax surprisingly didn't give chase, following after them at a leisurely pace. That made Ben worry but he couldn't focus on that. First note of business was to get out of range of whatever Doctor Psychobos created to block his transformations. As the Plumbers were nearing their transport it burst into flames before their very eyes. Their only way out of this mess just disappeared, to make the matters worse out of the flame came a humanoid shape. It was a suit of armor in the shade of dark red with black head adorned with neon X. It was Six-Six, a cyborg assassin.
Six-Six rushed at the pair who evaded his attack. Rook transformed his Proto-TOOL into a sword and rushed at Six-Six, who pulled out a metal stick and parried Rook's attack. Ben rushed to attack but a small hand came out of one of Six-Six's holes with a blaster and started to shot at Ben. He was able to dodge the shots but unfortunately for Ben, Six-Six's sister Eight-Eight emerged from shadows behind him and chucked a buzzsaw with laser ends at him. He was able to dodge it in time so it wouldn't take his head of, unfortunately the same couldn't be said for his right arm.
He let out a bloodcurdling scream. Rook who was able to go toe-to-toe with Six-Six directed his attention at Ben, giving Six-Six an opportunity to smack him away. Ben was on the ground when he heard the sound of Vilgax heavy feet approaching them. Assessing the situation he barked orders to Rook. "Rook, Flash NOW!" Rook not needing any more instruction fired a special grenade from his Proto-TOOL causing a flash of bright light to erupt, blinding their foes, with the enemies momentarily confused he and Rook made their getaway deeper into the ship.
Six-Six and Eight-Eight were about to give chase when Vilgax stopped them. "Wait, I'll do it myself. Go guard that Crustacean imbecile.
"Just a little farther Ben, based on the model of this ship the escape pods should be just around the corner" Rook tried to reassure his partner. He tried not to look at the stump where there was an arm once, thankfully the wound was cauterized immediately so they don't have to worry about the blood loos. They should treat the wound immediately anyway but that could come later when they were out of enemy territory. Just as Rook said the escape pods right where he hoped they would be, there was just a small problem, literally. Out of a row of doors where escape pods were located only one remained and it was big enough to house only one of them. "No! What to do, what to do? There are no more escape pods and Vilgax is drawing nearer, we don't have time to look for another one?!" Rook grabbed his head in frustration.
"This one will do just fine" Came a weak response from Ben.
"What?" Said Rook before being shoved inside the pod, doors closing and the launch sequence initiated. "Ben what are you doing?! Why did you do it!?" Ben just flashed him his smile.
"I'm doing what I always do, save lives, I'm an hero after all." With those parting words Rook Blonko was shot out into outer space. Ben's smile fell and he turned towards the Omnitrix. He opened the watch smacking it against his forehead. He grabbed the core in his teeth and started to input a code.
Vilgax made his towards Tennyson, the anticipation of him killing Ben was like walking in sunshine. He couldn't wait to finally win. As he rounded a corner he heard the voice of his prey.
"-and everyone I'm sorry I can't be with you. Farewell, end of transmission." He turned towards Vilgax, a signature smirk on his face. "Would you look at who finally showed up, couldn't take longer did you?" He gestured with wide arm around.
"Why would I do that? After all you are a prey with no chance of escape, there's no need to rush my fun." He walked to be just in front of Tennyson.
Ben scoffed "Yeah? Great trap, especially the escape pod. Really important to keep people in." Ben tried to cross his arms but he only has one arm so he awkwardly let it fall.
Vilgax flashed him an condescending smirk. "I knew you wouldn't take the escape pod, too much of a hero to let someone else suffer. Also It's for the best when there is someone to tell the story, really brings fear to others without me lifting a finger" Vilgax chuckled.
"Yeah? Well you won't be lifting any fingers from now on" Vilgax quirked an eyebrow, or whatever he has.
"Really and why wouldn't I?" Vilgax asked giving his prey last moments before closing in on his kill.
Omnitrix beeped "The charge is ready" A robotic voice of Ben Tennyson came out of Omnitrix.
"What's up with you and explosions, huh Vilgax?" Ben asked in faux curiosity. Vilgax's eyes widened, he rushed towards Ben.
"NO!" He reached towards the human but was to slow as Ben already slammed his forehead on the Omnitrix. What followed was a bright flash of green energy surrounding both the hero and the villain. The explosion was so potent that Ben's body was vaporized and half of Vilgax was gone. Unfortunately or fortunately he was still alive. "NO! NOT AGAIN!" He punched the metal wall putting a big dent in it.
The Omnitrix was gone, it disappeared in the flash, nowhere to be found.
Ruby Rose was sitting near her mothers grave, it was close to the anniversary of her disappearance. She was starting to leave when a bright flash appeared in the sky, she looked up. There was a bright dot that became bigger and bigger, with growing horror she came to realization that something is rapidly approaching right at her. She quickly started running in opposite direction when the now visible ball of fire changed course and started barreling right at her.
She was only a hair breath away from being hit but she was able to dodge. What followed was a massive crater in the ground. In the center laid some green glowing object. Ruby debated if she should approach that thing, her curiosity won, she jumped into the crater and tip toed closer to the green object. She leaned to take a closer look when the object quickly rushed at her and attached itself on her hand. She tried to get it off but couldn't, whatever was on her hand it seemed was attached whenever she liked it or not.
"AAAAAaaaaaahhhhhh!" With a screech she ran towards her home on Island Patch. Surely her dad or Yang will be able to help right, right?
Nearby a figure in a lab coat just smiled, it pulled a pocket watch out their pocket and disappeared with a flash of blue light.
