Work Text:
The second sip of Andy’s coffee was much better than her first. The first had coated her tongue with liquid so hot she’d been forced to spit it into the grass. It had left her poor tongue burnt on all sides, and being mortal meant it wasn’t healing in a matter of seconds the way it would have half a year ago.
Nile, new enough to rapid healing that she still respected the sight of a steaming hot drink, hadn’t sipped from her cup at all. Instead focusing all her attention on Joe and Nicky.
“Should we go over there?” She asked
Across the street amidst the booths and tables of the farmer’s market, Joe had been examining the same bushel of lavender for going on 15 minutes as Nicky hovered around him like a worried bumblebee.
“Why? They’re fine,” Andy said. “Did you grab any more sugar packets?”
“Five wasn’t enough for you?” Nile asked.
“No. Hand it over,” Andy said.
Nile dug one out of her pocket, but held it just out of Andy’s reach.
“When you go to the dentist, and she tells you about all the cavities marching through your teeth like Sherman through Atlanta, I want you to remember that I gave you shit for this,” Nile said solemnly. “I tried to save you. Through shame.”
Andy darted forward, looped her arm around Nile’s waist, and pulled her close. She landed a loud, wet kiss on the other woman’s cheek and another on her temple.
She gave her ear a playful nip, which made Nile elbow her but not move away, before plucking the sugar packet out of her hand.
“My brave hero,” Andy whispered, her voice pitched low and her tone as filthy as she could make it at 7:30 am on a Sunday. Which was admittedly, pretty filthy.
Across the way Joe turned to ask something of the woman behind the booth. A sprig of lavender has found its way into his curls. Probably thanks to Nicky.
Nile burrowed her way into Andy’s side and cuddled close.
“I am very heroic,” she agreed, as her hand slipped into Andy’s jacket where she began tracing slow circles around Andy’s nipple.
Andy gave her a bright wolfish smile. Her teeth glinting in the sun.
