Chapter Text
Luke Skywalker woke up to a white nothing. He looked around but saw nothing but white. At first he thought he was alone when suddenly he heard a voice behind him.
He turned around to see a tall person standing behind him. He was about 2.5 meters tall, had long grey hair, grey skin and scarily blue eyes.
“Welcome”, he greeted with a booming voice. He seemed to be friendly or at least not intent on hurting Luke. But over time Luke has learned that first appearances can be deceiving.
Luke decided to stay on edge. He watched the man carefully and waited for him to continue. “I am The Father, I am here because I have a mission for you and your sister”
“The father?” “I am an ancient being of the force. For millennials I watched over its balance. After my death your father was supposed to follow in my footsteps” “But he didn’t”, Luke interrupted stating the obvious.
“No, and this is why you are here.” “What, you want ME to do this instead?!” “No, you are not fit for a task like this. I know now that neither was your father. At least not the way I expected him to.”
Luke gave him a questioning look. “What do you mean?” “I lived on a special planet outside of your galaxy, watching over my children who are the personifications of what you call light- and darkside of the Force. I wanted your father to stay there with them in my place. But he was too attached to your galaxy to stay.”
“Well what do I have to do with all of this, you say you don’t want me to stay here or there or whatever. And that my father wasn’t supposed to either. So what do you want?”
“I want you to stop your father from falling to the darkside, from becoming a sith”, The Father explained. “No offense, but don’t you think it’s a little late for that?”
“Where you are from, yes. But not from where I will send you.” “Where you will send me?” “Or more exactly when.”
“Wait, you want to send me into the past?! How is that even possible? What if I change something and suddenly I don’t exist anymore.”
“Don’t worry. This will not be possible. For one, you can’t change your own reality, merely create a second one. And second I can’t send you into a reality where you don’t yet exist.”
“But my father falls before I get born”, Luke argued. “Born yes, exist no. Your presence in the force exists before you get born. Before you take your first breath. This presence is enough. But like you said it won’t be long before your father’s fall. You will need to hurry.”
“But -”, there was still so much he didn’t know. Where was he going to go? When was he going to end up? How did his father even fall, how can he stop it. How much to reveal. Who to trust.
But he didn’t get the chance to ask any of that. Because before he could even begin to form a question everything started to disappear.
“Once you accomplish your mission, you will return to your time”, was the last thing he heard before he woke up again.
This time he was in a room, no a ship. What kind of ship it was he couldn’t immediately make out. He looked around some more, definitely old. Not a combat ship, a civilian one, could be Corellian.
“Luke”, he suddenly heard his sister ask, “what happened? Where are we?”
“I’m not sure, but I think the better question is, when are we”, Luke replied, still not sure about his encounter with The Father.
“What the kriff are you talking about?”, Leia asked, clearly and understandably confused by what was going on.
“Ok, I know this is going to sound crazy, but I think some kind of Force god -” “FORCE GOD?!” “I’m not sure. Someone very powerful in the Force, maybe a god. He wasn’t all that specific. Anyways, he told me he would send us back in time to save our father from the dark side.”
“This just keeps getting more ridiculous”, Leia replied dryly. Clearly not believing in the possibility of saving their father.
“I don’t suppose he told you when exactly he was going to send us?”, Leia asked. “He told me he could only send us somewhen where we already exist. Or at least our force presences. So at best, about 9 month before everything went to shit.”
“But he is sure our father hasn’t fallen by that?” Luke shot her an angry look. “What I’m just asking. Don’t wanna waste my time for that monster”, she muttered.
“He’s not a monster yet. He’s still a good person.” “Not being a sith lord doesn’t make him a good person. There are a bunch of people who do awful stuff without being a sith lord.”
“Why do you always have to assume the worst when it comes to him?” “Because that’s usually right.” Luke looked down at the floor. This was going to be a lot harder than he thought.
“I thought you see him differently after finding grandmother’s diaries. That you are able to accept him.”
“I don’t wanna throw up everytime I think about him anymore. I guess that counts as improvement. Maybe he wasn’t always a monster, at some point he may have been a good person. But I don’t think he is that person anymore. Not this close to turning into this monster. I accept that he is my biological father, because I have to and I don’t want my fear of him to control my life, but I will never like him. He helped create my, gave me half of my DNA, but that is it.”
Yep, definitely not gonna be easy. Why does stuff like this always happen to me, Luke thought bitterly.
Just when he was about to reply, an alarm somewhere in the cockpit went off.
