Work Text:
It’s wet
Well what he means is that he is laying in a body of water. Yet he can’t bring himself to get up. He looks around the unfamiliar environment before him but all he can see is a white void and an ocean of water that seems to go on as forever. The white void makes his eyes hurt looking at it, he never thought he would ever see this much white in his life. Whoever created this place could have chosen any other color.
Teruki in this situation usually would be worried if he has been kidnapped, or that this place has been formed from a physic’s power if possible, or a spirit taunting him, or even a parallel world from that one trip.
But actually he wasn’t worried at all, to be fair he didn't feel anything at all. All he can hear is the sound of the waves and nothing else. The silence is rather comforting. He stayed there for a little while and any tension he had slipped away before he knew it, further making it harder to get up.
It's kinda nice, really.
That he doesn’t have to worry about anything at all because it doesn’t exist anymore. All his burdens are all gone, he didn’t even realize how heavy his shoulders were.
This also reminded him how he felt that day when he was floating in the sky. How freeing the feeling was.
His lack of senses is still concerning but he doesn’t really mind all that much.
There’s not much he can actually do so he takes a deep breath and closes his eyes. He can feel the water running through his finger and how his hair flows with the waves.
He doesn’t realize the fatigue that hits him as he slips to the darkness.
—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—
Hanazawa Teruki is lying on his bed staring at the ceiling. This week he doesn’t really have much plan to do, right now he’s being bored out of his mind. He already texted his “friends” Are we really friends? Most of them or ALL of them are busy doing something. He also has no lessons planned this week for the espers from the Awakening Lab. Even if Claw is gone, they believe it’s good to have a hang of their powers, to have more control over it.
White noise is his biggest enemy (besides Claw) He is not the biggest fan of being left alone with his thoughts. Sometimes the thoughts (or the voices) he has get a bit too much. In order to solve that problem he just turns on the TV to bring in some color of sound. Still that doesn’t quite help because Teruki starts getting lost in his thoughts about the past year. All the strange events that involve one specific person.
“Kageyama.”
I wonder what he is up to right now? It’s been a while since we last talked.
Maybe he’s free? Or am I going to just disturb him? Nevermind not sure what I am thinking. I just text if he’s free and it doesn’t matter if he says yes or no.
Teruki scrolls through the contacts he has, his friends, students, and his parents. Not that they reply back. After scrolling a bit and re-scrolling he seems he can’t find Kageyam’s contact.
Did I seriously never get his number?!?! I only thought I had it!
How did we meet up? Oh right, we just usually stumble across each other. Huh.
Great no way to contact him. Don’t even know where he lives also, well that will be creepy I guess.
Well what I DO know is that he goes to Salt Middle School. I just catch him at the end of the day. Simple as that. Even if we don’t hang out it would still be nice to have his number.
Teruki made it his mission to catch Kageyama after the end of school. On Monday he tried looking for him through the crowd and or sensing his aura but at last no luck.
Maybe he was held up with something? Oh! He probably goes to a club. Didn’t I see him with those bodybuilders students that look like high schoolers? Well they’re probably actually in high school by now. It’ll be a bit weird if I stayed here any longer. I could just try tomorrow.
Next day comes and after a long day of school Teruki rushes over to Salt Middle School. Once he tries to find Kageyama but again no sight of him. He decides to ask a random student.
“Hey I was wondering what was the schedule of clubs for this school?” Teruki asked.
“Oh it depends on which club? Usually they make up their own time when they meet but most of them are Tuesdays and Thursdays.” The student answered.
“Ah thank you for your response, have a good day.” Teruki said as he walked away.
So it’s still not possible to tell the schedule of his club. Ugh probably should have asked. It's too late now. But it does seem like Kageyama’s club is some kind of exercise, sporty club based on the jacked members I saw.
Never thought he joined that kind of club. That just says how amazing Kageyama is.
But this also tells me how much I don’t really know Kageyama. I know he is the type of person who is kind and forgiving but that doesn’t stop him when someone he cares about is getting hurt. He sees the good in people even with the sins they have committed. Kageyama is an inspiration for me to become. But I also know Kageyama is still human just like me and that psychic powers don't make you better.
But what about the simple things?
Like his favorite color? What does he do during his free time? Favorite movies? Stuff like that. What makes Kageyama… well Kageyama?
I guess I never really thought much of it this way. Well I guess I do know he does work at Spirits & Such Consultation Office. Wait! That could also be another reason why he doesn’t see Kageyama right after school. Still hard to tell though. I think I remember the route to the place. Only been there once before for Regein’s birthday. Doesn’t he have a website? I guess I could use that.
Well that’s a plan! Could check off ‘where to find Kageyama’ off his mental checklist. I wonder what we should do if he does say yes. Really didn’t think this through. Maybe we could go shopping again? Yeah that will be fun. Or go to movies or-
Losing his train of thought, Teruki slams directly to a wall.
“OW! Huh… I’m already at my apartment? Just how long I’ve been walking for.. I gotta be more careful next time, not sure how I walk through the streets.” Teruki said to himself.
“And it’s already getting dark, that much time has passed?” He questioned.
“Either way I should start heading inside, I’ll do it tomorrow.” Teruki said.
Teruki heads inside of his apartment and freshens up. He easily finishes his homework of the day and spends his time through social media. Before heading off to bed.
On Wednesday Teruki is hit with terrible news. First off he apparently missed the memo that there is an upcoming summative this Friday and was assigned a project due that same day. He was annoyed at his teacher for not assigning them the project last week or even in the beginning of this week. For the test, that was on him for being too distracted and wanting to hangout with Kageyama.
Right now he has a lot of work he needs to catch up on. And make sure to study also.
*sighs* “I guess I’ll be also busy myself this week”
Teruki spends the next two days working on the project and studying. He doesn’t really have to study as he can still pass the test without it. Still it also helps. While the project needs to be worked on along with his other assignments. He also has to do it at home since his teacher won’t allow them to work on it during class.
Finally the last day of school for the week had come. It’s still a pretty normal school day. He was able to turn in his project and the summative was a breeze. He thought it was a little too easy. Ending the school day it was finally time for the weekend. Luckily this week he only got off with one assignment needed to complete during the weekend. Teruki is on his way to the grocery store because this morning he realized he was running out of food so he needs to buy more.
Going through the store he bought everything he needed like some more eggs and milk since he was planning to bake. He checked out his items and left the store. He was now on his way to the Spirits & Consultation Office.
Not sure if I’m too late or not. There’s even the possibility of him not even having work today. Maybe not, it is the weekend. *Sighs* Why can’t this be easy? This whole time I haven’t even stumbled onto Kageyama.
Right when Teruki said that he bumps into a person. Must because he was lost inside of his thoughts.
“Ah! Sorry about th-“ Teruki said before he was cut off from the appearance of a familiar bowl cut hair boy he has been looking for the past week.
“Oh Kageyama! Sorry about that, I was out of it.” He sheepishly smiled.
“No worries.” Kageyama, using his telekinesis, floated his bag of groceries back into his hands. He didn’t even notice he dropped them.
“Thanks” He said as he adjusted the position of holding the bag. “How are you doing?”
“I’m fine, how about you? You look a little stressed.” Kageyama asked.
“Ah rough week. Well what are you doing out here? Going shopping?” Teruki asked.
“No, I'm just taking a walk to clear my mind up.” Kageyama said. “Do you want to join me?”
“Sure I definitely could use it. Also it’s the perfect time for us to catch up!” Teruki exclaimed.
The two boys catch up with each other. Like things that happen in school or even what happens at Kageyama’s job. Apparently one of the clients exclaimed that they’re being haunted by bugs. Because no matter where they looked they couldn’t find them. Even called the exterminators to see if it worked. But no matter what they just keep hearing the clicking crackling of the bugs. Kinda funny to actually find out they were being haunted by over a hundred cockroach spirits. Guess Kageyama and Regein were the true exterminators. Kageyama also mentioned that Regein was making a weird face and shivering a lot so he had to do all the work. Guess he is scared of bugs or at least cockroaches.
They talk some more before deciding to sit down on a nearby bench since they've been walking for so long. They sit down quietly before Kageyama opens his mouth.
“So what are you worried about?” Kageyama asked.
“I’ll tell you if you share yours. O-Or! Not at all you don’t have to.” Teruki said.
“No, I tell you. The reason I started doing walks is to get out of my room. I just feel “trapped” and it gets suffocating. If that makes any sense.” Kageyama explained while doing some hand motions.
“Yeah.. I can relate to that. The reason I had a rough week is yes like I said the teacher gave us a project with a two day deadline. And because…I wanted to hang out with you?” Teruki said with a hint of nervousness.
“Hang out with me? I guess we don’t hang out as often.” Kageyama pondered.
“EXACTLY! oops sorry. I just like to know more of you and us espers need to stick together! Also I was getting a bit lonely… But yeah! We should hang out more!” Teruki said.
“Sure I’m free tomorrow.” Kageyama said.
“Great! Before I forget, can I get your number? It will be useful to stay in contact. Unless you want us to keep stumbling onto each other.” Teruki chuckled.
“He-heh no I wouldn’t want that” Kageyama said.
They exchanged contacts with each other. The two stayed there and talked for an hour before it started to get dark.
“Well we should start heading home.” Teruki said.
Kageyama hummed and stood up to stretch. “We should do this again, it was nice.”
“Yeah it was. Do you wanna meet up here tomorrow?” Teruki asked.
Kageyama hummed in agreement.
“See you tomorrow!” Teruki shouted as he walked towards the direction of his apartment waving his arms. He looks behind to see Kageyama smiling and waving back.
Teruki made it back to his apartment and got ready for bed. He decided to skip dinner today because he wasn’t really hungry. He brushed his teeth and wore his sleeping wear. Before he slept he got a text from his phone. Specifically one from Kageyama. It says “Good night!” with a “╰(*´︶`*)╯” next to it. He decides to text “Bonne nuit” to see if he gets it. Kageyama texted “???” But follow up with “:o” and text “Bonne nuit” too. Teruki chuckled as he slid into bed. With a smile he falls asleep with his phone warming his chest up.
