Being married turned out to be far more pleasant than he'd expected. Or, at least, the wedding night had been.
His mother had worried, given he was younger than she'd intended for him to marry, but Joffrey's presentation as an alpha left her little choice. Especially with his betrothed being an older and unwed omega.
No one liked for omegas to be unattached for too long, Targaryen ones especially. His match to Daeron had been set when the omega presented. Four years later, the betrothal turned out to be much shorter than his brothers' had been before their marriages, but those had all been arranged when his brothers were toddlers anyway so it was hardly comparable.
The shorter engagement served Joffrey just find. Targaryen beauty was ethereal and he'd long thought his uncle the most beautiful omega in Westeros. With the most enticing scent Joffrey had ever encountered. Light and airy, like a sea breeze blowing in from the harbor on Driftmark. A little salty. Sweet.
Sheathing himself in his new husband the night before had driven him wild. Joffrey's heart raced at the very thought of it. Of Daeron's pleasure painting their stomachs as Joffrey's knot took hold, of the slick hole that had drawn him in.
The taste of blood on his lips as he set his claim in Daeron's scent glands. Each and every one of them. Even his wrists and ankles. Joffrey hummed at the thought. His cock stirring as he woke.
Surely, no other alpha could be as lucky as him. Beside him in the bed, Daeron dozed, his short silver hair scattered across his pillows, reflecting the morning light as it streamed in through the window. Not so curly as Joffrey's own dark locks, but just as soft when he combed his fingers through the strands.
His omega did not wake and Joffrey merely relished in the sound of his light breathing. He watched Daeron's chest rise and fall. Soft lips were parted, slightly red still from the night before. Bruised from Joffrey's kisses, just as his throat was, his collarbone.
Part of him thought he'd gone mad, desperate to touch, to claim every inch of Daeron as their bodies melded together. His frantic need had overwhelmed him and Joffrey flushed as he raised the sheet to find he'd left handprints on Daeron's thighs as well.
"Your grace?" Daeron mumbled, long lashes fluttering. He shifted, limbs pulled long as turned onto his back.
"Good morning," Joffrey smiled shyly, brushing through Daeron's hair once more, "I did not mean to wake you. I'm sure you need all your rest after... after last night." He blushed, cheeks burning. Joffrey ducked his head, laughing nervously, "It was more intense than I expected. Or, uh, intended."
A hand rose up to cup Joffrey's cheek and he looked down into pale purple eyes. Daeron's voice rumbled in his chest. The sound vibrating through the both of them, the fire in Joffrey's blood burning anew.
"You knotted me several times, my prince, I have no doubt I shall deliver you a child within the year if you remain so diligent in your attention."
Joffrey giggled, smile spreading across his flushed face. He lowered his head, claiming Daeron's lips in a kiss. Much softer then those he'd given the night before.
His mind clearer now, Joffrey savored the taste of his mouth, the feel of Daeron's lips against his. He nipped at the bottom lip and Daeron opened his mouth.
The omega made no other move though. His body remained still. He did not return the bites, or lick into Joffrey's mouth, or even match his pressure.
"Are you well this morning?" Joffrey pulled back, brow furrowing. His gaze flickered over the omega, frowning, "I didn't... I didn't hurt you did I? That was not my intent, I can fetch a maester-"
"I am well," Daeron assured him, hands reaching out to grab his arm. Joffrey paused halfway out of the bed. His uncle snatched his hands back, head shaking, "You needn't worry about me, your grace, an omega is built to please their alpha, to sustain their... attention."
Rearing back, Joffrey scrambled to his side of the bed. Daeron startled. He sat up, head tilting.
"Have I upset you, your grace?" Daeron's voice shook, his hands twisted in the sheets, "I did not mean to-"
"No," Joffrey cut him off, eager to stop the odd waver in his uncle's voice. It left a bad taste in his mouth, hearing his omega talk like that, his scent twisting with something... acrid. Rotten even.
He didn't know what it was, had never caught such a scent from an omega before, but Joffrey was certain it was wrong. It had no place lingering on his new husband. On his omega.
"You didn't upset me," Joffrey swallowed and crawled forward. He settled beside Daeron on the bed, bowing his head to his omega's shoulder, "I am... I am just confused."
Joffrey exhaled, brushed fingers over Daeron's cheek, cupping his face. He tilted his head, looking up at his uncle. The subtle curves of his face. His sharp features.
At this angle, Joffrey could see every twitch of his uncle's face. Every expression, most of which he seemed intent upon masking. Upon hiding.
Daeron smiled at him, but it was tight, and his pupils trembled. Just as the rest of him did. Beneath Joffrey's palms, muscles clenched, jaw snapping shut as Daeron forced a cheerful expression. One Joffrey saw right through.
"Why didn't you kiss me back?" Joffrey asked, voice quiet. Daeron blinked. His forehead wrinkled, lashes fluttering. In the next moment, Daeron ducked his head and their mouths met again.
A startled moan ripped from Joffrey's lips as Daeron licked into his mouth. An insistent and constant pressure.
But the trembling persisted and Joffrey pulled away, pushing Daeron back onto the bed. His uncle huffed. A scowl twisted at his features for a half a second before he plastered on a softer expression yet again.
Though this time he did frown.
"Is that not what you wanted?" Daeron asked, biting at his lip as Joffrey panted above him. Desire burning through his veins, clouding his judgement. His scent rose in the air and Daeron's throat bobbed, "Did you... did you wish to take me again? As you did last night?"
Take him? Joffrey's nose wrinkled. The acrid note in Daeron's scent returned. With it, any pleasure Daeron's kiss had brought him fizzled out. Joffrey leaned back.
The omega beneath him seemed to... to shrink. Shoulders hunching, just slightly, and his bottom lip trembled as if he might cry before Daeron bit into the plump muscle.
"Do you want me to... to take you?" Joffrey frowned, pulling even further away. The omega audibly exhaled as Joffrey retreated to his side of the bed again. His scent mellowed, returning to that soft breeze Joffrey so adored.
Though something sharp lingered in the edges. It tickled at Joffrey's nose, reminding him of Daeron's obvious preference, though the omega did not answer his question.
No. It was a no. Daeron didn't want to have sex. Not now. Not...
He tried to think back, to remember how Daeron had reacted to him the night before. The noises he'd made. His body's responses to Joffrey's touch. Any subtle shifts to his scent.
The memories were fuzzy. Hazy from his frantic need. His desperation. Nearly as intense as the first rut he'd gone through a few months earlier, Joffrey could hardly recall anything beyond the vague and overwhelming sensations.
Daeron had... Had Daeron touched him at all? Joffrey squinted at the bedsheets. Hands fisted in the pale fabric. A head of silver hair lulling to the side. Lips parted, gasping breaths, stuttering as Joffrey's thrusts came quicker.
A wobbling lip when Joffrey's last knot had finally deflated. He'd nuzzled at his omega's throat as he rutted inside him a little more. Daeron's breath had hitched. A sharpness rising in his scent before Joffrey pulled out, mellowing as he'd collapsed beside him.
The sweetness had lulled Joffrey to sleep, but that had not been there the whole time, had not bloomed until the end, until...
"Did... did you not...like it?" Joffrey blinked, head rising as he looked up at his uncle through the tears gathering on his lashes, "Did you not want me?"
"I took your cock willingly, did I not?" Daeron shifted on the bed. His head turned, nose wrinkling, "A good omega pleases their alpha." Hands fisted in the sheets as Daeron glared at the mattress, "Was I not... acceptable?"
The air in his lungs froze. Every inch of his body suddenly cold as he watched Daeron swallow, his throat bobbing as he bit into his wobbling lip once again. Tears slid down his cheek.
"Fear," Joffrey mumbled to himself. The name for that acrid scent, the emotion that soured his omega's comforting aroma, the light breeze of a summer day destroyed by the sharp tang of lightning.
His uncle smelled of fear. His omega... Was Daeron...
"Are you afraid of me?" Joffrey choked out and Daeron's eyes widened. The scent thickened. Bile rose in his throat.
"No." Daeron spoke shortly, word clipped, and wholly unconvincing as he curled tightly into a ball. His shoulders hunched. His head ducked load, "I... I was trying to be what I thought you wanted."
"I wanted you to like it," Joffrey whispered, slipping from the bed. He backed away, arms wrapping himself as he looked for clothes. Any clothes, his, Daeron's, anything to cover himself.
He grabbed a shirt at random and tugged it on. It hung a bit loose around his shoulders, and long. A quick sniff and the familiar scent of his omega settled some of his frazzled nerves.
The omega himself remained on the bed, huddled against the headboard. He flinched as he turned, shifting to face Joffrey. Not that Daeron actually raised his head to look at him
"Are you certain I didn't hurt you?" Joffrey asked, brows furrowing as he surveyed his husband. "You... you climaxed several times last night." Joffrey mumbled, head tilting as Daeron flushed. "If you didn't enjoy it then-"
"I am just sore!" Daeron cut him off. His jaw clicked. The shadow of a scowl falling across his face as he tacked on a short "your grace."
Joffrey would have preferred a slap.
Exhaling slowly, Joffrey walked to the door. His uncle's shirt hung low enough for modesty's sake. In a broad sense. He ducked his head out the door and asked the guard he found in the hall to have a maester summoned.
"I said I was fine!" Daeron huffed, tugging the sheet up to wrap around his shoulders. His face grew redder when Joffrey rolled his eyes.
"You also said you aren't afraid of me but you still reak of fear!" Joffrey snapped, nostrils flaring. The omega's eyes widened and he hid his face in his knees. "I'm suppose to take care of you!" Joffrey groaned, arms flying wide as he began to pace, "How am I meant to do that properly if I can't even tell when I'm hurting you?!"
Head rising, Daeron peeked out at him over his knees. His voice wavered again, a quiet little croak, "You want to take care of me?" He sniffled. Tears clinging to his lashes, Daeron narrowed his eyes.
Pausing mid-step, Joffrey turned to look at him, face scrunching up, "Of course! What else would I want?!" He flung his hands in the air, rambling on about his duties as Daeron's alpha. As his husband.
"You like the way I smell?" Daeron picked out the least important thing Joffrey had said, but his head rose from his knees. A proper smile spreading across his cheeks finally. Soft and shy.
Joffrey's heart raced at the sight. He stilled, breath hitching as the omega giggled. A quiet little bell-like sound that rang through Joffrey's head, bouncing around in his skull until it was the only sound he could hear.
"My scent's always been quite light," Daeron mumbled, still smiling as he rubbed at his scent gland, "My septa said I smell more like a beta and..."
His eyes met Joffrey's then, soft and open. Just like his scent. The purple the very same shade as the sky when the morning cracked open the night and the darkness gave way to light.
"...I always thought my alpha would want someone better. A... a more proper omega, with a strong scent, like my brother," Daeron swallowed, eyes trembling, "Everyone always prefers him."
With a snort, Joffrey arched a brow, "I wouldn't call Aegon Targaryen a proper omega." He glanced towards the door, half expecting his own brother to burst in to defend the man.
"He's provided several heirs already, and his scent is strong enough to calm a whole feast, and-
"And the last time Lord Stark visited, he threw a giant tantrum and six people died before he got his scent under control," Joffrey deadpanned, eyebrow arching as Daeron grimaced. "And his scent is only so strong because he's always pregnant, and usually nursing too."
Daeron relaxed, a little. His knees dropping down as he leaned back against the headboard properly. He pursed his lips, "I suppose that's true..."
"He presented really young too, so he's had much more practice using his wiles to his advantage," Joffrey shrugged, immediately thinking about all the times Aegon flattered his lashes and puckered his lips just so Jace would carry him up the stairs to their chambers.
"I don't particularly want to use my 'wiles' like he does anyway," Daeron hummed, head tilting thoughtfully. He clicked his tongue, nose wrinkling, "And I certainly don't want to nurse twins while pregnant..."
"Do you want... I mean, you made that comment earlier," Joffrey rocked backwards on his heels, forehead wrinkling as he considered what Daeron had said so far.
His eldest brother had been married just over four years now and with the twins, Jace already had five children. With a sixth probably already underway given Aegon never spent long without a babe in his belly. A state the both of them seemed to prefer for the omega.
Eyes wide, Joffrey swallowed thickly as he stared at Daeron. "I don't think I want that many babies..." his voice cracked as the words slipped out and Daeron chuckled.
The omega fell sideways, his laughter growing louder and louder the more he tried to muffle it. "You think I-" Daeron shrieked, giggling madly as he kicked his feet out. "I could never!"
"So... we don't have to have lots of babies then?" Joffrey checked, approaching the bed slowly. A quick affirmation made it through the laughter as Daeron calmed himself down. A slow process Joffrey had no desire to speed up.
He felt as content as he might on the beach at Driftmark, swaying in the breeze. Daeron's scent curled around him. Light and sweet and practically bouncing with joy.
On the bed, Daeron's face split into a giant grin. He lay sprawled out, tangled in the sheet, chest heaving. Joffrey perched on the edge and resisted the temptation to steal a kiss.
"The first time I saw you I thought you were the most beautiful man I'd ever seen," Joffrey admitted, whispering to his husband even as he fiddled with a loose thread in the sheet.
His cheeks burned and he could feel Daeron's gaze. The room suddenly very silent. The air thick, and not just with their scents.
"When you came back from Oldtown to visit, after you presented, you'd somehow gotten even more beautiful and I didn't want to wait for my presentation to marry you," Joffrey bit at his bottom lip, ruffling a hand through his hair, "Luke teased me for months after our mother refused my petition."
"You wrote a petition?" Daeron gasped, rising onto his side. Joffrey nodded and he grinned, "A proper suit, before the court? Just to marry me early?"
"I did it at family dinner actually," Joffrey cringed, head falling into his hands. The courtiers would've laughed much less. "I think Baela might still be laughing at me, even now..."
Daeron shifted closer, ducking his head low to catch Joffrey's eye, "What did you say?" He bit at his lip again. Another shy smile breaking through as he reached for Joffrey's hand. "I... I had not realize you actually desired this marriage, beyond... beyond a want for an omega."
Their fingers laced together. Joffrey swallowed thickly. His voice cracked, but he managed to get the words out, managed to start. He rambled more than he meant to, more than was proper.
But then dragons were rarely proper.
"Aegon's not a knight," Joffrey pointed out, shoulders rolling back, "I've seen you train in the yard with Aemond since you're arrival. Daring they call you, yes? You certainly must be, to rile Aemond up and then laugh at him as you do "
"My mother's cousin bestowed the title on me, yes, though I suspect more for show than-"
Joffrey growled, nose wrinkling, "You think too little of yourself." His lips curled back, "You *are* daring, and brave, and beautiful, and intelligent, and kind, and-"
"You hardly know me, my prince," Daeron huffed, "Just because you find me attractive does not mean I am." He tried to pull away, but Joffrey refused to let him, holding his hand tighter.
"I read every letter you sent back, heard every story Aemond or your mother would tell me from their visits." Joffrey insisted. His brow furrowed as Daeron just stared at him. An eyebrow arched high.
As if Joffrey were the one being silly! As if it was not Daeron who refused to see reason, to see the truth that was so very plain before them.
No one could ever compare to Daeron.
Throat bobbing, Joffrey's cheeks burned as he admitted the truth, "When I made my case, I told my mother your scent would drive me mad, if I had to wait." He exhaled, "You... it is overwhelming, your scent."
Eyes trembling, Daeron did not so much as blink once as Joffrey continued. The words growing easier as they slipped from his lips.
"The greatest comfort I've ever know but also enthralling," Joffrey whined, gasping softly as Daeron's scent rose in the air. "I could hardly think straight in your presence. It reminds me of home, the harbor on Driftmark, the beaches of Dragonstone."
Blushing, Daeron kept staring. His own cheeks dusted a bright red and his mouth hanging open. Joffrey squeezed his hand and leaned closer.
"A briny scent, but sweet, and when I catch even the slightest whiff, I want to drown myself in you," Joffrey swallowed, bowing his head to his husband's shoulder. He inhaled. His breath hitching as Daeron shifted closer.
The scent hit him anew, like a breeze rushing forward. One strong enough to lift him from the deck of his grandfather's ship. He tilted his head, looking up at Daeron as his own scent thickened with arousal.
"My mother said if I could not control myself then I was too young to marry you anyway," Joffrey mumbled, brushing his lips over his uncle's throat. Over the bite Joffrey had sunk into Daeron's scent gland the night before.
His uncle had returned to Oldtown after his failed petition. The queen didn't say it was because of him, but... little else could have convinced her to send her brother away. To send an omega far from his closest family, his pack.
She wanted to protect him, protect both of them. Joffrey had proven himself unsafe, a danger to her brother and his virtue. Or so she said.
"I..." Joffrey pulled away as his gaze flickered over Daeron, over his neck. The blood still smeared across pale flesh. "I didn't mean to be so rough last night, but I'd never had your scent so... so close."
"You reacted like that because of my scent?" Daeron perked up, eyebrows rising sharply. The smile on his face twisted, a smug smirk taking it's place.
Cringing, Joffrey nodded sharply, "I shouldn't have lost control like that." He sat up properly, blowing out a breath as he pushed a hand through his hair. With a huff, his fingers curled into a fist at the back of his head, "My mother said alphas are suppose to be gentle with their omegas."
She'd be very upset, to find out Joffrey had acted so rashly, hadn't taken the time to ensure his omega was truly enjoying himself.
Oh gods... This was exactly the sort of thing she'd been worried about, surely, Joffrey ravishing her little brother. Hurting him in his desperation, letting his desire and his instincts take hold.
Joffrey paled, his gaze snapped to the door, "Do you think the maester will tell her?" His next breath shuddering. He dropped Daeron's hand, dragging both of his own through his dark curls as he whined, "She'll ban me from the Dragon Pit if I hurt you on our wedding night!"
With a laugh Daeron surged forward, shoving Joffrey onto his back. The omega perched himself in Joffrey's lap, discarding the twisted sheet beside them as he pinned the alpha to the bed. Daeron drew a line down Joffrey's chest with his finger and the alpha shuddered at the touch.
"I am a knight, as you said," Daeron drawled, head quirking to the side, "I am far from delicate, Joffrey." He ducked his head closer, voice low, "And I did not lie to you when I said I was merely sore."
"Are you sure?" Joffrey gasped, head falling back. That horrid acrid scent had dissipated. Entirely this time. Not even a hint of the sharp note in his uncle's scent. His now very thick scent.
And Daeron had used his name, called him Joffrey. No title, no silly formal address. Just his name.
It sounded so good when Daeron said it. Better, somehow. Right.
"You were just... energetic," Daeron purred, his scent softening with amusement as Joffrey blushed. "Next time, we shall take breaks between the knots, and..." Daeron pressed a kiss to his sternum, "You will kiss me more."
Nodding slowly, Joffrey stared up at the man, at the long limbs gliding over his body, caging him. A shiver ran up his spine. Fingers carded through his hair and Joffrey mewled.
"Can I do this?" Daeron asked, ruffling Joffrey's curls and grazing his nails over his skin, "When we... couple, again, could I... could I grab your hair?"
"You can touch me however you want," Joffrey moaned, words slurring. He leaned into his omega's palm, hips rising instinctively. Head lulling to the side, Joffrey managed to mumble, "I like when you touch me."
A throat cleared from the doorway and Joffrey shot up as his mother stalked into the room. He grabbed for the sheet, flipping Daeron onto the mattress in his haste to cover the omega.
"Joffrey!" Daeron huffed, shoving at the alpha's chest. His scent soured with annoyance as he glanced over Joffrey's chest. Following his gaze, Joffrey went scarlet.
The queen arched a brow, lips pursed tight as she surveyed them. A maester scurried in behind her before the door closed.
With a sigh, Daeron flopped back onto the bed. His lips puckered into a proper pout and the resemblance between Daeron and Aegon had never been more obvious.
"I told you I don't need a maester." Lashes fluttered and Joffrey's stomach flipped as Daeron ran a hand up his chest, pushing his shirt open before cupping the back of his neck, "Do you see what your dramatics have brought you?" Fingers rose in his hair and Joffrey swallowed back a moan.
"I am not dramatic!" Joffrey scowled, narrowing his eyes. He leveled a glare on his omega, "And don't think I can't tell you're trying to distract me now."
Wide eyes stared up at him. Bottom lip wobbling, Daeron sniffed, "I don't want a maester, alpha."
Perhaps Daeron could use his wiles as well as his brother after all..
Scrambling back, Joffrey nearly tumbled from the bed onto the floor. He yelped, landing on his feet with a huff. His chest heaving, Joffrey pushed a hand through his hair and pointed an accusatory finger at his husband.
"I will not be so easily taken in as my brother!" Joffrey stood tall, chin rising. Behind him, his mother made a strangled noise as the shirt he wore slipped from his shoulder.
Cheeks burning, Joffrey glanced around for some bottoms as he willed his cock to soften. Daeron whined from the bed and reached for a pillow, throwing it at Joffrey. It hit him square in the chest.
"Is there a *reason* you called for a maester?" The queen cleared her throat and Joffrey flushed as he looked back at his mother, tying the laces of his trousers as quickly as he could. She looked skyward, jaw clenched as her gaze remained locked on the ceiling.
"Uh, well, he... he flinched, a bit, when he sat up," Joffrey said and Daeron growled from the bed. Shooting him a quick look, Joffrey turned to the maester, "I just want to be sure I didn't hurt him, last night. You... you said an omega could tear, if they got overstimulated."
Another pillow flew through the air. This one Joffrey caught, just before it hit his face. Daeron glared at him, hissing his name and Joffrey's throat bobbed. He avoided his mother's gaze
"If you wanted me to believe you about the soreness, you shouldn't have tried to hide it from me," Joffrey snapped. Hd crossed his arms, meeting Daeron's hard gaze with his own. "I will not touch you again until the maester agrees I did not hurt you."
Daeron rolled his eyes, but he allowed the maester to check him properly. He even submitted to Joffrey applying a salve to his raw skin once their guests had left.
Humming, Daeron hitched his feet up on Joffrey's shoulder and watched him through his lashes, "Will you do this every time we get a bit rough?"
"I'm not going to be rough again," Joffrey declared, jaw clenched and brow furrowed. The maester had said Daeron was fine, but the red and swollen hole before him said otherwise.
"But I thought my scent drove you wild?" Daeron teased, voice light. His scent thickened as Joffrey circled his rim with another layer of salve, slathering it over the skin. The omega sighed, "And I didn't get to enjoy it properly last night..."
Joffrey groaned, head falling forward as his husband wiggled his hips. Hands gripping at the sheets, Joffrey tried to breathe through his mouth, "The maester said I shouldn't knot you for at least week, and to wait a day or two to try penetrative sex."
"Oh, I know," Daeron purred, hand climbing up Joffrey's chest. He laced his fingers through dark curls and tugged Joffrey down, roughly, "But my brother told me about all sorts of things we could try instead."
Their mouths slotted together before Joffrey could say anything else. And he certainly couldn't think with Daeron sucking at his tongue. Moaning, Joffrey rolled them over, settling his husband in his lap.
"You're in charge for this one," Joffrey mumbled against his lips. The grin Daeron gave him as he drew back had Joffrey's throat bobbing.
He didn't think they'd be following the maester's orders quite like the man had intended. But with Daeron naked in his lap, Joffrey didn't care. Even his mother's hissed reminders were quickly forgotten as Daeron's head fell back.
Marrying his uncle might actually be better than he'd imagined. Nothing could possibly be better than watching violet eyes darken with lust, for him. Arousal rising in his favorite scent, becsuse of him.
Joffrey moaned, and buried his hands in silver locks. He drew Daeron down for another kiss. His husband hummed, nipping at his bottom lip. Joffrey gasped, "Please, don't ever stop kissing me."
"I won't," Daeron chuckled, kissing over his jawline, smile big and bright, "You're my alpha now." He sucked at Joffrey's throat, long lashes brushing against his skin. "And I intend to make sure we both enjoy that fact."
Teeth sunk in, piercing his scent gland. Joffrey cried out. Pleasure cresting as Daeron claimed him. His vision went white and his body shuddered through an orgasm.
"Shall I take my pleasure, my prince?" Daeron purred, lapping up the blood, tongue swirling over the fresh bite, "Take you? As you took me? Bury myself in your warm scent?" He rose back up, kissing Joffrey's teeth, "In your body?"
"Yes~" Joffrey breathed, writhing beneath his husband. Fingers curled into his hair. Their first day as a married couple, and Joffrey enjoyed it even more than he had the night before.
