Happiness Hit Him, Like a Train on a Track

Summary:

Tim Drake is unbelievably happy, which makes his boyfriends unbelievably happy.

Work Text:

Connor Kent stared unblinking at the twelve-year-old boy who was now fast asleep in the guest room at his apartment. Tim had already given him an exasperated look before telling both Connor and Bart that he would fill them in later. Then they had proceeded to watch the Princess Bride with the Demon Brat who then stayed over for dinner and chatted awkwardly with Connor, Bart, and Tim who was giving the demon a charmed, slightly amused look the entire time.

His mind was a bit blown, not quite sure what to do or how to react to pretty much anything that was currently happening. The bonding time that Tim had with his siblings was nice and Tim was coming home happy each time he went out with one of them or each time he came back from a family dinner or game night. It was nice to see honestly.

He knew that Tim was happy with how things were going before. Could tell that he was content with his life with Bart and Connor, that he had accepted that he would only get to see Alfred and Bruce when they came over. But he knew that there was a part of Tim that would always miss the relationships he could have had with his siblings.

“He’s asleep in our house,” Bart whispered, moving to stand beside Connor. “They’re cuddling.”

Indeed they were. Tim was curled up on the guest bed with Damian asleep beside him, his head resting on Tim’s chest. If Connor didn’t know any better, he would think the scene in front of him was adorable.

“I’m glad he’s happy,” Connor finally said with a quiet laugh. Bart sped up to Tim and pressed a soft kiss on the corner of their boyfriend’s lip before he ran his fingers through Tim’s hair, kissed him again and sped back.

“But it’s fuckin’ weird,” Bart breathed as Connor went over and gave Tim a soft kiss to his lips and pulled the blankets up just a little higher before shutting off the television that was playing some animal documentary and left the room, shutting the door behind him.

“Really fucking weird,” he agreed as the two went to their own room and started to get ready for bed.

“Dick called me yesterday,” Bart told him as they both climbed into the Alaskan king sized bed that Tim insisted that they get. According to him, as much as he loved his two boyfriends, that didn’t mean he wanted to be crammed into a bed like a pack of sardines.  The bed gave each of them just enough space for nights they didn’t particularly want to cuddle. Which was rare, most nights were spent with one of them smushed into the middle with the other two wrapped around them like pretzels.

Connor arched an eyebrow as he moved to rest his head on Bart’s bicep. “Oh? What did he want–wait how did he get your number?”

Bart made a face. “Wally gave it to him,” he said as Connor pulled the blankets around him. “He said something in his stupid nice cop voice that he uses and was like “I know we got off on the wrong foot but I want to fix things. You make Tim happy and I don’t want him to feel like we can’t get along.” Then he invited me to get lunch with him!” Bart exclaimed. “He also told me that you were going to get a call from him too. But I just couldn’t believe it!”

The kryptonian snorted. “Jason fucking Todd said hi to me yesterday,” Connor admitted before launching into a story about how he had gone to the grocery store to grab things for dinner and ran into Alfred. The two had stopped to talk for a few minutes before Jason showed up to drop things into Alfred’s shopping car before he froze and stared at Connor for a few seconds like a deer in the headlights before he seemed to shake out of it and just greeted Connor and made small talk with him.

“It’s weird,” Bart said, crinkling his nose a bit as he thought about it all.

“It’s weird. Now we have the Demon Brat cuddling our boyfriend in the guest room,” Connor agreed with a sigh before he turned to face his boyfriend. “But we’re happy for him and we’re going to support him.”

“Of course,” Bart exclaimed. “We’re the best boyfriends in the world and if Tim wants us to get along with his brothers, then we’re going to get along with his brothers.”

Connor grinned and gave Bart a quick, chaste kiss. “Hell yeah we are,” he said and Bart let out a laugh before he tackled Connor to the bed and kissed him senseless, his fingers twined up in his hair.

“Tomorrow night, though, we’re going to give Rob so much shit for abandoning us for his brother,” Bart said with a laugh. “I’m so tired of not having him in my bed every night. We gotta remind him that we have needs,” he said with a pout as he straddled Connor’s hips.

Kon snorted. “Babe, he’s been sleeping in here with us every night since he got back from the manor. Tonight was the first night in like a month he hasn’t slept with us.”

Bart pouted, pushing his bottom lip out as he did. “But it’s still too soon. I have to have my Timmy Two Shoes cuddles every single night or else I’ll die.”

“I see how it is,” Connor said with a dramatic sigh as he threw his head back into the plush pillows. “I’m not good enough for you now. You only need Tim, you don’t need me anymore.”

The speedster let out a scoff and smacked Connor in the chest lightly. “You’re a dumbass Connor Kent. I love both of you equally. It’s just,” he trailed off and Connor gave him a knowing smile.

“We’re a three piece set. It’s like missing a limb without Tim being around,” he said gently and Bart nodded his head quickly.

“It is! You guys and Cassie are like extensions of me and I already have to go months at a time without Cassie around now that her and Cissie are dating,” he said with a huff.

“The ultimate betrayal,” Connor agreed, nodding sagely as he listened to his boyfriend whine about the core four being so far apart. He eventually, though, rolled his eyes and used his TTK to get Bart off of him and back in bed under the covers. “Bart, my love, I’m exhausted.”

Bart let out a groan and threw his head back into the pillows. “Everyone hates me,” he said with a sigh as Connor lazily threw an arm around Bart’s waist and pulled him close. Eventually the speedster melted into his grip and fell fast asleep.

As soon as Bruce had picked up the Demon Brat both men turned to face their boyfriend who was distracted cleaning up the living room.

“That was weird,” Connor finally declared, watching as Tim folded up a blanket. Tim looked up at him and Connor all but melted at the small, content smile that graced Tim’s face.

“I know, but it was the best thing ever,” he whispered and all the teasing that Connor was prepared to do was gone in an instant. He had never seen such a soft, happy smile on Tim’s face before. At least, not when it wasn’t directed at Bart or Connor when they did something stupid, that is.

It was his, I’m incredibly happy, fond smile. The smile he gave when his heart was light and he was so incredibly at peace. It was his “life is good” smile and he was smiling because of Damian Wayne of all fucking people.

“We had a lot of fun yesterday,” Tim finally said as he rested the folded blanket on the back of the couch and started towards the kitchen to start the dishes after having a big breakfast with the younger boy. “We went to the art museum and Damian was so sweet, he was just info dumping about every single piece and all of the techniques used. It was just so fun and then we went and we got ice cream and we had a heart to heart,” he said with a wide smile. “He even said that he looked up to me. Me.”

Bart sped over and wrapped his arms around Tim’s waist and spun him around a few times. “Why wouldn’t he look up to you? You’re smart and beautiful and you’re so talented,” he said before peppering Tim’s face with kisses.

The vigilante laughed and tucked his face in the crook of Bart’s neck, shielding him from the onslaught of kisses.

“Stop it,” he laughed, pinching the speedster’s side. Connor couldn’t help but laugh as he made his way over and pressed a kiss to the top of Tim’s head.

“I’m really happy for you, Tim. You deserve to have all of this,” he said softly, combing his fingers through Tim’s hair as Bart continued to hold him tight.

“Then we had that evening and it was so much fun and then we had dinner and went on patrols and then came back and watched movies and I just love that kid and he’s so awkward and he kept fumbling around trying to not hurt my feelings and it was just so sweet,” he said with a wide smile as Bart set him back to the ground.

“I’m so happy for you, Timmy,” Bart said softly, cupping Tim’s face in his hands and pressed one more kiss to the man’s lips.

“I am too, you look like you’ve had a really nice time ever since they started reconciling with you,” he told him earnestly. Tim gave him a bright smile.

“You have no idea,” he breathed before he leaned on his tip toes and pressed a kiss to Connor’s mouth. “Thanks for putting up with all of the weirdness. I know it’s not been fun for you guys but I appreciate it so much. I love you two more than you know,” he said.

Connor’s breath was taken away as he took in his boyfriend, giving him that shy, happy smile of his as he stood there in one of Connor’s t-shirts and Bart’s sweats, his hair still messy from sleep. He knew, he had known since the moment he met Tim Drake, but he was reminded then and there that he would do anything for this man if it meant he would look at Connor like he was right now.

He would destroy worlds, he would fight Lex Luthor single handedly, he would expose his secret to the world. Hell, he would go to have lunch with Dick fucking Grayson if it meant that Tim would continue to smile at him. Judging from the look on Bart’s face, he knew that he was in the same boat.

“Of course Tim, we love you,” Connor said with a soft smile of his own. “We just want to see you happy.”

“And you are happy, right?” Bart asked, chewing his bottom lip as he looked over Tim curiously.

Tim let out a soft laugh. “I have never been so happy in my entire life,” he said honestly.
