“General. You called for me?”

“Yes Yukong.”, Jing Yuan said in his usual casual way, “I call you here because I wanted to congratulate you on your promotion.”

“What promotion general? I didn’t apply for any, sir.”

‘Yes but I decided to apply for you and it was approved”, he turned back, and rummage through his desk drawers before sliding an engraved plate to his interlocutor, “And please no more general”

Yukong was confused and looked at the plate in front of her: Helm master Yukong. “General I can’t accept this”

“Nonsense! You are one of our best pilots. You and your partner held the line alone long enough for reinforcement to come and thanks to you what could have been a disaster was averted”

“Yes, General, I’m one of your best assets. I should be staying on the front line”.

“I understand that it’s a sudden change. But are you insinuating that we are not able to choose wisely when it comes to the future of the entire Xianzhou Alliance?”

“Not at all, General…”

“Good”, he cut her, “In that case, when in polite company could you just call me Jing Yuan? At least until we announce you as the successor.”

“Yes, Gen… Jin Yuan”.

he smiled at her, “Good you are done for the day you can go home now. Report to me tomorrow I’ll brief you on the next steps before the official announcement”

On her way home she was still stunned at the news that she was just given and almost flew her starskiff past her front door. And her wife as per her usual saw it right away. “Honey what’s happening?”, she gently closed the front door behind her.

Yukong wrapped her arms around Caiyi and gently led them to the couch where she sat down and let her partner sit on her lap, her back facing her. “I’m going to be the next Helm master of the Xianzhou”

Caiyi turned her head as much as she could to look Yukong in the eye, or at least attempt it, “Say what now?”

She released her hold on her partner, “I’m going to be the next Helm Master of the Xanzhou. It’s not official yet but General Jing Yuan called me into his office to congratulate me today.”

“What! That’s good news! we should celebrate.”, she said, bouncing on her lap. This time it was her turn to hug her wife.

“I guess we can If you want”, Yukong smiled, “Do you want to go to that bar in the alchemy commission, that we wanted to go to a while back?”

Yukong felt Caiyi shaking her head on her shoulder, “Sorry no bars for a while”. She sped up and came back with something behind her back. She sat next to Yukong. The green-haired Foxian looked at her with curious eyes. Until she pulled out the positive pregnancy test and her eyes widened in excitement.

“It finally worked?”, she squealed and tackled Caiyi to the couch.
