Summary:

After a crappy long day Jungwon heads off to the bank to fix up some issue with his account. Whilst waiting in line however, he is royally screwed up when he sees 3 armed robbers storming into the building. Now, trapped inside the building in a hostage situation, Jungwon has to see if he will survive the afternoon.

Notes:

Hey, this will just be a singular chapter oneshot sorta thing. Just really love bank robbery au's but can never find many, so I thought, why tf not write one myself. I am currently writing another story that's TXT-based, but I haven't added any chapters in a little while cause I've been focusing on Uni :) will do soon.

Work Text:

'God I need a coffee' Is what Jungwon was thinking as he strutted down the main street of the city.

After the shitshow that was his day, he wanted to get his tasks done for the day then crash on the couch at home watching Disney movies whilst chugging obsene amounts of coffee. Firstly, he had slept in, causing him to have to panic whilst getting ready, and in doing so accidentally grabbed the wrong shoes, prompting him to show up to the cafe he works at in Slipper boots. Not the best impression he wanted to make on his coworkers as he headed behind the counter wearing fuzzy green slippers.

Next on his list of fuck ups, he accidently dropped a drink on a customer. Someone was being a douche and stuck their foot out, causing Jungwon to go flying and end up dropping a drink on a very expensive looking customer, who was none to pleased to have an iced coffee dumped on their fancy looking suit. The man spent a good 10 minutes screaming at Jungwon before he could even get a word in, but as Jungwon began to apologise and offer a refund, the man stormed out, yelling that his manager would be hearing about it.

After work, Jungwon just wanted to go and die in a hole, slide down into a sewer and never return. "

Maybe I could make friends with the turtles down there, they'll like my Taekwondo," Jungwon stated as he walked down the street, his phone on call with his best friend Sunoo.

Sunoo was chilling at their shared apartment, enjoying his day off, sitting on the couch, catching up on Criminal Minds.

"Do not give up because you made one mistake. Come home and continue my show. I just got up to Mr. Scratch ,and you know I can't watch that episode without someone there to hold me. It's too creepy," He squealed into the phone as he flopped around the couch.

"Yes yes I know. No, Scratch alone, I've heard that rule a million times. You even wrote that on the whiteboard!" Jungwon slightly raised his voice, not significantly, though, since he was out in public.

"It needed to be on there so you remember!"

"YOU WROTE IT WITH A SHARPIE! That shit's not coming off I swear to freaking g-" Jungwon was cut off by Sunoo repeatedly apologising, begging for forgiveness.

After a moment, the begging finally stopped. Sunoo cleared his throat and pulled the phone back to his ear.

"S,o when are you getting home? You finished like 20 minutes ago," Sunoo looked at his arm, reading his imaginary clock.

"I told you, remember? I have to stop at the bank quickly. My app is acting up, and the interest I got wasn't right. Should be home in the hour or so"

"Ahhh yeah. Forgot, woospie. Kay, I'll chat to you later. One last thing, though, you remember my friend Heeseung?" Sunoo slyly threw in the name. Jungwon could already sense the question was about to be followed by a whole lot more.

"Yeah, the one that's a regular at the cafe, right? Espresso Macchiato? Why?" Jungwon smirked slightly as he walked into the bank, heading up the queue already there.

"Well, he told me that he has a single friend, and he was looking through Heeseung's Instagram and found the photo of us from the bar a couple of weeks ago. Well, he really liked your picture and asked Heeseung for your number?? What do you say?" Sunoo wasn't giggling or making any noise, but Jungwon could sense how happy the other was through his voice.

"I dunno, Maybe, who is it-" Jungwon was cut off by a loud banging sound. Startled, he looked over to the entrance only to be left in horror.

There, standing by the entrance, were 3 men all armed with guns and ammo for days. The leader in the middle, well, who Jungwon assumed was the leader, began shouting.

"Hands in the air and nobody gets hurt!"

Jungwon just sat there in fear, forgetting he was on call.

"Jungwon! Jungwon! What's going on? Why is there shouting? Are you okay?" Sunoo began panicking, not liking how the call was sounding.

Suddenly, one of the armed men looked over and made eye contact with Jungwon, noticing the phone in his hand.

"Hey! You cutie! Hand over the phone," He began marching over, hand out in a demanding manner. Jungwon didn't say a word and handed the phone over.

Screaming began blaring through the building as hostages were being moved to one side of the room, with one armed man pointing guns and directing them, whilst the other pulled out a bag of zip ties, tying everyone's hands together.

The man in front of Jungwon just looked at him and smirked, scaring Jungwon more than he already was.

"Come on, cutie, move it or else" Jungwon did not want to know what 'else' meant, but he sure as hell did not want to find out. He was dragged towards the group of hostages and was thrown at the end of the line, sitting next to a boy around his age.

Jungwon couldn't deny the fact that the boy next to him was gorgeous. He was like a model worthy in his eyes, and though terrified, Jungwon couldn't stop taking glances at the guy. He was the type of guy Jungwon would stare at a bar but never talk to cause he was always chicken out.

Jungwon was shaken out of his thoughts though, when one of the robbers came over to him, Zipties in hand. Jungwon didn't fight back and just held his hands out to be tied.

As they were being tied, he couldn't help but feel scared. The feeling just set in that he was a hostage in a robbery, and could possibly die right here. He tried to fight back tears but was unsuccessful, and slowly a tear fell down his face, falling down to his jaw.

The robber noticed and brought his hand up to wipe Jungwon's tears. The motion, whilst harmless, sent chills down Jungwon's spine at how creepy it felt.

The guy next to him noticed how uncomfortable Jungwon had become and turned around to face the robber, deciding to speak up since Jungwon was too scared.

'Hey creep, leave him alone. It's money you want, right? Just leave us be" He pretended to be as confident as he could, internalising the concept 'fake it till you make it'.

The robber just laughed in his face, turning his attention back to Jungwon as he grabbed the younger's face, quickly grabbing his face and kissing him, then pushing his face back and turning to the boy again.

"You think you have any control over what happens, kid? Get over yourself and shut up before I grab that lady's scarf over there and shove it down your throat" The robber then stood up and walked off, but not before he tapped Jungwons face, laughing at how Jungwon recoiled so fast.

"Are you okay?" The boy leaned over, placing his hands on Jungwons shoulder as best he could considering they were tied.

"Yeah, I'm fine. He could've done a lot worse. I'll manage" Jungwon smiled, but it was obvious the smile was fake and he was trying to hold in tears again.

The boy noticed it and attempted to relieve some stress by starting a conversation with the 2.

"Hey, I'm Jay and I'm 22, how bout you?" He smiled at Jungwon, trying to calm the boy down.

Jungwon sat up and tried to calm himself down a little, preparing to speak.

"Jungwon, I'm 20" He couldn't meet Jay in the eyes; however, he was too scared to look away from the ground. Scared he would make contact with the robbers.

"Well, Jungwon, How about we just chat a little, get your mind off what is happening. I know in these situations it's best to try and find some familiarity to hold onto to. Find something to do to calm yourself down, so do you wanna play 20 questions?" Jay shimmied over and sat shoulder to shoulder with Jungwon. Jungwon cleared his throat and looked at his shoes, trying to find the courage to look up.

"Okay I'll go first. What is your favourite food?" Jay was speaking to him casually, like other wasn't 3 guys running around with guns as he could hear hundreds of sirens blaring outside. He assumed the cops were there trying to negotiate their release, god knows how long they've already been there.

"Strawberries....Strawberries with chocolate. You?" Jungwon had to think for a second, and all he could think about was how Sunoo laughed at him for how he pronounced it in English.

"Not too sure. But I could really go for a burger right now. My mate Ni-Ki works at a restaurant near here, and their burgers are to die for. You gotta try the Original. S'gots pickles, mustard, tomato sauce, cheese, onions and lettuce, but I also ask for a little bacon on it. Just makes it even better" Jay was just staring at the ceiling as he spoke, as though there was nothing to worry about. It honestly scared Jungwon how calm Jungwon was.

"My friend is dating a dude called Ni-Ki actually, and he works at this place nearby, like The Bit Me Hotel or something" Jungwon couldn't stop thinking about Sunoo, how he went form complaining about his day with him to being tied up on the floor of a bank whilst robbers run around draining any dollar they can find.

"Wait! My Ni-ki works there. Would your friend happen to be Sunoo??" Jay looks over at Jungwon in shock. What are the odds that the guy sitting next to him knows his friends, god it's a small world.

"Yeah, Sunoo. He's my roommate, actually. Don't remember him mentioning a Jay, though, sorry. Jungwon finally looks at Jay, and Jay looks like he recognises him, but Jungwon doesn't.

"It makes sense. I only met Ni-ki like a month ago. He's besties with my mate Heeseung. We all actually met at his burger place. Funny question, but would you have happened to be at the XO Club like 3 weeks ago?"

Okay, that was a weird and very specific question, but Jungwon couldn't find any reason to lie to the man in front of him.

"Yeah. Sunoo and I went for the night. I didn't want to go, but he was insistent cause he had some friends there. Actually, Heeseung and Ni-Ki were with us now that I can remember. I remember Heeseung wouldn't stop taking photos of me and Sunoo, kept saying it was for 'research', but didn't question it" Jungwon actually laughed slightly, remembering the moments with a smile on his face.

"About that research....Did Sunoo tell you anytime recently about a mate of Heeseung wanting your number?" Jay looks away in embarrassment, trying to hide his face in his knees.

"Yeah...wait, how did you know that, are you-" Jungwon looked at Jay confused, how tf does he know so much?

"Honestly, I didn't recognise you at first when the robber dude threw you next to me. You look a whole lot better in person than in the photos. But hey, I'm Jay, tryna get that number" Jay stuck his hand out to shake Jungwon's hand, slightly laughing at the funny moment. Small world indeed.

"Omg! Sunoo was literally telling me about that as the robbers came in, I didn't get a name or anything, cause they took my phone" Jungwon looks at Jay with stars in his eyes. What a coincidence that the really hot guy next to him comforting him was actually interested in him cause of some crappy club photos.

As they were getting into the conversation, they were cut off by gun shots ringing through the room, scaring all hotages present. The three robbers storm into the main hall where they had put all the hostages and began fighting between each other.

"It's too risky having them all just sitting here. It's even more with us being trapped in one building and the cops outside" Robber 1 said, packing up his stuff.

"What do you expect us do then. We've got the getaway parked we just need to get out, just what to do with all the fuck heads over here" Robber 2 directed his hands to the hostages, who were just sitting there terrified. The sound of the conversation made it feel like they were either going to be released or killed.

"I say we just take one, like a hostage for the insurance. They can't shoot at us in the car if we've got one with us," Robber 3 smirked as he looked over at the people lined against the wall, seeing the colour drain from their face at the idea of all but one being set free.

"Works with me, grab one and go. I don't care which one you grab, just make sure it's one you can handle. I'll go grab the cash" Robber 1 stormed off, directing the other 2 to release the hostages.

"Okay. Eenie, Meanie, Minie, Moe, which one to pick?" Robber 2 and 3 began walking around, inspecting the hostages. tryna figure out which would be best to grab.

Suddenly, Jungwon was being pulled up from his seat on the floor and dragged to the middle of the room. Robber 3 had pulled him over to number 2.

"This one's good. Small, quiet, pretty easy to throw around. Let's get going" Number 3 looked at number 2 for confirmation, and the nod was all he needed.

He threw Jungwon over his shoulder and began walking to the back of the building. Jungwon hadn't said a word, not fully understanding what was happening. It wasn't until he could hear Jay from the other room screaming for him that he realised what was happening.

"JUNGWON!" was echoing through the halls, but Robber 3 didn't care; he continued walking, finally making it to the car in the back of the building. It was a sleek black Van with an electrical company logo slapped on the sides. On the outside, it looked pretty normal, but when Robber 3 opened the back door and put Jungwon down, he realised the extent of the robbery. There were millions of dollars staked on the floor of the van, and a bench for sitting covered in different types of weapons and ropes. Jungwon didn't even get a chance to say anything before a strip of cloth was tightly tied around his mouth, restricting any noise coming from him.

Robber 3 then went behind Jungwon and picked him up, tossing him into the back of the car as Robber 3 climbed in after him, closing the door once they were both inside. Robbers 1 and 2 followed quickly after, jumping into the driver's and passenger seat, leaving Jungwon in the back with the cargo and robber 3. Robber 1 turned around to check the loot, but also to see which hostage they grabbed. He smirked at the sight of Jungwon, sending shivers down his spine.

"Nice choice due. Should come in handy," Jungwon wanted to scream at that, and he began thrashing around, trying to get the Zipties off his hands or his gag, but neither were budging. Robber 3 grabbed him before he could do worse and pinned him to the floor, grabbing some rope and tying his legs together.

"God kid, didn't you learn anything from before. Don't fight back or you'll get a bullet," Robber 3 grunted in frustration as he finished tying Jungwon's legs together. Jungwon just began sobbing, realising what was happening. He was held hostage in a bank robbery, and now was in the back of a van being abducted and taken god knows where, with no idea if he will live to see tomorrow.

As the car began to leave the site of the crime, however, they were quickly surrounded by cop cars, with around 3 blocking every direction. The van was stuck and they had no way out. The robbers began screaming and cussing, not knowing what to do.

"What do we do? Leave the money? Smash through a car?" Robber 2 began panicking, pulling at their hair.

"What no. This is why we grabbed the hostage fucking dumbass, open the door and show the police we have the kid. They'll fuck off if they know whats best" Robber 1 calmed himself, not bothering to worry once he remembered they had a hostage in the back.

The door on the side of the van slammed open, and immediately Jungwon was jolted up, forcing him to sit up and lean onto Robber 3. The feeling felt horrible, but there wasn't much Jungwon could do in this situation; the only body part he had free range to move was his eyes at this point.

Robbery 3 pulled out a gun and pointed it at Jungwon's waist, keeping him close to the robber to ensure the cops wouldn't do anything stupid.

Out of nowhere, though, the robber holding Jungwon fell backwards, and it wasn't until Jungwon turned around that he noticed the guy was dead.

He had been shot point-blank in the head and had died almost instantly. Jungwon was terrified. He began screaming as much as he could with the cloth on his mouth, and began thrashing around, trying to get away from the body.

Robbers 1 and 2 noticed the commotion, and when they turned around and spotted number 3 dead, they got out of the van and attempted to make a run for it. They didn't get very far.

Next thing Jungwon knew, there was someone in front of him pulling the gag out of his mouth and untieing his legs. After a second thought, Jungwon realised the guy helping him was Jay.

Once he could talk and move again, he latched onto Jay, refusing to let go as he sobbed into his shoulder.

"It's ok. It's okay, baby, you're gonna be okay. I've got you," Jay began stroking his hair as Jungwon continued to sob, tears staining Jay's shirt, but he couldn't care less.

Jungwon slightly composed himself and looked up at Jay, just now realising that somehow he was here, and not with the other hostages getting treated and taking statements.

"How are you here? Aren't you with the hostages?"

"Yeah, I was, but I was fine. The guys needed me, though. I told them they had taken you somewhere else and that we needed to surround the back of the building. Couldn't sit there knowing they could have been driving off with you" Jay held Jungwon's shoulders, staring at him with intensity and compassion, making Jungwon's heart fold

"The guys needed you? God, you sound like a frat bro or something," Jungwon slightly laughed, trying to calm down slightly.

"Ha Ha Ha, very funny, Mr. But they did need me, I'm actually a cop, so I had to help out no matter what. Gotta put the bad guys away and save the damsels, ya know,w" Jay smirked as he leaned down and kissed Jungwon's hand, playing up the theatrics.

"Omg you actual sap. You're so lucky you're cute, otherwise I would've called a cop over to remove you" Jungwon couldn't stop laughing now. Such as a clear contrast to him 5 minutes ago, uncontrollably sobbing.

"Well, it worked, didn't it. You think I could get that number now?" Jay looked up at Jungwon, playing up his puppy eyes, and he could tell Jungwon was falling for them.

"God, not the puppy eyes. But yes, I think you've earned it" Jungwon smiled as he stuck his hand out.

Jay stared at him, confused. "You like wanna pen or my phone, cause I got neither sorry"

Jungwon just sat there for a second, then laughed at how cute Jay was. He was staring at Jungwon like a lost puppy.

"How about one we both get all the statements and stuff done, you hand me a pen and I'll give it to you?"

"Sounds like a plan", Jay smiled as he led Jungwon through the bank to the front of the building, where there was a sea of cops and ambulances. Sirens are blaring everywhere.

Jungwon was escorted to an ambulance, where he was given a blanket and told to sit there for a second while they waited for a paramedic to come over.

"JUNGWON!"

He looked up and began sobbing whilst smiling. In the distance, he could see Sunoo and Ni-Ki running towards him. He also noticed Heeseung running behind them, not able to keep up with Sunoo.

Sunoo slammed into Jungwon, hugging the daylights out of him. Sunoo was sobbing all into the blanket, and Jungwon was trying not to ugly cry.

"You have no idea how worried I was when all I could hear was screaming through the phone. Are you okay? They didn't do anything to you, right? Please tell me they didn't do anything," Sunoo began panicking. At this point, he looked more stressed than Jungwon, and Jungwon was the actual hostage.

"I'm okay, Sunoo. Actually, it's thanks to Jay. He was in the bank with me. He kept me from panicking and rescued me" Jungwon couldn't stop smiling, just remembering all Jay did for him in the span of who knows how long they were in there for.

"Jay?? Wait!! That reminds me, when we were talking about the friend that wanted your number, it was-"

"Jay. Yeah, I know. We found out we both knew you and Ni-Ki and realised it pretty quickly. He is definitely getting that number," Jungwon laughed as he finished Sunoo's sentence, loving the look in his face as Sunoo's jaw dropped.

"Wait, it's actually gonna happen?? When he asked, I legit sent a video of myself laughing cause I was 99% sure you would reject the idea of it. OMG NI-KI JAYWON IS A GO!" Sunoo squeaked as he ran off, most likely to do something Jaywon-related. Ni-Ki looked over at Jungwon quickly, throwing a "Glad you're okay" before running after his over-energetic boyfriend.

He looked over at Heeseung, noticing him looking around nervously.

"Are you looking for Jay? He had to go make a statement, he'll be back any sec" Jungwon looked at Heeseung, smiling at the concern he had for his friend.

On cue, though, Jay came strolling over to Jungwon, pen and paper in hand.

"Heyy, gotcha paper AND a pen, got the whole set- Heesung! OMG!" He placed the paper and pen in Jungwon's hand before running over and hugging his bestie. Jungwon just smiled at the sight, noticing how cute their friendship is.

"Glad you're okay, buddy. I know it's your line of work and all that, but usually you're outside. Not the hostage inside. And when Sunoo was calling me, saying Jungwon was also inside, I started fearing the worst" Heeseung looked at his feet, worried.

Jay just hugged his friend, whispering, 'I'm okay' and 'all good'. Heeseung pushed away from the hug and smiled, seeing how happy Jungwon was.

"Go get him, lover boy. I should probably find Sunoo before he breaks something" Heeseung laughs and walks off, leaving the two together.

Jay slides over and sits next to Jungwon, fixing his blanket. He looks down and sees the paper already filled with a set of numbers, followed by a heart. He just looked at Jungwon and smiled.

"I'll make sure to message you as soon as I get my phone back"

"Same" Jungwon laughed as they looked at the bank, wondering. He the hell did a bank and a robbery bring these 2 individuals together. Only fate knows.
