Chapter Text
a loud slam resonated through the bar as a glass of beer is brought down upon a table, it's contents swishing about like waves amidst a storm. "hey careful with that!" Gilles hisses, throwing a venomous glare at the slumping demon who had broken the otherwise calm atmosphere of the building. "If you're not going to do anything but sulk and make a mess you should leave" he huffed, topping up his glass nonchalantly despite the indignant glare Dantalion levelled him with in response to his reprimand; wordlessly gulping down burning liquid before once again slamming the glass on the table out of spite. He smirked up at Gilles, daring him to say or do something, instead Gilles simply placed the bottle he was pouring from on the table before walking off in a huff, not in the mood to deal with dukes antics.
Dantalion smirked in triumph, grabbing the bottle and pouring himself another glass, ignoring the judgemental look Camio was sending him. "you know," The green haired demon started, taking a sip from his own glass, "if you just wanted to drink and pick fights you could have done it on your own, you didn't need to invite me to come along" he remarked idly, taking in the ambience of the dimly lit bar. Dantalion lets out a frustrated groan, "it's not that I juts..." he grits his teeth, running a had down his ever reddening face. "I needed to ask your advice on something" he mumbled, his expression twisting into an embarrassed grimace, not helped by the apparent shock painted on his companions face in response to his confession. "I'm sorry?" Camio asks incredulously, eliciting another groan from the former "Don't make me repeat it" he said through gritted teeth, his face close to becoming one with his palm.
Camio chuckled at his clear embarrassment, "alright sorry I was just surprised is all" he stated, patting the sulking demon on the back placatingly. "what did you need advice on?" he asked, Dantalion's statement finally registering in his mind, piquing his curiosity. The latter glared weakly at him before his glaze turned sheepish and his glass seemed to become the most interesting thing the world to him. "It's about William" he murmured, his voice so hushed Camio had just barely heard him. He rolled his eyes in almost fond exasperation, he should've known really, most issues with Dantalion involve William some way. "And what about William is troubling you so much you allowed yourself to be reduced to such a state?" He questioned teasingly, he'll have to tell john and Maria about this when he gets back home, they'll want to know everything. With a deep sigh, Dantalion chugged another glass before turning to face Camio directly, a determined fire behind his eyes. "How did you propose to Maria?" he asked, his voiced laced with such seriousness Camio thought he was pretending to be drunk earlier. "I'm sorry?" He repeated, stunned for the second time that night by one of the Dukes questions. Dantalion slammed his head onto the table with a resounding thud at the prince's shocked expression, all the courage he had worked up for this conversation leaving him in one fell swoop. "I want to ask William to marry me but I don't know how to do it so I Figured since you and Maria are so happy together you would know the best way to do it" he rambled abashedly, refusing to raise his head from the table to meet the look of shock that still adorned Camio's face.
As Dantalion's words finally sunk in, Camio let out a bark of laughter, nearly falling of his stool. this caused the mortified demon to finally lift his head to glare at his companion, who had covered his mouth in a failing attempt to appear more dignified. "Don't laugh this is serious!" he yelled, harshly shoving Camio who had managed to calm himself down to the occasional chuckle. Taking once final deep breath to fully compose himself, he turned to Dantalion with an apologetic smile, "sorry, I didn't mean to laugh, I was just caught off guard" he stated before putting a reassuring hand on his shoulder, "you know how much William appreciates honesty so just be yourself, and let him know how you truly feel" he advised, taking a sip of his drink. "oh and a nice ring helps too" he joked, causing The black haired demon to chuckle, pouring another glass for himself and taking a sip. "alright that sounds easy enough" he admitted, glancing at Camio, "thanks" he said. Camio didn't reply and the two drank in comfortable silence for the rest of the night. Camio was definitely telling John and Maria about this when he got back.
