Failed (?) experiments - by Ri❀

Summary:

“I read somewhere that kissing your friend feels like nothing! But if you’re attracted to someone, the kiss can make you feel things!”

His friends watch on curiously, processing Yeonjun’s suggestion.

“You want us all to kiss each other?” Kai asks.

Or where Yeonjun’s psych experiment horribly backfires.

Chapter Text

Sure they might all live together but it’s incredibly rare for them all to be home together. It’s only on their day offs, which are few and far between, that they get a chance to relax.

Most of the members pass out — others go around town — so, even then, it’s rare for them to gather like this in their free time.

Which is why, when they do get this time, they make the most of it.

And by making the most of it, they mean drinking till they drop dead.

Yeonjun slams the bottle of soju on the table, drops of it trickling down his chin after he’d just chugged the bottle in one go.

Taehyun pats his back, “I didn’t think you had it in you, Hyung. 3 bottles in a row??”

Yeonjun smirks smugly, clearly out of his mind as a hiccup escapes his throat, “Now, about that money~” he slurs his words, dealing himself over Kai sitting next to him.

Taehyun rolls his eyes, “remind me tomorrow,”

Yeonjun cheers drunkenly, nuzzling into Kai’s lap, “Soobin-ah,” Yeonjun calls, gaining the younger’s attention, “didn’t I do good? Tell me I did good,” he giggles

Soobin, just past tipsy, sets his glass down, “Haven’t you had too much to drink, Hyung? Your face is red,”

Yeonjun pouts, “you never praise me,” he sulks, turning to Kai, “Kai-yah, did I do well?”

Kai ruffles his hair, smiling fondly at him. Kai spares no expense in indulging Yeonjun when he wants to.

Soobin groans, “Alright, alright! You did well! Hear me?” He calls, and Yeonjun’s grin returns to his face just as fast as it had disappeared.

He shoots up, “Beomgyu-yah! You say it too!”

Beomgyu rolls his eyes slowly, sipping on his drink conservatively, “You might fall in love with me if I do,”

Yeonjun huffs, “Is that a challenge?!”

Taehyun chuckles, “clearly not,”

“Please, I don’t think it’s even possible for us to fall in love, Hyung,” Beomgyu says, and as frivolous as his intentions were, his words do send Yeonjun down a spiral.

“Friends fall in love with each other all the time!” Yeonjun declares, followed by a hiccup.

“Then you were never friends to begin with,” Beomgyu adds.

“Oh…” Yeonjun shrinks, his mind temporarily inhibited by the alcohol. Kai chuckles and fills in the silence, “I think, for friends to transition into lovers, there need to be  pre-existing feelings in addition to attraction, whether you’re aware of it or not,”

Yeonjun blinks dumbly at Kai, “who died and made you a psychologist?”

Kai hums, his eyes glossy from the alcohol, “Freud?”

Taehyun seems to enjoy that joke, hi-fiving Kai behind Yeonjun’s back.

Yeonjun hiccups, staring at his empty glass, “then, how do we know if we're all friends or not?”

An awkward silence settles over the centre table they’re all huddled around.

Yeonjun looks up at his members, dazed. While Soobin seems to show no interest in the discussion, Beomgyu pauses drinking, while Taehyun and Kai seem to give it a serious thought.

“Well, you’re not wrong,” Beomgyu shrugs his shoulders, “one of us could like the other,” he says, his tone unimpressed.

“But how do we find out?!” Kai seems enthusiastic, and Taehyun shrugs, “I don’t think anyone’s in the mood to confess their feelings for a psych experiment, Kai-yah,”

Silence settles again until Yeonjun has his eureka moment. He gasps, gaining everyone’s attention, “I know a way!” he straightens, “I read somewhere that kissing your friend feels like nothing! But if you’re attracted to someone, the kiss can make you feel things!”

His friends watch on curiously, processing Yeonjun’s suggestion.

“You want us all to kiss each other?” Kai asks.

“I’m not participating,” Beomgyu says, "I don't wanna find out,”

Yeonjun pouts, “Boo! But I want to know! I don’t care if y’all do the test or not,” he excitedly claps his hands.

“I don’t think it’s a good test to determine your feelings, Hyung,” Soobin says quietly.

Yeonjun dismisses him with a wave, “Kai-yah! Kiss me!” he pouts his lips and closes his eyes, on his knees as he leans closer to Kai.

The youngest laughs, “how drunk must you be to be okay with this?”

“4 bottles should do it,” Taehyun chirps.

Yeonjun frowns, eyes still closed, “Why is no one kissing me?!”

“Because no one wants to. That should say enough about our feelings,” Beomgyu scoffs, and Yeonjun shoots him a glare, before turning to Kai, “if you don’t kiss me I’m gonna assume you’re in love with me~”

Kai laughs nervously, “you’re not gonna let this go, are you?”

Yeonjun smiles sweetly, shaking his head, “not until you kiss me,”

Kai looks around the room for approval, and while he gets some from Taehyun, Beomgyu and Soobin remain indifferent. At least Beomgyu looks amused. Soobin however refuses to even watch.

Kai sighs and nods, “alright. Just a quick one,” he says and plants a peck on Yeonjun’s lips.

“There,” he says, pulling away, “feel anything?”

Yeonjun opens his eyes, and then touches his lips. And then, he sits back in his spot, “Nothing,” he says with a smile, “my theory is right, then!” he beams.

“I don’t think that’s how that works, Hyung,” Soobin decides to chime in, but Yeonjun yet again dismisses him before turning to Taehyun.

“Your turn!” He beams, and Taehyun knows better than to fight.

“I’ll change things up a little,” he says and caresses Yeonjun’s jaw to pull him in for a little kiss — not a mere peck, but a little less than a proper kiss.

Taehyun pulls away, “anything?”

Yeonjun stares dumbly at Taehyun’s face, “No offense but I sorta knew the result before the test,”

Taehyun shrugs, “fair enough,”

Yeonjun then brings his attention to Beomgyu, who looks like he’d been expecting him. He doesn’t resist, but he does hesitate.

“I need another glass to go through with it,” he says and proceeds to take a shot of the soju in his glass. He slams it on the table and gestures to Yeonjun, “Choi Yeonjun, come at me,”

Yeonjun smiles tipsily and leans over the table to reach for Beomgyu. With his hand firmly on the younger’s neck, he pulls him in for a proper kiss.

Beomgyu tastes like the soju he just drank — only adding to Yeonjun’s intoxication. Yeonjun breaks the kiss to think for a moment, before angling his head and going in for a second peck.

They pull away and Yeonjun hums, “Not gonna lie, had me worried there for a second,”

Beomgyu huffs, “in your dreams,” he says and settles back in his seat, and all eyes turn to Soobin.

The leader stares at them, “I said I wasn’t going to participate in your childish schemes,” he says, shifting, trying to make a run for it. But Taehyun grabs his hand, “no can do!”

Taehyun’s freakish strength allows Yeonjun to cross over him and crawl towards Soobin, “come one, just a kiss, Binnie,” he whispers as Kai laughs at Soobin’s panicked face.

Beomgyu silently watches as Yeonjun straddles Soobin’s lap, cupping his cheeks as a smile graces his face, “just a peck,” he says.

Soobin under him swallows thickly, “yah, quit it,” he warns with a dangerously low voice, and Yeonjun shakes his head, “No can do ~”

He loves it when Soobin’s voice drops a few octaves. He loves it when Soobin gets so flustered. It’s what makes Yeonjun want to tease him. His cheeks are so soft, and his lips….

Yeonjun really wants to….

Yeonjun leans in as the two youngest cheer, until Soobin’s voice silences them.

“I told you to quit it!” Soobin raises his voice, uncharacteristically so. It startles Yeonjun out of his lap, and his members into silence.

Soobin springs to his feet, breathing heavily as everyone stares at him in disbelief. The frown on his face dies down by a bit when he realises he’d dampened the mood.

“You guys can be so silly sometimes,” he chuckles nervously.

Yeonjun’s eyes have not left Soobin since he fell off his lap. He gulps thickly as Soobin exhales, “I’ll go wash my face a little. You guys carry on,” he says and leaves for the washroom.

After a breath of silence, Kai speaks up, “now that’s what I call a homophobic bunny,”

While it earns a chuckle from Taehyun and Beomgyu, Yeonjun stares at the spot where Soobin once stood. He gives his members half a smile and stands up, “I need to use the washroom!” He declares and disappears.

A brisk walk down the hallway brings Yeonjun to the bathroom where Soobin is. A quick glance inside reveals that Soobin wasn’t lying about wanting to wash his face after all.

Yeonjun knocks on the open door to alert Soobin about his presence, who spots Yeonjun in the mirror’s reflection.

“Yes?” He averts his gaze, grabbing a towel to pat his face dry as Yeonjun steps in.

Yeonjun pulls the door close behind him, walking over to Soobin nervously, “I’m sorry,” he says, out with it. No point in hiding it, or beating around the bush.

Soobin pauses, continuing to pat dry his face. Yeonjun licks his lips, “It was just a silly experiment,” he steps closer to Soobin, seeking his validation, “I didn’t mean to…make you uncomfortable…”

Soobin’s always been accepting of Yeonjun’s sexuality. But that didn’t give Yeonjun the right to push his boundaries.

“I’m sure it felt horrible to have me pounce on you like that,” Yeonjun mumbles, now wallowing in self pity and embarrassment.

Thinking back, he’s ashamed of his actions. And it’s hard to face Soobin right now. Yeonjun just stands there, fidgeting with his fingers as Soobin punishes him with silence.

Why won’t he say anything?

“You shouldn’t have done that to the others either, Hyung,” Soobin says, and Yeonjun shrinks.

He knows he was being childish, and he deserves to be condemned. But he doesn’t like it when Soobin scolds him.

He raises his head, “it was harmless kisses! We’ve all kissed before!”

It’s true that they’ve all kissed each other at some point in their lives — under different circumstances of course. Once or twice. Or accidentally. They never meant anything.

“Still,” Soobin sighs, “you shouldn’t have. We’re all grown up now,”

Yeonjun clenches his fists, his guilt mixing with unjustified rage, “you’re just a prude, Soobin!” he hisses, “this wouldn’t have happened if you’d just let me kiss you! I’m not asking you to make out with me, am I?!”

Soobin scoffs, “you’re upset with me because I’m and at you? Just because I didn’t kiss you? Are you going to keep sulking like this?” He cocks a brow, and Yeonjun swallows, “you’re no fun, Soobin! You always —“

And Yeonjun’s rant is cut short by a kiss to his lips. It’s quick and brisk, barely there, just a brush of lips. But it has the power to render Yeonjun completely silent and static.

Soobin pulls away, the tips of his ears burning red as he swipes a thumb over his lower lip, gaze averted as he clears his throat, “there? You happy?”

Soobin’s words cut through the sound of Yeonjun’s thundering heartbeat, making him gasp softly. His lips burn from the sensation, his fingers numb. He fights back the urge to lick his lips — that would be weird right? After that kiss?

But….

Yeonjun raises his head to look at Soobin, the expression on Soobin’s face morphing when their gazes lock.

Yeonjun steps closer to Soobin, tugging at the hem of Soobin’s shirt, “what’s that even going to accomplish?” he whispers, “it obviously needs to last…longer,” his voice is feathery soft by the end of his sentence.

Soobin’s lips purse ever so slightly, as if in through, hypnotisingly so because Yeonjun can’t look away.

When Yeonjun’s gaze rises to Soobin’s, his chest tightens. Soobin looks vexed, his pupils blown as he breathes raggedly.

From here, Yeonjun can hear his heart beating just as loud as Soobin’s. And all Yeonjun needs to do is close his eyes for Soobin to crash their lips together.

Now this…this is a real…kiss…

Yeonjun’s brows wriggle as Soobin presses their lips into a lock, holding for a few seconds before pulling away. Electricity jolts through Yeonjun’s body, and when he feels Soobin’s warm breath still on his lips, he whines, “not enough,” he whispers.

Soobin swoops down yet again, this time his hand coming to rest on the order’s jaw, angling it to push their lips together like a jigsaw puzzle. Yeonjun almost forgets to breathe, on his tiptoes as he leans onto Soobin for support. He itches to move his lips, but he worries about Soobin’s reaction. He settles for curling his fingers in the fabric of Soobin’s shirt as the younger pulls away, still hovering over his lips.

“How’s that?” Soobin asks softly, breathing heavily as Yeonjun shakes his head, “no good,” he breathes out as he holds Soobin’s head with his hands and leans in for another kiss.

God.

Kissing Soobin is so…

So…

When he feels the kiss about to end, Yeonjun makes sure to nibble on Soobin’s lower lip, a sly hint to the man about his intentions, about his wants.

And Soobin groans at the nibble — wrapping his arms around Yeonjun’s waist to pull him against his body. They barely break this kiss before swooping into another — this time deeper and wetter. Yeonjun finally allows himself to move his lips against Soobin’s, angling his head comfortably to let Soobin sigh into his mouth.

Yeonjun’s fingers in Soobin’s hair curl, a sensation that eggs Soobin to swiftly swipe his tongue against Yeonjun’s lower lip — asking for permission, which Yeonjun eagerly gives, moaning contently when Soobin’s tongue meets his.

Yeonjun’s sure Soobin’s feeling just as unnerved, just as tingly because the two stumble — Soobin trapping Yeonjun against the sink.

Yeonjun winces from the impact on his lower back, inevitably breaking their heated kiss. But it gives the two the chance to recuperate before diving in for a sloppier kiss — just their tongues in an unceremonious rhythm of their own, sliding against each other like silk and velvet.

Soobin licks into Yeonjun’s mouth, his hands sliding up his shirt ever so slightly. Soobin’s tongue is so large — so hot — and so hungry. Yeonjun finds it hard to set the rhythm, forced into Soobin’s pace — but he’s not complaining.

It’s like Yeonjun’s brain turns off — and he completely surrenders to Soobin’s kisses. His pants get uncharacteristically tight, and Soobin feels just as…firm against him and…

When Yeonjun tries to move — to get into a comfortable position, to get closer to Soobin, to maybe wrap his legs around the man — he knocks over the toiletries, and they plummet to the floor with a loud splat.

Not only does it prompt the two to jump away from each other, it also alerts the rest of the guys down the hallway.

“What was that? Are you two fighting?” Beomgyu calls.

Yeonjun and Soobin catch their breaths, panting as they turn to look at each other's disheveled appearances.

“Are you two okay?” Taehyun calls, and Soobin’s first to respond, “We’re good!” He announces and quickly picks up the toiletries.

He sets them on the sink and exits the bathroom, leaving Yeonjun with tingling lips and  racing heart.
