Work Text:
Ryan weaved through alleyways to get to Butcher's house undetected, it's a lot easier to leave a heavily guarded penthouse when you can just fly out of one of the many windows. Ryan knocked on a window and looked around nervously hoping no one saw him. I mean he’s the son of basically the most famous person in the world, people might start swarming him and that’s the last thing he wants.
Ryan was about to knock again when the curtain was pulled back and he was staring into Butcher's eyes, he couldn’t help but smile. He really cares about Butcher despite the fact his dad chastises him for it. He doesn’t want him to die, that would be the last person who truly cared about Ryan to die and then he would be left with no one.
Butcher opened the window and Ryan climbed though. It was kinda awkward till Butcher started talking.
“So” Butcher clasps his hands together, “I’ve got connect 4, lego and a little something special, just for you”. Butcher grabbed the bulldog cookie jar off the counter and took the lid off. “Their your mum’s recipe”.
Ryan sucked in some air at the mention of his mom, he loved her and he most certainly loved the cookies she would make for him on his birthday. Ryan hesitantly stuck his hand in the jar and pulled a cookie out.
He looked up at Butcher and then took a bite out of the cookie, it was your standard chocolate chip cookie. It tasted like it was by his mom and it just made Ryan miss her more. He turned and headed over to Butcher's black leather couch when he felt.. weird. He stumbled a little in his walk.
“It works fast” Butcher thought as he saw Ryan wobble. He walked over to him and asked “woah are you alright there?”. He knew Ryan wasn’t but he didn’t want to seem suspicious.
“I-im ok, I think?” Ryan said confused on why he felt so.. off.
“Yeah you should sit down hm?” Butcher said, leading Ryan to his couch. Ryan just let himself be pushed to the couch. Butcher sat down next to him and not even a second later Ryan was slumped over, his head resting on Butcher's shoulder. Quietly snoring away.
Butcher gently moved Ryan off his shoulder and laid him down on the couch and went over to the counter and grabbed his phone and snapped a picture of the sleeping boy. And sent it to the others and captioned it “secured the bird”.
Butcher felt bad for having to drug the kid, he knows Ryan is loyal enough to stay with his dad. The others think he’s gonna be like his dad but Butcher has faith in Ryan, he knows he’s a good kid. In Butcher's eyes he's taking Ryan to save him from his dad not because he thinks he’s gonna be like him.
