“This is literally normal, Luce.” Kate replied.
“Yeah, normal for you. For me, it’s driving me fucking insane.” Lucy said while she clunks the end of her spoon in the chains on Kate’s side.
“You’re such a lesbian.” They both laughed when Kate said that.
“Well, you are too. Stop looking at me like that.” Lucy said, while Kate hummed and tilted her head, giving a challenging look towards Lucy.
“Looking at you like what?” Kate’s jaw clenched, as she put her free hand on the counter to slightly leaned on her side, not breaking the gaze with Lucy as she puts another peach in her mouth, maybe she was putting on a show for her girlfriend.
Lucy thought her knees were going to give up on her when she watched Kate. She tried so hard not to let out a sound when she said, “can I try some of your peach?” Kate looked at Lucy puzzled, but she took a piece from her bowl and handed it over. However, Lucy had something else in mind, she took a few steps towards Kate and put her hand below the blonde’s jaw, then slowly pulled her down. Their lips met, they could taste the sweetness of the peach and the nutty taste of the peanut butter in their connected mouths. “Are you coming?” Lucy crossed her hands and looked at speechless Kate sitting on the countertop, who only watched her do things.
“Lucy!” Kate exclaimed, as Lucy just laughed at her flushed girlfriend. They will absolutely not be staying for a long time in that dive bar later.

“Stop clenching your jaw and loosen your grip on that can of club soda before it explodes.” Kate felt herself slightly jump from the teasing voice that came from Jane.
Kate cleared her throat. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, actually.”
“Yeah?” Jane raised an eyebrow and pointed to Lucy and Kai’s pool game.
“She thinks it’s amusing.” Kate shook her head and tried not to watch as Lucy flawlessly shot a ball into a pocket.
“Well, it is. You’re doing it again.” Jane laughed and took a sip from her drink as Kate clenched her jaw again.
Kate put both of her feet on the support below the stool next to her and drank her club soda. Kate was the designated driver between her and Lucy, so she couldn’t drink. “I just want to pull her away and take her back home right now, hell, we barely even left our apartment earlier.”
“Okay, now, I do not want to imagine any of that.” Jane chuckled and put her hands up, stopping whatever may come out of Kate’s mouth that she wouldn’t want to know of. “Lucy loves the game, just give her some time, I’m sure she feels the same way.”
“If she does, she’s winning.” Kate had a vice grip on the stool she was sitting on as Lucy winked in her direction, successfully winning the game, again. Kate continued watching her girlfriend who drank from her cup of choice, some of it started dripping down her neck and Kate felt a squeeze on her shoulder.
“Good luck with that one.” Jane only snorted as she watched the game between Kate and Lucy play out, they’d seen this side of them before, but this time round, Kate was losing, terribly. Jane made her way towards Jesse and Ernie who was playing darts on the other side of the bar and slipped 20$ on Jesse’s hand, which Kate was oblivious of what it was for.
Groaning, Kate turned her body towards the bartender and almost ordered an alcoholic beverage to take the edge off she was already suffering from because of her girlfriend.
“You know, you could order one if you want, we can just get the car tomorrow.”
Kate shivered because the way Lucy whispered those words in her ear was too low and too close for safety. “What do you think you're doing?” Kate shook her head as Lucy reached for her club soda and drank it.
“I’m just saying, if you want to drink, you could order a real one.” Lucy shrugged and smirked at Kate who put her left forearm on the bar and pulled Lucy by the loop of her jeans.
Lucy’s hairlocks were guarding Kate’s view from the rest of the people’s eyesight. So, Kate leaned closer on Lucy’s earshot. The raspiness in Kate’s voice was heavier than usual. “What I want right now is to drink you instead of any beverage this bar has to offer, but we wouldn’t want the team to witness me tongue and knuckles deep inside you while you scream my name, don’t we?”
Kate was so close to Lucy, that she heard her girlfriend’s nervous gulp. She left a kiss on Lucy’s neck before she tried to pull away, but Kate felt a hand slowly make its way onto her lap and she felt a tug on the carabiner chained to her jeans. “Take me home, Kate.”
“Alright, give them back to me boys!” They heard Jane laughing at Jesse and Ernie who were displeased by the turn of events.
“You just couldn’t hold on for another minute, Luce?” Ernie shook her head towards their direction and chuckled at his best friend who looked at him confused.
“Just get out of here, you two. We’re done, anyways.” Jesse scratched the back of his head and gave his twenty to Tennant.
Kai looked on both sides from Kate and Lucy who looked so flushed, to the rest of the team. “What is happening?”
“Nothing buddy, you did your part.” Jane put a shoulder on Kai.
“What part?” Kai confusedly asked anyone who could give him a direct answer.
“Lose to Lucy in your games.” Ernie chimed in.
“Lucy was good at it! I did not purposely lose to her.” Kai argued.
“Exactly, that was why you were the bait. You’re just very bad at pool.” Jesse patted Kai’s shoulder.
Kate and Lucy watched as the bickering between their friends played out. Of course, they bet on them on who’s going to crack first.
“Jane bet on you?” Lucy whispered to Kate’s side.
To be fair, Kate wasn’t sure why too, but she had to soak it in. “Why wouldn’t she, I was literally calm and composed the entire night.” That was definitely a lie.
“The club soda was about to explode in your hand, I was watching yo-” Lucy argued, but interrupted by Kate’s mouth on hers.
“Just shut up, I’ll take you home now.” Kate purposely lingered the kiss for a moment and took Lucy’s hand with hers. They bid farewells to the rest of their friends who had a knowing look on their faces, which made both of them blush. It may seem awkward to some, but having people who support a relationship because they genuinely care was significant.
Kate looked at her watch, it was just past 10 pm in Waikiki, however, the blue light emitting from the sky gave her an idea. Lucy kept a close distance on Kate’s body as they made their way back to their car, she had to feel the heat from her girlfriend as the night was starting to get chilly, but mostly, Lucy has been spiraling in her head ever since she saw what Kate was wearing back from their apartment, Lucy all wanted was to tear Kate’s clothes out and envelope her naked body with her mouth and skin.
They made their way to the car, as Kate tried to open the door for Lucy in the passenger seat, she was pulled in for a heated kiss. “Of course, I do trust you, Kate.” Lucy said, trying to catch her breath after kissing Kate, and Lucy was absolutely losing it because of the things running in her mind that she wanted to do to Kate.
“Get in the car, everything will be fine. I promise.” Kate caressed Lucy’s cheek and kissed the back of her hands. Lucy nodded and Kate waited until Lucy’s settled on the passenger seat and made her way to the driver’s seat.
They were driving for over half an hour now, and literally off the main roads of Oahu and somewhat, far from the city. Lucy was confused about what was going on, but Kate had her free hand clasped with Lucy the entire time reassuring her that everything was fine. Kate looked at Lucy, smiling as she watched her girlfriend who was absorbed looking over the stunning blue sky above them at night. They were law enforcement, Kate knew that, but sometimes breaking the law in times like this was worth it. Kate steadily stepped on the gas. They were going at ninety in a forty-five, but it didn’t seem to bother Lucy on her side, who was still mesmerized by the sky.
Lucy pressed a button that made the window on her side go down. She looked at Kate and smiled, they didn’t need words, the look they shared was enough. Lucy knew there were barely any cars on this side of the island, so they would be safe. She carefully positioned her upper body to peak outside the window, Kate was still going around eighty to ninety, she was careful now that Lucy was trying out new things.
“This is beautiful, look at the sky!” Lucy shouted for Kate to hear who was focused on the road and because of the air hitting their direction, trifling the sounds.
Kate took a fast glance at Lucy’s direction and felt her heart skipping a beat. She smiled to herself, how did I get so lucky? Kate thought.
“You’re gorgeous!” Kate shouted back, and Lucy smiled at her. Lucy stayed there for at least a few more seconds, her hair getting in the way, but she didn’t care as it was an amazing feeling. Lucy can feel herself sobered up from the alcohol she had from the bar.
When Lucy finally gathered herself back on her seat, she reached for Kate’s hand and kissed her palm. “I love you, Kate.”
“And I love you too, Lucy.” Kate smiled to Lucy who leaned closer to her.
Kate was driving back to forty-five now as they were near their destination. Kate parked the car, far enough from the edge, it was an overview of the island, where one could see the beach of Waikiki. Lucy got out of the car immediately and went to look at the view.
“Fuck, that is art right there.” Lucy said while looking at the blue light caused by the hints of the phenomenon of Aurora enveloped the sky of Oahu. Even though it wasn’t fully an Aurora as it didn't fully reached Hawai'i, the sky still gave a blue light for the people to absolutely enjoy it.
“Oh, you definitely are.” Kate closed the door of the car and made her way to Lucy’s side.
“You’re silly, you know that right?” Lucy shook her head but felt a blush on her cheeks. She always felt that when Kate compliments her or says something that pertains to her features.
“I know, get used to it.”
“I already am.” Lucy kissed her on the cheek, longer than usual. Kate felt her eyes instinctively closed on Lucy’s lips touching her cheeks.
They leaned on the hood of the car while they watched the view in front of them. Kate has Lucy’s small frame in between her body, Lucy’s head rested on her chest. Kate’s hands wrapped around Lucy’s hips, as Lucy’s hands intertwined with hers. They stayed there for a while, enjoying each other’s presence.
If someone told Kate that she would get Lucy back, let alone be her girlfriend for a few years now, she wouldn’t dare to believe it. Kate felt Lucy was slowly slipping from her reach before, she knew Lucy was out of her league and it driven Kate into places she shouldn’t be, but as she reflected from them, it gave her the courage to shoot for another chance, which she was glad that Lucy allowed her to. Now, all Kate cared about was to make Lucy happy as she already is and with her, to take her out for more joyrides like this, for the rest of their lives, if Lucy allows her to take her hand for another chance to marriage.
