I really like how you wrote out the subtleties to this! The little reveals that make the MC out to be more and more hypervigilant (if you choose to take Gaz's words for the truth). And the slow insanity, the ramping tension of the rest of the crew. I liked it a lot! I also thought the "give in" vibe of the romance was very nice (anxious avoidant over here) and the villain-gaz energy was really distinct and fresh and good. The "he can anticipate all your wants, he can be anything and everything you need" is like, crazy alluring. Also the line
“You want something from God? You come to me.”

I dislike the reader as I, personally, would not let that shit stand. I dont care how hot or domineering any of my crew members are, my moral code and stance on fairness would kick them in the teeth. I also agreed with gaz that dispatching the body to space was, frankly, insane work. The author tried really hard with the sci-fi, I commend them, just as an aerospace engineer it reads more like lost in the abyssal in a huge sub than space. Especially with the vagueness of their mission, despite the emphasis that its in the future. I thought it was funny that they referred to solar cells by their government name though (literally-ha!). -
