Work Text:
It was a bright New York day and Peter Parker had just gotten out of his last class of the week at ESU. He had taken the day off from his photography job at the Bugle, so he had the day to himself. As he walked to the subway station, he heard the familiar sound of Firestarter play from his phone. As he pulled it out, he already knew who it was, but he still checked who sent it. “Hotshot <3”
“Hey, we still on for lunch today babe?” the message read.
“Yeah, see you there hun <3” Peter replied, now smiling as he boarded the subway.
It was about an hour and a half until lunch and Johnny was panicking a little. Yes he and Peter had been dating for a few years now, moved in together, kinda (he still had to be at the Baxter Building a lot, so he’d spend a lot of his nights there) but, this was different.
“Keep it together. It’s nothing but a proposal Johnny, Keep it together.” He said clutching a ring box
The only other person who knew about this was his sister, who he had confided in the night before
“Just be yourself Johnny” Sue said to him the night before.
“I just- don’t want to screw this up Sue. I love him, you know” Johnny replied
“You’ve got this, Johnny, I believe in you” She spoke
“Thank you, Sue.” he responded
Johnny started to leave for his lunch, ring in hand before he ran into Sue
“Good luck, Johnny” she said
“Thank you” He replied
Peter sat at the restaurant, a cozy little bistro in Queens which he had gotten to five minutes early and waited for Johnny to arrive. As Johnny entered the bistro, he took one last deep breath before walking over to the table Peter was at.
“Hey hotshot.” Peter greeted, leaning in for a kiss
“Hey, Petey” Johnny replied, kissing him back and then taking a seat
“So, how was your day?” Peter asked.
“Good, how about yours?” He replied
“Not bad, just some math classes, nothing hard.” Peter replied
The couple ordered and ate their lunch, and after they ate, the two wandered around until they ended up at the Brooklyn Bridge Park, One of Peter's favorite places in the city.
“The park’s really nice” Peter commented
“Yeah, it is,” Johnny replied, reaching into the pocket of his leather jacket.
“Could you turn around real quick?” he asked
“Sure, Johnny” he replied, turning away from him for a second
Johnny pulled out the ring box and got on one knee
“Peter Benjamin Parker. Will you marry me?” Johnny spoke, opening the ring box
“Yes I will,” Peter answered.
