Work Text:
Dazai POV:
"Odasaku, Please! Don't talk like this, you're going to make it... Please don't leave me like everyone else." I cried, and I woke up. Hoping it was all just a nightmare. It wasn't. I shouldn't be surprised... Everything I've ever wanted is gone the moment I achieve it... That's the way it has always been for me.
...
'But I can't stop hearing him... It's like he never left, but he's angry at me... Is he not proud of me... Maybe I made him disappointed, that's why he left...' 'I didn't want to watch him die. It's all my fault I'm so sorry... I'm sorry Odasaku. I just want to be in your arms or at the bar hanging out... Moments where I didn't have to worry about anything. Where I could just be myself and not some demon...
Moments went by as minutes turned into hours which turned into days. Days of watching time go by, unable to tell what's real and what's not.
Chuuya POV:
‘After being on a mission for the past few days I was able to finish early and get extra time off. Feeling as if something was off I went to go visit the mackerel.’
Knocking on the door but getting no response I gave him a warning before breaking in.
“Dazai?”
Looking around I found him, and I couldn’t help but to feel worried. He has this sadness in his eyes that I’ve seen before, and I just knew something had happened while I was gone.
…
It took hours for me to finally calm him down and explain what happened. It made my blood boil, and I couldn’t stand him to be treated this way especially not from the boss
Lifting him up and holding him in my lap I hugged him. Hoping he’ll feel comforted
“I’m here for you… Whenever you’re ready, I will always be waiting patiently for you no matter how long it takes.” Turning his head so he could see me , “Do you hear me Dazai? I would run to you if you ever need me. No matter if I was on the other side of the world. I would catch the nearest flight if you tell me I need you. I’ll always show you I care, and if you ever think about giving up at least make it fair… Let me know, and give me a chance to convince you not too… Because I need you around more than I’d like to admit, and I would break down if you aren’t here.”
…
“I think we should leave… You know. Leave the Mafia, and make our own path without being under someone’s control… We could go wherever.” Smile softly at Dazai. Glad he’s no longer in the state of mind he was in, “Remember when we first met? I was still friends with the Sheeps until they stabbed me in the back and betrayed me… I used to hate you a lot for the way you made things happen and forced me into the mafia, but I’m glad it happened because I met you. Even if I didn't, I'm still glad because I learned that they never trusted me anyways… They 're just using me for my ability. I lost a lot of friends and I cried a lot. I needed someone to remind me and make me feel human… You helped me during my time of need, and now I'm here for you. Don’t you try to say you’re fine because I know you’re not… Just rest here with me. You can use my shoulder… Just relax and calm down. We can handle this later when it’s the right time.”
And so they both fell asleep both in the comfort of each other’s arms despite the coldness and gloomy atmosphere the container provided.
