Work Text:

“Kaeya, good morning. Isn’t it a bit too early for a drink?” Diluc said, teasing. It really is too early to see Kaeya walking in Angel’s share.

1pm.

Diluc knows it’s either Kaeya had a bad day and wants some company. Or he finished his work early and decided to bother Diluc.

It doesn’t matter which, because they had agreed that Kaeya can only drink a few glasses of alcohol at about 7pm to ‘end the day’.

“None of your business. Give me a glass of death afternoon if you’d be so kind.” Kaeya grumbles, sitting on the barstool next to the wall.

This shocked Diluc of course, he was not expecting that answer. Kaeya must be in a bad mood, then.

But he would never bring it out on Diluc.

If the red head didn’t know better, he would’ve gotten mad right then and there for the lack of respect.

“Kaeya. It’s 1pm” Diluc said, shrugging Kaeya’s tone off. They’ll walk about it later, he’ll give Kaeya time to cool off.

“I have eyes, Master Diluc. And Mora.” Kaeya bringing out his pouch of mora and aggressively droping it on the counter.

“..master diluc.?” Diluc parrots to himself, confused at the sudden use of title. They've been better, took a few awkward weeks before getting Kaeya to drop the honorifics and then a few months for him to tease him with nicknames.

“Kaeya, are you alright?” He asked louder for Kaeya to hear. Again, it was only 1pm, usual customers would just take alcohol out to go. So there was only Diluc and Kaeya at the tavern.

“As I said, that is none of your business. If you’re not gonna serve me, I’ll be heading to Cat’s tail. Their alcohol is better anyway” Kaeya said, purposely muttering the last sentence to annoy Diluc more.

“Excuse me?” Diluc said, his shocked eyebrows started to furrow. “My, did you not hear me, Master Diluc? I said their alcoho-

“Shut up” The redhead cut him off. “Sit up properly and drink this.” his tone is serious now, he took a water cup from God knows where and harshly places it infront of kaeya. The force of it spills a few drops at the counter.

Kaeya obeyed, drinking the suspiciously cold water. If he flinched because of the sudden aggression from Diluc, no he didn't.

He has a goal to irritate his brother, but he knows more than to disobey Diluc.

Even in their childhood, Diluc had always been so demanding, for the good of everyone, so he’d rather drink the water than receive a kick in the ass.

Now, I’ll ask again, Kaeya. Are you alright?”

To continue the prank, or to not.

He's already started, and Diluc hasn’t technically gotten mad. What’s the harm, am i right- Kaeya gulps, and fixes his composure.

I’ll drop the ‘master’ title for now-

“Can’t a man have time for himself? You’re always bugging.” Kaeya said, brushing off the imaginary dust at his arm. “Cat’s tail, it is.” he added qiuetly but enough for Diluc to hear, he tried to reach the pouch of mora he placed only to get grabbed at the wrist by the one and only Diluc.

“Kaeya. What the hell is wrong with you?” he said, not even a question. The hand holding Kaeya’s wrist started to give a tinge sense of heat. Oh shit, if he wasn’t mad before, he very well is now.

“Master Dilu-”

“Stop calling me that.”

Honestly, what kind of reaction did I expect from this. I feel like my wrists are melting.

“Alright, Diluc. If you would be so kind to excuse me-” kaeya tried tugging his wrist off his brother's hand “-I’ll get going now.”

As to no avail, Diluc was stronger, Kaeya couldn’t remove his hand and the palm holding him was starting to get hotter.

“Diluc,” I groaned, covering my pained toned still weakly trying to remove my arms from his grasp again. Making him just hold it tighter. He was giving me that glare.

Kaeya winced suddenly, making Diluc tilt his head. Kaeya’s arm twitched, Diluc held his wrist up closer to him “Kaeya, what are yo- Oh Archons.

Diluc quickly removed his hand away, holding it closer to his chest.

“Kaeya I’m- What did I-” Diluc took a bucket and washcloth from under the counter and jumped to get behind Kaeya. He hastily turned the drunkard around to face him, grabbing his fingers and gently tapping the damped washcloth at Kaeya’s wrist.

It'd be lucky if he didn't get a few blisters from this.l

“Kaeya I’m so sorry, I didn’t know I was burning up.” Diluc whispered many apologies while still rubbing the cloth around Kaeya’s arm, receiving a few hesitant groans from the bluenette.

“It’s fine, I’m sorry” his brother replied after a few moments, laughing quietly to lighten up the mood.

He looked at Diluc who was now kneeling. “Don’t be sorry?! I was the one who-” Diluc stressed, showing him his wrist before bandaging it up “-did this?!” Diluc quickly finished the bandages and sat on the floor with a heavy thump. Exhaling loudly.

The other slowly went down the stool to sit beside his brother on the floor. The wet cloth soothed his wrists a bit as he slids down the floor, adjusting so his back would lean onto the wall

“It was a joke,” Kaeya said, wrapping his non-damaged arm around Diluc’s shoulder. The redhead calms his breathing and looks at Kaeya, as if waiting for the other to elaborate more.

“I wasn’t in a bad mood, it was a joke.” He continued, forcing a laugh out.

“You little-!” Diluc said, raising his hand to slap Kaeya’s head.

“Ouch! Wasn’t the wrist enough of a punishment?” Kaeya teased, dramatically showing off the bandaged arm.

“Oh shut up.”

Diluc stood up, using his hand on Kaeya’s head as a support. “Kaeya, you should stop with this antics.” He said, walking back to stand behind the counters, putting the bucket and cloth aside.

Yeah.. I really should.” He agreed, showing again the bandaged wrist as to ‘why he agreed’.

Diluc uncharacteristically chuckled, making Kaeya flushed. “Did you just.. Laugh at my pain?” Kaeya said, mockingly offended. “Stop being dramatic, sit down” Diluc said, smiling.

This felt nice.

“You know, At least give me a shot of death after noon as a compensation.” Kaeya said, laying his head down on the counter.

“Kaeya.” Diluc sighed. “Cmon, just one!” The younger whined, turning his head up to meet with Diluc’s glare. “You’re lucky I didn’t punch you.” Diluc replied, a drop of sweat ran down Kaeya’s forehead. “Yeah, yeah.. so very lucky..” he whispered.

Notes:

Diluc should prolly get Kaeya back sooner or later
