Work Text:

He loved his work, he truly did. It was fulfilling, it kept the Autobots running head first into danger, and it kept his overactive mind occupied. It was order, it was grace, he was... going to assault his pillow with his face.
Smokescreen had taken one look at him swaying and practically had to strongarm out him out the door. "Don't come back until you've recharged, or I will let Ratchet know you haven't slept in four days."
"But-" He started, but even he heard it that time. It was less a protest and more a slurred complaint. He sighed and nodded. "Make sure Ultra Alert... Red Magnus-"
"Yeah, you need sleep. Go. I'll look at your notes and figure it out," Smokescreen said. He waved at Prowl patronizingly as he kicked him out of his own office.
Prowl, no matter what anyone would say, did not pout when he began to stumble his way back to his habsuite. He did absolutely not use the wall to stay upright and he absolutely was not seeing double as he walked.
No, he was thinking about the rest of the messages he needed to send out. Jazz is going to need.... some kind of approval papers for an op, I think... Sunstreaker and Sideswipe will be needing extraction in a few days, Ironhide has been getting sick of them... who do I send- Wasn't Jazz heading out that way soon? Or was that the Wreckers? Or Sunstreaker going to pick up Sideswipe... No, they would be together, right?
He almost passed up his room, but before the twins had left, they had lovingly painted his door a vibrant red. It... wasn't the worst idea. Maybe he could allow it this once. Would they do other colors for the rest of high command? Ultra Prignus would have dark blue, Optimus Magmus would... what color would he have? Prowl already had red, but maybe he could have a different shade of blue? Ratchet... Probably white.
Prowl keyed in his door code and slipped in as he continued to think. Jazz would probably have that perfect shade of blue...
Jazz! That message!
He could afford one house visit, right? Smokescreen wouldn't find out... probably. He might now... be awake for all of the debrief, but he could
The berth was tucking into his utilitarian room, not big enough for two, but perhaps a little large for himself. Now maybe, if they slept really close together- Prowl hummed as he fell on top of his blankets and opened the message contacts. His vision was beginning to blur, but that didn't matter. He practically had the location of his crush's contact information memorized.
Jazz...
Jazz...
Jazz...
Jazz...
Jazz!
He smiled stupidly as he opened a message on his internal HUD. Prowl's memory began to slip as he tried to compose the message, but he knew he managed to hit Send! before he fell asleep on top of his blankets.
His doorwings were going to kill him in the morning.
He was warm, floaty, and his tongue was stuck to the roof of his mouth, as all good rests happened to do. He was buried in his blankets and pillows and that one cat stuff animal that Bluestreak had managed to get for him from the carnival.
Prowl whined as he pulled his blankets over his head, not wanting to get up. A quick peek at his chronometer showed that he had slept for half the day, and he sighed. His doorwings felt nicer than they had in days and he twitched them happily. Odd, it usually took a pain patch and a visit to Ratchet to get them to feel this nice. That, or Jazz decided to come bother him-
Oh.
Oh no.
A single message in his inbox was blinking and he still had the history pulled up.

Oh no.
Prowl gulped as he looked over the dreaded messages, and then back to his room. He buried his hands into his blankets-
Oh no.
He had fallen asleep on top of his blankets and on his doorwings last night.
Someone had come in and tucked him in properly.
"No," Prowl whined as he curled up. He was already thinking about the consequences about the message and the fact that Jazz had come over and tucked him into bed and apparently massaged the kinks out of his doorwings.
"He is never going to let me live this down, but would anyone actually believe him? This seems more like something-" He perked as he realized what he could do. The Terror Twins could take the fall for this. They... They had stolen his communication tablet, yes! That could work! It wasn't like they hadn't done it before!
Relief swept through him, but was quickly replaced when he saw an alert on his HUD.
Low Fuel - 20%
Refuel required. Functions requiring fuel will begin to disable at 15%.
It looked like his next stop needed to be the Rec Room.
With a reluctant sigh, Prowl threw the covers off of himself and slipped off of his bed. He could organize the blankets later. Right now, he needed to make sure his crush didn't hate him.
It was harrowing, stepping into the Rec Room for fuel. He had various concerns that Jazz would be there, but he had managed to find the one time that Jazz wasn't there. The usuals who were, didn't seem to notice Prowl in any different light than they usually did.
He still didn't want to risk running into Jazz in a public place, so he opted to head for his office. Smokescreen wasn't guarding the door anymore, nor did anyone else, and Prowl ignored the 'Prowl, don't come back until Ratchet clears you!' sign on the door. He strode in and very promptly froze.
The door clicked behind him, and Jazz hit the lock button so that he couldn't escape.
Jazz grinned from where he sat on Prowl's desk, one leg cross over the other in a very tantalizing manner. "So, Prowler. How'd ya sleep?"
"Well. Did something happen?" Prowl asked, opting to play stupid. He straightened his back like nothing was wrong and strode behind his desk for his seat. Jazz never lost sight of Prowl, even as he peered over his shoulder.
Jazz pouted, "C'mon, mech, are we really goin' to play this game?"
Prowl took a leisurely sip of his fuel, "If you are referring to the message, I had every intent to tell you that a particular pair of twins had stolen my communications tablet last night and intended to make a mockery of me."
"Uh huh," Jazz said slowly. Without looking, he pulled a data pad off of Prowl's desk and wiggled it in front of him, "You mean this one?"
"I-I meant-" Prowl sputtered and Jazz grinned.
He turned so that he sat cross-legged on Prowl's desk. "Or ya goin' to tell me that they took your primary comms?"
"It must have been-" He tried to defend.
Jazz cut him off as he reached a hand out and thumbed at the retracted orange visor that hid under his chevron, "The one in ya helm? I'd love ta know how they managed that when they're all the way 'cross the planet. Well, they're on their way back, Smoky's arrangin' their return. He also had quite the story for me about last night. You were gettin' Ultra Magnus and Red's names tangled. Ya seemed right out of it."
Prowl tensed, but Jazz only laughed, "C'mon, Prowler, don't let my hard work go ta waste. After a message like that, it's a little hard ta ignore."
"Then why do you insist on teasing me in this manner?" Prowl demanded. He grabbed Jazz's wrist, already drafting up transfer paperwork for himself in his helm, but Jazz laughed like rich oil drizzled over the sweetest pastry he could stand to savor. He froze, waiting.
Jazz leaned in until their helms rested together and oh, didn't his lips just look so kissable-
"'Cause I've been wantin' to tell ya I live ya too-" His laugh was cut off by Prowl pushing him away, flustered. "Oh, c'mon, Prowler, it was cute! Ya even said I could snek in and everythin'!"
"Tell me again why you happen to be the one I have fallen for, because I see this may be a mistake," Prowl sputtered, still flushed deeply.
Jazz took Prowl's wrist in hand and kissed his palm, "Because I'm pretty and I'm a good spy and I'm funny and you trust me?" Even with his visor masking Jazz's optics, Prowl could tell he was getting watched like prey. "Do ya still trust me, Prowler?"
"Always," He breathed without thinking.
Jazz's ever-present grin melted into something softer, a smile that Prowl had never seen before. He leaned in again, "Then I trust ya too, Prowler. Don' go breakin' my spark."
Prowl scoffed, "I believe I should be telling that to you, you shameless flirt." His optics gleamed impishly as he finally closed the distance between him and Jazz. Their lips clashed together. It might not have been magic, it might have been a lot of teeth clashing and crushed noses, but it was right.
When they finally pulled back, Jazz had his smirk back. "So, does this mean ya can kiss my stupid face more often?"
"Out!"
