“Maui, do you remember… when we were celebrating… when we… you know.” She blushed.
Maui smirked lasciviously at her, “When we slept together? Fucked? Become one for a brief, wonderful moment f passion?”
“Yes.” She took a deep breath, “Wehaveadaughter.”
Maui froze. “What?!”
“We have a…” a mumble.
“Speak up!” Maui grabbed her shoulders tightly, “Moana, speak up because I heard… I think I heard you say…”
“We have a daughter!”
The world stood still.
He let go of her and took an instinctive step backwards.
“Her name is Simea and she’s so adorable! And brave and fearless and I call her my little sister and she calls me big sister, but everyone knows she’s mine, but until I told you it didn’t feel right… I intend to claim her. When I go back. And I thought maybe,” she pushed her hair behind her ear and but her lip for a second. “You don’t have to, but I thought maybe…”
“I want to meet her.”
Moana beamed, “Really?!”
“Yes.” Maui stared into space and a smile blossomed on his face. “Simea.” He tasted the name on his lips. “A child. My child” He laughed loudly, wrapped his hands around Moana’s waist and spun her around, “Our child! A baby! A girl!”
She laughed with him, happy and relieved. “She’s not a baby anymore. She’s 4 years old.”
He stopped and stared up at her, still hugging her close. The smile dropped from his face. “I’m so sorry. I left you.”
“You didn’t know.”
“I should have visited. If I had…”
“Why didn’t you?”
He changed his grip on her so he was no longer holding her up by the waist but bridal style, then sat down in the sand with her in his lap. “At first, I was visiting every place I’d dreamed about while stranded on that island. I was looking for… even demigods can die, and gods can fade. I grieved.”
“I’m so sorry.” She hugged him tightly.
He smiled sadly, “Not all of them. Not even most of them, but some of them are… gone. Others were glad to see me and we partied for days; others were not so glad and I spent days escaping them. I didn’t realise how much time had passed.” He pulled away and held her cheek. “For a demigod like me… like us, time means something different. you don’t always realise how long it’s been until…”
He smiled and stood up abruptly with her still in his arms. “A daughter!” He yelled, “I have a daughter!” Quietly, he whispered, “and I would love to have a wife, if she will give me the honour of being her husband.”
She kissed him, over and over again. “Yes. Yes. Yes. Always.” She told him in between kisses.
He grinned roguishly at her. “Let’s make another child then, my little wife.”
She giggled as he dropped into the sand and rolled on top of her. “Maui!”

“I’m looking for Simea. Simea!”
“Here.” She glared, buried in the sand.
He softened; you could see his heart melting as he knelt on the sand and held his hand out to her. “Hello. Hello, Simea. I’m… I’m your father.”
She grinned, bright and happy, “I know! You’re big sister’s beloved, and big sister’s my Mama.” She waved, “Hi Daddy! You made us wait.”
He pulled her out of the sand and held her close, cradled in his arms against his wide chest. “I’ll never make you wait again.”
