Chapter 1: Eraserhead is back in town

Who would have thought that Aizawa, the seemingly rational one, would take a group of his kids for a little memory walk in his favorite alleyways of Naruhata

Chapter Text

---
"Eraser.. don't you think you're being a bit too careless with this plan? I mean these kids are Villain magnets something could go wrong!"

Thirteen commented, sitting on the couch in the teachers lounge with his helmet off. Midnight and Mic were currently trying to flip a bottle to stand upright. Ectoplasm was trying to test if Snipe was napping in his chair, or just pretending to, by making silly faces and seeing if he laughs under his mask or not.

"Me? Careless? Oh please. I know Naruhata like the back of my hand and if anything goes wrong the students will have the safety bracelets on them. They can call for help at any time and a nearby Pro Hero will come."

Eraserhead prepared all five of the bracelets already and took care of all the paperwork. His plan was perfect. The Impulsive Patrol Group was all set and ready for a nice little test of their skills. Aizawa is a rational man and teacher. But that doesn't mean he isn't able to make a little bit of a sneaky plan sometimes. A rational deception he calls it.

---

Midoriya stared out the window of the train while his leg bounced slightly with excitement.

"I never thought Aizawa sensei would actually invite us to a patrol! Especially before we even got our provisional licenses."

The green haired boy decided to chat up Kirishima who was sitting next to him. Though his classmate just looked a bit worried.

"It's nice and everything but.. don't you think he took us because of the whole Bakugo rescue thing? I mean Kaminari and Aoyama weren't there but us two being together is a bit too convenient.."

Kirishima was right. The incident that led to All Might's retirement was still fresh in their minds. The two blonde boys that were also taken along on this little outing were just chilling peacefully in their seats located right behind Kirishima and Midoriya's seats. The train slowed down and gently came to a stop as a clear voice called out from the speakers. "Naruhata". The four boys quickly stood up to leave the train. Their teacher was already waiting, his trainee standing by his side like a carbon copy of the man. Shinso is an aspiring Hero who wants to make it into the Hero course classes even after failing the entrance exam. Aizawa helps him achieve that goal by helping him train and shaping him into a Hero as if he was already a student of his class. The walk out of the train station was quiet. And so was the walk through the main streets. When they made it to a more cramped part of town, entering a side alleyway, Aizawa spoke up.

"Don't get your hopes up alright? This is just some simple mobility exercise not a real patrol. I'm not planning on fighting any Villains with all of you on my watch."

Aizawa spoke calmly, his cold eyes scanning through his students.

"I decided on this place because I know it quite well and the tall buildings put so tightly together makes for a great exercise ground. We could do this in the training city built on UA but they aren't always as accurate and sometimes can make you feel inconsiderate."

The teacher was obviously referring to the way that his students often went straight into what should be private property uninvited and jumped around without a care in the world because the buildings were all fake anyways. Well now they are in the real deal. Kind of weird to be taking the students outside of UA grounds right after all those incidents that caused the incorporation of dorms.. but Aizawa has his own unique ways of teaching so nobody is gonna question that.

"Midoriya you may start off by getting up to the roof of this yellow building alright?"

Aizawa said and the student didn't hesitate in completing the task. He hopped from wall to wall, avoiding being too close to any windows. The gap between the two tall buildings was big enough for him to easily make his way up onto the rooftop without a big issue. The teacher nodded to him and looked down at the other four still by his side.

"Midoriya's Quirk was quite suitable for an issue like this don't you think? It's normal for him to have an advantage in a situation like this. But even though he does have this advantage you have to keep up somehow. A Villain isn't gonna stay on the ground just because you can't climb. So give it your best shot"

Aizawa leaned back and watched at Shinso immediately scanned around for something to grab onto with his capture weapon. He isn't as good as his mentor with it but he isn't bad either. Or so anyone would think when seeing him throw it around. Aizawa is the only one who can see his small mistakes due to his expirience so before the purple haired teen can even grab the cloth around his neck he stops him by grabbing his shoulder, causing some confusion to appear on his face.

"Why can't I get up here?"

Hitoshi asked looking at a pipe he chose as his target to hold onto.

"This is why I took you out here. This isn't the UA training grounds, the pipes aren't made for people to climb them. If you pull too hard you could end up breaking it and getting showered with property damage fines. Find a better hold for your capture weapon."

Aizawa's scolding kind of brought the excitement of the students down but they didn't give up. Shinso found that a corner ledge of the building works just as fine in attaching his capture scarf too. Kirishima abandoned his idea of climbing the wall by using his hardening Quirk and brute strenght as that would make visible holes in the building and cause even more property damage than a busted pipe. Instead he wedged himself between the two buildings using his arms and legs and tried to climb that way. Aizawa just sighed.

"Seriously? You're planning on catching a Villain this way?"

The teacher once again commented, making Shinso who was already halfway up the building snicker a bit. Kirishima scolded himself for his unmanly ways and started to brainstorm ideas with Kaminari instead. Aoyama who seemed to be standing around aimlessly so far started to look around. Aizawa let him, moving his position slightly to keep all his students in his line of sight. Kirishima and Kaminari stood back to back and put their legs against the walls of the building. They then made a swift climb, using each other as support. It was efficient enough for Aizawa's liking so he didn't say anything this time. The strategy looked really cool and the boys were clearly proud of thinking up such an idea. Well at least until they got to the top of the building and got stuck. The constant pushing of their backs against each other and the walking on walls was cool and all but it didn't really help in getting over the rooftop ledge, especially since if Kirishima or Kaminari made a wrong move they would just fall right back down.

---

Midoriya, Shinso and Aoyama stood calmly at the top of the building, watching as Kirishima tried to comfort Kaminari and convince him that they won't die even though they are kind of suspended in midair between two buildings. Soon enough Aizawa used his own capture weapon to get up, doing it at the same speed as Midoriya if not faster. The teacher then grabbed his two students and pulled them up to safety.

"I'd praise you for making, or at least trying to make, a plan that would work in a real situation if not for the fact that you all missed a fire escape ladder right around the corner of the building. It's not hard to find one like that on almost every structure that is even two floors high and Aoyama seems to be the only one with enough logic to know that."

Aizawa was understandably upset with the lack of situational awareness that these students had. And they want to be Heroes? His disappointed look made even Midoriya stare at the ground in shame. Eventually after a few seconds of silence Aizawa sighed for what felt like the hundredth time today.

"Go up there now. And try to do it fast okay? I'll stay on this roof and catch you in case anything goes wrong."

Aizawa grumbled and crouched down on the very edge of the rooftop. The rooftop they were on and the one he wanted them to get to wasn't too far apart and it wasn't that much of a height difference. A good jump and quick climb should do it. Midoriya started off strong and so did Shinso by immediately jumping into action. Aoyama took a second to think before he used his new technique that he just developed. A scattered out laser that didn't really cut anything all that much as his usual focused laser did. He didn't cause any damage to the rooftop but managed to clear the gap thanks to the recoil of his Quirk. Kirishima used a regular jump and so did Kaminari. They all made it across well enough and didn't break anything which was a big success for their second try. Aizawa once again acknowledged it with a nod and also jumped to the next rooftop.

---

Jumping around and climbing was quite exhausting. Thankfully all these Hero students seem to have never ending energy in them. Aizawa stood calmly on a rooftop close by the next exercise spot, watching his students working together in a group this time. There was a faint hint of a smile on his face, covered by his capture weapon so nobody would see it. These kids maybe be problematic as hell but they are his kids after all. Aizawa's peaceful thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a hand going right over his mouth and nose. Aizawa involuntarily gasped and tried to grab whoever snuck up on him but it was way too late for that. The world blurred and faded away quickly as Aizawa's now almost lifeless body dropped to the ground, causing his students to scream out. They just can't get a break from the Villains can they?
