Under the broad vibrant leaves of a bird's nest fern, on the rough barked branch of a tall tree, high off the ground sat two pixies.
One was thin like a string bean, sporting fire red hair that cascaded down his bare back stopping just before his opalescent dragonfly wings. He gazed with buttercup yellow eyes at the other pixie while their face was hidden in the light purple iris flower that Crowley had brought him. Aziraphale was rounder, with short curly almost white hair, and blue eyes that sparkled with joy, his wings, like a butterfly's, were a softer shade of blue with golden trim. They fluttered gently with excitement as he sniffed into the centre of the flower, making Crowley's heart flutter with it, especially when he made those little noises of approval.
"Mmm! Oh, Crowley, this is simply beautiful, and the smell, the pollen, it's divine!"
"Not as much as you," Crowley uttered under his breath.
"What's that, dear?" Aziraphale inquired, finally pulling his head from the flower, licking his lips, a dusting of yellow pollen on the tip of his nose.
"Uh, knew you'd like it," Crowley quickly answered, tongue subconsciously flicking out, eyes fixed on that adorable nose.
"I truly do,” Aziraphale sighed happily, expression soft, “where do you find these fascinating flowers all the time, Crowley?"
"If I told you, then I couldn't keep surprising you, could I?" Crowley pointed out with a little smirk, always chuffed by the reactions he received from gifting things to the other pixie.
"I suppose not, and I do enjoy your surprises."
"We could plant some of the seeds and grow some irises nearby..." Crowley suggested, seeing how taken Aziraphale was by the flower.
"Really? How would we do that?" he inquired with curious excitement.
"It's easy,” Crowley waved a hand lazily, “have you never grown plants before?"
Aziraphale fussed with the purple petals as he quietly confessed, "N-no…it's, uh, not really in my skill set I'm afraid."
"No worries, I'll show you! Follow me, bring the flower..." Crowley told him, stepping off the branch and free falling for half a second before setting his wings into motion.
Glancing over his shoulder to make sure that Aziraphale was following him, Crowley led him through the thicket toward the river, eventually settling on the ground near a willow tree close to the riverbank. Looking around as Aziraphale landed next to him, Crowley found an ideal twig and a sharp pebble.
"Right," Crowley started as he knelt, ensuring that the other pixie was watching, and started to make little holes in the earth with the twig, "first you make some shallow holes, and then we get the seeds..."
Seeds?" Aziraphale inquired, still clutching the flower stem.
"From the seed pod," Crowley announced, pointing at the little green pod hanging from the stem.
"Oh."
Crowley held out his hand and Aziraphale passed him the flower, where upon Crowley used the sharp pebble to cut the pod open, exposing the little seeds inside. Carefully he plucked out the seeds and handed a few to Aziraphale.
“Here, put one in each hole, cover it with the dirt, and then get some water from the river to put over them,” Crowley instructed.
While Aziraphale planted seeds, Crowley did too, glancing at the other pixie periodically. When they were both finished, Crowley then demonstrated how to use a little pixie magic to encourage the plant to grow. Making sure he had Aziraphale’s attention, he put his hands over the wet earth, and felt the ancient earth magic course through him, and he directed it into the little seed in the ground, willing it to grow.
“Oh!” Aziraphale gasped when some pointed green leaves poked up through the dirt, growing into a young plant before their eyes.
Inspired, Aziraphale put his own hands over the ground in front of him and closed his eyes, Crowley watched and waited but nothing happened.
“Bother.”
Unable to stand the pout on Aziraphale’s face, Crowley knelt next to him grasping his hands, putting all four over the planted seed.
“Feel the magic, see the seed in your mind, and focus on putting the two together,” Crowley said softly, “ask it to grow.”
Moments later greenery was sprouting between their fingers, and Aziraphale wiggled excitedly next to Crowley, turning to face him with gleeful exclamations, “I did it!”
“You did, good job!” Crowley grinned, caught by shining blue eyes, making his heart and wings flutter.
Their hands still joined, Aziraphale used them to keep Crowley close as he slowly leant in and pressed a soft, bashful kiss to his lips.
“Thank you, Crowley.”
Blushing profusely, Crowley managed to quietly mumble out, “Yo-your welcome,” before Aziraphale was letting go of his hands and turning back to the earth to try again.
