Weed. Jared thought weed would be a perfect way to waste away prom night with Evan, his family friend he totally isn’t crushing on or whatever. So there him and Evan were, high out of their minds on his bed. Each on one side of the bed, separated by nothing but the anxiety that the other doesn’t reciprocate their feelings. Jared had the blunt inbetween his fingers, staring up at the ceiling covered in blue tack marks from old posters and random shit he would stick on his ceiling. Evan was on the opposite side, curled up into one of his pillows probably on the verge of crying about some dead pigeon he saw.
Jared finally piped up “Ev, have you ever kissed someone…?” The nervous boy mumbled. Evan turned to Jared, pulling his face out of the pillow. “No…” He mumbled before continuing “I mean me and Zoe got close to it once but it never actually happened.” He looked at Jared, noticing his slightl imperfections. The way his glasses sat crooked on his face, the acne that occasionally showed up and his heterochromia. He never thought of those as weird, just as things that made his family friend he had weird romantic tension with even better.
Jared took another hit of the blunt, taking extra care to make sure the smoke didn’t hit Evan’s face “Would you ever kiss a guy?” He said, gaining some sort of confidence. Evan just shrugged and mumbled “Probably… but only you.” It was a quiet and soft but still made Jared blush, the pink hue spreading across his cheeks and up to just below his glasses.
Jared sat up, putting out the blunt and shuffling closer to Evan. “Would you kiss me… like now?” Evan looked down at his hands, fidgeting slightly before subtly nodding. Jared anxiously reached out his hand, holding Evan’s chin and making him look up at him. Evan was blushing with a small dopey smile over his face.
Jared leaned in, hyper aware of his own movements and all of Evan’s and pressed his lips against the other boy’s. The kiss was gentle and loving, communicating emotions that had been hidden since middle school despite only being a few seconds long.
They pulled away from eachother, giggling quietly and blushing like two schoolgirls. Jared slowly pulled the smaller one into his chest, holding his hand and cuddling up with Evan. Evan let Jared pull him and buried his face into Jared’s shirt with a smile.
Their caring giggles turned into soft snores as they fell asleep with eachother close, something they had been scared to do with eachother since getting bullied.
