Work Text:

“And that’s how I and Tomo discovered the secret dungeon of the Raiden Shogun.”
“You know Kaz, when you said ‘secert dungeon’ I expected some more spicy, like sex dungeon, not just an old prison!”. Said Venti pointing his chopsticks at Kazhua.

Xiao, Venti, Kazhua, Aether and Heizou were all reunited around a table, eating Japanese take out in Xiao new apartment.

“Well, you should’ve specified that you wanted something spicy when you asked us to tell you stories that you didn’t know yet.” Answered the white-haired boy “anyway it’s your turn now Xiao.”

“Speaking of spicy things: I hate spicy food.” Said xiao before mouthing a spoon of Japanese curry.
“Oh, really now?” Venti’s sarcasm had no response.

“There was one time I went out for a first date with a cute little brunette. She had mischievous smile and a small turned-up nose, but most notable part of her were her eyes: she had those eyes that look past whatever was in front of her, like there was always a puzzle going on her I her head that couldn’t be solved. We’ll call her Walnut”

“Wait, why are you not telling us her real name?” “Are you telling me that your friend’s name in your story was really Tomo?” at that kazuha opened his mouth before closing it without saying anything.

“As I thought. Anyway, we were deciding where to go and she kept wanting me to try something new. After she ratted off a few names of places that I’ve been in my life, she mentions Wanmin. If aren’t familiar it’s a popular chain of restaurants here in Liyue.”

“ogh” Aether swallows one second “yeah Zhongli brought me there once while I was studying in Liyue, it’s very good.”

“We always had chemistry, Walnut and I, I would catch her staring at a window, just past where I was sitting, her plastic pencil cup in her mouth. She would smile, widdle her hair and return to her notes. But really the only times we talked before our first date was during group project or homework, but we could always manage to end up out of breath from laughter.”

Xiao stopped for second, lost in his memories, with a sweet smile on his face.

“I love her lough: explosive, you can see her whole body shake in a calm wave as the soft sound laves her body.”

“Now at the counter I saw something familiar: beef rice and vegetables. I didn’t feel too adventurous, so I went with that. The lady I ordered from said something quickly and I said sound good in response, problem is didn’t hear what she said due to her accent. Walnut ordered prawn dumplings and a few egg rolls. Laughter filled my car on the way to a park nearby. It was a little windy, but I knew the park had a pavilion opened to the public, so I wasn’t too worried. We sat down and we started talking about why camels are the best creatures in the whole world: we would come up with all these random fake facts about animals and try to come up with something that sounded realistic to someone who knew nothing about the animal. I don’t remember anything specific that we came up at the time, but this is an import part of the story for later.”

“Is it really?” said Heizou with a sceptical face.

“Yes. So, then we dug into the food and, at first, I loved it: it had such a rich flavour to it that I wasn’t expecting from a dish I had made myself so many times. But then it hit me like a ton bricks: I started drinking profusely and tried to eat the part that weren’t hot to hide the flavour, but nothing seemed to stick. Walnut started laughing at me and said something along the line of: ‘what you don’t like spicy food?’ the lady even told that it was spicy at the counter dummy’. My mouth burned like I had swallowed needles and all laned straight into my tongue. Upon seeing my red face and obvious struggling, Walnut laughed at me and suggested we head back to her place, since it was closer, to get some milk. I agreed and we hopped in the car again.”

“As soon as we got to her place she grabbed a glass, open up the fridge and pulled out about a gallon of milk that was about half full. By the time I’ve felt even remotely better I had drunk the whole thing. After we had gotten a lot of laughter out of the way and the date was starting to go little bit better, I set up from the pillow on her lap and told her I better head out. Just as I went to leave, she whispered in my ear:’ Do you know that camel don’t have receptors on their tongue that detect spicy food?’ and then she kissed me”

“that’s it? all this story for a kiss? No spicy action?” “Yes, that’s it Venti! It was our first date, and you do that on the first date. Also, I wouldn’t tell you anyway.” “Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?!”

“And how things ended up with you two anyway?” “We are stayed together a couple of years before I came to Inazuma where I met you guys, but since I came back, we are seeing each other again. She will be staying here tonight actually when she comes back form the dinner with her friends.”

“Wait, was she that cutie that you were saying goodbye to down here? Man, you’re lucky” “Nothing ever escapes you eh Hei? Yes, it’s her.” “I knew it.”

“Moving on, it’s your turn Aether. and can you please add a little bit of spice in this conversation? There is not enough vine to stand this group of middle schoolers.”
