Chapter Text
Rainn Lake watches the snowfall of Ireland down from the window of the wooden cabin from her bed across the room she and Angor rot are taking refuge when the weather begins to beat down on them like a raging bull. It was due to having a talk with the kindred human man who was using this cabin as a vacation spot from the America. Saying he always loved the scenery of Ireland. Rainn would have to admit it too. The pictures on the internet truly did not capture the beauty of it all.
Angor rot didn’t seem to impress. But he did grow up and know those lands and he said it felt like he was back on his motherlands. So it made sense he wouldn’t be initially impressed. The older man allowed them to stay at their cabin for a few days. Beside his immediate unsure and suspicious attitude to them. It was his first time seeing a troll and a human…fae creature after all. But as he says “ He couldn’t let anyone who was in need out in the cold”
Counting the snowfall that gracefully drips from the sky and to the ground. Many attached themselves to the window. Rainn counted how many that would hit the window. One. two. Three. Five. Seven. Thirteen. Rainn blink away from the window and tuck herself deeper into the thick blankets. Feeling Rainn shift in the blankets, Angor rot tuck his hand over her hip and around her to pull her close. Humming under his breath lazily
Rainn turns her head over to Angor rot to look at him. Looking at the many cracks he had and the sharp groves he carried. She gazes away and looks towards the T.V. half listening to the tv and different channels. Watching the news of anything interesting. But Rainn grew bored and closed her eyes.
Rainn thought of her loved ones back home. Wondering what they are doing. She wonders what kind of many adventures they are having…and what they are doing to rebuild their home. She knows after everything that happened with them. There will be many things to heal and many things to untie. Rainn wonders if it was a good idea to leave them in that state. But Jim told her everything will be alright and go and find what she wants to look for!
But yet…She worries. Rainn sniffs slightly and buries her face into the pillows and rubs her face there. She didn’t want them to be in danger again. She gulps hard.
“ Rainn.” Angor rot voice came and Rainn felt angor rot lift himself slightly up from the bed. Feeling his presence over her slightly “ Rainn…What is wrong?”
Rainn removes her face away from the pillow and looks up at Angor rot. Angor rot was staring down at her. Holding himself up with one arm. His eyes were firm, a usual look he had on his face if not for the look of worry upon his face. Seeing her eyes watering up with tears“ Why are you crying?” Angor rot asked in concern.
Rainn sniffs heavily and shifts onto her back. She lifts herself up with both of her hands and sits up. Revealing her wearing a plain, white shirt and simple blue underwear. Lifting her legs to hug them “....I feel this whole thing is a mistake.”
“ What mistake?’ Angor Rot asked.
“ Me leaving home to find…answers that may not even exist!” Rainn clenches harder onto her knees “ Like…what if all this was for nothing. What if the answers I am looking for are not even there!” Rainn says her woes. Angor rot listening to her quietly “ I have always wanted answers for my parenaged for years. YEARS! Coming to find I was…something more than I thought I was. Being Human. I…i don’t even know anymore” Rainn let out a big sigh, remembering to breathe out and bury her face into her knees.
Angor rot stares at Rainn. He can see the worry in her. Those salty, watery tears stream down her cheek. Angor rot hum gently with a deep frown and gently wrap an arm around her. Placing his other hand on her leg in comfort. Rubbing the fair, smooth skin with his thumb “ Rainn. You did this because you have a right to know your life you don’t know. Even if there might be nothing. At least you have the Closure”
Rainn gaze her blue eyes up to Angor rot. She rubs her wet cheek on the left knee and watches Angor rot’s face. He held a soft look in his eyes. Warm yellows of comfort that made her chest tickle “ And you know your brother and the rest of the…trollhunters can handle themselves. They have faced many things that could have killed them. Especially…her…” Angor rot thumb press firmer and he close his crack eyelids to not let the memories of his torture and enslavement flood in him once again. Rainn watches him. Her eyes turn worried as she curls up against Angor and place hand under the sharp edge of his chin. Her blunt fingers felt his cracked chin and the ring that hung on his chin. She rub the finger over his ring gently
“ I….was worried for you too. You know, Rainn '' Angor rot says. Opening his eyes half lid
“ Is that so?” Rainn says
“ yes…When you said to everyone you were going. I…couldn’t let you go alone” Angor rot let go of her leg and wrap his other arm around her waist and pull her closer to him. His chin over her head and in her raven back hair.
“ Is it because you can’t bear being away from me?” Rainn questions. A silver of a playful tone in her whisper of a breath with a smirk.
Angor rot snickered at her little banter “ Hahhaaa…no. Not entirely…Ok maybe a part of that” Angor rot admits. Rainn giggles “ but no…The reason I came is because I do not want you to lose your path along the way…”
“ Angor…I will not lose my path. I won’t forget my purpose if that's what you mean?” She give him a squint of an eyes
“ Well. That's what I thought when I left my village to seek Morgana Le Fay for powers to protect my village…” Angor rot's voice turned solemn as he spoke “...It can be easy to lose what you're fighting for easily…Like I had” Angor rot closed his eyes again. Rainn looks over at Angor. Morgana’s name still ranges a chord with Angor Rot. It left a crooked cord to everyone. She left such terrible scars on him. They were still raw and blood, Fresh as yesterday cut. Even after an entire year has passed since that day of eternal night and the battle of Gunmar and Morgana Le Lay. That day when he was reminded what he fights for and what he believed in and fought for those rights that very day.
Rainn sadly looks at Angor rot. She slowly reached her two arms around his neck and hugged him. Bury her head against his neck. Angor rot took a deep breath, shallow gasp at her hug, then leaned into it feeling her warmth sink into his gray, stony flesh. Rainn felt a small droplet land on her arm and she opened her eyes. A single, cold tear dripped from his round eye. Rainn reached up and stroked it “ I just…do not to have the same fate as mine. Rainn. I do not wish to lose you to that fate. This is a fate worse than death…And I do not wish it on you…” Angor voice sounds tight. His blunt teeth clunch to hold back a sob. Rainn felt more tears stream down her eyes. Her eyes were shining “ oh angor rot…” She shifted her position up in his grasp and pressed her forehead against the side of his head, Careful of the sharp horns that were in the way “ I promise you with all my soul I will not lose myself. Not for anyone. I promise…to you. I will never leave you all” Rainn promises
Angor Rot blinks rapidly the tears that were beaming at the edge of his eyes. He sighs out shakily. Letting Rainn wipe away the tears that fell from his eyes and the tears that were building up in his eyes before leaving a kiss behind on his cheek. Angor rot let out a short snort “ One of those human customs hm?”
Rainn pulled her head back “ Don’t like it, sir?” Shr raise a brow at him
“ hmm…I cannot say I dislike it” Angor rot tilt his head to her direction “ you might have to leave a couple more of those “kisses” you call them to make sure of my option”
Rainn curls her feet inside into the sheets and giggles amusingly at his words “ Oh Angor rot. If you wanted kisses so badly, You could only ask. My silly troll!” Rainn flick her long ear and nuzzle into his head. Leaning forward to kiss along his head. Angor rot hummed in content of the kisses. Angor rot lifts his head to look out the window to see the trees shuffle more firmly in the rough winds that begin to blow. Batting against the house like battle drums.
“ It seems this will be quite a cold day. Hm?” Angor asked. Knowing the answer
“ yeah. It might go on throughout the night too. We might have to stay until it lets up then we will leave quickly” Rainn establishes and blinks tiredly. Opening her jaws to yawn. Exposing white, fanged teeth before snapping them shut
“ Hmmm. Very well Rainn.” He reaches for the blankets and wraps the soft cotton blanket around her body and lays his chin on her head. Rainn smiles as she listens to the wind beating at the world outside and the listening to the sounds of angor rot’s core. Listening to the thrumming within his chest. Rainn looks up at Angor and gently wraps the blanket around his waist. Angor rot accepted with a warm heart,
