Healing of Hearts

Summary:

He had it all.

He was a prominent cheerleader and one of his school's best dancers, an amazing boyfriend, a loving family, and a promising college career. Then, it all came crashing down. After an injury leaves him broken in more than just bones, he struggles to pick up the pieces scattered about. How will he ever be happy again? Can he reclaim his passion and confidence? And, what about a new alpha that can be better than his ex?

He was a very well known music producer, and rapper on the side. He was also, in university. Needing a bit more of a degree to make it into the big leagues. He had a pack already. Friends he'd known most of his life. With only a few coming in out of the blue because of love and passion. Not just for the art of music in some fashion. But, he was lonely. Taking a small step out of the limelight he was in, he decided it was best he try and find the happiness that has always eluded him.

Will our two broken hearts and souls find one another, and heal together?

Chapter 1: The Accident

Chapter Text

His eyes were firmly closed, his breath shallow and deep.

His attempt to calm his racing heart. To focus, and do his best. As usual. He waited. The anticipation in him mounting to an almost unbearable degree. His wolf half wiggling in excitable energy. Ready to unleash its dance. Around him were others in a similar fashion. Their scents neutralized by the scent nullifiers the school used to keep them all calm and content. His uniform soft on his delicate and easily irritable skin. The whites and deep navy blues familiar. The color of his school and its many athletic teams.

One of which, he was on.

It was a curious mix of dance, and cheerleading. If one truly thought about it, they were in a sense the same. Just one put more emphasis in their bodies, than the other. And since he did both throughout his high school career, he excelled well in both. With a final calming breath, he let his purple tinged blue eyes snap open. A fierce look of focused determination, and will to dominate and win took his cute face. Replacing the soft and gentle innocent expression of the omega. And replacing it with the warrioress hidden deep within. His omega muscles bunched, twitching. Ready to pounce. To catch his prey. To tear it to shreds. He tried not to growl. But he was darned close to unleashing a roar to rival any alpha's. Around him were others of various coat colors. Ranging from red hues, to deep rich dark chocolate browns. He could only pick a few other blonds in his pseudo-pack.

He listened as the music started up.

It was a very rhythmic almost electronic start. Like an odd thrumming heartbeat. He let most of his thoughts go, and let his muscle memory come into focus. Letting the music move him. Making him its slave. Pulling him on strings he could never see. Nor want freedom from. They only emerged, around music. The hard laminated wood floor of the gym familiar. Squeaking a little beneath the flats of their sneakers. It was almost irritating. He grit his fangs, trying not to get angered by it. They seemed to move as one piece. No mistakes. They'd practiced this so hard for weeks.

As the day for the last homecoming game rally drew closer, they had practiced more and more for it. Often going over it repeatedly. Their coach a hard beta, wanting them to do their best. After all, seniors like him had scholarships riding on their performances going well. And he certainly had a plethora of very prominent universities and colleges in Australia, vying for his attendance. Given his high grades, and his clear flexible athletic prowess. This was their final showcase. Made mostly for the rest of the student body. A final celebration. Anything to get them hyped up for the big game.

The faces of the other students went by in a blurring whirl.

No one stood out to him.

They only stopped long enough, to quickly change their routine in time with the music. He wasn't too much of a fan of mashups. But, it wasn't his call to make. Nor was it really the captain's call. It was the coach's. But he wasn't sure he'd have wanted the captain to make the final call, regardless. She had something against him. He was uncertain what. She had always looked down at him since he first started his high school career. He did not have a single clue what it was that had her so against him. He often wondered if she let him on the team, just so she could make his life more difficult.

Then again, he did know she was friends with his sisters.

He wondered about the correlation there.

//

The music came to a somewhat abrupt, yet faded end.

He and the others were breathing deep and heavy. Working to calm their rabbiting hearts, and to catch what breath eluded them. Grins making their cheeks hurt, ensuring to keep a smile. At least the students had enjoy it. Given the applause. After taking a moment to refocus his gaze from the slight dizziness associated with their dance/cheer routine, he let them find him.

Brad.

His absolutely gorgeous and handsome alpha boyfriend. They'd been dating since his sophomore year. He had become very shy around the muscular alpha. He had always had a bit of an Achilles heel weakness for large, meaty, muscular alphas. And Brad was more than that. While true he was the school's star player, he was also a lifeguard on the side. Talk about a serious wet dream for any omega. And, he was beach blond. He was certainly a heartthrob. Though, it was almost pathetic. The panting wagging tongues of females as Brad would walk past them. Even though he'd made it clear he and Brad were dating. Could they not drool over the poor guy?

He was more than his looks.

Though yes, they were killer.

As their gazes met, he could see Brad's smile grow and become tender. Orange tinged red eyes glittering with pride for him. And he literally felt his heart skip a beat. That alpha was his. Even when his heart did give a small strain. A very unfriendly reminder, Brad had been pulling away recently. Finding random excuses not to hang out with him on the weekends. Or at the beach. Or even, go on dates. Often hurrying home after his practice was over. Rather than wait for him to walk him home. He wished he knew why Brad had taken a sharp step back. They still were a happy couple in the halls of their high school. But outside, it was a different story.

Not to mention, the odd scent he was catching on Brad's sun kissed skin.

Was- was Brad, cheating on him?

If he was, then he'd thoroughly broken his heart. But, he also knew not to jump to conclusions. Perhaps Brad was trying to softly break things off. They were both headed to college and university soon. And possibly, to different ones. It could be hard retaining relationships with different schedules and locations. He understood that. He wouldn't mind ending it on good terms with Brad. But, could it wait until after the last game? He wanted to be Brad's support just one more time. Then, he'd gladly let the alpha find himself someone else. If that was what he wanted.

With a wink from his incredible and handsome boyfriend, Felix let the others guide him away for some water. And to await their last little routine. He could use the breather. As the principal and coaches went over things that he did not really care for, he looked to see the captain and some others in hushed whispers. Their gazes cast in his direction. Giggling. He had a feeling, it was about him. In the negative. Well, whatever. After today, he was leaving cheerleading as a whole. He'd go on to do mostly dance. It was more his passion, anyway. More freedom of expression than cheerleading. Less uniforms as well.

He would not let her ruin this one last season of his high school career.

He was a senior. He had an amazing boyfriend. He had scholarships to some of the best universities and colleges around. And his grades were at the top. He felt as if he held the whole world in his small omega claws. He would not let her drag him down.

But, the world slipped from his grasp.

Shattering it all.

//

After all the other announcements and activities for the student body, they returned for center stage a final time.

Their last routine and performance. Well actually, second to last. They still had to cheerlead at the big game. But after that, they were done. He would be done. And free of his bully of a captain. He had his sisters, it was more than enough now. Between Rachel's snide and snobbish remarks and Olivia's clear rude and insecurity poking comments, he had enough to deal with at home in terms of bullies. If his soon to be ex-captain could just back off a little longer, he'd be out of her black hair soon.

He's never liked her black hair. It had always seemed fake. It wasn't her natural coat color. He just, knew it somehow.

How, how fake was she?

Still, he pushed her from his mind to focus on their second to last routine together. Just two more, and he'd be done. This routine was far more intense than the others. And despite all the extra practice hours, he's never been fully confident in it. There was just something about it that just screamed, dangerous to him. But, he'd practiced without hesitation. He just, didn't feel confident in the hold of the others on him so high up off the floor. Unlike in practice though, there would be no slightly cushioned landing with mattresses. Hard ones, really. It was pure hard laminated wood flooring. One tiny mistake, and someone would get hurt.

Unaware it was himself.

He did his best to push the feelings of anxiety fluttering about in his stomach like butterflies, to the side. Promising his anxious wolf this was the last time. On slightly shaky and rather uncertain legs, he let himself be hoisted up further in the air with a few others.

It was unclear if it was done on purpose, or pure accident. Or even, pure coincidence. But the two beta-omega females that were holding him up, suddenly shifted and moved about. Shaking their heads, and closing their eyes. Indicating discomfort of something in them. Their holds on him slipped. His heart was instantly in his throat as he felt himself falling backwards. After that, his world went black.

He landed hard on the floor. An audible thud and decided crack echoed. Gasps rang out, before they surrounded him. Concern in their tone of voices. Only one, a beta-alpha teacher was on the phone. Calling for a paramedic. He thought he heard Brad's voice through the growing darkness surrounding him.

"Felix? Felix?!"
