Work Text:
“Oi, Dresden, what exactly has happened to you? You’ve been gone for days and the only communication we had from you was ‘I have been captured by this universe’s variant of the SCP Foundation, but I am safe. It will likely be a while before I can come back. Do not worry about me in the meantime.’ Did you just like, not expect us to worry or have follow-up questions? And why do you look like you’ve has just seen a ghost?” Dr. Champagne asked an abnormally weary Dresden.
Dresden looked at Champagne and pulled a small packet of paper from his jacket. “I would like you to not get so worried about me. I can keep myself safe, especially in a place like the SCP Foundation. If you would like to know where I was, I was able to access my file if you would like to read it. However, I would like to get some rest before speaking about this any further. Goodbye.” Dresden said, handing Champagne three printed papers stapled together in the corner before walking to his room.

Item #: SCP-8490
Object Class: Archon
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-8490 is to remain outside of this dimension unless it is called on by a member of the O5 council, through the use of SCP-8492, for aid in neutralizing/decommissioning an entity.
SCP-8490 has agreed to this under the condition that the SCP foundation delivers the following food products each week to the ‘nexus point’ of this Earth, Site 23:
3 loaves of cut wheat bread
2 packets of deli ham
2 packets of each of the following sandwich cheeses: cheddar, munster, gouda, blue, and swiss.
2 heads of lettuce
10 [non anomalous] tomatoes
5 onions
1 jar of pickles
Description:
SCP-8490 is a sentient and sapient being which takes the form of a stone-covered humanoid entity standing at roughly 1.83 metres with one yellow eye and one purple eye with purple scarring next to it. Its hair is purple at its base and grey at the tips, implying purple is its natural hair color and it dyes its hair gray. Its skin is rocky with visible cracks and crevices. The skin of its arm, and theoretically the rest of its body can split off, revealing a pink light that separates the rocks from its arm.
SCP-8490, alongside SCP-8491, SCP-8492, and SCP-8493 were discovered in a Chinese market. Reports of eyewitnesses claim he simply appeared out of a portal. He was soon taken into the SCP Foundations’ custody and any witnesses have been dosed with class-A amnestics.
SCP-8490 was understanding towards the reasoning behind the foundations’ confiscation protocols, but remained unwilling to give the foundation an SCP that was later classified to be SCP-8493, stating the following; “I would advise against removing that. It is there to suppress my remaining abilities, as well as being there for communication between myself and my allies and to track me.” We decided to allow SCP-8490 to keep the item as long as it would explain its properties and not use it to harm the SCP foundation’s staff. It agreed under the condition that we had no connections to beings known as “Tarsa” or “Ludum.” We are unsure as to who those beings are, but we may need to be prepared for them if they come, as the mention of them seems to put SCP-8490 on edge.

----------------------------------------------
SCP-8490: Good afternoon.
Dr. Gears: Good afternoon SCP-8490. We have a few questions to ask you about yourself, your motives, and the objects we’ve confiscated from you.
SCP-8490: I will be willing to answer these questions as long as you do not ask anything that my enemies do not already know.
Dr. Gears: Understandable. Our first question is to what your motives are and where you are from.
SCP-8490: I am from a team of multiverse-traversing beings of varying anomalous abilities, mine of which are able to be restricted through this device. [SCP-8490 points to SCP-8493] Today I was tasked with procuring the goods we need, but cannot get in the universe which contains our main base.
As for my decision as to where I would procure said goods, I would have simply gone to somewhere like what is referred to as ‘New York City’ in most universes, due to its extreme acceptance of anything, meaning I would be much less likely to, well, end up in a situation like this. However, the increasing prices of food in the Americas of somehow more than half of the universes that contain them have increased to the point it is no longer logical to purchase goods in such areas. Therefore, I decided to purchase my goods in a different country with much cheaper prices, willing to take the risk of being noticed by a variant of the SCP Foundation.
Dr. Gears: Based on this and the fact you have a level 4 security clearance card for our SCP-Foundation, I can assume you’ve worked in an alternate version of the SCP Foundation?
SCP-8490: Correct.
Dr. Gears: Is this how you gained your anomalous abilities and items.
SCP-8490: No. I did not gain my anomalous abilities until my original universes’ SCP Foundation had been overwhelmed by anomalies with resemblances to videogames and television shows from other worlds. And I gained everything which was confiscated from me, besides the security clearance card, in the past 30 years
Dr. Gears: Interesting. Now may I ask about the knife.
SCP-8490: Yes. The reaper knife I created with a former ally of mine. I won’t get into the details here but it can kill anything. Including SCP-682 based on an attempt made on a different universes’ version of it.
Dr. Gears: I’m going to notify the higher-ups about that so we can test it against 682.
SCP-8490: Please do, but I would like it back once you are all finished using it. I would also advise caution, as 682 will attempt to adapt to it before it dies, so it will become stronger before it’s killed.
Dr. Gears: Noted. Now what’s with the pokemon?
SCP-8490: (whispers) Of course this dimension also has that franchise.
That is Val
Dr. Gears: Oh, as in, Silvally?
SCP-8490:
Dr. Gears:
SCP-8490: I hope the multiverse is very amused by itself.
That ‘pokemon’ is an entity which I found in a universe different from my original or home universe only a few months ago. It was created by a scientist who attempted to help us complete a mission we were on. He died on that mission and I decided to take in Val, as he would not have had anywhere else to go otherwise.
Val is very physically strong and can have different anomalous abilities depending on-
Dr. Gears: Depending on what you sort of program it to do, likely using some kind of disc to cycle it between less than 19 different skill sets?
SCP-8490: …Yes.
Dr. Gears: Well, moving on from that. What is that wristwatch you’re wearing? You’ve said before that it is used to contain your own abilities. Why did you ask to keep it?
SCP-8490: Yes. This is a 'Multiverse Jumping Wrist Watch Thingy’ as named by one of my allies, shortened to ‘MMJWWT’ [muj wuh wat], though I rarely call it that. It allows us to communicate with one another, transport ourselves between universes, and, in my case, inhibit the anomalous abilities of allies they don’t fully trust. Which in my case is completely fair based on what I’ve done in the past. Including what I’ve done to some of my current allies.
Dr. Gears: So you feel guilty towards them, that’s why you wanted to keep it on.
SCP-8490: I suppose that is correct, alongside me not wanting to break their likely already strained trust in me.
Dr. Gears: Understandable. Now, you said you are able to leave this universe and go back home. Why aren’t you already doing that?
SCP-8490: For one, I would like to return with everything I came with, as well as with what I came here for, which was simply to purchase groceries for my team.
Dr. Gears: I’ll have to talk to the higher-ups about this, but we would like to keep anomalies out of the public eye.
SCP-8490: I am aware of this.
Dr. Gears: If we give you your things back, and give you food, will you promise not to come back?
SCP-8490: I would happily agree to this idea.
Dr. Gears: I’ll send a message to the higher-ups and have the guards escort you back to your cell. You’ll hear back from us as soon as possible but until then you’ll have to stay here.
SCP-8490: Understandable. [SCP-8490 gets up from its chair] It was nice to see you again, Dr. Gears. Goodbye.

Once Dr. Champagne finished reading he said aloud “So, hes is saying that he got caught by the SCP-Foundation of another universe and then convinced them to not only let him out, but also deliver groceries to us? Absolute madlad.”
