Izuku had lied to Kocho. He and Tomioka weren't friends. Well, they had been for a while but then feelings were caught. Sanemi confessed first. He had told Tomioka that he loved him and to Sanemi's surprise, Tomioka had feelings for him as well.
Their relationship started off rocky, but it was a true, lovingly relationship. They traveled all over Japan, free to explore without fearing the dangers of the night. It was a beautiful and blissful three years, but it wouldn't last forever. Tomioka began to decline rapidly in health due to the mark.
His short black hair grew thin and his hand would shake when used. He needed to stop and rest more. It was awful knowing that there was nothing that Sanemi could do about it, to ease Tomioka's pain. All he could do was support his lover through those painful final months.
On his deathbed, Tomioka spoke his final words. "I only have one regret Sanemi, that I wouldn't be here to help you, as you have helped me." Tomioka looked at Sanemi sadly. "I love you Sanemi. I want your last memory of me to be us kissing. Please Sanemi," said Tomioka. Sanemi nodded and leaned down over Tomioka's face. He gave Tomioka a chaste kiss as his breathing faded away.
Tears trickled out of Sanemi's eyes. They dropped onto Tomioka's still, warm face. Sanemi spent the next few hours there, huddled on the futon with Tomioka's body until it was time to bury his body. Sanemi took great care with the grave. Sanemi would give one final look at the grave as he left to spend the last year of his life traveling.
