Work Text:
Deep underground, in caverns so old they have slept undisturbed by prying eyes for millennia, lies a treasure, greater than any you ever saw.
It contains no gold, no jewels, and yet its wealth is immeasurable.
It is a treasure of stories, legends of forgotten ages.
You whisper a greeting as you pass by your colleagues, ever hesitant to disturb the silence of these hallowed halls.
All of you are guardians of ancient knowledge, each carefully chosen by their predecessor, all following in the tradition of the lore-masters of old.
One day, you, too, will choose the one that comes after you, passing the torch on to the next generation. But not yet. For now, the duty remains yours and you fulfil it with pleasure.
