Summary:

In an desperate attempt to save her Mentor, Luz finds just what she needs for a cure, but she’s gonna need to get past a Thai-American girl to get it.

Notes:

This work isn’t mine and wasn’t made or written by me (aside from the re-formatting and addition of quotation marks and letters).

This was written by “G1 Death Battle Fan Blogs”, I simply wanted to post this here since I couldn’t find anything similar on AO3 and the script is so good that I felt more people should know about this.

Link to the creator(s)(?): http://g1dbteamblogs.blogspot.com/?m=1

Link to the Death Battle script where I got this from (seriously go check it out since Luz vs Anne is definitely gonna happen some day): http://g1dbteamblogs.blogspot.com/2023/06/death-battle-predictions-luz-vs-anne.html?m=1

Again, This is NOT written by me.

Work Text:

In between the vastness of the treelines, a small line is seen from the distance as it zooms past, Luz Noceda darting across as she anxiously pants.

“Come on! The book said it had to be somewhere! If I don’t find it soon, Eda’s curse could-”

Before she could finish talking to herself, a bright light engulfed her senses as she was forced to put Stringbean, her palisman, to a screeching halt before she crashed somewhere. She looked down as another teenage girl, Anne Boonchuy, slowly stood up from the group, her mind spinning.

“Some days you just love to screw me over, huh, Calamity Box?” Luz gasps in surprise.

“Another human...”

Luz analyzed Anne’s strange appearance. Luz saw that she was wearing some type of dirty school uniform with a chestplate, having a symbol she didn’t recognize. She also noticed that Anne had one shoe missing, a backpack, a sword, and sticks & leaves in her hair! Luz would then think.

(So cool! She looks just like one of those guys from Vagabondia-) But after that thought she would finally notice Anne carrying another object, one that Luz slowly recognized.

“Wait, is that…”

Anne turns as a voice calls to her, shocked at the presence of someone like her as she picks up her backpack and puts it back.

“Hey, uhh..you wouldn’t know where this is right?”

“Oh! Well, this is the Demon Realm- Wait! I’m getting off track, listen! Is that... the Calamity Box, right?”

The look on Anne’s face as she instinctively puts the backpack closer to herself tells Luz everything she needs to know.

“I heard about that Box! It says it’s able to cure people! I just need to borrow it for a bit, please!”

“Heard about that box- I barely know you, girl! How am I going to know you aren’t just going to, like, use it for some dark ritual or something?”

Luz looks at Anne for a moment, then down towards the ground. Normally she would just try to talk this through for a bit longer, but time wasn’t something she had on her. She needs this, as much as it pains her. Luz looks back up towards Anne and says;

“...I...won’t. I promise.”

As Luz would then, with an open palm, activate a Light Glyph towards Anne, blinding her! Anne reacts by covering her eyes and shouting.

“What the!?-”

As Luz would continue to press her assault by flying closer on her palisman, and placing a Plant Glyph on the ground that summons a huge pair of vines heading straight towards Anne. Just a small distraction, just enough to get that Box and make a B-Line straight back home, Luz thinks.

Anne recovers from being blinded only to see the vines sprout from the ground and darting at her at a rapid speed, Anne slices through each of the vines before they could even touch her, and with a vertical motion, she slices clean through the biggest one. Much to the visible shock of Luz as Anne didn’t seem that physically capable to her at first glance. Anne would then give a confident look then smirk to a Luz floating in the sky on her palisman, more than a few feet away from her.

“You are not going to take it away from me as easily as that, sister!”

Luz regains her facial composure and steels herself with a response.

“...Fine...hard way it is then!”

But before Luz could cast another Glyph, Anne takes out a Tennis Racket in one hand, and a strange pink sphere in the other, aka her Bath Bomb. Anne serves the bath bomb and hits it towards Luz in the air. Luz dodges the bomb but is caught off guard by the explosion that happens next to her, knocking her off her palisman, as she falls from the sky, Anne rapidly approaching. Luz uses a Safety Hover Glyph that stops her before she hits the ground then immediately applies a Mist Glyph which causes Anne to miss her target with the swing of her Tennis Racket.

“Oh come on!”

Anne now with her sight of Luz lost, holds her tennis racket on guard as she cautiously wanders through the mist, soon Anne unknowingly steps on a Glyph that flashes red, immediately catching her attention. As she takes her foot off the Glyph quickly to see a giant monster arm with sharp claws try and swipe at her, this was the Monster Arm Glyph.

“Ah!”

Anne then swings her Tennis Racket, easily sending the monster arm away into a weird mush. The mist would then disappear as Anne turns around and sees that Luz found her Palisman. Quickly, Luz casts an Ice Glyph, as a chill is felt in the air, massive walls of ice beginning to encircle Anne. She puts away her tennis racket and pulls out her sword again, slowly trying to push out of the circle while also watching her step and avoid getting stuck.

“Getting real sick of this! Ah!-”

As Anne is tripped by a chunk of ice grabbing her foot, landing face first on the ground as the rest of the ice takes the opportunity to attempt to restrain Anne. Luz approaches, looking a bit tired of the whole ordeal.

“It’s over, just give me the Box and I’ll go on my way.”

Anne looks up towards Luz, feeling this whole situation a bit familiar and responds defiantly.

“As if!”

Anne’s eyes quickly flash blue as she rips herself away from the ice out of sheer strength. Luz sees Anne’s eyes flash, and is left a little startled at Anne’s sheer physical strength hinted by those foreign glowing blue eyes that give Luz a form of dread, a brief memory of an enemy best forgotten.

“She definitely isn’t normal...could it be the Box? What else can that thing do!?”

“Why don’t you come over here and find out.”

As Anne points her sword at Luz. Luz somewhat feels the need to dash in and test this out herself, but she doesn’t have the room to mess around.

“Not until I figure this out!”

Luz tries another spell on Anne, the Fire Glyph. As a large belt of fire is launched at Anne in a stream. But to Luz’s surprise the spell is intercepted and caught in a power struggle with something. Is it a spell? No that can’t be right, Luz hasn’t seen Anne use any type of magic, even the Glyphs. Luz peeks over to see Anne laughing like a maniac, as she holds a bug spouting flames, Anne’s Flamethrower.

“She’s really!?-”

“FIGHTING FIRE WITH FIIIIIIRRRRRRRREEEEE!”

As Anne yells out her response akin to some kind of war cry. Both Luz’s spell and Anne’s Flamethrower run out of juice. Anne throws away her Flamethrower, re-equipping her sword, and makes a mad dash towards Luz. Luz scrambles to find another Glyph to use but has to switch her attention over to defending herself with her palismen from Anne’s sword strike, the steel hits the wood as it makes a small dent in it. For a second, Anne swears to hear an animal cry of sorts. The thought doesn’t last long as Anne easily disarms Luz. Luz quickly brings out a Snaggleback Shell to defend herself, as Anne releases a relentless amount of punishment on the shell, Luz almost buckling from the force.

“Give! It! Up! You ain’t getting the Box from me!”

“I can’t come back empty handed! Also, a small tip for you since you aren’t from around here. Don’t watch the mouth, watch the hands.”

“Don’t watch the wha-”

Anne catches a small glimpse of a paper glyph in Luz’s hand, as all of the sudden Luz turns invisible in front of a shocked Anne, the Snaggleback Shell dropping to the ground, Luz just used the Invisibility Glyph on herself. Anne, now having lost sight of her opponent again after how long it took for her to get this close, is reasonably frustrated, commenting.

“You can turn invisible now!? Sure, like keeping an eye on you wasn’t already a big pain in the butt!”

Anne is almost cut short as from behind her a bottle with a blue liquid inside, as well a snowflake symbol on the outside, floats in mid air and is tossed at Anne. Anne is completely frozen solid in a block of ice, from her feet to her neck. Anne was hit with the Ice Potion. The only part of her body that wasn’t frozen other than her head was her backpack that is being opened, the Calamity Box is grabbed, turning invisible too. Luz’s invisibility goes away as she’s revealed to be far away in front of Anne. Anne’s face turns into one of complete dismay seeing Luz with the box, her way home!

“Finally, okay, I’ll take this to Eda and come back and get you out. I would try to bring you along but uhh, I don’t think you can right now.”
As Luz turns around, and hop on her palisman to fly away, leaving Anne as a human popsicle. Catching a quick glimpse at the Box as Stringbean begins to ascend, she notices the stones that came with the box are now missing, meaning, they’re still with…

But this train of thought is cut off by Anne shouting.

“GIVE IT BACK!”

As the color of Anne’s eyes changes blue, her hair now shares the same color as it also begins to grow sticks and colorful leaves, this was Super Anne. Shattering the ice block she was encased in merely from powering up, Luz turns around and notices the transformation, and is stunned.

“WOAH! WHAT THE!?-”

Luz says, startled even as she out of pure instinct and slight fear for what she’s awakened, smacks Two Light Glyphs together that form into an energy beam that heads straight towards this new Anne, to simply defend herself from whatever calamity may come from this transformation. But in a flash, faster than anything Luz could’ve perceived, Anne drops her sword onto the ground then takes out her tennis racket and swings it at the light beam attack, sending it back at Luz at imperceptible speeds to her. The attack hits Luz, the dust clears to reveal nothing left of her except many small spheres of light. Anne looked over, completely shocked, her hair returning to an oak like brown, dropping her now broken tennis racket as she tried to approach the area where she just redirected the blast.

“No, no, no! I didn’t mean to… I’m so sorry….”

But Anne is cut short as her ears immediately notice the slightest hint of a voice in the sky. Anne doesn’t not know where it comes from but one quote stands particularly clear.

“...Go Luz, save her...save the one who my son calls…mother...”

The girl doesn’t have time to process those words as a purple beam of energy shoots upwards near her, lifting a thick veil of smoke as it did. Anne looks forward as a figure stands, her body with wolf-like features and sharp claws and her face covered by a giant witch’s hat. Luz has been granted the power of her Titan form.

“You have just made a grave mistake… For I am the Good Witch Luz!”

Glyphs form around her body as she prepares her next attack.

“Child of the Human Realm! Student of the Demon Realm!”

Luz exclaims as she would ecstatically fly around with her Palisman forming a purple ring. Anne barely has enough time to react to what was about to happen, as her aura begins glowing again, returning back to her Super form.

“And Warrior of Peace!” Luz shouts before holding her palisman up in the air, as it suddenly glows yellow along with everything within the purple ring, forming a Giant Light Glyph that is omnidirectionally destroying anything unfortunate enough to be caught in its path. As this attack heads straight towards Anne, Anne forms a shockwave to try and dissipate some of the energy, but it’s too late as she is thrown miles and miles away from where she stood.

As Anne tries to recover, Luz approaches as she grows massive thorns around Anne and proceeds to grab her with them, smacking her around the forest, passing small hills along the way. Summoning what little strength she can muster, Anne screams as a shockwave sets her free and completely destroys the plant trap.

“This is insane! She wasn’t nearly as strong as this before! I thought she was just a witch with the cauldrons and the spooky bug potions!”

“Well… actually it’s more than that, there are like 7 more covens you can enter and you play Flyer Der- Hey wait, why am I telling you this!?”

Luz encircles herself into a massive shield, surrounding it the different glyphs seen in the isles on full display, and makes a mad dash at Anne, with intent to ram her into the ground and finish this fight. Not liking her chances, Anne tries to focus as much as she can on the stones, trying to access each of their powers in unison. She thinks about her own heart as well as her strength and wit. Using the powers in tandem, Anne’s form evolves even further, now gaining a golden and blue armor around her body while the thorns in her head grow even larger. This is Super Anne at her 100% capacity.
She closes her eyes as Luz is inches from reaching her, as a massive Tennis Racket construct forms in her hand as with all her might she pulls it forward and towards her opponent.

“SERVE, BABY!”

Anne smacks the shield upwards with great force, launching Luz further and further into the sky as the orange look of the Isles becomes replaced by the darkness of space; she has struck Luz into the stratosphere. With only one thought on Luz’s mind afterwards.

“Did you just LAUNCH ME INTO SPACE!? WITH A GIANT TENNIS RACKET!?”

“There’s more where that came from!”

Luz turns as Anne fires 3 cat-like constructs from her hands, directly homing in on her position.

“Forgive me, my sweet little babies…” In order to counterattack, Luz summons 3 giant Fire Glyphs of her own as they collide with Anne’s attack, creating a massive explosion that is seen back where the fight began. Sending both of them careening across space.
Anne readjusts herself from the attack in mid air to see Luz in hot pursuit from a distance, coming up inside some purple and yellow energy ball, before dissipating, revealing her. Anne isn’t going to just sit and watch of course as she then summons her sword from far below on the Boiling Isles as it spins, ripping through the ground, casually cleaving a horn off the Titans skull, as Luz shouts.

“Hey! Watch it! That’s my guy back there!”

But to no avail as she is ignored. The sword is finally brought into Anne’s grip at the speed of light as she then infuses it with Calamity Energy, and she soon charges towards Luz in flight, hoping to collide with her and quickly end this. Anne arrives at Luz only to be stopped by a Magic Barrier Luz casts in reaction to block Anne’s sword strike. Luz tries to perform another spell to attack Anne but fails.

“Ah! Still getting the hang of this…”

This gives Anne an opportunity to fly around the barrier and disarm Luz of her palisman again with her sword. But this time Luz is prepared as she quickly grabs Anne’s blade with her bare hands, with many Purple Glyphs surrounding them as Luz casually shatters Anne’s sword that was enveloped in her Calamity Energy. This baffles Anne, while Luz makes a side comment with a smile.

“Oops.”

“Oh, come on! That was a family heirloom! At least I think it was...”

Luz throws a punch at Anne, thinking the victory is hers, only for the complete reverse opposite to happen. As Anne not only dodges, but starts messing up Luz's entire rhythm with Muay Thai, Anne is smiling the entire time, and says as if she were Luz’s teacher.

“You’re too eager.”

“Yeah, I’ve been told that a lot!”

The onslaught of attacks and counters stung Luz, but they aren’t anything that really mattered. Luz only ends up getting annoyed that she can’t land a single hit with all the power she has over Anne. Luz then soon opts for a retreat from this hand to hand combat nonsense to reunite with her palisman, and put an end to this once and for all. As Luz flies away, Anne immediately knew what she was doing and quickly followed suit.

“Oh no you don’t-!”

But Anne stops her flight immediately at the sight of her Calamity Power flashing in and out, she’s running out of juice.

“No, no, no, no! Argh! I can’t keep doing this, even with all those hits I gave to her earlier it didn’t do squat, I’ll just tire myself out...”

Anne gives a deep sigh as she takes a look at the Calamity Gems in her hands.

“I can’t let this power fall under the wrong hands, not for Earth, Amphibia, heck, not even here...Sprig, Polly, Hop Pop, I’m sorry...” As Anne says this she clenches the three stones tightly as she then starts whispering something to them as they clasp in between her hands with tears almost about to form in her eyes. Luz reuniting with her palisman, turns around to see Anne’s hand shine multicolored bright lights, before stopping, Anne opens her palm to reveal three now colorless stones dissipating into dust, to Luz’s complete shock.

“What did you do...WHAT DID YOU DO!?”

Before Luz spoke further, Anne’s body shines brighter than even Luz’s Giant Light Glyph in a white light, to Luz’s complete astonishment! The light fades to reveal White Super Anne. Luz looks down to see the bright yellow symbol on her chest fading in and out, her time is almost up. This is Luz’s worst case scenario as she begins to panic.

“Do you have any idea what you’ve done!? This was my one shot at getting them! My only shot at saving her!
To try and make up for just SOME of what I did to them...”

Anne’s angry expression becomes more calm as Luz’s face begins to swell with tears, before balling her right hand up and placing it on top of her chest, over her heart. As she tries to speak up.

“That’s who you called Eda earlier, right?...Did she take you in here?”

“Her and her kid, King...the Demon Realm looked so weird and scary at first, but if it wasn’t for them I would have never got to where I am now. I met so many great people there, friends, family...and something more.”

“I have a home out there too, well, another home, not like back on Earth. It’s mostly all hills, swamps, giant things that try to have you for dinner...but there are also great folks, folks I’ve also called family myself. It’s a little place called Amphibia.”

As Anne says this she’s reminded of everyone she met in her journey, and her friends, family. Before raising her hand and charging her final attack towards Luz. Luz immediately pieced together what Anne meant with her words, now thinking about everything SHE went through in her journey, love, hate, sadness but ultimately understanding…

Luz with a somber but fond facial expression replies.

“Amphibia’, huh?...That sounds...sweet.”

Luz began to construct her Light Glyph Beam spell, preparing for the final clash. Anne fires her giant white ball of energy as Luz fires hers at the same time too while yelling out.

“THEN YOU KNOW WHY I CAN’T LOSE! EAT THIS SUCKA!”

“SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT, WITCH GIRL! HA!”

Both attacks collide, and struggle for a bit, Luz is sweating, getting tired, her power is fading FAST, and this attack seems like it might just be too powerful for even her. Anne is looking worse for wear as her body looks like it's being torn apart! Her body is having trouble handling this much power from the Calamity Gems' full potential. A huge explosion happens in between the two attacks, the explosion engulfs both Luz and Anne, completely clearing the skyline revealing the moon and that it's nighttime now.

(If Anne wins)
It’s quiet, then all of the sudden a flash of light appears over the top of one of the highest cliffs of the Boiling Isles, a view that spans the entire island. The flash of light goes away to reveal Anne Boonchuy, shaken but perfectly fine. Anne takes a seat near the edge of the cliff and looks up at the sky towards the moon to see many small beautiful spheres of light, almost forming a witches hat.

Anne simply sat there, the last spectacle of a witch whose heart shined with love and care as strong and bright as the spectacle above her.

Anne lays her head on the small patch of grass beneath her, a tired look in her eyes and trying to rest, but after what she just did, it’s impossible. The Hardest Thing.

(If Luz wins)
It’s quiet, then a small glimmer of a purple and yellow ball can be seen from the sky slowly descending upon the top of one of the highest cliffs of the Boiling Isles, showing the vastness of the island in its entirety. The ball dissipates to reveal Luz as her transformation finally runs out, letting The Titan free, looking at Luz with a small comforting smile. Luz takes a seat on the edge of the cliff with her palisman holding close by her side, as she looks up at the sky towards the moon to see many small slightly glowing white leaves floating away in the sky at the simple breeze of the wind. The last remains of a girl who truly blossomed into a person whose heart was as plentiful as the leaves that dissipated into the sky.

Luz simply sat there, still weeping from everything that had happened to her, trying to rest in the grass.
Watching and Dreaming.
