Work Text:
“I just ran the addresses from the drug dealers, all three of the girls live on campus,” Jin told the unit. They were all gathered around in the bullpen.
“Let’s roll then,” Antonio immediately stood up from behind his desk and walked towards the garage, Al and Ruzek followed him on his heels. Jay scrunched a small paper with notes he had written up to a ball and threw it teasingly at Erin as he walked past her to his desk to grab his jacket. She slapped his arm in return. Jay snickered. It was nice, to have a female friend. He didn’t have any female friends, well Allie, sort of, but she was also his ex, so he found it always a bit awkward to be around her. Just as Jay was about to grab his jacket, Voight stepped in front of him. Blocking his path.
“You like working in this unit, you keep it in your pants,” the Sargeant warned. Jay frowned confused. He only threw a ball of paper, did the man think he was flirting?
“I didn’t know it was out,” he quipped automatically. Sarcasm was his best defense mechanism. Jay rubbed one hand against his chest, feeling the slight burn of the fresh hickey Mouse had sucked into his skin that morning. They had both woken up early and decided to make the most of their time. Voight didn’t look impressed at his sense of humor.
“Erin’s of limits,” he said. It sounded like an order. Voight nodded once, he was done with this conversation. He had said what he wanted to say, he pushed past the young detective and walked towards the stairs leading to the garage when Halstead’s voice stopped him.
“I don’t think my boyfriend would appreciate me cheating on him with the first pretty woman I come across,” Jay blurted out when he saw that Voight was leaving. Immediately after he had said that he wanted to sink into the floor and die of embarrassment. That was absolutely not how he had planned to come out. Not that he really had a plan, Jay just knew that this wasn’t it. What the heck was he thinking? Voight turned around again, Jay felt how his cheeks grew hot under his boss’s unwavering stare.
“Right, I’m leaving now,” he announced. He didn’t feel like talking any more about this, especially not with his boss. With an awkward nod the detective turned on his heels and quickly walked away. “My gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh,” he muttered under his breath. Jay suddenly felt the urge to bash his head against the wall, he resisted, only barely. He pushed the door to the garage open with a little more force than necessary and stepped into Lindsay’s car.
“You okay?” Erin asked when she noticed the deep frown on his face. Jay nodded and fastened his seatbelt.
“Yep, I’m dandy,” he said short. Erin hummed disbelievingly but didn’t ask further. Voight and Jay never brought the topic up again.

“Hey,” Jay called out when he opened the door to his and Mouses’ apartment. He toed his shoes off and hung his coat on the rack.
“Hi,” Mouse greeted back, he was sitting on the couch with his laptop on his lap. Two tablets stood in front of him on the coffee table, they seemed to be running some kind of code. Jay plopped down next to him, gave his boyfriend a short kiss on his lips and rested his head on Mouses’ shoulder.
“Good day?” Mouse informed. Jay hummed and then groaned.
“I accidentally came out to Voight today,” he said. Mouse grimaced sympathetically. He had heard a thing or two from Jay about his boss, and of course Mouse had done his own slightly illegal background check on the Sargeant. Not that Jay knew that. The man was old school and Jay wasn’t sure where the man stood with people being gay or bi and dating their own gender.
“How did that go?” Mouse informed. Jay thought about that for a second. Voight hadn’t kicked him out of his unit yet and he didn’t seem disgusted when Jay said that he had a boyfriend, the Sargeant just looked surprised. Neutral even.
“Good, I think,” Jay shrugged. “I’m not sure.”
“We’ll see, it’ll be fine,” Mouse reassured him.
“I hope so,” Jay sighed. Mouse patted his arm and pressed a quick kiss against Jay’s hair. “How do you accidentally come out to someone?”
“Ugh,” Jay groaned. “I threw a ball of paper at Lindsay, she slapped my arm like in a teasing way, you know? Apperantly it looked like flirting and Voight stood there all intimidating and stuff. He said that I should keep it in my pants if I liked working in his unit. I said sarcastically that I didn’t know it was out.” Mouse snickered. “Then Voight said that Erin’s off limits and he walked away. I just blurted it out, I have no idea why I said that, but I said: I don’t think my boyfriend would appreciate me cheating on him with the first pretty woman I come across.” Mouse threw him an incredulous look and burst out in laughter. Jay pouted which caused Mouse to laugh even harder.
“Gre-heg,” Jay whined. “Stop laughing.” But Jay couldn’t suppress a small smile of his own. It was nice, to just laugh with each other. Now that he heard himself explain what happened he could admit that it sounded kind of funny. Not that he’d ever admit that.
“You’re adorable, you know that?” Mouse grinned. Jay scrunched his nose. He wasn’t adorable! He was a detective, a ranger, a bad-ass sniper. Mouse rolled his eyes like he could read Jay’s thoughts, he probably could. “Yeah, yeah, you’re a tough guy, blah, blah. You’re still adorable though.” Mouse pressed a kiss against Jay’s scrunched up nose, then both his cheeks and his forehead. Jay made an impatient noise and pulled Mouse forcefully in for a deep kiss, they both moaned, hands wandering and exploring. Just as Jay’s hand were about to go below Mouse’s waist, they were interrupted by a knock on the door. Jay sighed and rested his forehead against his boyfriend’s, both out of breath and panting from the arousal running through their bodies.
“You expecting someone?” he informed. Mouse nodded.
“Deep dish,” he pressed a quick peck against Jay’s lips before he stood up and walked towards the door.
“We’ll continue this later,” Jay called after him as he too stood up, planning to grab some cutlery from the kitchen.
“Damn right we are,” Mouse laughed. Making out with Jay was one of his favorite things to do in his spare time. He wasn’t planning on giving it up any time soon, quite the opposite actually. He just didn’t know yet how to tell Jay that he wouldn’t mind spending the rest of their lives together.
