Work Text:
The polyester suits are soaked with sweat, tequila and God knows what else and Buck is scorching hot against Eddie’s side, pressed in as far as he can while the impromptu stag guests quickly divest them of ever getting their deposit back.
Eddie had spent most of the first part of Chim’s bachelor party arguing the case against why he and Buck should do a speech together. Most of his argument had been that it was too late in the day for it to be any good and surely Hen and Buck are better choices for the wedded couple to be. Buck had looked so defeated, probably by the wider shitshow of the bachelor party having no bachelor that he almost took it back.
Buck had restated his case in the Uber, beating back Eddie’s claims they were now too hammered for it to make any sense by sagely saying “write drunk, edit sober”. It was, to Eddie at least, undeniable logic so he started tapping into his notes app as Buck shushed their increasingly bemused driver who said he doubted they’d be sober enough to edit in time for the wedding. They got as far as starting an acrostic poem with Chim and Maddie’s names where Eddie wrote ‘C is for Chimney’ and then they arrived. The speech idea is swiftly forgone in the place of celebrating the absent groom with lots and lots of shots
The room feels underwater to Eddie, people dancing in a floaty sort of way, gesturing to each other in groups and talking over music that is muffled beneath the hilarious story Buck is half laughing into his ear. He can’t quite discern the details but it’s Buck, of course it’s a hilarious story. His breath is gusting over Eddie’s ear, tequila laced bursts of warmth.
Buck’s hand is gripping his thigh. He’d not stopped touching Eddie in what felt like hours. Arm slung around his shoulder as they belt out ballad after ballad, pulling him by the wrist into the hotel room along with their twenty new best friends, fingers hot on the side of his face as he poured something sweet and tangy down Eddie’s throat. Most of it had dripped down to the front of his suit so naturally Buck had pawed him dry without a second thought.
They’ve been shushed by security twice and the party has shed nearly as many members as he and Buck have shed clothes.
“I’m going to get another drink - do you want anything? Buck says, mostly into Eddie’s neck at this point. He yanks himself to his feet and Eddie feels bereft of the comfortable heat he’s grown used to.
”You know what I want” Eddie says with an exaggerated grin and he tries to make a jokey lascivious wink. He’s pretty sure he blinks instead.
Buck laughs, head thrown back and full bodied and Eddie feels himself grin all the wider. Buck looks at him and winks back, one eye then the other like a broken doll and now Eddie’s laughing and Buck’s turned away, shoulders rolling with mirth.
Christ he needs to sober up.
Eddie stumbles to the bathroom and splashes water on his face, a meagre effort to combat the level of everything else cruising round his system. How many splashes of water to the face and his bare chest would defeat the last four hours of hedonism? What was the ratio of H20 to ethanol and sugar? It’s the kind of thing Hen would know.
The Eddie that looks back at him is flushed and blurry, pink cheeks brighter against the pastel of his suit jacket. Where was his shirt? He dimly remembers it vanishing with a tearing sound.
Someone hammers on the door and he lurches out. The room is 1% less soupy so he needs more water splashes to the face.
“Sorry,” a girl in a pink boa says as she dances from foot to foot. She usurps him from the bathroom and he’s outside. The water splashes would have to wait.
“Go piss girl” Eddie instructs. Piss girl’s companion, in a green boa, hey we’re matching, he remembers having told her hours earlier in the night, claps him on the back as she laughs, steadying herself against him. They both wave and wobble. Eddie grins before frowning . “I don’t get it…it’s something Buck says” he admits. He thinks Buck got it from May.
‘I think it's just so cute, ' she says, high pitched and fanning herself. “That you and your fiancé decided to do your bachelor parties together.”
Eddie looks at her. Does she think he’s marrying Chim? She’s not even met Chim. Maddie is marrying Chim. Sure Maddie and Eddie could sound the same if you were really drunk and if Eddie is being honest with himself, he thinks everyone might be a little drunk right now.
He shrugs.
Her pink boa’d friend stumbles back out of the bathroom looking decidedly less stressed.
“Your husband-to-be is looking for you,” the pink boa says. “He’s got” and she wiggles her eyebrows ‘just what you want’ apparently”. Green boa laughs and steers her pink friend back into the main room.
Drunk girls don’t always make sense, Eddie thinks. A new, but oh so familiar, noise is entering his periphery and he turns drawn to an approaching Buck carrying two drinks of undetermined origin.
Buck looks delighted to have found him again. Eddie is delighted too. Delighted looks good on Buck, he’s more flushed than Eddie was in the mirror, blue eyes crinkled and bright against Eddie’s dark brown.
One of the mystery drinks is pressed into his hand and Buck is leaning into him licking a stripe up his face chasing the remainder of the water Eddie splashed there. Eddie rears back laughing.
“Gotta hydrate in between drinks man” Buck says grinning and makes to get the other side of Eddie’s face. Eddie ducks him, redirecting him to a cheers. As they knock glasses, Buck launches into some mixologist spiel. Eddie slings an arm over his shoulder to bring him closer as the music is muffling his explanation. The drink is a mix of whatever was left of the mini bar. Buck’s even crumbled up some pringles to make a pale imitation of a salt rim. “For texture Eddie” he insists and they knock them back. They’re disgusting but strong and that feels to be the important thing.
The heat is back and so is that familiar pressure of Buck plastered to his side, or is he plastered to Buck? It’s hard to tell. Eddie licks up the side of Buck’s face and Buck trembles, he doesn’t appear to be laughing though and twists to stare at Eddie, his eyes are big and close and his mouth is twisted in a handsome smile that Eddie has seen him use a hundred times.
Eddie swallows and holds his gaze. That heat is everywhere, even the points they’re not touching. The room is a sauna. “Hydration” he manages just as Buck moves, he moves, they move and they’re kissing.
Buck’s mouth tastes of salt and spirits and it’s delicious and Eddie loses himself in the press of his soft lips and the barest scrape of stubble against his hand as he cups Buck’s face. Buck’s hands are moving - perhaps unsure of where to land before they settle on Eddie’s hips, engulfing them in his large palms. Buck squeezes as he presses deeper into the kiss and Eddie groans. This breaks them apart.
There’s a beat as they stare at each other, both breathing raggedly, only allowing a sliver of space between them. Buck’s cheeks and birthmark have reddened, racing past sun-kissed into sun-frenched, sun-drenched?
“Sun-fucked” Eddie decides, his voice at Buck-only volume, running a finger over the birthmark fondly. They’re so close that even with the music blaring Eddie hears Buck gulp as he does so and is met with a heavy gaze as Buck flexes his hand on Eddie’s hip again. His hips stutter forward and Buck grins, the flash of vulnerability Eddie thinks he saw, vanishing.
“You’re drunk.” Buck accuses his fingers sliding up the open suit jacket to dig into Eddie’s bare sides. Eddie narrows his eyes as if to say “well duh” and Buck laughs - head falling forward into Eddie’s shoulder. “You taste like pringles,” he murmurs into Eddie’s neck. He can feel Buck’s lips moving and he groans again.
“I heard it’s good for texture” he gasps out as Buck licks, long and hot up to his jaw. He can’t be getting water now, only sweat, Eddie’s skin feels tight and charred, like any moisture should evaporate instantly. Buck huffs a laugh and their mouths slide together again.
Eddie has made out plenty before but he doesn’t think he’s ever been kissed before. Not like this. He’s dimly aware the drinks are helping but the way Buck is thoroughly kissing him is setting him alight. He’s not sure when they found the couch but Buck is on top of him pressing him back into the cushions and Eddie is pushing back, ripping Buck’s suit jacket off and throwing it away with a viciousness that makes Buck laugh, his chest flush against Eddie’s face as he turns to see where Eddie sent his clothes. He pulls his once-white t-shirt off too, still laughing. Eddie resists the urge to sink his teeth into the meat of Buck’s chest. He can feel the press of Buck’s erection against him, huge and hot beneath those stupid green suit pants. Buck appears at eye level again with a grin.
“What did that jacket do to you? I thought I looked good” he teases, pulling Eddie’s jacket from him in a single calm tug and God Eddie wants him.
“You know you always look good.” Eddie replies shortly wrenching him back down for a kiss. Buck’s hands are scorching as they run over his face and chest, down to his legs to squeeze at his thighs. They hesitate at his belt buckle and Eddie bats his hands away to fumble them down. The rattle and clink of the metal briefly sounds too loud in his ears but then Buck’s low groan of appreciation drowns it out as he swoops down to bite at Eddie’s lips and he’s lost in that building building heat as they both clumsily grind together.
Then Buck leans back, his weight vanishing and Eddie’s eyes snap open to see Buck sink to his knees and the world momentarily goes quiet. Buck’s large hands that Eddie’s so familiar with on his face, sides, hips are tugging down his suit pants, unveiling the straining drenched fabric underneath. Eddie’s silent world keeps spinning as he watches Buck drink him in, his eyes as hot and heavy as his hands have been. Eddie’s skin feels charred from the way Buck’s gaze simmers. He looks as if he’s about to eat Eddie alive and Eddie can’t wait to be consumed.
Pre-empting any hesitation on either of their parts Eddie slides his underwear down, Buck’s hands race to meet his own and they pull them off together, working together smooth and easy. Buck drags them down Eddie’s legs and casts them aside like they offended him. Eddie opens his mouth to defend his briefs as they don’t deserve the same treatment as the suit jacket did. The briefs were Eddie’s favourite and suit, well it looked good on Buck but it frankly looked better off him.
He has no time for this however as Buck finally looks back at him, his eyes heavy and hooded before he takes Eddie into his mouth. The only word Eddie can manage then are at “fuck” as Buck bobs slowly, his hand working Eddie where his mouth and throat can’t take him yet.
It’s messy and so fucking hot and Buck’s so fucking good at this and Eddie tells him all this and more, as he runs his fingers over the hollow of Buck’s cheeks as he sucks him down. Eddie’s head falls back into the cushions as he loses himself in the hot pull of Buck’s mouth. He clenches his hands as they itch to grab onto the side of Buck’s face, stroke him, hold him in place so Eddie can fuck into him. Buck pulls off him to breath in raggedly, mouthing around Eddie’s dick as he does so. He looks incredible, Eddie thinks. He can see that Buck is stroking himself in his free hand, pants barely down his long legs enough to free himself, catching glimpses of his dick as Buck works himself.
He’s briefly aware of there being something…someone…maybe some people that he and Buck should be thinking about but they’re nowhere near as important and vital as to what’s happening now. Buck takes him down again, deeper this time and Eddie’s hips pitch forward so slightly, Buck groans around him and surges forward knocking one of Eddie’s legs onto his shoulder. The angle drags Eddie further down the couch, curling towards Buck.
Buck reaches wildly and grabs Eddie’s hand, planting it to his head and Eddie grips automatically and Buck seemingly satisfied doubles his efforts. It feels so good it hurts. Not physically that wouldn’t be possible but somewhere. Eddie lets his eyes fall closed as the air around them roils.
“I’m going to come - “ Eddie groans, flailing weakly as Buck bats his hands away. He pulses into Buck’s mouth with a cry that feels punched out of them. The white hot of his orgasm seeps through every part of his body and he hauls himself up and his eyes open gasping. Buck pulls off him in the same moment, rocking back on his heels and wiping his mouth. Their eyes meet, wild and all Eddie can say dumbly is “that was…you didn’t have to swallow it.”
Buck laughs, “hydration” he says, his voice is wrecked and Eddie wrinkles his nose but it tears a laugh out of him too. Eddie hauls him back, half on the couch, half on Eddie and kisses him. Buck’s groan sounds as surprised as it is turned on and his hands begin to move over his dick again.
Eddie presses kisses all over his face as Buck pants atop him. He makes a move to help and Buck shakes his head, so Eddie decides to describe how good he looks, how good he made Eddie feel, and Buck’s eyes go impossibly wide, his chest heaving as he comes over them both.
His eyes slide blissfully closed as he comes, letting Eddie commit the image to memory. The way every taut line and muscle in Buck’s body relax as go beautifully slack as he comes. He’s pretty in pink from head to cock Eddie thinks fondly, almost a new shade of sun-fucked. Eddie-fucked. He manages to keep that one to himself.
He pulls Buck in to kiss him again, lazily until the come between them becomes tacky and they decide the best course of action is to just wash with their clothes on. “We’re washing us and our clothes” Buck mumbles as he lies back on the somehow still white rug in the centre of the room while Eddie manoeuvres himself into the bathtub.
“Where is everyone?” he says sleepily as Eddie inspects the taps. The brief movement from the couch and subsequent descent into the ceramic cocoon of the tub has resettled all the booze in his system and it’s pulling his eyelids down. Closing them for a moment won’t hurt, he thinks.
“Probably good they left when they did” he is pretty sure he says as he closes his eyes to remember if it was better to wash in hot water or cold water for stains.
The next thing he knows he is wrenched awake at Buck’s voice with a pounding headache and the worst crick in his neck since his last tour. His mouth feels bruised and what the fuck did he spill on himself?
Buck seems equally bewildered and out of sorts, pawing clumsily at clothes that have been separated to all four corners of the suite. They dress in a nauseating blur that quickly sharpens into hungover panic when it becomes clear that Chimney is nowhere to be found.
If nothing else the rush of the day helps stave off the worst of the hangover and the news that Chimney’s going to be alright nearly brings Eddie to his knees in the hotel lobby with relief.
He opts instead for a plush ottoman near the entrance so the breeze can bring him fully back to life. He starts working his way through the menu of drinks he can remember having last night and a red can with a moustachioed mascot swims into view…did they drink out of a pringles can?
He kept catching Buck staring at him with an unrecognisable impression while they were looking for any sign of where Chim could be and smiling back. Losing your almost brother-in-law whilst having the hangover from hell was an unholy combination. Was it…guilt for losing Chim? No…was it confusion, the same Eddie had as to what happened in those missing hours? No. He almost looked happy but weird.
Buck's happiness was bubbling and contagious, it brought everyone along for the ride. This was something else.
He’d ducked Eddie’s eyes after a few seconds and Eddie had resigned himself to bringing it up later. When he felt less like he was going to redecorate the lobby floor.
He’s brought from his thoughts by a woman calling to him, “You know you still look ok for how bad I imagine you must feel!” She smiles at him, her face is familiar but not recognisable, and offers him one of the two Gatorades she’s holding. Eddie feels like he should refuse out of principle but that feels like self-sabotage at this point. He takes the drink. It’s the blue flavour, whatever that means.
“We’re just heading out to dinner and I saw you so we grabbed these from the vending machine outside.” She gestures towards another woman who waves from near the door. “She’s looking out for our Uber but she says thanks for the wild night.” Eddie’s brain does a low-budget cop drama enhance and their faces slide into vague recognition.
“Green and pink boa” He announces and green boa finger-guns him. If she’s bemused by her nickname she doesn’t show it. Pink boa shouts from the door and makes to go outside. Evidently their Uber has arrived.
Green boa places the other bottle next to him, “for your groom - is he doing the same as you or somehow worse?” The somehow worse should feel mean but Eddie thinks it’s fair especially as she gave him Gatorade which is definitely helping. He’s surprised the hotel staff haven’t asked him to move on.
“He’s in hospital but he’ll be fine - not sure Gatorade will help him but he’ll appreciate it.” He replies. Electrolytes probably don’t make encephalitis worse after all. Hen would know. Eddie probably should know but what he does know right now is not a huge amount but this bright blue flavoured drink is making things better.
“Damn dude what did you do to him?” Green boa laughs, her phone buzzes and she readies herself to go. “I’ve never been fucked so good it put me in hospital but I’d definitely lock that down if I had been.”
The headache that the hydration had been slowly chipping away blooms back to life behind Eddie’s eyes and he can hear his heart pound.
“What?” is all he manages. Green boa is already moving and flaps her hands in a facsimile of a calm down gesture.
“Don’t worry - you and your man were just making out when we all left. I mean it was pretty clear where it was going so we thought we’d leave you to it. Congratulations and all that!” She delivers the last part half over her shoulder as she jogs to join her friend and Eddie is left on his own.
He raises the hand holding the drink to call her back but she’s gone so he considers the drink instead. All of a sudden another blue springs to his mind, two blue eyes staring up at him as Buck gasps around Eddie’s cock. The half drunk bottle hits the floor and rolls just out of reach, mocking him.
A tendril of heat curls in his stomach as the drunken memories of last night filter into his mind.
Buck on him and pressing him down into that awful couch.
Eddie shucking his briefs and pulling Buck close.
Buck’s hands, tongue and mouth on him.
Buck.
Buck.
Buck.
Eddie finishes his Gatorade. Then the one intended for Buck. He can buy him another one. He will buy him another one, and probably dinner and hopefully breakfast.
Before that they’ll talk. Then Eddie will probably break up with his girlfriend. Buck will do whatever he needs to with Tommy. Eddie probably needs to cancel his basketball commitments. Then dinner and hopefully breakfast.
Hopeful. That was the look on Buck’s face when he’d been looking at Eddie. Despite himself Eddie smiles aware, he must look insane and begins to make his way to the elevators, towards Buck. With each step the same feeling of hope rushes to fill every part of his body with a steady, thrumming, joyous warmth.
