Work Text:

It's a cold day in Philadelphia. Snowing, insane winds. It's a nightmare for Charlie because he runs cold unlike his friend Mac (the human heater).

Charlie walks into Paddy's with his hair windswept and his nose and ears pink in comparison to his cold, pale skin. 'Shit, he was cold!' He thought to himself as he rubbed his hands frantically together. With the friction on his hands not hearing him up he just starts to wave them at his sides because Frank told him that it gets the blood flowing, he doesn't wanna do it too hard because he doesn't want the blood to flow out he just wants to get it in a circle like Frank said.

"Dude, what the shit are you doing?"
Mac asks with a smirk on his face as he watches his friend wiggle around Paddy's and waves his hands at his sides.
"I'm moving around so my fingers don't freeze and fall off, man. Just because you don't know dick about science!"
Mac frowns as charlie retorts back with a hint of malice. He has been so grumpy with the cold weather it was driving Mac insane having to deal with him and his constant shivers and jumping around and trying to huddle up next to him so they can 'keep warmth like penguins'. Mac wasn't a penguin, and neither was Charlie for that matter!

"Yeah, 'cause you know stuff about science." Mac says dryly as he watches charlie jiggle on the spot. "You look like a complete idiot man! How is...Jiggling and wiggling and-..." He lets out a frustrated groan "...Squiggling around gonna make your fingers not fall off, bro!?"
Charlie sighs and rolls his eyes.
"Because it keeps your blood in a circle and it- uh...Frank told me it'll help me warm up!"
Mac squints at him and scowls.
"Oh, Frank told you so it must be true. You look stupid as hell dude but you also look insanely cold. Your nose is all pink and- you're all pink and pale and shivery, man! Just-...Just c'mere, idiot"
Mac waves him over begrudgingly. Charlie looks at him puzzled and shuffles along the sticky floor of Paddy's to his friend who's wearing an odd look on his face. He felt like his toes were gonna fall off, probably because he trudged along the snowy streets all the way to the bar in his usual sneakers.

After charlie walked towards Mac who's was frozen in place he got impatient. "What is it, man?! I need to keep the jiggle going or I'm g-gonna be cold!" Charlie's teeth chatter as Mac groans and grabs Charlie's arms as he bites his lip.
"I'll let you huddle with me okay, man. Because I know that's real info on how to keep warm because we watched the badass penguin documentary together."
Charlie's face lights up and grin breaks on his pink lips.
"You'll let us huddle!?"
"Yes. Because everyday this week you have come in freezing your ass off and I've had enough of you jumping around like a you've drank 40 energy drinks so, please...indulge me in the huddle, Charlie boy."
Mac tries to hide his smile at his friends face but he doesn't get to look at it for long because charlie is already wrapping him in a bear hug as he slips his hands quickly under Macs t-shirt to soak up his heat.

Mac winces at the sudden cold touch of Charlie's frozen fingers.
"Damnit! Charlie! Give me a warning before you stick your icicles under my shirt!" He exclaims and then grumbles under his breath, "asshole."
Charlie smirks into Mac's chest and rubs his hands up his back soaking in as much heat as he can and huddling into him like the penguins in the documentary.

"Hey, you gotta hold me back too, dude! That's what the penguins do, be a bro...be a penguin!"
Mac groans and hesitantly wraps his arms around his friends smaller frame and burrows his nose in the greasy hair. He had a weird smell, it was comforting to Mac because it smelt likes his childhood. It smelled like spilled soda in a grimy basement and smoke and a hint of something indescribably Charlie, it was a nostalgic home-y smell but if anyone got a whiff of him other than Mac they'd think it was an unpleasant smell.

Mac holds his cold friend close. He's reminded of the penguins, Charlie wouldn't stop talking about that documentary for a week after they watched it and now that it was so cold in Philly this week the obsession with it had came back in full rotation.

He smiles,
'i love Charlie', the thought passes by his mind like it usually does when he's around the man but doesn't make it's way past his lips. He leans into the touch and rubs his back vigorously in an attempt to heat him up.
"Any better?"
"Mmhmm...really nice. 's Cozy. See, sharing is caring."
Charlie smirks into Mac's chest and nuzzles into him. "Thanks, Mac."
"Yeah, yeah." Mac sighs into Charlie's hair with a smile the other man can't see, "no problem, buddy."
