Work Text:
Kathryn planned her mission carefully.
She gathered Phoebe, who idolised her (Kathryn wasn’t sure how she felt about this, but she could use it) and her father, who doted on her.
She eyed her mother, who'd introduced Kathryn to words like ‘idolised’ and ‘doted’ as well as phrases like ‘a dog is for life, not just for Christmas’.
She launched first her attack—life was full of twists and turns. You never knew when you would have to take on new and big responsibilities. Kathryn was ready—and then the killing blow: Christmas wasn’t the same thing as her birthday.
