There was a loud sound coming from the ceiling, and it seemed like it was only Gojo who could hear it. Because as he looks around, everyone seems calm: Riko and Misato are talking to each other, Yaga is looking at the window, Toji seems to be wandering around, Geto looking at him calmly, and Yu and Nanami are laughing about something.
And Gojo has to take a look for a second because Nanami is smiling, always smiling since he came to the airport. Even smiling right after Gojo rumpled his hair. And something is not right because Nanami doesn’t smile that much; even before Yu’s death, Nanami doesn’t need to smile to show his happiness; that’s just the way he is.
And this Nanami is smiling. And then another loud noise startled Gojo from his thinking.
“What’s that?” Gojo asks, looking around, looking widely because the sounds seem familiar.
“What’s what?” Geto asks, looking very confused.
“The sound! Can you hear it? It’s like someone is knocking, shouting, I don’t know what, but it’s very loud! Why can’t you hear it?!”
“I think you need to calm down, Satoru. We don’t hear what you’re talking about.” Geto tries to push Gojo back to the seat, but Gojo jumps far away from them.
The loud noise is now coming near them, and its shout becoming clearer; someone is calling his name. “Gojo-san! Wake up!”
And that sounds like Nanami, the Nanami that he knows. “Nanami?”
“Yes, Gojo-senpai?” the young Nanami answers, smiling, and that rattle something inside Gojo. Because Nanami only shares his smile secretly, not like this.
“You’re not my Nanami.” Gojo states, “My Nanami won’t smile like you do. He won’t call me senpai. Who are you? Where am I?”
The fake Yaga stands up, “We are who you want us to be-”
But that was cut off when a loud knock startled them all; the sound was coming from Gojo’s back. A thick hand appeared, and a familiar polka dot tie was wrapped on it. Then, the airport disappears, and everyone fades.
The only one that remains is a very-pissed looking Nanami, fist still clenched, “Gojo-san! How dare you die in front of the children?! In front of Yuji! And Megumi, too! Go back and fix that!”
Gojo laughed because that was his Nanami. “Nanami?”
“Don’t you dare die yet, Gojo-san! I’ll keep on pushing you back to the land of the living until it’s really your time. We still need to protect the newer generation. Show them that you are strongest not because of your name but because of what you’re fighting for. We’ll be waiting for you.”
“We?” Gojo asked despite knowing his answer. And when he looked around, he saw everyone that he cared for. Geto’s there standing with his two daughters, Yu right behind Nanami, and Nanami’s looking at him, super pissed, but Gojo can see through him.
“I’m giving you permission to be late to our reunion. Now, open your eyes, Gojo-san; you have a son to rescue.”
And with that, Gojo opens his eyes. His body mending and reattaching itself. He stands and sees Hajime and Sukuna preparing to strike.
“I’m not done yet. Didn’t I promise that I will win?” Gojo then smiles.
