Kate Whistler and Lucy Tara have been back together for 3 years.
Hard to believe that was already 3 years ago. A lot has happened in the last 3 years. Lucy isn't a Junior Agent anymore. Right after she returned from her Agent Afloat she got promoted. So, career wise was it a good idea to take this position.
But she definitely wouldn’t do it again. Because being separated from Kate for 4 months was far too long.
1 year after they got back together they got engaged. Funnily enough, they both had the same idea at the same time. That means they did the marriage proposal at the same time.
They moved in together shortly after they got engaged. It was the only sensible solution for them to move in together, so Lucy moved in with Kate.
Now they have been married to each other for almost 5 months.
What no one on her team knows is that Kate is pregnant. The married couple wants to wait a little longer before they tell the others about their exciting news. They want to wait until Kate is through the first trimester before telling anyone.
Lucy and Kate didn't even tell the others that they were trying to get pregnant.
They want to keep it to themselves in case it didn't work. But it worked right on the first try.
They were over the moon as they saw the positive pregnancy test and they celebrated the amazing news the entire night. Both of them are sure that their neighbors hates them, definitely after that night because neither of them are really silent during sex. They are pretty loud, so loud everyone in the building can hear them.
Now Kate and Lucy are on the way together with Kai. The three Agents want to arrest a suspect. Her name is Miranda Rodriguez. The agents have evidence that she killed her husband, Petty Officer Thomas Rodriguez and they want to bring her to Pearl to question her and see what she has to say about that.
The former DIA Officer parks the car in front of the building and turns off the engine. They climb out of the car and they walk over to the front door.
Kai knocks on the door but nobody opens the door. The three Agents look at each other. Should they kick in the door? But is this really a good idea. What if the woman isn't home at all? Then they would have kick in the door for nothing.
"How about we walk around the house into the garden? Maybe the back door is open", suggest the blonde FBI Agent.
Then they can still kick in the door if it’s really necessary but maybe the back door is open. So, they make their way around the house and see that the back door is in fact open.
They get out their guns before they enter the house.
The three Agents split up, which is probably not such a good idea as it turns out. Lucy goes upstairs to the second etage, Kai goes down to the basement and Kate looks around the kitchen and the living room.
Suddenly Kate gets attacked from behind. It happens too fast for Whistler to fight back. The FBI Agent was surprised by this woman. She didn't expect someone to come from behind and attack her at all. She fought back and protected her stomach as best she could. But the other woman was too strong for her.
Whistler falls to the floor and groans. The woman actually wasn't finished with Kate and wants to continue hitting her but then she hears a noise and runs away.
Kate remains injured on the floor when Lucy finds her injured wife.
"Oh my god, Kate", says the NCIS Agent as soon as she sees her injured wife lying on the floor.
She puts her left hand on Kate's cheek and strokes the soft skin with her thumb.
Lucy has a weird feeling of déjà vu. She has a feeling that something like that has happened before. It's because it did happened. But in addition, Kate is pregnant. But luckily, nothing happen to the baby.
She gets her phone out with her free hand and calls immediately an aid car for her wife.
Holman joins them and is shocked to see Whistler hurt. He didn't expect something like that to happen.
While Lucy takes care of Whistler, Kai search the house to make sure nobody is here anymore who could surprise them again like that.
"Do you think you can get up?" asks the NCIS Agent her wife worried.
"Yes, I think so", answers Kate and makes a face when she gets up with the help of her wife.
The married couple goes out of the house.
Luckily, the aid car doesn’t need long until it arrives. The two paramedics jump out of the aid car and immediately start to treat the injured FBI Agent, who takes a seat the back of the aid car.
Then Lucy remembers something. The tiny woman turns her head to Kai, who stands next to her.
"Please, cover your ears and turn around for a moment", demands Lucy and Kai just looks at her confused and doesn't do what she told him. Because he doesn't understand why she told him that. What is the reason?
"Why?" asks Holman confused.
Lucy rolls with her eyes when she sees the confused look from him. What about her sentence did he not understand?
"Just do it, Kai", says she firmly.
Tara knows that Kai doesn’t keep a secret for long. He had caught the two of them having sex on the beach a few months ago. Barely 24 hours later the others knew it too because of Kai's big mouth and Kate and Lucy were teased by everyone about it.
If you have a secret and you want to keep it a secret, at least for now in this case, never tell Kai Holman.
After he realizes that Lucy is serious about it he rolls with his eyes, put his fingers in his ears and turns around.
After Lucy makes sure that Kai isn't listening to them, she turns to the paramedics.
"My wife is pregnant. In the 11th week", informs the Texan the paramedics in a quiet voice because you can never know.
Maybe Kai is still listening or someone else. But she has to inform the paramedics because she knows it’s very important that they know about it, so they can treat her correctly.
The paramedics takes note of this and it's good that Lucy told them about it because it’s very important that they know about something like that.
They will take Kate to the Tripler hospital to get her check out by the doctors.
"Call me immediately when something happens", says the NCIS Agent and gives her wife a light kiss on the cheek.
Lucy would like to go with her wife to the hospital but she wants to go after this stupid bimbo who dared to hurt her wife like that and make her pay for it.
"I will and after I'm finished in the hospital I come to the bullpen", says Whistler.
Lucy nods with her head and gives her wife another kiss but this time on the lips.
They put Kate on the stretcher and drive off to the Tripler hospital.
The Texan is going to track down this woman. She is going to make her pay for what she did to her wife.
Kai and Lucy find her relatively quickly because she was still near her house.
As soon as she sees the NCIS Agents she runs away but Lucy won't let her escape under any circumstances and runs after her.
When the Texan finally reaches her she brings her down and starts fighting her.
The two fight in the sand. Lucy punches Miranda a few times hard in the face. So hard that Lucy feels like she has broken her a bone in the face. But she simply doesn't care about it. She fights with the woman who dared to hurt Kate, her pregnant wife. She is red with anger. This is the Andrea Medina case all over again.
Miranda pushes Lucy off her. This woman tries to escape through the water, as if she knows that the NCIS Agent has aquaphobia.
But there is no way in hell that Lucy is letting the woman leave. She chases after Miranda. She doesn't care about her aquaphobia at this moment. And that she has to get her no matter what.
Lucy jumps on Miranda’s back and they both fall into the water. Both are wet to the bone.
Kai pulls Lucy off the woman and pushes her away.
Fortunately for Miranda, Lucy walks away from her and not attack her again. She would have definitely deserved it for what she did to Kate.
"This bitch is crazy. She almost killed me", says Miranda hysterically as Kai helps her up.
Lucy just glares at Miranda after she hears that she called her crazy. She doesn't like it at all that this stupid bimbo calls her crazy just because she is protective. But she decides to do nothing about it, instead she continutes walking towards the car.
"That was pretty dangerous and stupid what you did. You can call yourself lucky that you are not dead", says Kai to the other woman as he leads her away in handcuffs.
He knows that you should never make Lucy Tara-Whistler angry because it could be that you won't see the next day after she is finished with you. She is pretty protective of her wife.
"I have no idea why the hell this crazy woman attacked me like that", grumbles the criminal and grimaces because her face hurts pretty much.
Lucy broke the woman’s nose and cheekbone. She is completely confused why this NCIS Agent attacked her like that. What did she do to her? Well, except being a wanted criminal. But this feels somehow personal.
"You attacked her wife and injured her, which was a pretty big mistake as you can feel now", explains the NCIS Agent with a smirk.
The woman is pretty lucky that Lucy didn't kill her. Kai honestly first thought that Lucy would kill this woman just like she killed Andrea Medina after she injured Kate. Well, in that case there was a gun involved and Lucy tried to take it away from her and pressed the trigger and shot her in the chest and killed her on the spot.
Miranda just rolls with her eyes but doesn’t say anything more when Kai puts her on the back seat of the car.
Lucy drives while Kai sits in the back with Miranda. It's better when Lucy doesn’t sit in the back with the woman. Who knows what will happen during the drive back to Pearl. The Texan could throw the uncuffed woman out of the moving car. To be honest, Kai would trust Lucy to do that and he can't risk that. They still need Miranda to question her if she really killed her husband.
Arriving at Pearl, Lucy parks the car and turns off the engine. She climbs out of the car and lets Kai deal with the criminal.
The Texan doesn’t care about this stupid bimbo, she only cares about her pregnant wife and needs to see her.
She makes her way into the building and walks straight to the elevator, which luckily just arrived and enters it. She pushes the button for the right floor and waits. Sometimes she feels like the elevator ride takes forever.
Kate waits on her wife’s desk in the bullpen. She has a bruised rip, a dislocated shoulder and a mild concussion. She has to wear a sling because of her shoulder. The doctors set back her shoulder in the Emergency Room.
The former DIA Officer looks up when she hears someone entering the bullpen.
"Why are you looking like a wet dog?" asks Kate confused as her wife enters the bullpen and walks towards her. It looks like her wife was taking a shower with her clothes on.
"The woman, who hurt you, tried to escape through the water and I followed her", explains Lucy and shrugs with her shoulders.
The former DIA Officer is taken aback by this that her wife, who has aquaphobia followed the criminal into the ocean, even though she is scared of it.
But her heart smiles because Lucy is so protective of her that she goes voluntarily into the ocean to catch the woman who hurt her. Lucy is even more protective now that her wife is pregnant.
She closes the distance between them.
"I can't lose you. Neither of you", says the NCIS Agent and puts a hand on her wife’s stomach. Lucy had the fear that something happened to her unborn baby.
"And you won't, Luce. You won't because I'm fine. The baby is fine. We are fine", assures Kate her wife and puts her hand over Lucy's. She leans down and rests her forehead against Lucy's.
They stay like this for a while before Lucy pulls away from Kate.
"I'll just go and dry myself off and change my clothes", says the black-haired woman and takes a step back from her pregnant and injured wife.
"I will wait here for you", says the pregnant woman and Lucy nods before she disappears to change her clothes.
Kate decides while she waits to take a seat on Lucy's chair because she can no longer stand.
When Lucy returns to the bullpen she is wearing a jacket from Kate. The jacket is light blue with a white zipper. It's even the same jacket Kate wore when she waited for Lucy in the bullpen after Andrea Medina used her as a punching bag.
But this time Lucy will be there for Kate and take care of her and not go on a date with another woman, like she did 3 years ago.
The date with Skylar was just stupid and a mistake because Lucy could only think of Kate the whole time and had finished it earlier. She regret it the whole time while she was with Skylar. She first thought that she should drive to Kate's apartment to check on her. But she decided against it. She felt pretty guilty that she just left her in the bullpen while she was injured like that and couldn't face her. Besides, she was still pretty mad at Kate for going into a house without any backup and for not saying a single word about her promotion in D.C. She just couldn't face Whistler that night anymore.
Lucy confessed it to Kate that she went on a date with another woman while she was injured like that. The former DIA Officer was hurt by it. She knew that Lucy saw someone new. But to hear it from her was different. And top of that, Lucy seriously went on a freaking date while was used as a punching bag. She never thought that the Texan would do something like that. Whistler could never do that, to know someone she cares about is hurt and injured and then go on a date with another woman.
When Kate sees that her wife is coming back she stands up.
The NCIS Agent walks over to her wife and smiles sadly at her as she sees the injuries. Kate takes her wife in her arms.
"We're fine, Lucy", whispers the blonde woman in Lucy's ear.
The tiny woman lets out a sigh while she closes her eyes and cuddles deeper into her wife’s arms.
Jane Tennant and Ernie Malik join the married couple. They break their hug when Kate sees Ernie and Jane coming toward them.
"I heard you broke her the nose and cheekbone", says the Special Agent in Charge and raises her eyebrow.
She was only a little surprised to hear from Kai what Lucy did to the criminal. The key words are 'a little' because she isn't surprised at all.
"She is lucky that it’s only that", grumbles the Texan and crosses her arms over her chest.
Lucy just saw red and reacted. No one hurts her wife, literally no one, and gets away with it. If something had happened to the unborn baby, Lucy would have attacked this woman a second time. But this time could it be that she kills her.
Kate smiles a little and gives her wife a kiss on the temple.
Jane has a feeling that Kate could be pregnant and that’s why Lucy is protective like that. Well, her Special Agent is always protective when someone dared to hurt Kate.
But she doesn’t say anything that she thinks that her best friend might be pregnant. She knows that the married couple will tell them when they are ready.
"Remind me to never make your wife angry", says Ernie to the FBI Agent and gulps.
He doesn’t want to admit it but he is pretty scared of his best friend. The Cyber Specialist knows how Lucy can get if someone hurt or say something wrong to her wife. But Whistler is no different than her. She is also pretty protective of her wife.
"Come on, let's go home", says Lucy and puts her hand on Kate uninjured arm.
Jane already told her she can go home and look after Kate and take care of her. Of course, she had not objected. She is thankful that her boss gives her the rest of the day off and probably tomorrow as well.
"This is a good idea, Luce", replies the taller woman and gives her wife a kiss on the forehead.
They say their goodbyes to their two friends.
Kate and Lucy leave the bullpen and walk over to the elevator. The latter pushes the button and they don’t need long until it arrives. They enter the elevator and Kate pushes the button for the parking lot. The married couple spends the elevator ride in a comfortable silence.
The elevator arrives and they walk over to their car and Lucy opens the passenger door for her wife. Whistler gives her wife a smile before she climbs into the car. Lucy shuts the door and walks around the car and climbs into the driver seat. She buckles up and looks over to her wife and sees that she has problems because of her arm sling. Without saying anything, she leans over and helps Kate.
When both are buckled up, Lucy starts the car and the finally drive home.
Arriving at their apartment building, Lucy parks the car in her parking spot and turns off the engine.
Lucy unlocks their apartment door and the married couple enters. After they are both inside, the Texan closes the door behind them.
"Your poor hands", says the taller woman softly and gently takes Lucy's hands in her uninjured one to take a closer look at them. Lucy's knuckles are blue and the skin has even cracked in some places. You could almost think that she hit a wall with full force, several times.
Whistler quickly goes into the kitchen and gets out a ice pack from the freezer. She returns to her wife and puts the ice pack on Lucy's hands.
"I should take care of you because you are more injured than me", says Lucy as she watches how her wife carefully puts the ice pack on her bruised knuckles.
"It goes both ways, my love", reminds Kate with a small smile.
"I love you", says the Texan and smiles back.
"I love you too", replies Whistler and leans down to kiss Lucy's forehead.
They walk into the living room and sit down on the couch.
"I'm so glad that nothing happen to our baby", says Lucy and puts a hand on Kate's stomach.
"Me too."
Lucy leans down and kisses Kate's stomach.
"I love you so much, peanut", whispers she to their unborn baby. She looks up to meet her wife’s eyes. "You will only do desk duty for the next few months until our baby is born", says the NCIS Agent firmly and she is serious about it.
Kate knows that her wife is dead serious about it and she can understand it.
She would have said the same thing if Lucy was the one who is pregnant with their baby.
