Chapter Text
September 15, 1982
Dear Tia,
You probably don't care so much if I write you this year, after all, you've started college too, but I don't think it's going to be possible to get you on the phone and if it was... Well, privacy.
Nothing's wrong, firstly. Nothing to worry about. I think I found a Searcher.
Adam and I were hanging out by the union, talking about our math class when I saw a group of freshmen walk by and giggle. I looked up and glared--and my eyes were drawn to a square of gold metal with twin stars on it.
For a second there Mommy and Daddy Malone had just died and I was 12 years old again. I must've turned pale or something because Adam asked me, "Are you ok?"
I blinked, cleared my head and got it back to the present. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just... Someone walked over my grave I guess."
Adam scrunched his face up. "If you say so, Malone."
Of course, by the time we'd finished, the owner of the star case had disappeared. And, worse, I didn't get a good look at her face. I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled though.
So how are things up in Davis? You settling in okay?
Love,
Tony
