Crowley was carving the 9th jack-o’-lantern and it wasn’t even lunchtime yet.
Aziraphale joined him on the deck looking out over their cottage’s back garden, gave him a peck on the cheek, and remarked:
“I don’t understand why you are making so many, my dear. Wouldn’t two or three do? Our cottage is not so grand that it warrants this number of decorational objects. This newfangled Halloween fad is just a commercial scheme, anyway…”
Crowley laughed, and countered: “You’re telling the one who invented it, Angel, as you very well know. And you sang a different tune last Valentine’s Day, if I remember correct-...”
His speech was rudely interrupted by something hitting their lawn with a loud “thud”.
