Notes:

This is my first time writing fanfiction and I'm not sure whether I'll write more, but let's see where fate takes us. Anyway, these boys have no clue how they've haunted me so stunningly

Previous title : Enough

Work Text:

Nuengdiao Kittrakulmethee was a lot of things. Stubborn, rich, selfish. Stupid wasn't one of them. Sure, he might not have a lot of friends, he may not know many social cues, but he doesn't miss the way Palm looks at him.

Palm, Pannakorn Jannaloy, Uncle Chanon’s son, looked at him like he was the most precious thing ever. Like he was something to protect, someone to die for.

It scared Nueng.

He had already lost his dad. He doesn't know if his mom is alive. He's on the run with his bodyguard, Palm. He's living on an island in a motel built by said bodyguard's mother.

It scared him just how much Palm was ready to do for him.

From jumping over the boundary and skipping school with him, to running away with him to keep him safe from his uncle, Palm did everything for him.

He wondered just how much Palm could do for him.

Would Palm kiss him again if he asked?

He was scared to try, but he could never miss how Palm looked at him. He was always looking out for him, he knew Nueng was physically weak, so he became his brawn. Palm knew how comfortable Nueng's life had been, so he always offered help when Nueng tried to do anything.

It was so, so annoying, but Nueng could not deny how his heart fluttered when he realised that Palm was just looking out for him.

So on the night of Woo and David’s wedding, in their room, with enough privacy, Nueng said “I just want to have a boyfriend.”

Palm, with an unreadable expression in his eyes, blinked. Nueng continued.

“I want to have someone to hug, to care,” he leaned towards Palm. “and to love.”

Palm looked down and away, neither his gaze nor his eyes meeting those of Nueng’s, and replied, “I told you that you would find that person one day.”

This boy was either utterly stupid, or he pretended to be. Nueng decided to test the waters. He moved himself so he was sitting just beside Palm, their shoulders touching. Whether willingly or nervously, he touched Palm’s arm with his fingers. He always loved how soft his skin was, and how rough his hands were, and how beautiful he looked everyday, and how he wanted to kiss him whenever he smiled.

Barely keeping his composure, he asked, “What if I don’t want to wait anymore?” He looked at Palm, and Palm met his gaze. “I want to have him right now.”

Palm looked at him, some sort of hope clouding his eyes. He looked down at Nueng’s lips, then back at his eyes, and asked, “What do you want?”

Him. Nueng wants him. Nueng wants Palm.

Could Nueng really tell him how bandy he wanted him? How he wanted Palm to touch him the way that he wanted, and not in the careful, keeping-a-distance way. He decided that he was not backing down now.

“Since I became a new person after coming to this island, I want to try to do new things.” His eyes did not miss the way Palm looked at his lips, staring not longer than half a second. “For example, dating.”

Palm’s eyes flickered with desire, not sure whether to look at Nueng’s lips or to admire his eyes. There was no way that he could pretend that his love was one sided now, not with the way Khun Nueng looked at him.

“Can you be my boyfriend?” His world stopped.

Palm had only let himself indulge once, when Ben had broken Khun Nueng’s heart. He had passed it off as wanting to comfort him, but the truth lay hidden in a vault in his mind. So he wasn’t really sure what he was supposed to do now. Khun Nueng was from a wealthy family, he had everything he could want in his life, and despite it all, he wanted him, Palm, a fisher boy with no visible future. How could he say no to Khun Nueng, with his beautiful eyes and soft, pink lips that were currently asking him to be his boyfriend.

“Are you serious?” is all that he could ask.

Khun Nueng looked at him like he had asked him why two plus two equals four. “Yes I am. I’m not joking about it.” he said. Palm did not know what to feel about this.

“While we are living on this island, can you be my boyfriend?” Palm’s own heartbeat was so loud that it was drowning out anything that Khun Nueng was saying. But yes, yes, yes, he could do that. He could be Khun Nueng’s boyfriend if he wants him to be.

“What do I need to do?” Palm is ready to do anything Khun Nueng wants, Palm is ready to die for him. But the way Khun Nueng looks at him, oh god if he were to die right now, he would die happily.

He watches Khun Nueng hesitate and then ask, “Can you kiss me again?” Before Palm can process in his little brain, Nueng continues, “You said that the last time you kissed me was because you wanted to comfort me. This time, I want you to do it from your true feelings.”

Palm could die right now, but he doesn’t. Instead, he moves his face towards Khun Nueng, and is delighted when he is met with a faster Nueng crashing their lips together. Palm takes the lead, moving his face somehow even closer to Khun Nueng’s and sucking on his lips. And when Khun Nueng places his hand on Palm’s shoulder to pull their bodies closer, who is Palm but a man at the mercy of his boss? A boss who was currently kissing him, a boss who had just asked him to be his boyfriend.

Palm could not have asked for anything more, he wanted Khun Nueng’s lips on his own desperately, he wanted Khun Nueng, and now he had him, and he was the most grateful person alive for a moment.

It ended too soon when their lips parted, a sense of loss washed over Palm but that was killed off when he saw the way Khun Nueng stared at him. Oh, he realised, He wants more .

As Khun Nueng moved his face towards Palm’s again, Palm decided to tease him. “Is this how couples kiss?”

He didn’t want an answer, he wanted Khun Nueng. With his hand, he held his neck and pulled him towards himself, kissing him again.

Nueng slid his arm around Palm’s neck, deepening the kiss, demanding more. With the grip on his neck, he pulled Palm towards him as he fell down on the bed. Their lips never parted as Palm followed willingly. Palm kissed him hungrily as he was on top of him, and Nueng’s hand travelled along Palm’s back, feeling each and every muscle that Palm had built over the years. The thin fabric of Palm’s vest was not enough to stop the trail of sparks that Nueng’s fingers left on his back.

And while it was enough, it also wasn’t, not when Palm tasted like heaven, not when he wanted Palm to touch him more, to leave him senseless.

But for tonight, this was enough.

Nuengdiao Kittrakulmethee was a lot of things, but stupid wasn’t one of them. He was not blind to the way Pannakorn Jannaloy wanted him too.

Notes:

I really don't know why I never watched Never Let Me Go while it was airing (probably because I wanted to binge it and then completely forgot about its existence) but holy shit these boys have ruined my life. I go to school, I think about them. I stay at home, I think about them. I close my eyes, I see them. This is pure mental illness. Only my best friend knows the extent of this mental illness.
Anyways I binged this in two days and they are all I can think of. Their story was so doomed by the narrative, and at some point i really thought that Palm would die, but they beat the narrative! Can I get a hell yeah!

Edit : no hell yeahs for giacomo? 😢
