Chapter Text
Gon POV:
Ging says he has to leave me again. But this time he is promising to meet back up with me. It's been two years since Killua and I split up. We used to text everyday, but now, he hasn't talked to me in forever. It's made me fall into some sort of depression. Not knowing what he's doing or if he's even alive really worries me. But, I still don't think he's dead. Unless he ran into Illumi or any member of his family and got sent back to be tortured. That would not be good. I would hate to have to break in and save him.
I walk into the kitchen and see Ging standing by the front door.
“Leaving already?” I ask sadly.
“I’m afraid so, son,” He doesn't sound too sad about it though. Maybe he's tired of me. Did I do something when I was young to make him hate me so much? Why does he hate me! I don't understand older men. He won't even tell me where he's going or how long he will be gone.
“See ya’, kid,” He says, opening the door.
“Bye,” I say gloomily. He doesn't even look at me or respond. He just walks out the door without a word.
As the door shuts, I quickly pull out my phone. Ging might not like me, but Killua does. I open up the text messages between me and Killua. The last message is a cat picture with a goodnight text from Killua. On the corner of the text it says *7/14/20* almost a year ago. Today is 7/7/21. Then it hits me.
IT'S KILLUA'S BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Omg omg omg I haven't said happy birthday yet. I quickly type HAPPY BIRTHDAY KILLUA!! With a cake emoji.*sent*
Killua POV:
I check my phone for the fourth time today. Still no message from Gon. Maybe he forgot? No no no he's not like that. Maybe he's mad at me for not texting him? Well it is only 12:00. I know how much he likes to sleep. He's probably just sleeping, that's all. I put my phone back in my pocket and head to the living room of me and Alluka’s hotel room. There Alluka is, sitting on her phone, giggling. I wonder what she's laughing about. I was just about to ask, when my phone buzzed.
I whip out my phone and unlock it, not even looking at what the notification was. I open my messages with Gon. There it is. The message. I'm so happy I can't move. Can't breathe.
“What?” Alluka looks at me suspiciously. I don't respond. I start typing a thank you and then stop. I can't send it right away. He’ll think I'm desperate. But I can't wait any longer. I click send. My message shows bright blue on my screen. I read over it again.
“Thank you, Gon.” It says, with a happy face emoji.
Alluka pops off the couch and comes up behind me to look at my screen.
“So your boyfriend finally texts you happy birthday and you lose it,” She looks at me with a sly smile.
“He's not my boyfriend!” I snap, pulling my phone away from her. She rolls her eyes.
“Sure”.
Gon texts me, “Hey, Ging is going to be gone for a really long time. Like for a year. Do you want to meet up again? I want to give you your birthday present (:.” He got me a birthday present? He's such a good friend.
“I would love to meet up with you! Is it ok if Alluka comes too? I can't leave her behind,” I punch in. Sent. Two seconds later, Gon's little typing dots show up.
“Sure! I would love that! Where are you now?”
“I'm in a green leaf hotel room. Hby?”
“Omg me too! What level are you on! I can't believe I never saw you.”
“Level 40. It takes a really long time to get up here. Want to meet at the lobby?”
“Sure! See you there” I'm so excited. I have to tell Alluka. I look around. Where did she go?
“Alluka?” I call out.
“I’m putting my shoes on!” She calls from the front hallway. “I read your texts from behind you! I can't believe I get to see your boyfriend again!”
“He's not my boyfriend!” I call. I'm a blushing mess. Alluka likes to tease me like that. I don't know how she figured out I liked him. I get my shoes and socks on and run out the door. Alluka is already at the elevator, pressing the down button. As we get in, Alluka tells me how she hopes he is taller than me now. She says it would give my pride a good bruising.
We get to the lobby, and I see a figure with spiky green hair. GON! He turns around. I see his eyes light up. I run towards him. He embraces me in a hug. I breathe in his familiar scent.
We stand there hugging for a good while, until Alluka comes up and huffs. I pull away from Gon. He sees Alluka and pats her head.
“Hi Alluka,” He says, smiling. Alluka grins.
“Aww dammit!” She says. “You're still taller than him Killua.”
“I told you I would be!" She rolls her eyes.
“Anyways,” Gon says. “Happy birthday Killua!” He hands me a small box. I open it. Inside, there is a little pin that reads “WORLDS GREATEST BEST FRIEND”. I put it on with a smile.
“Thank you.”
"So.." Gon says. "What do you guys wanna do?"
Alluka POV:
We deicide to go to a nearby cafe. As we walk, Gon and Killua catch up. I'm glad they got to meet up again. Being alone with me was taking a toll on Killua, I could tell. I don't blame him. He's human and deserves to be around people his own age.
When we get to the cafe, Killua orders coffees for him and Gon. I didn't want one, so they just got me a hot chocolate.
My hot chocolate was really frickin' good. I drank it all in like, three seconds. We decide to sit down outside. Well, not really. I complained about my feet hurting until they got us a table.
Since I'm done with my hot chocolate, I take out my phone and start scrolling on social media. I check all my apps but get kinda bored, so I turn off my phone.
After putting my phone back in my pocket, I look up to see Gon and Killua fighting. I wonder what they're bickering about now.
"You don't get it, Gon!"
"YES I DO!! I KNOW YOU'RE WRON-MHFPH!" Killua covers Gon's mouth with his hand. I watch them fight like babies.
"Gon, we're not gonna argue about this anymore. It's obvious that cats are better than dogs. They are way nicer an- DID YOU JUST LICK MY FINGER?!"
"Yeah hehe don't put your hand on my mouth weirdo." Honestly, they act more like children than me sometimes. People are starting to stare.
"Guys shut up people are looking at us. It's not even a big deal," I say, annoyed. "Let's just go."
