Work Text:

Kirby took in the grandeur of Waddle Dee town as Kirby hopped through the portal that had just been opened seconds after Elfilin's sacrifice. Elfilin hummed as Kirby started at the bustling town.
“Isn’t it great? It’s been months since I closed the rift.”
“Months?”
Kirby balked,
“You only disappeared for a minute.”
“I’ve been working on trying to stop the time dilation of my portals… time just goes way faster here. Ooh! That reminds me, there’s a new tourney at the colosseum. Meta Knight and King Dedede were here while I recovered.”
Kirby blinked in surprise, looking back across the town,
"Meta Knight’s still here?”
"Mhm! Stoic man, very silent though. He has sort of an accent?"
"I... I know."
Kirby flushed as he thought of the man,
“He helped Dedede recover too. Mind control takes quite a toll. We should go say hi!”
“Right!”
Kirby took off for the main stairs, eyes glued to the colosseum and the small shrine beside it that held the self-proclaimed king and the gaggle of waddle dees around him.

Life with access to the new world had been difficult at first, but Kirby didn't let it deter him from his duties and his life.
Of course, the Waddle Dees were quick to get Dedede comfortable after the possession and fights. Some Waddles stayed in the town and others returned home, and life carried on as it normally would.
That was until spring came, and Kirby felt the usual hell of hormones and gluttony that came with preheats. Kirby didn’t know much about what he was, but he was an omega. He knew that much, even if he knew little of what being one entailed. Almost all of the residents of Popstar had been betas. Kirby had never met another Omega in his life...or an alpha. The concept of one frightened him, with all the stories that he was told by the waddle dees. Rabid beasts taking what they wanted and tossing omegas aside…
“Woah, you okay Kirby?”
Kirby was brought out of his thoughts by Elfilin floating over, a burger from the cafe in his paws,
“I’m okay, just a little tired.”
Kirby hopped off the bed and stretched slightly. He yawned loudly and rubbed his eyes, Elfilin smiling and circling around the small orb happily.
"Are you ready to head to the colosseum? The waddle dees are already going over!"
“That was today? I nearly forgot.”
Kirby mumbled, rubbing the last of the sleep from his eyes and changing his tune immediately.
“Let’s get some gear then, I recently upgraded ranger, it’s super powerful now!”
Elfilin giggled at Kirby’s enthusiasm.

Something in the air smelled off.
Meta may have great hearing and sight, but his sense of smell was average, nothing as powerful as say the beast pack’s keen noses. He brushed it off and sharpened his sword, huffing as he narrowed his eyes down at the blade. Probably a lingering scent from a different species...no beings he had met on this land had any fertile omega scent. He returned into the arena and was greeted by Commentator Waddle Dee.
“Meta Knight, Kirby is challenging the cup today, he’s almost at you in the tourney, so be ready!”
“Kirby? A proper duel then.”
Meta nodded, waiting for the pink puff to face him.

The stands roared, some cheering for Kirby while others cheered for Meta Knight with vigor. The alpha puffed his chest out proudly and grinned, golden eyes setting on the smaller swordsman as he walked out to face the knight in the arena. Kirby raised his sword to the sky with grin,
“Good to see you, Meta!”
“Likewise. I prefer a good challenge.”
Meta jumped down, standing tall and taking in Kirby’s readied stance. He smirked under the mask, reaching to grab his blade when-
"That scent..."
He muttered, sniffing around and scanning the lively crowd sitting in the stadium. It was too close to be any of them...it was stronger here on the battlefield. Kirby tilted his head at the knight,
“You good?”
It all clicked when Kirby took a step closer. Kirby was the omega; Meta gripped his blade tighter.
How had he never noticed? He swallowed, taking on a harsher tone to the other.
"Go home Kirby."
"What? Why?"
Kirby asked, bewildered at the sudden tone that Meta was taking with him.
Meta plunged Galaxia into the stone.
“I said Go Home, Now.”
Kirby shivered, his feet moving on their own, sword clattering to the floor as he ran from the arena.
Meta sighed, wings slumping, unable to hear the confused chatter of the crowd over his own thoughts.
He hadn’t used his Alpha voice in years… not even during emergencies. But Kirby was better off alone when he reeked of preheat. Even then...he couldn't help the guilt that sat in the pit of his stomach. He had been far too aggressive with his command. He hadn't meant to hurt the man's feelings but the thought of Kirby being in the open and vulnerable in the middle of the arena made his blood boil.
He needed to make it up to Kirby.
Meta took to the sky and made his way to the town to gather what he needed. He shouldn’t intrude in Kirby’s home. An omega’s heat prep was something sacred and delicate after all.

The wrapped basket of sweets, medication and his folded worn cloak was delivered to Kirby’s doorstep, left there for the omega to take inside. The carefully worded letter sat in the center, sealed with wax, Meta watched from a perch out of view to make sure the omega received his apology. His eyes narrowed, and after a few minutes of waiting Kirby walked out. Metas heart broke at the look of the other, sniffling and wiping their tears away as they noticed the gift bag.
Kirby picked up the letter and opened the seal, reading the words.
Dear Kirby,
I must apologize for my premature end of our duel. My usage of my ability wasn’t warranted in the slightest and it shamed me that I even used it to begin with.
To show how sorry I am, I’ve included several of your favorite sweets from the cafe and something for you to nest with. The pheromones may make the heat less stressful.
Till next duel,
Meta Knight.

Kirby swallowed and looked around, failing to notice Meta Knight as he did so. The knight sighed in relief as Kirby hastily picked up the basket and pulled it inside.
Good...he accepted it. Meta waited a few more moments before flying off back to his ship.
Kirby dug into the basket and gasped softly, lifting out a packaged slice of strawberry shortcake.
“Aww. My favorite!”
What then caught his attention was the smell of steel and nuanced cologne. Meta’s cloak sat beneath all the sweets in the basket.
Kirby stared at it for a second, heat coiling in his stomach as he reached down to take it into his paws. It was heavy, soft worn fabric appeasing Kirby's senses and making his cheeks flow a darker pink. He nuzzled his cheek against the cloak and took in the musk of the article. Kirby couldn’t help but wrap himself in the cloak and let out a yawn, so sleepy. When Elfilin returned to the home he found Kirby asleep on the floor cozied up in the strangely familiar cloak.

Kirby hated heats. The tossing and turning in bed, the want for something more than he had...it all sucked! He whimpered and pressed his face into the small nest on his bed, nuzzling into the cloak that still faintly smelled of his knight. Elfilin thankfully had let Kirby have some room, and the hero couldn’t be more grateful.
The scent of the cloak did make him feel calmer, but it didn’t help the aching need he constantly felt… Maybe he could ask Meta to re-scent it? Why did it smell so good anyways, weren’t alphas supposed to smell good? Then again Kirby never learned what Meta was. He whined as he thought about it, the strong, demanding voice telling him what to do. He had to be an alpha...
"Kirby! I brought food!"
Elfilin chirped, bringing Kirby out his brainstorming. The teal psychic floated in and set down the tray of warm ramen and pastries on Kirby’s reading table.
“Huh? Oh thanks. Elfilin, could you go give this to Meta?”
Kirby took off the warm cloak and held it out to Elfilin.
“Oh wow, how’d you get that?”
Elfilin asked as they took the fabric in their paws.
“Gift basket.”
Kirby grabbed the food and gulped it down.

“Hey Meta Knight!”
Meta flinched and swung his sword out towards the intruder of his private room in the colosseum, his home away from home when not on the halberd or in dreamland.
Elfilin yelped, scrambling back as the blade came far too close for comfort.
"Oh...Kirby's little friend..."
Meta swallowed down his embarrassment and sheathed his blade, the window stood ajar above Meta’s desk, clearly Elfilin had simply flown in.
"What brings you here little... creature?"
"K-Kirby wanted me to return this."
Elfilin held out the cloak in a trembling paw, Meta taking the cloak and noting the potent scent.
“Is he alright? Kirby, I mean.”
“I only really see him when I get him food and supplies. He didn’t smell distressed when I saw him.”
“Good.
Elfilin nodded, quickly floating out the window. Meta’s attention returned to his cloak, and he hummed, the scent of the omega in heat making his heart pound just a little faster.
It smelled delectable.
Meta placed the cloak down swiftly, he could barely smell his own presence of the spare cape. Had Kirby really been using it? The pheromone drenched fabric told the answer. Kirby had been wrapped in that cloak. It made Meta feel warm, almost cozy. He wrapped the fabric around himself and allowed the scent to rub against his skin and armor. Kirby was special...his greatest companion...he was not going to let anything happen to him. Meta let out a soft groan,
Kirby had clearly enjoyed the scented fabric… should Meta deliver a replacement? Maybe with more sweets and even a blanket? Kirby had used the cloak in a nest after all.

Kirby stirred in his nest, clinging to the scent of Meta that barely lingered on the blankets and pillows. Would Meta get the message? Would he return with a new cloak? Perhaps he would believe Kirby didn't want it… A whimper left the voidborne's lips at the thought. He should’ve been more clear to Elfilin- wait, was that a knock?
Kirby sat up as he got a whiff of Meta’s scent, quickly bounding out of bed and opening the door. Meta, who was at the door with a basket, startled, wings flicking out in his shock and quickly returning to their cape form.
“Kirby! Nova, you frightened me.”
“H-hi Meta. Did you get your cloak back?”
Kirby asked, leaning towards the knight.
“I did, I brought you more sweets.”
“And a new cloak?”
Meta flustered under the mask, was he so obvious with his intentions?
“Y-yes that too. I should get going.”
“No, staaay! Scent my nest, pleeeease?”
Kirby begged. Meta’s face burned under the cool steel of his mask, the smaller omega whining and looking at Meta with the best puppy eyes that he could muster.
"I... I can only stay for a second."
Meta conceded, Kirby immediately brightened, snatching the basket from the doorstep and eagerly leading Meta into the potent one room home. Stars, it smelled absolutely wonderful.
Meta took in the absolute mountain of blankets making Kirby’s nest, the puff jumping in eagerly and burrowing under a fleece blanket. His heart fluttered at the sight, and he hummed, draping the newly scented cape over the boy and trilling as he scented the blankets surrounding Kirby. The puff rumbled out a purr, tugging at Meta’s hand.
“Scent me too?”
“It’s not quite as simple, Kirby.”
“Try? For me alpha?”
Meta couldn’t deny the rush of desire that filled him by an omega calling him his title. He swallowed and sighed, Kirby grinning happily as he obliged and hesitantly crawled into the warm bed. The stench of the other was almost overwhelming, Meta doing his best to keep control of his urges as he nuzzled against the submissive omega.
His training before being knighted long ago was ingrained in his mind, breathe, rationalize, mute your senses. But why would he mute his senses when Kirby smelled so sweet and cuddled up against him like a kitten? It wasn't even explicit, his warm face nuzzling Meta and taking comfort in the alpha that he knew cared for him. He yawned and Metas' heart nearly exploded in his chest. He was not going to leave Kirby. The peach scented puff settled and nodded off, slumped against the older puff. Meta let out a soft breath and pet Kirby’s back, with how the pink fluffball clung to him there was no way he was leaving, whether he wanted to or not.
“Sleep well… omega.”

When Kirby awoke, he felt aflame, it hurt like lava against his skin and he could barely think.
"Nngh.."
He groaned, hard metal poking against him as the blue alpha snored in the nest, still clad in his armor and spare cloak.
"Metty."
He whined, the stench of the alpha all over him and his room. Kirby squirmed and rolled onto his stomach.
“Metaaa. Alpha, it hurts.”
Kirby pouted, tapping on Meta’s mask insistently. The Halcandran let out a sleepy grunt, wings wrapping around Kirby. The voidborn gasped, writhing as he was pressed flush to Meta’s side, the desire flooding his small body growing twice as intense.
“M-Meta.”
Cheek to cheek with the man Kirby was completely out of control. He writhed, desperate for closer contact as he nuzzled needily into the man's cheek. Meta roused, slowly yawning and stretching as he came to from his comfortable nap.
"Metty!"
Kirby chirped happily, sitting up and grinning as his alpha finally arose from his slumber. The knight went stiff, eyes wide behind the mask.
“Kirby?”
“Morning alpha.”
Meta knight drew back his wings, the omega smiling dropping at the loss of contact.
“My apologies. Good morning, are you feeling alright?”
Kirby huffed and hugged Meta closer.
“I need you, Meta. Don’t go.”
The alpha forgot to breathe as Kirby pulled his gloved hand to his crotch.
“No. I can’t.”
Meta pulled back his hand swiftly, feeling far too warm. The hero frowned, pouting as Meta quickly scrambled out of the nest.
"I... I should leave."
"But... Alpha!"
Kirby whimpered and gripped on to the blankets.
"Don't leave me!"
"I can't take advantage of you Kirby, we can talk about this after your heat."
Kirby wailed,
The cry was unlike anything he’d heard before, clearly a yell of distress, but it felt powerful,
ancient.
Meta couldn’t move.
“You have to stay!”
Kirby pleaded; Meta Knight began to wonder… is this how It felt when he used his alpha voice? He felt like he was drowning.
Kirby whimpered and leaned forward in the nest, crying out for Meta as the knight contemplated before finally deciding.
"Alright! alright...I'll stay with you."
The wailing stopped and the boy was as contented as ever Meta climbed back into the nest and let himself be clung to. Thankfully Kirby didn’t try to initiate anything, cuddling with a delighted smile.
“My alpha.”
The phrase felt like chocolate on his tongue, Kirby hummed and repeated it, more to himself than Meta. Meta allowed it, snuggling up to the smaller and cooing to him in a comforting manner. The last thing he wanted was to upset Kirby and make him use that powerful cry of his. Meta was fairly content like this, smelling his own scent on Kirby as he nuzzled his face into the puffball's head. It was awfully tame for a heat, aside from Kirby's previous act, and he wasn't complaining.
“I love you. My Meta.”
Kirby mumbled as he blinked up at the knight.
“Your Meta?”
Kirby nodded, lifting the mask on the Halcandran’s face just a smidgen so he could press a kiss to his mouth. Meta hummed, Kirby kissing his face and nuzzling him as the two rested in bed. It was warm...and Meta soon found himself falling into a soft sleep. The warmth and content omega pheromones lulled him into drowsiness.
"Rest now Kirby."
He spoke softly as the warrior tried to go in for another kiss.
“I’m not tired. You rest.”
Kirby kissed him again, this time prying open Meta’s mouth to poke at his sharp teeth, Meta, even while sleep-addled, kissed back to the best of his considerable abilities. They’d kissed plenty of times to share food after all. Kirby purred and nuzzled, peppering more and more kisses onto the alphas face as he got as much of the dominating scent on him as possible. It was perfect, a feeling of protection and love draping over the omega as he stayed in the nest filled with the presence of his Meta.
However, when his knight nodded off, he was alone again, with nothing but his hunger and the burning ache. He pressed his face against the knight's armor and whimpered, curled up against the other and silently hoping that he would awaken soon. His prayers weren’t answered, and it was hellish to be beside his alpha and not be touched. He nudged and whimpered, but to no avail...so he waited...the heat clawing at his insides as he desperately tried to keep himself at bay for the alpha. Even with his mind melted Kirby knew better than to throw himself at a slumbering body, even if he wanted it so, so bad.
His stomach growled and he whined loudly, perking up as the door opened only to droop at the Beta scent of Elfilin.
"I got you some food."
They whispered, placing the tray next to the bed and smiling at Kirby. Kirby waved, Elfilin balking at the sight of the knight.
“Woah! It’s Meta knight! Did he… y’know? Claim you?”
Kirby shook his head, crossing his arms, why hadn’t his alpha claimed him? Bitten him and taken the omega as his? It made him angry, though Elfilin only gulped and nodded to Kirby, wishing him luck in his heat before leaving the heat scented room. It wasn't long after Kirby had started eating, that Meta woke up. Almost instantly Kirby was grabbed by his round sides, a low rumble coming from the knight.
“Omega~”
“Alpha.”
Kirby answered, lifting a morsel of food for the knight to eat. Instead, the Halcandran rutted against his side, pressing a hard erection against his pink skin.
Kirby mewled, flushing and purring in surprise as a face was stuck into his soft skin and his scent gland was licked. The food so kindly given to him was completely forgotten at the chance of being bred by his alpha.
"You smell so good."
Meta purred out seductively, nibbling and continuing to rut against the smaller puff.
“A-alpha~ bite.”
The result was instantaneous, sharp canines buried into his skin, completing the bond for all to see. Kirby purred, grinning and giggling as the bite was licked and cleaned by the alpha. Meta let out a loud rumbling noise and nuzzled the bite. Kirby purred back and spread his legs for his alpha, giving the knight easy access to his sopping hole. Meta let out a growl of thanks and nuzzled Kirby, kissing his cheek and giving a few sloppy disorganized thrusts. Kirby was absolutely delighted, flushing and grinning so hard it hurt. Meta didn’t hesitate to thrust into the heat loosened walls of Kirby’s core, making himself at home in the warm cavern. He let out a soft grunt, Kirby chirping happily and grinning as Meta eagerly thrusted into the tight space. It was utterly intoxicating, and he never wanted to leave it. Kirby pushed his hips back into the rough thrusts, aiming to swallow all he could of the alpha’s cock. The heat swirling in Kirby's core died down with each thrust, each growl and grunt sending waves of pleasure surging through his body. The claim burned; Kirby able to feel each tooth mark on his skin.
“M-Meta.”
The alpha licked at the bite again, pressing a kiss to the torn skin.
“I’m here. I’m here, shhhh.”
Meta’s rut-slurred voice soothed,
“Feels so good, don’t stop alpha, my alpha.”
Meta kissed at the bite and grinned against the soft skin, pressing close to the other puff. The stench of heat was still thick in the air, though the blind lust slowly faded as Meta felt his knot swell. Kirby keened, writhing against the sheets desperately.
“Knot me, please. Need it!”
Meta was far too addled by rut to even consider denying his omega.
The eventual release was breathtaking, watching his omega writhe on the sheets as he was filled up to the brim. Meta couldn't help but revel in the sight of it.
"My sweet omega~"
He cooed to the man, petting his sides and purring Kirby took a shaky breath and hugged Meta,
“D-don’t go, please.”
“I won’t, my omega.”
“Please.”
Meta pressed close to the smaller and purred out his thanks, butting heads softly and wrapping his wings around the pleased orb. Slumber took them both in its hold, those struck with the urge to breed often were.

When Meta awoke, he felt refreshed, something that almost never happened. It only ever occurred after a rut- oh Nova. Where was he? Meta sat up, taking in the cream walled room around him with horror.
“No… No, Nova no. Don’t tell me…”
He didn’t want to look, truly he didn’t.
Laid beside him was a snoring Kirby, bearing a purple bruised bite on his body. Metas eyes grew wide, and he covered his mouth, pulling away from the other and freezing as the cold morning air hit his dick.
"Fuck...no, shit."
He couldn't have...this wasn't...no he had more control than this!
He took another glance at Kirby, feeling guilt gathering in his chest. Meta couldn’t leave. He’d claimed Kirby, and it was his duty as his alpha to stay by his side. No matter how terrible he felt and no matter how much he wanted to escape and pretend this never happened. He let out a breath, his heart pulling him back to the bed where he laid and stared at the orb. He may have made an unforgivable error, but as an honorable knight he would not allow the boy to be abandoned. He swallowed and nudged the pink fluff ball, finding it hard to regret his mistake as a face nuzzled close to him.
“Good morning… Do you feel well?”
Meta asked tentatively as Kirby’s eyes fluttered open.
“H-hi… I feel okay. Are you okay? You look pale.”
Kirby noted.
“Kirby… I have bad news.”
Kirby sat up; concern etched on his face as he studied the knight’s expression.
"Bad news? What happened? Is the village okay?"
"N-No nothing like that happened. The townsfolk are fine.”
Then what’s wrong?
Meta took in a breath, ready to take whatever consequences that may come with bearing his sins.
"I... went into rut."
“Okay?”
“Kirby... you don’t understand. I abused my power during our duel, and I interfered with your nesting. I was selfish, I shouldn’t have even lent you my cloak. I have failed my oath… and I have failed you. What kind of knight can’t even protect his beloved from his own feral nature?”
Kirby looked at the knight in confusion, sitting up and tilting his head to the side.
"Meta...I don't understand what's making you so upset."
"I took advantage of you!"
"You were following instinct. You didn't mean to."
"That is no excuse for my actions."
“Waddle dees always told me Alphas didn’t care that they just took what they wanted and left… you’re here, aren’t you? And you’re apologizing. For what? Finding me attractive?”
“Kirby, that’s not- you should be furious with me! I took away your choice in the matter! I knew better than to stay and I did anyway, it’s my fault.”
"I'm not angry! Meta, you are the kindest, most thoughtful alpha that I'm ever going to meet! The only alpha actually. If anyone were to claim me in my heat, I'd hope it'd be you.”
Kirby reached over and Meta flinched as a hand placed over his own.
"Kirby."
Meta spoke sternly
"I wouldn't want to be claimed by anyone else. Not when I have a perfect alpha like you.”
Meta turned his face from Kirby.
“How can you say such a thing… I could’ve seriously hurt you Kirby…”
“Well, you didn’t! So, stop whining and just come here and hug me. I’m your mate now, aren’t I?”
Metas golden eyes looked to Kirby's sparkling sapphires, the soft boy nuzzling him and relaxing in the closeness of his knight.
"But what if-"
"Shut up Meta. Just cuddle up against me and relax."
Meta slumped against the omega, letting out a weary sigh.
“I should’ve at least courted you before you went into heat…”
“Meta, you can court me all you want, what does it matter if we were mated before dating? Stop worrying.”
Meta begrudgingly nuzzled the bite and sighed, Kirby petting his head in a comforting manner and humming to the warrior.
"We can discuss this when we wake up... it's too early."
"It's 10 in the morning Kirby."
"Shhh..."
“Kirby.”
Meta scolded, getting shushed with a kiss to his cheek.
“Good night, Meta!”
“Sleep well… and it’s morning.”

Meta bathed in the sunlight that beat down, his heart warming at the sight of his new mate in front of him. Somehow, the bright grin and determined eyes seemed all the more alluring.
“This is it folks! The fight you’ve all been waiting for! “
The announcer called out, Meta spreading his wings in a flashy display for the crowd.
“Don’t think I’ll go east on you love!”
“Heh, I’d be pissed if you did!”
Meta flew down a struck, sword clashing with sword. A large sound wave flew across the stadium, Kirby giggling as he dodged and countered as many of the swings as he could.
"Just as strong as ever!"
“Only the best for my rival.”
Meta cooed, unleashing a flurry of sword beams against Kirby who dodge rolled away seamlessly. It was impressive, watching the two dash and attack each other with grace and passion. It became obvious who would turn out the victor as Kirby continued to dodge the growingly sluggish attacks. With a resounding crack that deafened the roaring crowds, Meta’s mask was shattered, he began to wrap himself in in his cloak to disappear when Kirby pulled a spare mask from his pocket.
“Here!”
Golden eyes shimmered and he let out a hearty chuckle, accepting the replacement and the peck on his cheek that came with it,
"Ever the thoughtful one, my shining star."
He cooed to the omega; eyes half lidded at the bright smile he received.
“Well, I was sure I was gonna win.”
“Well, we’ll see about that. I’ll get you next time.”
Commentator Waddle Dee cleared their throat into the mic, clearly confused by the abnormal display between the two warriors.
“Ahem. It seems Kirby is our winner once again! Your prize will be upfront.”
Kirby giggled and squeezed Meta’s hand.
“I’d better get my money, see you later Metty!”
Meta smiled and waved,
"See you, Kirby."
He spoke softly, content with the sight of his omega being joyous. Meta couldn't help but smile to himself.
Kirby...his omega. How lucky was he?
