As long as we agree

Summary:

There was a perfect and unbelievable balance.

Elena walked undisturbed through the palace.

“Elena,” Elijah’s voice made her turn, “you look tired.”

“I’m a pregnant vampire.” Elena said, her voice flat as it was since her emotions got turned off. “Of course, I’m tired. And so done with Klaus’ antics.”

Day 3 - undefeated

Work Text:

There was a perfect and unbelievable balance.

Elena walked undisturbed through the palace.

“Elena,” Elijah’s voice made her turn, “you look tired.”

“I’m a pregnant vampire.” Elena said, her voice flat as it was since her emotions got turned off. “Of course, I’m tired. And so done with Klaus’ antics.”

Being an undefeated immortal hybrid made him insufferable.

Elena thought he was annoying before, but after he got back his kingdom, he got so much worse.

At least, she mused, he promised not to dagger his siblings, just to keep the emotionless vampire occupied and unable to destroy his plot to destroy the world.

“I can see how bad his actions may look in your eyes.” Elijah nodded. “But my brother is merely trying to get our home back.”

“Hey, I’m not judging his questionable choices.” Elena shrugged. “I have no emotions, remember? Whatever he does, it’s simply logical in my eyes, at this exact moment. I have a child to worry about, and I don’t care if Klaus decides to kill everyone. As long as he keeps the fight away from me.”

“Maybe you could think about involving yourself a bit more into our lives.” Elijah suggested. “After all, you will be part of this family.”

“So, what? Should I go and talk with vampires, werewolves and witches?” Elena snorted. “I have no emotions, and I don’t particularly care for these witches. Not after what they did to Davina.”

Something inside Elena hissed at the mere thought.

“That was exactly what I meant.” Elijah nodded, clearly proud of his little schemes. “You are involved, you’re simply using me, Rebekah, Kol, and sometimes even Niklaus, to get your point made. You could get involved a little more.”

“I don’t want these witches to know that a doppelganger is pregnant.” Elena admitted. “It won’t end well. Maybe, after… I could pretend it’s my brother’s child, and get more involved. As long as I won’t be scolded for killing the most annoying ones.”

Elijah smiled. “I wouldn’t ever think about holding you back.”

“As long as we agree on that.” Elena smiled back.
