A Talk With The Past

Summary:

Izuku, in his heart of hearts, knew that he was well and truly fucked as soon as Aizawa-sensei was back to his full faculties.

The mother of the little girl whose quirk had gotten away from her, who turned Aizawa-sensei back into a teenager, was extremely apologetic to Izuku. Aizawa-sensei wasn’t exactly conscious for that whole explanation.

After Aizawa is hit with a de-aging quirk that turned him back into a teenager, Izuku has a chance to say some stuff that he hopes the adult version does not remember.

Notes:

I'm gonna be known as the person who writes de-aged Aizawa fanfics, aren't I? That will e my legacy here.

This is for Starry whose prompt was "de-aging quirk".

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Izuku, in his heart of hearts, knew that he was well and truly fucked as soon as Aizawa-sensei was back to his full faculties.

The mother of the little girl whose quirk had gotten away from her, who turned Aizawa-sensei back into a teenager, was extremely apologetic to Izuku. Aizawa-sensei wasn’t exactly conscious for that whole explanation.

“It’ll last for a day or two, no more than sixty-four hours,” she said nervously. “She got my spouse last month and they were back to normal in as little as twelve. We’re still trying to figure out the differentials.”

“It’s fine,” Izuku said, putting on his brightest Deku smile. “Accidents happen, right? At least she’s not breaking her bones on national television.”

“What?” the mother said.

“What?” Izuku said. “Excuse me, ma’am.”

Aizawa-sensei at age sixteen was, weirdly, a little bit cherubic? There was a fullness to his cheeks that Izuku had never seen on the grown-up version of the man. His hair was shorter as well, falling to his chin, and, clearly, he didn’t have a growth spurt yet. So, the black sweater he was wearing pooled around his hands, giving him sweater paws.

He was nodding as Tsukauchi spoke to him. Aizawa-sensei didn’t look scared, just a bit bored with the whole affair.

It was that kind of disaffected youth vibe that was, like, so effortlessly cool but Izuku could never emulate it. He could definitely appreciate it in others though: Tokoyami and the like.

The detective looked up at Izuku with a tired smile, “Hey Midoriya-kun. You all right?”

“Yes sir,” he said with a nod.

It was strange, he thought, looking into Aizawa-sensei’s eyes and not seeing a spark of recognition in them.

“The mother said it could last as long as sixty-four hours or as little as twelve,” he shared, tearing his eyes away from his teenage teacher.

“Well, either way, it will be best served back at UA,” he rubbed his neck as he looked at Aizawa-sensei. “That alright with you? We could try to call your family.”

“It’s illogical to do so when it’s going to take so little time for me to turn back to my proper age, apparently,” the voice was similar. Izuku could find himself relaxing at the sound and cadence.

“Well alright then,” Tsukauchi agreed, trying not to smile but Izuku could tell he was amused. “Midoriya, since you have your provisional license. Please just escort Aizawa back to UA. Nedzu has been appraised on the situation.”

Awesome.

Time for the most awkward five-minute walk in the world.

“So you’re a hero student?” Aizawa-sensei asked, eyeing Izuku.

“Yes! Um I am. A-Are you?”

“Nedzu-sensei said next year because I won the Sports Festival.”

“Yes! You were super cool!”

This was familiar ground for Izuku. He had seen Aizawa-sensei’s Sports Festival several times. If you knew the right places on the internet to look or knew the right people (and were able to convince them you weren’t a villain), then you could easily get access to old UA Sports Festivals.

Aizawa-sensei was amazing during his to little Izuku. He probably watched that almost as much as All Might’s debut. Because, well, it was the closest thing he saw to someone close to him. Aizawa-sensei’s quirk wasn’t combat-focused. It just made it so he could use quirkless combat to take out an opponent.

It was amazing to him.

“You’ve seen it?”

Izuku nodded and smiled shyly, “My quirk didn’t come until super late. So, well, everyone thought I was quirkless. But…seeing you? At your Sports Festival? It really gave me hope. T-That maybe I could be a hero if I just tried hard enough. I-If that’s not creepy or anything! I…”

“Midoriya right?” Aizawa-sensei cut in.

“Y-Yes?” Izuku squeaked.

The teenage version of his teacher smiled, a small thing.

“Thanks for the support.”

Izuku blushed, “A-Anytime!”

If Aizawa-sensei remembered this, then Izuku was never going to live it down.

Like ever.

Thankfully, Aizawa-sensei was collected by Mic-sensei and Midnight-sensei at the front gate, much to his horror.

“Oh God,” Izuku heard him muttered in vague horror. “I never get rid of them.”

Izuku was sent off to the dorms after being sworn to secrecy by the other teachers. The story that was told to the other students was that Aizawa-sensei was sleeping. Given how exhausted their teacher looked most days, 1-A pretty much assumed that Aizawa-sensei had passed out from sheer exhaustion and was being sat on by Recovery Girl until he caught up on his sleep debt.

(Two days later, when Aizawa-sensei returned to class at the correct age. He made Izuku stay after class with a slight flush on his face.

“Thank you for keeping quiet about what happened, Midoriya,” he said.

Izuku merely smiled, and then his teacher went in for the kill.

“Exactly how late did your quirk come in?”

Fuck.)
